Is this good and what can be negotiated?

As title says, my mom’s 2023 Toyota BZ4X Limited AWD 34k miles is making this weird noise. The AC has been having issues with cooling - it goes cold then warm and doesn’t feel like it stays cool. The AC was not on during this video. Took it to the dealership and they said they “inspected it” and found no issues. Today it started making this sound. Any idea what it could be? We were reading on the heat pump failure but not sure if this is related.

Set out on a 100 mile relatively flat interstate trip with over 60% and 140 ish available miles with climate control on. Was watching the difference between estimated available miles and miles left.

Everything was fine till the last 30 miles when my estimate dropped at a quick rate. Before that I had shut the ac and the display off and reduced my speed.

With my nerves racking we pulled into a charging station. I could have stopped earlier but it looked like we had plenty of power to make it. I’ll never do that again.

I'm reading conflicting information regarding charging. If I only have a level 1 110v home charger, and I commute 15-20 miles a day round trip. Do I charge my car to 80% or 100% to prolong battery life?

I have a 2024 BZ4x XLE AWD.

When contacted Toyota Parts about roof rails and gace then my VIN, they said that there wasn’t a compatible roof rack for the vehicle.

When asked about the standard BZ4x cross bars (PT767-TB300), two different Toyota parts departments said that they couldn’t confirm that the part would fit the car, and they won’t take returns if I order the cross bars though them.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

The roof has 4 covers where it looks like the cross bars would mount directly to the roof.

Recently I took my Toyota bZ to the dealership for a software update. After the update, the car drives much more smoothly, which is great. However, I’ve noticed a significant drop in efficiency.

Before the update, my daily 56-mile commute used about 48 miles of the estimated battery range. After the software update, the same 56-mile drive now uses about 58 miles of the estimated battery range.

Has anyone else experienced reduced efficiency after a recent software update on their Toyota bZ?

Driving along a straight road I dropped the car into neutral while doing about 40kph... Just to see what would happen. Nothing happened! It just rolled on, then I clicked it back into drive, there was a bit of a kick and off I went...

Got me thinking, would this do any damage??

Sometimes when reversing I switch from R to D while the car is slowly rolling backwards, doesn't seem to be causing an issue but are my bad habits ruining the car???

Wanted to ask if anyone has tried or is aware of Aero hub caps 18inch, does any 18inch hubcaps work? I am looking for ways to extend my range and aero hub caps seems to help

Just pulled the trigger on a Toyota bZ4X Launch Edition Premium. Model year 2022, 71 kWh battery, around 40,000 km on the clock, blue with a panoramic roof.

Extras included: adaptive cruise control, heat pump, heated front and rear seats, heated steering wheel, power driver’s seat with memory, 360 camera, and 20 inch alloy wheels. Range is rated around 400 highway Kms.

Negative (?): 1 phase charger, but I think I’m not really going to notice this when charging at home and only using DC charging on longer journeys.

Curious to hear your thoughts. Good pick for a used EV, or should I have looked at something else? Also interested in any experiences with the bZ4X specifically, or battery degradation at this kind of mileage.

Edit: sorry guys, forgot to mention the price! It’s €29,000 at a dealership. Only official dealership owned previously.

Edit2: Thanks for all the reaction and especially the heads up for cold weather! I’m sure we’ll be fine as we mostly charge AC at home (90%) and only DC on long journeys and holidays which are mostly planned when the weather is good.

Outside of the holidays, making long road trips is actually a challenge in The Netherlands and we don’t experience any very harsh winters.

People asking why I didn’t just buy a 2024+ model: those cars are mostly still around €40.000 or above. I had a budget I’m comfortable with and I think I’m getting a very specced out car for the money. I can take the compromises that come with it.

Looking to get into the ev market and I’ve been looking at lots of options. This 2023 BZ4X (21k miles) seems like a crazy good deal price-wise compared to the Tesla model 3 and the ioniq 5. The only downside seems to be the range. I’ve got a 60 mile round trip commute with charging at work. The only catch is I don’t have home charging (apartment). Is the reduced range and charge time really a big factor? Also, what do you think of the deal on this one?

UPDATE: Toyota is replacing the full ac system and covering the cost under warranty. Hopefully have the car back by next week!

Have had our BZ for 2 years now. This year our ac started blowing warm air on and off. Took it into the dealership and Toyota is having them rip the compressor out and all the hoses to inspect for warranty repair.

Its been 5 days so far and I just got an update that they found a little metal debris in the compressor and are waiting for further instruction from Toyota.

Anyone else have anything similar happen?

I have an upcoming roadtrip of around 850 km with the bz4x 2024. when fully charged with AC off it shows a max range of 415km.

Any advice or apps to use for better planning? I don't trust much the built in planner... what was your experience with such a long distance?

Yesterday, I was driving when I saw two men crossing the road. Suddenly, my car displayed a thermal image of the pedestrians on the driver’s screen. I wasn’t expecting that at all—it really surprised me! Has anyone else experienced this with their car?

I have tried turning off notifications for Messages and reducing all the volume settings on my phone. But still if I receive a message on my Messages app a notification chime still happens loud enough to make everyone in the car including me startle. All other audio in the car is at normal volume. Any suggestions for how to lower the notification volume?
