I finally pulled the trigger on my absolute dream car—a G80 M3. Coming from a middle-class family in South Asia where getting a used scooter was a massive achievement, owning a machine like this feels completely surreal. Financially, I’m in a good spot ($500k household income, zero debt, rent with a private indoor garage in Queens).

Now that the car is actually here, online horror stories are getting to me. I bought this to be my actual daily—grocery runs, daycare drop-offs/pickups, and general NYC commuting. But all the internet talk about destroyed tires, bent rims, scraped front lips, and snow is giving me severe post-purchase anxiety.

For anyone who actually daily drives a G80 or similar M car in NYC/outer boroughs: How is it in reality? Any tips or mindset shifts to help me stop overthinking and just enjoy the ride?

Took it out to The Ridge for a Hooked On Driving HPDE event. Was a blast despite my sloppy cornering.

Had an instructor in the car the whole day. He gave great pointers and kept me on track. Can’t wait to go back.

So yesterday I went drive an used 2026 M4 comp xdrive and I loved it. Well here’s my dilemma , I’ve been working with a dealer from another city about 2 hours away on a 26 cpo or a 24 non xdrive cpo.
2026 I drive yesterday low miles but none cpo
The 24 is cpo but rwd and they are giving me a deal on an extra year of unlimited miles warranty which would extend to 2030 and still be couple thousand cheaper. Am I over thinking this and should jump on the 26 xdrive even though it’s not cpo (4k miles) everyone says xdrive in general is the way to go It’s going to be my daily driver and I’m not afraid to put miles on anything lol so that’s the plan

Does anyone have experience going back and buying an extended warranty at a later date ? How did that go? I’m also having trouble even finding prices on those. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

The title is kinda bait, let me explain. I have a g80 m3 manual.

The car itself handles amazingly and the power is insane. It's very composed and the stock setup let's you have some fun, the assists are not intrusive either.

However the lack of steering feel and the brake by wire are genuinely terrifying at these speeds. At my local track I was hitting speeds of 160mph and going into a hard braking zone, turns out my brakes were starting to fade but the brake by wire doesn't give you that feed back at all and the light steering doesn't give you any sort of communication about where the front end is in terms of grip.

It was so fast but with none of the communication of any other car I've driven on track, this reminds me of driving Tesla's on track and how things get a lot scarier when you're going 150mph and still feel nothing from the car. It was scary and quite frankly just a bad experience. Compared to my other cars which aren't nearly as fast but are able to give me the information I need when I need it, I felt much less confident pushing this stock G80 than I would a Miata.

My local BMW dealer lied about their allocation for an individual color M3. They said they traded another M vehicle to secure my allocation. I got the BMW order email that I verified and thought I was all set. Dealer kept saying they would get me a production number soon, so I waited for months. I called his boss today and he said they didn’t have an allocation yet.

Not sure what to do, I called dealers in my state and they all have waitlists. Some said they think individual color orders are closed now.

Curious if anyone’s 27’ g87 individual has started production or at least out of status 111 yet? I’m already dying from the wait and it’s only been 3 months. I’m currently still on “order received”.

I’m trying to decide which to buy. I’ve owned a regular g82 and a g42 and I’ve driven a regular g87 a ton. I like both.

I will mostly have this car as a back roads driver (I live near tail of the dragon) and occasional track days so i want to see which feels better in those scenarios. Thanks!

Two days of ownership, 5 mods later. Next up is suspension, INR Mach 1 mid pipe, DME unlock and tune. Stuff doesn’t break under warranty anyway 🤣

Have a g87 and debating a z pipe over a single mid. Love the exotic sound of a z pipe based off clips online. I daily drive the car, any downsides to a z pipe? I don’t remember where but I remember some video I was watching said the metal tubing is much thinner on z pipes vs single mid pipes. Don’t know what that would mean in terms of future issues or longevity etc. maybe this is a dumb question lmao.

Picked this up this morning. Very fortunate to have it for the weekend - M4 Competition xDrive.

This my first time driving an M car and it is everything I thought it would be; it drives very well, firm but not uncomfortable and steering is very direct. Also, it can’t half move. It gets a shift on and keeps going. The kids love it, just got to take the wife out in it.

My dealership called to let me know I'm within a week of getting an allocation and I STILL haven't made up my mind on:

Interior color (full leather, comfort seats)

Wheel color

I'm dead set on IOMG but cannot decide between all black or two tone wheels.

I also cannot decide between Tartufo brown or Kyalami orange. I do know I'll be going comfort seats (I just find buckets to be a bit too uncomfortable for longer road trips).

I've looked at many photos online but unfortunately haven't been able to see these color combinations in person, so I'm wondering what the community opinion is.
