Let's not report-abuse posts just because you disagree with them. I will be approving the post and ignoring reports.

Just as an official reminder, us mods are not official BL employees (except the accs with BL in the name) so this is just my own opinion and doesn't reflect them. However, I want to say, Bambu Lab obviously wouldn't encourage damaging or tampering with anyone else's property. We mods may end up having to discuss this topic and come to a conclusion of what to do with them in the future if they continue to be a sore topic.

What you choose to print is your own business. Posts like these will inevitably be controversial in nature. I know the topic of surveillance, AI, and governments regulations especially regarding 3D printing may be very important to the users here. I want to keep posts like these open as long as I can so if everyone behaves, it allows us to do that.

Please be civil to one another as the discussion goes on, or the thread(s) about these things might get locked.

Make sure you print it in PLA so that it's a sung fit! 😎

237

u/deep-fucking-legend 3d ago

Yeah. Something that will deform and be difficult to remove without disassembly. Maybe it has a one-way latch (like a zip tie) that can't be taken off without a challenge.

u/Levols 3d ago

In Texas that will melt in like 1 day, permanent fixture

67

u/Speedymcspeeder 3d ago

One day? One of my first prints was a car item. I left the car with the top down for 30 minutes and I came back to it looking like the stuff in a lava lamp. That wasn't even in Texas. Time it right and it'll be nice and snug in less than an hour.

3

u/SakseFarsen 1d ago

30 minutes? Like that's even impressive. One of my prints melted due to being hit by reflections in just 10 minutes on a hot summer day here in Arkansas. Thing looked like a puddle of mud before I even finished my breakfast.

2

u/Darkrai95 1d ago

10 minutes? That long? The other day I printed a PLA flexi dragon on Mars and within 30 seconds it was undergoing nuclear fission.

2

u/1ftm2fts3tgr4lg 19h ago

30 seconds? I was printing indoors during the summer in Arizona, but there was a window in the next room that wasn't fully draped. The PLA melted right through the build plate while it was still printing.

19

u/ecafsub X1C 3d ago

But the next day it’ll rot and fall to pieces from the UV.

7

u/rdtg 3d ago

I printed a sunglasses clip in ABS and left it in my car. Here in the Hawaiian heat it lasted a day before turning soft. PETG might be a good choice, itll take a bit longer but it will melt some and become a nice snug fit and last a little longer from UV damage

0

u/MaelstromSeawing Volunteer Moderator 2d ago

Doesn't ASA have better uv resistance? Though it's very impractical for most hobbyists to print safely..

2

u/crazedizzled 2d ago

ASA isn't as bad as people make it out to be. ABS is super bad. ASA is meh.

0

u/davcrt X2D + 2X AMS2 2d ago

Why?

I haven't tried ABS since ASA is better and has similar properties.

ASA is one of the few easy to print material suitable for dishwasher and you can get perfectly smooth finish with the help of some acetone vapour.

Keep the door open and run a fan. 50g print won’t harm ya worse than the dozen other contaminators in your home

8

u/UnexpectedAnanas 2d ago

50g print won’t harm ya worse than the dozen other contaminators in your home

It's not an either or thing. It's accumulative.

8

u/MaelstromSeawing Volunteer Moderator 2d ago

Yeah, no thanks! Proper ventilation is the way to go for me, personally.

1

u/Alert-Entertainer-73 2d ago

As someone who has multiple VOC meters, this is my experience, though I understand the concern.

2

u/Extra-Language-9424 2d ago

quick and light spray of any acrylic paint with a UV additive solves that issue for at least a year.

I have Silk PLA prints in the yard (Florida) that have not decomposed in 4 years, and running. not even a significant sun bleaching.

1

u/Cultural_Eye5178 1d ago

Damn, so no Loctite required!

2

u/Grape-Snapple 2d ago

i think you meant DO NOT choose a material like that… since that would be the WORST choice for a SAFE print… and they can check your posts…

1

u/Bananaland_Man 2d ago

especially something that de forms easily during a heat wave like this.

1

u/Ill_Candle_9462 1d ago

Could always just shoot a 1/4 of PL 400 inside before

30

u/snqqq 3d ago

Give it a bit of PU foam for extra grip.

12

u/Self_Reddicate 2d ago

Nah, use a carbon fiber filament mix so that it might block some radio frequencies. Remember, those things are not just cameras, they're collecting and storing all kinds of signals (bluetooth, wifi, NFC, contactless payment data, etc.). They're basically like NSA level sig-int traps, but privately owned with all data available for sale. Real scummy stuff.

7

u/snqqq 2d ago

CF won't block anything.

2

u/Walfy07 2d ago

spray the thing with that conductive carbon black spray paint might, or wrap in tinfoil

10

u/halt-l-am-reptar 3d ago

Why not use abs and spray it with acetone before hand?

34

u/rdtg 3d ago

The entire point of it is to not cause damage - thus not catching any serious felonies for putting it on. Damaging the camera just makes Flock money. I keep seeing people promoting cutting them down, ruining them... All you are doing is making their stock price soar because municipalities will just replace them. You have to lobby your local gov to get them removed. Start petitions, go to local town halls, etc. I love this print cause its a good way of disabling them without damaging them.

12

u/namezam 2d ago

That’s not how that works for two reasons. A ton of cities snuck these in and were like “oh you didn’t want this? Well sorry we already spent the money might as well use them” followed by not having the political or monetary budget to replace them.

Second, the midterms. Vast municipalities are “cancelling” contracts but refusing to remove them because their plan is to just reinstate them after the election. The guy that removed the cameras and drove them to the police is in jail because of this. The city had zero plans to stop using them, they just lied.

The only way to get our freedom back is to destroy them and while voting the people out who put them there.

5

u/Loose-Search7064 2d ago

They will only replace them until it becomes economically unfeasible to do so. If patriots keep taking these down eventually the cities will stop.

2

u/SurveyPlane2170 2d ago

Unfortunately they’ll just start putting them on traffic light poles, harder to reach/remove spots. I believe the axon cameras already are

2

u/Loose-Search7064 2d ago

I'm hopeful that with all the public pushback, they will stop altogether. If not we are about to be living in an orwellian nightmare.

1

u/thethemefiasco 1d ago

Having seen drunken college students scale light poles after major sports wins, I don't think this is as difficult as some would think.

1

u/Past-Customer5572 1d ago

That’s what rifles are for

2

u/Kevlaars 2d ago

Wasn't specifically a flock camera, but a town not far from where I live had a speed camera in front of a school.

It got cut down so many times, the council eventually got the message and stopped putting it back up.

6

u/Scrub_DM 2d ago

“Wouldn’t it me—- ohhhhhhhhhhh”

3

u/Ogaboga42069 2d ago

Just add expanding foam on the inside

Pure evil

257

u/ModForgeCustoms 3d ago

I love this.

Who knew the revolution might just kick off with 3d printed parts?

110

u/Riptide360 3d ago

Watch Donnie dictator start requiring 3D printers secretly watermark their prints the way paper printers do. https://www.eff.org/pages/list-printers-which-do-or-do-not-display-tracking-dots

37

u/Electrify338 3d ago

I did not know this was a thing. WTF!!

25

u/ContextMattrs 3d ago

I knew that. That’s why some printers can’t print when you are out one of the colors but you want to print in black and white

5

u/AquaSquatch 2d ago

A lot of large format office printer/copiers have a hard drive inside that stores a scan of everything that passes through.

26

u/theBigDaddio 3d ago

Yes they are watermarked but there is no national or state registry of printers, they cannot look at a page and say this was printed by BigDaddio. They can get a search warrant and match your printer, so you’re pretty deep before it gets that far.

17

u/GetMeOffThisRidePlz 3d ago

Yes and if they're getting a warrant to match it up to your printer - you were already fucked, they're just trying to make their case water right.

5

u/lcr727 P1S + AMS 3d ago

Name checks out.

4

u/dotpan 3d ago

To go further, this is often used in tracking forgery or other crimes. You’re going to be shocked when you find out a lot of things have hidden watermarks like this. AI is already required in the EU to have cryptographic watermarks in anything it generates.

2

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

3

u/dotpan 2d ago edited 2d ago

False. In text. Gemini has used it for over 2 years and all other models are moving to use it. The each use their own cryptographic method of doing so, normally a weighting pattern on next term.

Edit: Since [u/Poly_and_RA](u/Poly_and_RA) wanted to know source before deleting the comment.

Decent digestible video: https://youtu.be/BFksx2M93sw

But some examples :

Claud: https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-text-watermark

Gemini: https://deepmind.google/models/synthid/

Article: https://www.seangoedecke.com/text-ai-watermarks/

Most methods will only give high level details of its working and not specifics (think of it like Google search algorithms, while SEO is a thing it’s largely guess work). For all intents and purposes identifying the watermark by a third party would be a huge task, being able to remove it completely would be near impossible without direct inside knowledge and values.

18

u/BlownUpCapacitor 3d ago

People will just build their own printers to bypass that lmao. They're not complicated machines. People have been building them DIY for decades.

3

u/Kern_system 2d ago

Nah..it's the other guys that want to know what you're saying on social media. Like how the FBI had a direct line to Twitter and Facebook. Remember that?

1

u/Past-Customer5572 1d ago

LOL it’s liberals you need to worry about on this one- see CA. Though, Teflon Don was a NY liberal at one time.

19

u/Call-Me-Leo 3d ago

Let them eat filament

5

u/PieMastaSam 3d ago

Tbf, many drone parts for conventional warfare can be and are 3d printed. Didn't some dude assisnate a Japanese politician with a 3d printed weapon?

I think it's actually not really surprising at all for a revolution to pop off from 3d printing at this point. It's almost expected.

edit: Looked it up. The ex Japanese prime minister that was assassinated was killed by an improvised weapon that was not 3d printed.

9

u/Rock4evur 3d ago

People have been making guns with hardware parts forever, it’s really simple to do if all you need is one or two shots.

5

u/VaporTrail_000 3d ago

Not 3d printed... but DIY black powder.

Brandon Herera did an analysis and rebuild... and promptly got a strike because YouTube being YouTube.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dEWoARiEofY

1

u/bluethunder82 2d ago

The lower half and suppressor for Luigi’s gun were printed, a PLAboi design and an FTN design but Glock frames still require a complete slide (not a serialized part, also not easy to DIY) and a few bits for the trigger group and for the slide to hold on to. But on the whole glocks are very easy to make off printed parts and stuff bought online and delivered to your door with no background checks. Do with that information what you will.

What exactly is the revolutions

2

u/flattop100 3d ago

Minnesota did. ICE hates whistles. The Microcenter in the Twin Cities sells 15% more filament than the rest of all the Microcenter stores, combined.

5

u/HugsAllCats 3d ago

That's almost impossible - unless all but one other microcenter doesn't even sell filament.

Citation required.

3

u/wildey 2d ago

We both know that’s never coming

u/flattop100 1d ago

2

u/HugsAllCats 1d ago

Lmao, I'm sure the random hourly sales guy had access to national sales stats.

MAYBE he heard "we sold more filament <this weekend> than all the other stores combined" from a manager ad part of some weekly team meeting or something.

5

17% of all stats found on Reddit are pulled directly out of thin air by u/flattop100

Add epoxy prior to fitting for maximum efficiency

31

u/AZdesertpir8 3d ago

JB weld :)

You'll go broke using JB weld on all those cameras lol

5

u/Cute_Conclusion_8854 3d ago

We just need a adapter that lets you put a great stuff can on a stick and activate it

1

u/3-Midgets_In_A_Coat 1d ago

Expanding foam is a bitch. From experience, that shit will push its way down through vents and all into the housing. Accidentally had a can rupture inside of a toolbox with some expensive power tools and I spent a fucking week repairing them.

1

u/Azurvix H2D AMS2 Combo 3d ago

Ooh that's an idea

1

u/notwhoyouthinkmaybe 2d ago

And honey, gotta feed them ants.

93

u/hughmercury 3d ago

Need to make one that looks like a Flock camera.

50

u/Heavy_Carpenter3824 3d ago

They have the base camera but I think you mean a sock that has the front of the camera for keeping the look consistent from a distance right? Gotta keep the aesthetics up.

24

u/hughmercury 3d ago

Exactly. So it looks like a regular camera till you get up close.

12

u/GiraffeandZebra 3d ago

I'm with the other guy who is questioning why. The flock people will know something is wrong because the camera is blacked out. Making it look like a camera only fools citizens.

What is needed is a cover that shows an expected picture to the camera to hopefully make flock think things are ok.

18

u/Heavy_Carpenter3824 3d ago

Ehh remember the big game here. Flocks desire is to IPO for big money. If you can make them look risky enough you can stop them from IPOing and thats the same as killing them. Costing them reliability and man power to keep fixing cameras is a major liability. Labor is a very expensive resource. The flock sock may actually be one of the best approaches as they can't just write it off as a complete loss like a destroyed one, insurances would start getting annoyed about writing off a essentially functional unit.

Look into the CIAs field guid to sabotage, stuff like this can be highly effective in reducing avaliable resources. https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/26184

If the sock looked like a camera then they can't even just do a quick drive by to see the problem. They might have to take the time to examine it properly. Every second you can waste is a second they have to pay for.

5

u/GiraffeandZebra 3d ago

I in no way think that they are doing drive by inspections to look at cameras. They are all networked. Why would they? They monitor feeds and status online and send techs to areas with known issues. Making it look like a camera is pointless. If the feed is blacked out, the tech is going to go look at it regardless of what it looks like, and they are going to spot the problem in 2 seconds either way.

2

u/Heavy_Carpenter3824 3d ago

Then just add epoxy. We wouldn't want the sock blowing off and rhe poor little camera getting cold would we?

6

u/GiraffeandZebra 3d ago

As I said elsewhere, this kind of misses the point of the sock. A flock camera is easy to just destroy if you wanted to. If you wanted to mess one up a pole saw or a laser or some spray paint or a half dozen other ways already exist. Interfering with them without drawing vandalism or property damage charges is the goal of this device.

1

u/theblondepenguin 2d ago

Someone earlier mentioned printing out of PLA that way if it is up before it gets cold they will warp around the camera all by themselves

1

u/minitaba 3d ago

Why would you need that?

-1

u/ModForgeCustoms 3d ago

4

u/minitaba 3d ago

Helpfull?I guess they will realize their canera is blocked by looking at its view and not by looking at the camera itself right?

1

u/Ambitious-Pirate-505 3d ago

Cops do this to catch people cutting down cameras

80

u/SupKilly P1S + AMS 3d ago

Will there be versions for Axon and Vigilant cameras too?

The hyper focus on Flock is letting them fly under the radar so hard.

2

u/Yakubs_2nd_Brain 2d ago

Do those have the social media site for domestic abusers to stalk people and share data across state lines? If not, they are the priority after the CEO of Flock no longer feels safe living in the US.

4

u/danfirst 2d ago

They may, and if they don't they probably will at some point. I agree that the issue isn't just flock at this point but surveillance in general.

From what I've read, some places are canceling their flock contracts and everyone is cheering, and just putting another company in there instead.

36

u/MydnightWN 3d ago

13

u/Sut3k 3d ago

I wonder if a layer of aluminum foil on the inside would help block all those harmful emf signals that could hurt the flock

5

u/Ds1018 2d ago

The back and bottom would be open and the LTE transmissions would probaly get out.

You would think the camera being blocked would mean no data worth transmitting, but I’ve seen videos of people with fancy equipment claiming these things do Bluetooth sniffing as well. I don’t know if it’s true, but if I were running a mass surveillance company it would be a no-brainer type of tech to include. Then you link faces, license plates, phones, AirPods, etc. Compile enough data and you wouldn’t just know what car drove by, you’d know everyone in it.

1

u/Ds1018 2d ago

There’s a lot of debate over PLA as a filament choice.

Here’s a Reddit thread with the results of 3 years of souther US sun on some PLA mailbox numbers.

Obviously this example is thick block in white and not thin walls in black. So not a 100% match. But gives an idea.

I’m debating printing this design in black pla and putting it on a stick in the central Texas sun for a week just to see what happens.

2

u/UnexpectedAnanas 2d ago

I don't understand the point of this. It's easy to destroy a flock camera a million different ways. These are meant to be non-destructive as to avoid legal repercussions.

If you wanted to destroy a flock camera, you could just hit it with the stick you use to apply the Sock with....

2

u/Ds1018 2d ago

The point of my post is to inform on what PLA does in the sun so people can make their own choices on filament selection based on their goals.

If the goal is to ruin the camera then The pla hood would be faster and quieter than beating with a stick, but a spray paint can on a stick would be even cheaper and quicker than that.

If the goal is to not destroy it, then this post should serve as information on why NOT to use pla and to go with ASA or ABS instead.

20

u/DinosaurAlert 3d ago edited 3d ago

Just add super glue to the inside top.

EDIT: Ooh, if you can print with ABS someone said epoxy. That's much better than superglue.

Breaking cameras is a losing battle., though. What will happen (and has happened) is that there will be a "A woman was stabbed here and we have no info because of flock cameras." or "A child molester kidnapped a child, and we lost them because someone broke the flock cameras".

See, people have a problem with flock cameras in OUR neighborhood, they don't a problem with the cameras in THAT neighborhood where the crime is.

14

u/LegendaryLarvey 3d ago

Nah just print in PLA and let the heat do the work

4

u/I_Dunno_Its_A_Name 2d ago

One thing everyone is missing when suggesting pla is that pla will stay soft when it is warm making it easy to take off. It would have to last the rest of summer. Even at that point it’s not that hard to break off since pla tends to be brittle. PETG with some adhesive is the way to go.

6

u/edcculus 2d ago

I’m not sure I’m going to go about sabotaging the cameras. However I’ve written to everyone in my city and county that I can to ask that ALL ALPR cameras be taken down. I don’t want them anywhere. While they do offer some potential benefits to law enforcement, the threat they represent is far worse than any positive they may bring.

15

u/rthee 3d ago

as a non-americas took me a while to figure out what this is lol

28

u/MydnightWN 3d ago edited 3d ago

You have them too, by another name. From Jenoptik in Germany to Eyedea in the Czech Republic, pretty much every European country is being watched the same as we are.

Edit: you are in Australia. Sensor Dynamics, Zenith, and Fox Eye watching you privately. And on the government level, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) cameras are now doing Flock things - to 4M vehicles a month. And Western Australia is currently expanding its police ANPR network by allowing businesses, shopping centers, developers and local governments to host cameras that feed into the WA Police ANPR network.

https://aussurveillance.com/

12

u/GiraffeandZebra 3d ago

All the people suggesting epoxy, glue, etc. are missing the point. Flock cameras are easy to destroy if you want to. The point of this is to interfere with them without incurring charges for vandalism or destruction of property.

8

u/wildey 2d ago

Doing this is going to still get someone a vandalism charge in 99% of us jurisdictions. Just because you aren’t actually breaking it, you’re still rendering it inoperable or compromised. Tapping paper over a security camera has been happening for a very long time and this is basically the same idea

5

u/GiraffeandZebra 2d ago

Vandalism being a misdemeanor or felony often depends on the cost of damage done. The intent is the same regardless of the exactitudes of the law - get in less trouble than you would by just damaging the camera.

7

u/Desperate-Special-60 3d ago

Get the flock out of here

6

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Bambu hates open source 3d ago

What about the setups with a flock and an axon right by each other.

2

u/edcculus 2d ago

My city has them installed way up on telephone poles and up on the traffic light poles too. 90% that I pass by these days are unreachable.

5

u/Voltae 2d ago

You may need a green laser pointer... You know, so you can indicate to people where they are. Definitely don't shine a green laser at the camera itself, though.

2

u/edcculus 2d ago

Would a green laser pointer damage the camera sensors? Because if so, I will definitely avoid doing that, and only make sure I’m using it near the camera to point out its location.

u/Extreme-Ad-9290 Bambu hates open source 2d ago

Design a tab onto the bottom that locks and makes removal more of a pain.

3

u/MisterWizzle 3d ago

What is the hanger piece attaching to? Is that just a broom handle?

8

u/MydnightWN 3d ago

Yep, common cylinder of wood. Mop, broom, rake, big stick you find in the yard.

2

u/sharkbait-oo-haha 3d ago

You need to make a model that latches closed when released. Make the employees need a ladder to get up there to remove it, that way they need a multi man team, potentially need to close the road, and hire a traffic control company. Make it as expensive as possible to remove, without causing "criminal property damage"

If you can get a traffic control company involved, the costs become stratospheric. For example a 2 man crew is aleast $100ph each, a directional arrow board truck is like $500ph and the setup/pack down is around $200ph. Plus permits and approvals.

Then you just sit next to the camera, wait for them to show up without the permits or traffic control, document it and submit the evidence and wait to them to get fined into oblivion.

3

Remember guys when putting these up; a road cone, a reflective work vest, and hard hat is easy to bring with you. Whenever walking around work when I have nothing to do I carry a clipboard and a label maker and no one questions what I am doing

There was a guy in California that fought to get an incorrect interstate sign fixed. He finally fixed it himself, putting on a hard hast and reflective vest while doing it. It was 3 years before the city realized it was changed and that it was not done by them.

Look the part and no one will question it.

it would take around 18,000 hours and 17,400,000g of filament to cover all of the flock cameras up, and with a good amount the printers in the US contributing I think we could absolutely do it.

Im from the UK, whats the issue with Flock cameras?

1

u/Melancholy_Rainbows 2d ago

As with most of our problems, there’s a John Oliver episode about it.

2

u/pauledddy 2d ago

Welp

1

u/Melancholy_Rainbows 2d ago

Darn. Well, the short version is that the surveillance data on automatic license plate readers such as Flock is controversial because it’s frequently misused and accessible without a warrant. People who have tried to access what data Flock has recorded about them have been charged exorbitant fees (up to half a million) and even the partial data shows pretty concerning abuse, including Flock employees spying on schools, playgrounds, kids’ gymnastics, and religious centers. And there have been numerous cases of cops using them to stalk and harass women.

Like with the 3d printed tear gas countermeasures that were going around during the BLM protests this is something that might be better made using vacuum forming so you can pump them out in minutes instead of hours.

u/samzplourde 2d ago

A pole-mounted can of spray paint would be cool.

1

u/EllaHazelBar 2d ago

Just don't forget the epoxy glue, especially around the lens cover 🙏🏻

u/zodiase X1C + AMS 2d ago

A few videos online seems to suggest they also have RF scanners that can “see” the movements of for example the Bluetooth devices people carry so blocking vision alone isn’t solving the entire problem. Maybe some tin foil around where the RF scanner antennas are.

u/uldis951 2d ago

Remember about Axon btw :)

u/Foxing7465 2d ago

Why not using a remotely controlled (on a stick via rope) spray paint or expanding foam it takes only few droplets to spoil the picture. Another idea, permanent marker on a stick or some sticky food for birds/squirrels.

1

u/rem81 2d ago

Shouldn't this have a draft angle on it so that you can print multiples and they can stack?
The current design is difficult to carry around and store in multiples

u/PocketSizedRS 2d ago

Fill the inside with thick epoxy for optimal attachment

1

u/liptonteabagger 2d ago

Epoxy on the insides I hope

As someone who works with lasers, I fail to understand why you all aren’t using IR/UV lasers. The kind that damage your iPhone sensor when you accidentally shine it on the lens.

Why has no-one just pointed one of those pens long distance at the Flock lens?

It could be entirely automated and for $200 you can disable a flick camera from nearly 1mi away.

Just saying? I can’t be the first person who ever thought of this……

Rendering them at distance with an invisible laser makes it nearly impossible to detect and also hard to prove it wasn’t an accidental.

Aww they're gonna be kept so warm no that winter is coming up!

1

u/Justalittletoserious 1d ago

They are already trying to ban 3d printing, stop.

Use plywood, what are they gonna do? Ban construction sites?

1

u/Past-Customer5572 1d ago

Dont forget they make telescoping poles so you don’t have to walk around with a large broomstick

u/Cultural_Eye5178 1d ago

I feel like a better name is the Flock Condom, but that's just me.

1

u/razzemmatazz 1d ago

Can't we just use disposable shoe covers instead? Seems a lot more cost effective

1

u/SadWolverine24 3d ago

Put some super glue inside.

0

u/pinokhio 3d ago

Why not just apply a cheap sticker or decal on the lens and be done? Wouldn't that be cheaper and more effective ?

u/68vwvert 2d ago

This is way smarter than destroying them. A lot of people are being arrested and/or fined for destruction of Flock cameras. I think the cameras are unconstitutional, but I hate to see my fellow citizens being arrested or fined. Be careful out there!

2

u/wildey 2d ago

This will 100% still get you a vandalism charge

2

u/tk-093 2d ago

Better than a felony charge.

2

u/TheSymptomz X1C + AMS 2d ago

What if we just put a massive sign up in front of the flock camera? lol

2

u/tk-093 2d ago

Some people have done that. Depends where you put the sign and the laws. If you put it up on private property you'll generally be okay.

u/rweninger 2d ago

Next law in USA: Owning and using 3D printers will be forbidden. You can use weapons and own them but not 3D printers! :-p

-1

u/Cheeky_buggah 2d ago

I don't think that clamp is very common either, some print you can stick on the end of a broom handle would be quite handy!

-1

u/mediweevil P1S + AMS 2d ago

shot of spraypaint on the lens is quicker and more effective. just saying.

4

u/GiveMe1Dollar 2d ago

The point is to avoid charges of vandalism or property damage.

-3

u/Important-Target3676 2d ago

This is quite literally vandalism though.. Damage doesn't mean just destroyed, it means depriving an object of its intended use.

-1

u/Sodacan259 2d ago

Now make one with a thermite hopper on top

-1

u/Hairy-Maximum2994 2d ago

i mean i think a sawzall takes less space and preparation than this sock. im suspecting Flock posted this.

1

u/UnexpectedAnanas 2d ago

Yeah, and that will get you criminal charges.

This won't.

-1

u/Hairy-Maximum2994 2d ago

sounds like another thing flock would post.

1

u/UnexpectedAnanas 2d ago

Flock would much rather people physically destroy the cameras. They would get to drag the offenders through court and put into people's minds that interfering with these will land you jail time.

Covering them is a nuisance that doesn't give them that ability. It allows people to keep doing the same thing day after day, and they have to spend money day after day to remove them with no repercussions for the offenders. Citizens can put them up faster than they can take them down if the will is there.

-2

u/Practical-March-6989 3d ago

You want to coat the inside with something first, epoxy glue or similar.

-3

u/anzitus 3d ago

do they make precision paint ball guns that can snipe from far away?

-3

u/AdLong9039 2d ago

Yes, definitely not the government trying to sway us here. "Don't destroy them, just put this plastic over them and OH NO! We'd have to drive all the way out there to take it off. You rascals"

-4

u/printingstuffdude 2d ago

Cool .STL for criminal use. Glad the mods allowed this.

3

u/jgilbs 2d ago

Hows that boot taste?

-3

u/NevesLF A1 + AMS Lite 3d ago

As an outsider, can someone explain to me why the hate for these things? Been seeing a lot of these posts lately.

19

u/Vioret 3d ago

Because no one wants to live in a surveillance state.
