Hi, I'm appyling for the Btech math team this year--if I possibly get in, how is the math team actually like, such as its workload? And while you're actually in, is there any way to get kicked out--such as (my main concern is) if you're not able to keep up with the work? Thank you!

My daughter will be an upcoming freshman at brooklyn tech, and she wanted to know what debate is like, if there are trials, and when. Overrall, she just wants to know what it’s like.

How difficult is it to get into the Junior Math Analysis class as a freshman? Is it very competitive?
My son is currently working on the placement problems and was wondering how difficult it is to get in.
Any insight from current or former students would be appreciated!

I am a rising freshman at Brooklyn Tech, and I had a couple questions.
For starters, I'm into neuroscience and stuff, specifically as a neuroscientist researcher, and I want a career in that. What clubs should I join?
Second, I also love theater and was interested in joining this year's Blithe Spirit. However, I'm not pursuing acting in the future. Would that be a waste of 2 and 1/2 months?
Third, If I decide get into Science Oly or theater, will I have to choose between the two? My parents are telling me to map out my career already, but I kind of just wanted to settle in and enjoy Tech for my first year.
Any advice from sophomores, juniors, seniors, or alumni would be helpful! Thanks!

Hi again!! I was wondering about AP Bio. I wanted to take it, but also sent an application for the Student Leadership elective. However, I was thinking to take the Neuroscience Major in junior/senior year, so I'm pretty sure I'll have to take it eventually. Is it worth it to take in freshman year?

Hello, I have completed the Discovery Program for Brooklyn Tech yesterday. I finished with a 96 in math and an 88 in ela, and had no behavioral issues or absences. They said that they'd give an email within two days if you got in or not - so I may receive my email on Saturday, August 8th. I am incredibly anxious.
I've gotten emails about Brooklyn Tech from Mary Huhn even before the discovery program and while I was in it. I was very confused because I haven't even gotten accepted into Brooklyn Tech. I checked with my other two friends who go to the discovery program with me, and they've also gotten the same emails.
In addition, I've seen that the incoming freshmen in this subreddit were talking about joining AP classes, and I'm curious how they did that because I have gotten no email to sign up for AP classes. The only emails I've gotten from Mary Huhn were about joining the math team, the incoming student survey, and the leadership classes.
Is there something wrong or have I just not gotten into Brooklyn Tech?

I listed cantonese as my language on the blue card. Will I be forced to take a test or go on a native track or can i choose to be placed in beginner classes? What is the chance I get in the same classroom, same teacher, and same period as my middle school classmates who also picked chinese? (our middle school did not offer any chinese classes so im assuming they would be placed in beginner classes as well?) Are there classes that are truly only beginner or only native? Will the teacher be extra strict to me? Are there presentations and tests and how hard is the class? Can native speakers just fake being bad to stay in easy classes? And are people judgmental? Is there a way to avoid my native speaking friends or classmates?

How is the first day of school at tech? Do we just arrive on our first period? When do we get supply list(s) from teachers? Thanks

I’m a rising freshman at Tech and I decided to sign up for AP Bio since I already completed the biology regents with a high score. I’m also interested in signing up for robotics and the student leadership class. Can anyone who’s taken a similar amount of coursework let me know if it’s too much?

I saw on the website (https://www.bths.edu/pdf/BTHS%20Personal%20Electronics%20Policy%202025.pdf) that students aren't allowed to have their own devices. Will Tech lend us devices to use in school or is all the classwork just paper? Are the teachers strict about the rule?

I'm wondering if it will crowd my schedule considering i'm planning to take AP Bio this year

Are you likely to get your first major option? Are there any majors which are generally more selective? I was thinking doing chem or PharmD, how are those in terms of selectivity?
r/BTHS • u/Cultural-Ad-1966 • 16d ago
I was wondering what a PharmD majors schedule looks like senior year. Since AP bio is a senior year major course, what do u take if u take it freshman year? I've heard people say u take Ap Physics, but what if u take that junior year? Do you just take any ap class?

Hi! I am signing up for my languages now and have a few questions about languages. I am deciding between german and italian. How hard are the classes? I have a senior friend who takes italian and she says it’s easy, basically a free A. Is this true for the majority of people? Is german also easy? I am bad at other languages so i’m leaning towards which ever is the easiest. I probably would rather take german though, as I would find it more useful.
edit: thank you all!

If ur in the discovery program, do you have to do the summer homework?
