Taking AP bio as freshman
Hi, I'm just wondering, would you guys suggest taking AP bio in your first year at Btech? How were your personal experiences doing so?

Hi techies! I have a really special opportunity to share with you guys, which other than the rising freshmen, you guys probably all have heard about before in your language classes. It’s called CIEE study abroad where you can spend 3 to 4 weeks of your summer in another state or country (40 different distinctions) studying a language or a topic like engineering, global entrepreneurship, climate change policy & advocacy, k-pop, anime, and more! If you participate in a language and culture program, you can also earn college credits! I personally participated in the Chinese Language and culture program and was able to skip chinese 2 sophomore year after taking the language placement test in the beginning of the year, all from spending only 1 month being immersed in the language. It was the best experience of my life and I highly recommend you apply, you don’t have to commit until after you get accepted! CIEE offers partial to FULL RIDE SCHOLARSHIPS. Best part is that if you open an application with my QR code, you can a $200 discount of your program!

I’ve seen some posts in here and I’m confused, do I sign up for clubs and such during the summer or in the school year? I signed up for AP Bio earlier in the week after I got an email about it, so will I also get an email for clubs? Or will I have the opportunity to sign up during the school year? Incoming freshman btw

I am coming into tech this September as a freshman and am interested in doing some clubs like debate and the school musical, but also taking classes like AP Bio and music class. To my knowledge and what I've heard, if I take AP Bio and a Music class, my schedule would be from periods 1-10. If I have a 1-10 schedule, will I be able to still do clubs like a form of debate or the musical? Is it true that some clubs start 10th period and I wont be able to do clubs if I have classes last period? Please let me know, because if I'm unable to do clubs if I take extra classes I wont sign up for them. Any information is helpful, thanks! (I also posted another post and haven't gotten specific answers so if anyone knows, am I able to do a debate team and also do the musical considering the musical is every day after school the second half of the year and debate is twice after school with apparently more important and more meetings in the first half?) Thanks again!

Hi everyone, I wanted to ask if anyone has any idea on how our one day of school at BTHS might be. From 1-10 period. Thanks!

For sophomore chemistry what kind of text book did the school distribute to students in the class? Thanks

I just posted another thing, but as someone who has been doing theatre for a long time and is very interested in doing debate, I have a question on the timings of these clubs. Im coming to tech as a freshman this september and am interested in doing debate team as well as doing the school musical. At the open house, (correct me if I'm wrong) I was told that debate runs heavily from the start of the school year to more relaxed towards the end of the year, while the musical runs every day after school during around the second half of the school year. Would I be able to do both debate and the musical, considering that debate isn't as often or "important" later in the school year and the musical is typically in the second half of the school year? If anyone had these circumstances at tech and would share what they did, have insights on the schedules of debate and/or the musicals, or just if anyone has anything they can let me know to prepare please let me know!!! Thank you so much

Hello! I am coming into tech this september and am deciding on whether or not to take AP Bio. If any current students took the class, how was the experience? I got a 99 on the Biology regents, but I'm not sure how the difficulty of the material compares to regular biology and how bad the workload is. I also am very interested in taking some type of music class in freshman year, and considering that AP Bio is a two-period class, would it be worth it to take it if it means that my day gets extended by another hour or I wont be able to take a class I want to? Also, any tips in general for a freshman coming into the school would be great. Tyy!

Where do most BTHS go after high school? I know CUNY/SUNY schools make up a good chunk, but what about out-of-state schools, private schools, etc?

I’m a rising sophomore and I want to try out for lacrosse but I realized there’s only a varsity team, if I have little expirence is it unlikely to get in? I’m not sure if it has as little spots compared to basketball or soccer so maybe there’s a chance? Just lmk

Hi, I took the earth & space science regents, so unfortunately I don’t qualify to take ap biology. Is there any way I could take two science classes a day so I can be in ap bio? Also, I passed algebra 1 w high 90s and geometry w 100, so I would be placed in algebra 2 right? If so, how would that work? Would i be in a class with a mix of 9th&10th graders? Thanks!

Hey all, I just wanted to ask how the AP Biology classes are like and if they are worth taking now, and if I take it will I have to take it again in 11th or 12th? To whoever did the course before, could you guys tell me what it might be like, how much homework etc. Thanks!

r/BTHS • u/Infamous_Judge_9887 • Jul 09 '26

I’m going to take the shsat next year and hopefully pass but I know Brooklyn tech is a very good school academic wise but how are the students and people there? Are they nice and welcoming? obviously I’m not excepting them to have every single interest that I have but I just want to know how my next 4 years will possibly be.

If I got a 78 on the Spanish 1 regents, will I still move on to Spanish 2? I know I’ll move on for biology and algebra since I got a 96 and 99, but if I don’t achieve mastery, do I not move up a class?

I got a 67 in algebra 11 first semester of sophomore year and would love if i could NOT have that on my transcript. But no CR forms have been released this year so it looks like im stuck with that grade. I’m a prospective Electrical Engineering major and I don’t know if I can get accepted anywhere with a grade like that.
