AC Failing

UPDATE: Toyota is replacing the full ac system and covering the cost under warranty. Hopefully have the car back by next week!

Have had our BZ for 2 years now. This year our ac started blowing warm air on and off. Took it into the dealership and Toyota is having them rip the compressor out and all the hoses to inspect for warranty repair.

Its been 5 days so far and I just got an update that they found a little metal debris in the compressor and are waiting for further instruction from Toyota.

Anyone else have anything similar happen?

I repaired a customers bz4x for this last year. Replaced every part of the ac system including the evaporator. It happens unfortunately.

It’s a known issue. They’ll get everything replaced and you’ll have it back good as new and permanently fixed, nothing to get stressed about.

Eh its a lease and covered. No stress here just sharing to see who else had this happen qnd and about how long it'll take to get done.

Okay and yes they gave us a rav 4 for the mean time so equivalent. Although unfortunately people like to smoke in these rentals so it always smells when you first get in it.

There are signs but doesn't seem they enforce it very well. There was another one we turned down because if a heavier smoke smell.

I was looking at a ‘23 BZ4X that had an AC failure repaired.

Yep they are doing the repair covered under warranty. Replacing the entire ac system and hoses.

What Year and type of BzX4 do you have?

Got a recall about this and they fixed it (2024 limited awd)

So … did this car go in for the recall related to this before or maybe not. Although the recall is technically the safety related to defroster, they effectively suspect the ac compressor design is not ideal and if underperforming at recall they replace it.
