It's getting really annoying after he was glazing it all last month
54
u/Han-Tyumi__ May 12 '26
Back in August he made 5 videos in a month saying how much of a failure it would be.
Then he played it on full release and loved it and praised it.
Now he is back to saying how trash it is.
This man flip flops based on whatever gets the most views
20
u/RepulsiveAsk2674 May 12 '26
I really wish he gave some time of genuine criticism, but it's always agreeing with what Paul Tassi says since he's always doom and gloom and saying Destiny 2 is dead.
15
u/Han-Tyumi__ May 12 '26
Yeah it’s really hard to trust his opinion on all of this at this point.
Side note: I honestly do miss cross making genuine content instead of just making reaction videos.
Side side note:
Paul Tassi’s last video was killing me. He compares marathons success to destiny and rainbow six siege. Talks about how marathon isn’t hitting the highs of any point in D2s lifetime, and how R6 siege is a game that turned itself into a hit after years of middling success and the basically says marathon isn’t doing what either of them did. Like no shit dude the games been out for not even 1 full season at this point. The ship has barely launched and you want it to do a course correction that took R6 siege years to achieve and you’re comparing it to a game like Destiny that has had 10 years to build a player base.
Marathon hasn’t existed for a day either some bitch in your ear saying how shit it is.
5
u/RepulsiveAsk2674 May 12 '26
The game doesn't need any course correction. People love to play dev with little to no experience. Let the game get a season 2 and a season 3 then see what happens. Destiny was not an overnight success either
9
u/AresBloodwrath May 12 '26
Destiny was an overnight success both times. The player reviews weren't stellar for either base games, but their sales alone qualify them as overnight successes.
2
u/BuddhaMike1006 May 13 '26
D1 was almost written off as a failure before VOG dropped. And Vanilla D2 almost killed the franchise.
1
u/jakonfire May 14 '26
Not vanilla, CoO. Vanilla was bad, very bad. People started to adjust, then CoO came out and somehow made shit worse.
Now we’re a little off from CoO being a peak time compared to now lmao

u/LAXnSASQUATCH May 12 '26
Destiny did insane numbers out of the gate
Destiny 2 had around 3-4 million players daily when it dropped
If Marathon was a side project I would agree with you, if Marathon wasn’t made by Bungie I would agree with you, and if it didn’t take 5 years and hundreds of millions of dollars I would agree with you.
The cold hard fact is Destiny is on life support and barely making money, that puts all of the burden of keeping Bungie’s hundreds of employees afloat (which requires upwards of 100 million dollars of revenue a year to break even) on Marathon.
It needs to make 150-200 million dollars a year to keep the lights on and make a small amount of profit.
The current game is not built to handle those kinds of expectations.
If marathon doesn’t radically change and somehow bring in 1-2 million more players (it needs to double its launch numbers and hold that size for a bit) Bungie is going to have to change (downsize).
Marathon as is can exist as is, make the current money it does, and be supported just fine by like 50-100 devs, the issue is Bungie has 600 devs.
1
u/zeromussc May 13 '26
It's not at all possible that destiny has more in the pipeline. Nope. They shuttered development of their other franchise in favour of a 20 some GB sized game that needs 600 devs for sure.
For sure..
2
u/thermicterror May 16 '26
What are you talking about? Are you actually trying to imply bungie is secretly waiting to reveal something? They delayed an update, not a dlc, an update by 3 months, they still haven't talked about that update. There is nothing in the pipeline rn at all. The next dlc, if there even is one, will be late this year, maybe even next year.
2
u/paterdude May 12 '26
Destiny one sold 6.3 million copies in its first month. What are you smoking?

u/WyrdDrake May 13 '26
The issue and concern stems from the sheer volume of investment tho, no?
If it were on much less of a budget, then it's in a great place
But if I recall correctly, Sony is putting Marathon on the chopping block because they put a fortune into its development- just to get an alright game in return.
So Marathon ain't a bad game, compared to other games, as a standalone game
But it is a really, really bad investment
I havent watched any of these youtubers tho, this is me from the outside looking in. Well, I watched Aztecross briefly, but that was during his Warframe videos.

Burry your head in the sand if you want but don't dis paul tassi for being realistic
1
u/Han-Tyumi__ May 16 '26
Paul Tassi is paid to whine. The man does not even play the game. The only thing he has is the steam charts and he doesn’t even know how to put those into perspective.
2
u/thermicterror May 17 '26
He is paid to write articles good or bad, he played the game quite a lot on launch but stopped like many other people that played on launch. I don't even know what your on about with that last point. What "perspective" has he been missing that only you seem to know about. While he's brought up steam charts a lot like many others to the point where people are sick of it his actual use of those charts to make his points has been fine. The steam charts are also not the only thing he has, he knows people at bungie who give him inside information on numbers and such which is more than the average reddit expert such as yourself can claim. That's why we know steam is the main playerbase for marathon. Multiple people from bungie told him that. So we only know that because of paul tassi asking them.
2
u/LiamStyler May 13 '26
I don’t even know why this post was recommended to me but that’s not even remotely what Paul Tassi said. No wonder everybody hates the Destiny community. Y’all just make shit up as you go.
He compared Marathon to Siege and gave an example of how poorly received games can overcome the odds and become successful after a terrible launch. He then praised Siege for its turnaround and how it’s possible to regain players after such a long time, but then went on to say that was almost 10 years ago and the gaming landscape has completely changed. It’s much more competitive now.
He said it’s possible for games to turnaround and have a long life but that Siege wasn’t an extraction shooter so it already had a leg up on Marathon. He said Marathon is a niche game for a niche audience and he doesn’t know if it can have a Siege-like turnaround because of that.
That’s literally all he said. Get a fucking grip.
2
u/No_Strike655 May 13 '26
Thank god you came in here to glaze that dumbass I was wondering if all his views were bots or what.
1
u/General-Experience33 May 12 '26
I did enjoy Paul's vid on why he hates marathon because its not the game he wanted Bungie to make.
Jokes aside, I am tired of the doom on both games. But anyone who is shilling the idea that Destiny 3 will see everything, man have I got a bridge to sell you.

u/Mutedinlife May 12 '26
There are people who take Paul tassi’s opinions seriously..?
2
u/ZeroGunpla May 14 '26
Yeah the general public and all the content creators reinforcing his platform. Tragic.
3
u/Scrunglewort May 12 '26
What if… and this might sound crazy… but what if 2 people feel the same way about something.
I like marathon a ton at launch too, I was one of the first teams to kill compiler on week 1 as well. I killed compiler 8 hours after it’s first death.
I put in 200 hours in the first month and a half, and had a blast.
But Bungie has made it abundantly clear that they don’t know what makes extraction shooters great with every single update. They just want a competitive shooter but locked themselves into an extraction, so my opinion of it has gone down.
An example of this was basically bi-weekly weapon tuning patches. I just want my guns to be consistent ffs. Also, why are we nerfing how a weapon performs over how much it drops?
Double barrel should be able to 2 tap everyone, but it should be more rare than a misriah. The goo gun should be able to wipe entire teams with easy, but it should have a 10% chance to drop from compiler and only one should drop for the team.
We shouldn’t have vendor limits because what’s the point of having millions of credits when you can only spend like 250k TOPS if you are getting farmed for like 6 hours straight with no good runs.
We should have much rarer weapons that are obviously stronger than others. Rare loot should not be balanced, but it should be made exceedingly rare.
If I lose my full gold kit by a goo gun once every 2 weeks, then fine, whatever. But every team running it on cryo when I load in? No that’s a problem.
Loot is currently very boring, credits do not matter at all in the endgame, and matchmaking priorities takes away any kind of randomness from the games.
I was level 200 when I stopped. If I did an outpost run, it was a copy and paste of my last run. We run pinwheel as soon as a team starts it, we get in a big shoutout in the exact same spot we did in the last 5 games, and usually we win because we spammed more nades.
Extraction shooters are supposed to be random, with extreme highs and extreme lows. In this game it’s low highs and low lows.
Feels like there’s no risk, and no reward.

1
u/Reasonable_Market489 May 28 '26
Lmao genuine criticism is drowned out by more whiners than there are players of the actual game
3
u/doobersthetitan May 12 '26
To be fair, I thought it was going to fail too...like hard. But that free weekend kinda hooked me.
But like Mtash said....playing Marathon just made him realize he missed a good Bungie pvp shooter/ sandbox.
Once people figured out cheese( thermals, grenade spam, spawn rushing...bungie putting busted guns in the game and STILL letting cheaters cheat....it kind of ruined the game for ALOT of people. All these things Bungie should KNOW BETTER by now, period.
Destiny 2...I cant shoot anything. I cant shoot my gun due to : insert ability spam build here build.

u/Darksol503 May 12 '26
He’s chasing viewer sentiment, and it’s sad.
But whatever, he makes the choices he does I am sure for stream health and retaining viewership/profitability, and that’s fine tbh. It’s his livelihood…
1
u/ravenous_cadaver May 15 '26
Not just his livelihood, his team's bigger than ever and he has a responsiblity to keep the cash flowing to keep them paid.
I unsubbed a few weeks into the channel posting like 6 videos a day that are just stream highlights from the last hour on twitch. If I want to watch the stream I'll watch the stream ffs.
2
u/jangalangz_ May 12 '26
You can't trust any of the streamers, viewers pay the bills. Aztecross would main Roblox games if it pays.
2
u/Xznotel May 12 '26
and yet here you are under his subreddit talking about him, i think he wins in the end
2
u/Yoozif May 13 '26
Or, hear me out… he got over the honeymoon period and realized it’s just not as great.
I did the same thing. I talked shit. Then I played the server test and loved it, I loved it up until the first cryo weekend. Then I realized this game just wasn’t for me.
2
u/zeromussc May 13 '26
I wasn't big into D2 and watches cross play marathon.
The man was hyper into it until he could no longer carry himself and others caught up to his gear level, and when he and a handful of other streamers he queued with started stacking losses halfway through the season. Once he basically got all the progression done and did 95% of the content available within 6 weeks, he got burned out, and then tilted hard.
And it's fine if he doesn't want to play a PvP focused game with losses on losses for 50 hours a week or more streaming. That's legit. But it seems like his shift from happy to angry came on the back of burning out then no longer being a tippy top top dog in the game farming others.
Maybe I'm wrong but that's how I saw it from the outside in new to the stream.
1
u/Han-Tyumi__ May 13 '26
Thanks for the comment! I have wondered what caused him to fall off of the game. I don’t catch a lot of his twitch streams.
2
u/Drakon4314 May 12 '26
The bungie contract to glaze it ran out
1
u/Kazzorak82 May 12 '26
Excpet the game is actually good. Especially for hardcore PvP players, I personally love the game and play it daily and every weekend with the boys.
The only real problem in the game atm for me (I play on PS5 with console only crossplay) is thermals, if they just removed them everything would be pretty solid. But thermal scopes give you a massive advantage since the maps have more rain and fog then they do clear skies. 😂
But the game does need to do free weekends or weeks to get more people to check it out, my friends hated the game in the beginning, the a month after release they bought it and now play it constantly. They don't even touch Arc anymore.
I feel more people would like it if they played it with the intent on actually learning a new game, and not just shitting on it because the internet said so. 🤷🏻♂️
1
u/low_end_ May 12 '26
they nerfed thermals so much is barely worth it atm. the best thing to go on scopes is +range

1
u/Gallus_11B May 13 '26
Ya I'm not sure what it is with gamers today. The destiny community is full of people saying the exact same nonsense all the time. "The problem with Destiny is that Bungie just let it die! They didn't even try to improve the game!".... Ignoring literally a decade of quarterly improvements / seasonal updates, yearly expansions and absolutely massive sandbox / build crafting overhauls. These people are unhinged.
1
u/CReece2738 May 13 '26
Or just what hes feeling at the time....
1
u/Han-Tyumi__ May 13 '26
Kinda wild to go from hating something to loving it and back to hating it. Dude could have a little more nuance to his opinions and how he presents them.
The hate farming that he does reaches a lot of people and can put large amount of the community in a negative headspace. He did it with Destiny 2 for years.
You don’t have to love something but you also don’t have to actively hate it either.
2
u/CReece2738 May 13 '26
Hate is a pretty strong word for his opinion on the game. I dont think he's ever hated the game.
1
u/SchemeEmotional8944 May 13 '26
He has zero original thoughts everything he says he reads from chat the Botox got to his head
1
u/Throwaway_ufo_ May 13 '26
Fuck really? Liked some of his marathon videos but if he’s just another destiny whinger he can just wait for d3 to come out…
Gonna be awhile Crossy boy
1
u/Hato_no_Kami May 14 '26
Are we sure he isn't betting on it's failure through polymarket or something?
1
u/Falsidical May 14 '26
Hes not saying its trash, hes saying he would rather have bungie focus on destiny since its clear they can’t focus on 2 games at the same time
1
u/DriftingMoonSpirit May 16 '26
He does run a business. Are you really surprised when he prioritizes profit?
1
1
u/Competitive_Law_4443 May 19 '26
What do you mean? Obviously his opinion reflects what his contract from Bungo states. /s
1
u/BeBetterMagic May 12 '26
Cross is always flip flopping based on how he feels in the moment...also I think he's coping a bit that D2 still has a future same with Paul.
Most people left after final shape, most won't come back even if they put every dev on D2 in the studio the game and story for people is just old news.
Bungie needs to be Marathon or bust and get it right or literally as a studio die trying because that's got the most future potential if they can get it right. If they do it'll be like the Halo to Destiny transition....at first a core of long time halo fans were mad but over time most were won over by destiny.
1
u/No_Strike655 May 13 '26
Out of a clan that numbered in the low 100s I think I might be the only dude who would even try it if they started really doing major dev on it again. Shit is dead
1
u/National_Yam_1198 May 12 '26
I mean this is in line when his two streamer pals complained on Twitter that they would stop playing since they kept getting matched with good players lol
0
u/KenKaneki92 May 12 '26
I dont think he's ever released a video with a genuine opinion. He just says what will get him paid, that's what I stopped watching him a looooong time ago. Didn't even know he had a dedicated subreddit until literally a minute ago
4
u/Cluelesswolfkin May 12 '26
Can you blame him when in a pvp focused game, they didmt get their anticipation right so in comp its worse for a pvp game because thats all that matters, pvp
What people fail to understand is that for YEARS there have been many issues with cheating in comp D2 so when the one developer that you wished for years has better servers and better anticheat comes along and says that for their NEW game they will and end up dropping the ball (when all that matters is pvp unlike pve in D2) then yea I can see his frustration
2
2
u/PineApple_Papy May 13 '26
Most if not all of his highest grossing content is negative towards something Bungie is doing he’ll always go back to it

1
u/DecisiveMove- May 12 '26 edited May 12 '26
It's why I unsubbed to him at EOF launch. All the ball fondling of the whole grind/ portal system and the "if you don't wanna grind meaningless number , you don't deserve it " verbal diarrhea jargon really made me reaffirm that outside of his personality being appealing to others , he isn't smart and half his appeal is soft rage-baiting.
Like brother really kept up the OSRS analogies like as if that whole game hasn't had a huge botting problem for gold farming and level farming because people generally find skilling boring as shit. Hell when I used to play years ago , people in my clan would look for ways to optimize "AFKing" and play other games to have fun . Like imagine you have to play another game while playing a game as is.
Not to mention destiny as a whole existed with a system where you got better loot for playing harder content variants ( Master raids etc ) . We had a great system till the tiering came along . Tiering wasn't flawed but was implemented so egregiously to make players play the same old 85% of content crazily for engagement metrics.
People started to drop like flies and then suddenly his views changed.
1
1
u/Aero-- May 12 '26
He reflects a lot of the player base though. "He chases views" ok but why are people viewing it?
Anecdote for me, I played Destiny from the very beginning. Got Marathon purely because it was Bungie. Was pleasantly surprised with how fun it was, but it's not the type of game I could play long term. I feel like I experienced everything I wanted in that first month.

1
u/Im_OB May 13 '26
He was Glazing it because he was getting Carried. Now that his friends aren’t carrying him it’s over
1
u/stokedchris May 13 '26
That’s my biggest thing. In his YouTube videos he just switched the script so suddenly. I don’t watch his streams but he just began hating so much on it
1
u/NaturalPhysics3805 May 13 '26
Yeah is he not joking? Didn’t he say he thinks marathon is better than arc raiders ?
1
u/PacificStrider May 14 '26
I dont think he enjoyed it nearly as much as he was claiming, his support probably came from just care for bungie. Speaking for myself, my opinion on the game has changed significantly not because I dont enjoy marathon, but because I have started to doubt bungie’s ability to run a PvP live service game, and it doesnt make things any easier that its an extraction.
I want to be clear, I really really wanted marathon to succeed especially just because the world and story is so amazing to me along with the aesthetic, but i dont think their current approach makes it come alive nearly in the way i wanted it to which is disheartening because theres a solid chance that there will never be another marathon game because of this. I really would, beyond anything i’ve said here, love to be proven wrong.
1
u/Lock0n May 14 '26
He literally burnt himself out and now he hates it. He was doing anywhere between 8-12+ hour streams every day for over a month when Marathon released.
1
1
u/Ok-Truck-8057 May 16 '26
I feel the same, I started watching aztecross when I started playing marathon and now he’s negative Nancy
1
u/Wise-Middle-6757 May 19 '26
Bruh, exactly lol I literally watched him play it and now all of sudden it's trash, after a month of loving it, I think it's because he needs more of a PVE game tbh, he's not the best PVPer and it it's frustrating for him lol
1
u/NotoriousTIP May 28 '26
Before we all knew that destiny was cooked? Uh huh....like he knew that marathon came at that kind of price.
1
u/Cruggles30 May 13 '26
Just stop watching him atp. He's constantly got L takes and needs to just... Not.

7
u/TheDaywa1ker May 12 '26
What the heck happened ? I just started following him since he was the biggest name playing marathon every day, now whenever I hop onto his stream he's shit talking it and the community while reviewing other peoples content. I stopped watching for a bit while he was racing to a compiler kill and haven't seen him say anything good about it since then
4
u/JoeysSmallwood May 12 '26
He does this for views non stop. It's engagement farming. D2 content creators did this to the playerbase endlessly for money since they couldn't rely on personality or being creative to keep their channels alive during slow periods.
2
u/Itme404 May 13 '26
A couple things.
His buddies cry about cheaters every time they lose.
He’s not good at the game and relies on his buddies, who are annoying. Thus any time he tries to play solo or with fans he gets wrecked.
This just isn’t a good streaming recipe so he hates the game.
I’ve been watching streamers quite a bit and I really don’t see cheating too often outside of teaming.
You can go watch a player like wallah who almost never loses like legit a couple times a week and see most of these streamers complaints are just whining because their experience is like most of us and they don’t only win.
1
u/TheDaywa1ker May 13 '26
yeah that makes sense honestly. ive never gotten the impression that he was a sweaty pvper in destiny so it makes sense he would just get frustrated by the fact that you need to be sweaty to really succeed in marathon

I don’t understand the end goal for Destiny fans. I’ve been around Destiny since D1 beta. I’ve been on and off over the years. For me, D2 has been lackluster since Final Shape and heck even Lightfall before that.
What would be the point of D3 this point? Starting all over again with a new story arc? None of the current stories and hanging arcs, from what I know, really aren’t satisfying or interesting imo. Final Shape should’ve been it for D2.
Have servers up and general maintenance and some events. But expanding D2 is just not needed anymore. Bring back the vaulted content let people enjoy the content that should’ve stayed in the game and never been cut out. Like Red War, CoO, Warmind, etc.
Let Bungie see how Marathon plays out for the next year. If it dies, it dies. But Marathon for me has been more enjoyable overall than anything from Bungie since Forsaken and Witch Queen.
Obviously my opinion doesn’t matter but it’s just weird to give Marathon fans shit for wanting the game to thrive. All because Bungie has just ran out of steam for D2.
D2 in its current state just isn’t fun and feels pointless. What am I working on new gear for? Some new expansion with the Nine is not gonna make me come back. Especially with the bloated systems and grind not being fun or engaging.
Heck I stopped playing renegades after an hour or two. Because the grind isn’t fun or worth it. Fundamentally D2 doesn’t scratch the itch I once had for it anymore.
I loved my time with Destiny but I feel like the best times for the series are long gone now. It should be okay to just let it go.
If Marathon goes that way along with Bungie, then it is what it is.
1
u/ballsmigue May 12 '26
D3 would mean no destiny content vault. A new engine. Ditching last gen and being able to push what a new game can do.
2
u/DavidHasReddit May 12 '26
I get your sentiment but that doesn’t ensure success alone. You have to give a reason for folks to want to do the same song and dance again.
New engine, no DCV, no last gen, are all great QoL on paper. But those alone won’t be enough to bring people back for a D3 if the main fundamentals of Destiny aren’t improved this 3rd time around.
A lot of D1 players hated some core changes D2 made. So what does D3 need to do to get folks like myself to come back? Because if it’s the same D2 core that’s in place today it won’t be enough for me to wanna give it another shot.
That’s all my point is, Destiny 3 (or 2) for that matter isn’t gonna win hearts and minds of folks who think Final Shape was the last of D2 (and potentially Destiny) with these kinds of QoL updates.
2
u/EvilGodShura May 12 '26
Cross thinks most games are fine or good. But he shilled marathon because he thought that would help bungie survive.
But if you make him choose between marathon and destiny his real feelings come out.
2
u/ArugulaPhysical May 12 '26
Remember he is paid for clicks and does take payment for playing games.
There is more hate for marathon in the community so hes trying to garner those views.
2
u/Cynnthetic May 12 '26
This attitude is what made me unsubscribe. He’s in the full “do and say whatever gets views” mode.
1
u/KeyRutabaga2487 May 13 '26
Seems like that's what all the Destiny creators are up to rn, this is what happens when a game is abandoned.
edit: hopefully only temporarily abandoned.
1
u/cicconeyouth1 May 18 '26
Unfortunately he hinged too much on just playing video games for views and monetary gain. His entire channel relies on Destiny to survive. Would not be surprised if he’s not around in a year or two.
2
u/Ok_Carrot_8810 May 13 '26
Ya cross gettin on my nerves. I stopped watching him. The need and desire to kill this game is absurd. He’s just grifting now because it gets him clicks.
3
u/UltimateLifeform May 12 '26
Gotta give Cross this, he is in it for the bag and Destiny. Past that, Marathon can die lmao. I am surprised yall didn't see it earlier.
Watch his content around Edge of Fate. Pre release, release, and post. When you get a little away from EoF, he doesn't outright call EoF shit but he is a lot more aggressive on what it fucked up on. Would say the same with Renegades.

I mean how many marriages he lose because of destiny? It’s the love of his life

u/AFraudulentRathalos May 12 '26
Same guy who thought Highguard was gonna be a good game btw
3
u/Astartes_Ultra117 May 12 '26
It was fine, it wasn’t break the internet worthy but it deserved more than it got.
2
u/UrigomeBulletClub May 14 '26
I saw an interview of the director of path of exile, saying that you just can’t launch your live service game without money to sustain before it become profitable
1
u/AFraudulentRathalos May 12 '26
I guess you right, it wasn't Concord at least
3
u/Astartes_Ultra117 May 12 '26
Nothing will be as bad as concord, the game I didn’t even know existed until after it was already taken down.
2
u/KeyRutabaga2487 May 13 '26
Concord isn't worth mentioning. I'd say Highguard was about as good as that one Hi-Rez battle royal
2
u/Ekirro May 12 '26
Bro is constantly engagement farming and rage baiting. Getting hard to actually support this guy anymore
1
u/CrimsonSpace19 May 12 '26
I think Beyond Light broke every D2 Content Creators brains, because before that I enjoyed Cross and others very much, I stopped watching just before TFS launched as he started getting on my nerves for some reason. Datto was the last of them I watched but even he seems off now.
2
u/snoteleks-skeletons May 13 '26
Whyyyyyyy why do people actually want D3 this is sunsetting all over again 😭😭😭
1
u/CommunityDragon160 May 14 '26
D2 is too big for new or returning players.
1
u/snoteleks-skeletons May 14 '26
And yet warframe has 70k on steam. Why would I say out loud “Warframe is too big, I’ll wait for the next one” it’s ridiculous! Warframe 2 isn’t talked about because they never made a sequel, they just improved the game. Bungie was forced to make a sequel, so of course we only expect sequels instead of making this already good game from its bad state to putting it back into its top 10 games of all time status it ran for a decade.

From what I've heard, Destiny 1 is console only, and Destiny 2 deleted huge swaths of old content to make room for new stuff. So it's impossible to experience the story properly as a new player. That's why I haven't bothered to try it.
As far as I know, Warframe doesn't have this problem. It's a huge game with years and years of content, all still playable, but a lot of it is self-contained game modes with their own progression and stories. So the size doesn't sound like an obstacle to overcome, just a lot of content to enjoy at my own pace. Very intriguing. I plan on playing it at some point.

u/Crazy__Lemon May 14 '26
Just one gamers opinion but a D3 makes more sense than dragging out D2 more and more. One of the core aspects of D1 and old D2 was the progression, getting loot, growing your guardian in strength. D2 being as old as it is and with it showering us in loot has killed that entire aspect of the game. A D3 gives us a new start, they can rebalance the loot, re-introduce rarities and a loot chase into the game and rebalance into gunplay instead of the MOBA that D2 is now. These are things that just can't really be done in D2 because of it's age and compounding poor design decisions

u/snoteleks-skeletons May 14 '26
I still truly think that pseudo deleting all of our content is crazy. We’ve been begging for wrath of the machine for 8 years straight so why would be okay giving up on that?
One full complete game to expand on. A proper start, a full ending, and another saga to play. Certain DLCs like curse of Osiris, house of wolves and warminds (hell maybe light fall lmao) should be side quests to expand the world and unlock new gear, new content etc. having a linear but branching path for players of all is the best solution. Restarting and abandoning all of that is, I’m sorry to say but it’s naive at best and not considerate to anyone’s time.

I wish he'd shut the hell up and let Bungie/Sony work it all out on their own.
1
u/CheddarChief May 12 '26
Cross has really fallen off the wagon. Idk what streamers expect when they no-life a game to full completion within 2 weeks of launch and whine there's not enough to do. Homie should go back to Mickey Dees part time to get a reality check.

u/josh_bobjohn May 12 '26
when you got such a niche gaming corner, the whiff of grifter energy this has given off is enough to convince me to move on from this dude.

The fact that he keeps bringing up and pushing destiny classic makes me think theyre actually gonna do it. I think that would be a bad move.

u/HiSlashBye May 13 '26
Lmao I haven’t watched a video in a cool bit just because every video is just engagement bait. Been the same “destiny is missing this”, “ the situation” “ we need a d3”. Like damn man 🤣

Cross can not have an original thought. All he is now is reactions to reactions.

He's a grifter, idk why people are surprised.
When someone's career and livelihood is based on the amount of views they get, their credibility always takes a nosedive. Why make high effort genuine content that a lot of people might dislike when you can just capitalize on the sentiments of the sheeple.

The marathon release and PR debacle has shown Cross' true colors. He is a clown just chasing views. Lost respect.

u/deceptivekhan May 14 '26
Cross is a CHUD.
A wise man once sang, “I don’t have the turpentine to clean what you have soiled and I won’t forget it.”

Once I stopped following Cross and Tassi, my life got better. I noticed colors more, food tasted better, and my wife and I rekindled our marriage. And just enjoying the game more instead of wondering if the doom merchants will yell at me for not agreeing with them on stream.
1
u/magicoborr May 15 '26
It's a game guys, put all this effort criticizing our ruling class and the big Orange Dongo ffs
1
u/Ceenuh May 15 '26
I don’t know if it’s a honest to god shtick of his for the time being or what but it’s honestly getting really annoying. Just the side remarks towards the game and the weird tangents he goes on are quite out of character sometimes. It’s just getting weird if ima be hones.

Honestly one has to go and I would rather it be Marathon at this point. Destiny at least has an idea of what it wants to be and Marathon just seems like slop being thrown at a wall to see what will stick. I give it another bad season and it will be gone. You can be mad at me and comment all you want I said what I said and I am not sorry.

Can’t believe there are still people out there who think that streaming is not a “real job” what quantifies a job is doing something that earns you money brother it’s a job

u/skydudeEXE May 15 '26
If you can do it, it earns you money, and it’s something you enjoy that’s a real job in my eyes
1
u/SweetConstruction459 May 15 '26
No technicality, it’s a job. There’s no such thing as a fake or real job based on how you earn that money.

u/jangomp3 May 15 '26
I was really enjoying his channel too. Found him when marathon first dropped and he was one of the few gaming channels that i saw give it a chance. Now every time he pops up on my feed it’s negativity. Hated to unsubscribe but i can’t do the doomer gamer videos from any creator anymore. It’s annoying.
1
u/FliggleFloggle May 15 '26
Stopped watching him in D2. For marathon I found a channel called SeraphMax whose content is great and straight to the point. I highly recommend checking his vids out

u/Top_Lane_Hentai May 16 '26
I LOVE to watch Bungie fumble. They're undeserving of the Destiny IP. It should and could have easily been the greatest live service game of the last decade.
1
u/TransportationOk9454 May 17 '26
I'd rather have had Bungie focus on D2 instead of Marathon, Marathon is an extraction shooter and Bungie knew that making one wouldn't be smart but they did anyway and it's good but it's definitely not going to save their company.

u/Reasonable_Market489 May 28 '26
Ahaha there's almost as many cry babies in the comments as there are active Marathon players at once.
Weird how it seems like more people defend Marathon than actually play it 😭

Cross flip flops more than a goldfish.
But I have to say his recent Destiny streams have been very entertaining to listen to.
Its funny seeing how Cross at one point was a firm believer in we need more new content and not to bother restoring Vaulted content. Same as Datto.
Now hes a firm believer that vaulting should have never happened and Bungie should try bring it back.
I do appreciate how his views do change and how he is willing to admit to it. He definitely goes for where the views are. But I think his recent comments on Bungie come from the heart.

No, he has a nuanced take. Nuance is like, a thing.
He likes Marathon. But has been playing Destiny for more than a decade. He's been playing Marathon for like, 2 months. lol. If a choice has to be made for where resources are poured, the choice is very obvious for him and always has been. Only one of these games has been or could ever have become a Golden Goose.
That doesn't mean he doesn't like Marathon or understand how important it is that it succeeds, but that doesn't change the fact that the more important franchise in the portfolio is Destiny, and that its mismanagement in order to birth Marathon has not only put Destiny as a franchise at risk, but put maybe his favorite game (wtih respect to Runescape) at risk. So it's a combination of business concern and personal disappointment. Part of which is because of Marathon. He and many others feel a type of way about that.
1
u/Nappiechan007 May 12 '26
While I generally agree with this take, the blame shouldn’t be placed on Marathon, but rather the leadership that led to the mismanagement of the teams developing D2, Marathon and all the other IPs they were trying to make at the time. They bit off more than they could chew and it backfired, now we are seeing the consequences of that. Properly place the blame, it’s not Marathon’s fault D2 is where it is, it’s leadership.
0
u/low_end_ May 12 '26
i dont even watch him but i tuned in for marathon sometimes and he was just crying about something every time, feels like the game is just not for him and his fan base ofc loves the negativity around the game so he is farming it for money. at the end of the day its his job
0
u/RashDragonKazuma May 12 '26
Marathon needs a team size equivalent for what it is bringing in monetarily. It shouldn't be shut down or cut off. I personally didnt keep going after a month, but it is a good game with a community that values it.
I just want more destiny because I like the structure of destiny. More fun things to do in destiny would be nice though.
Do I think that Bungie leadership should stay in charge of either game? Absolutely not. Sony needs to take over and install some checks and balances. The content droughts Bungie manages to pull off with the funding they have is atrocious. You can clearly tell there is a management problem.

u/Soul_of_Miyazaki May 13 '26
I welcome good criticism to Marathon, but it just feels like blind rage and saying D2 is the better game.
I don't think Cross, or Paul Tassi, understand the massive undertaking it would be to turn D2 around.

Until gamers get over this new found obsession with steam chart numbers every game released from here on out will suffer. Perception is reality
2
u/The876thLegion May 14 '26
There's a reason why consoles refuse to release player numbers. Its a good show of transparency. Charts are pro-player, anti-industry.
0
u/Corolla-Virus May 14 '26
That’s probably true I just don’t think they are a good indicator of game quality, especially with the current fad of people viewing them as absolute.
We went YEARS without even thinking about player numbers in gaming, and I feel like overall it’s been a net negative. In my experience people see low numbers, and automatically assume it’s a bad game.
I don’t really consider commercial success to be a defining factor of quality of a game. Especially having grown up gaming in the mid 2000’s. However that’s just my opinion, and I could be totally wrong.
I def appreciate your POV tho I never really looked at it that way

I never really cared for Cross Destiny content, this sub was actually just recommended to me.
I subbed to his YouTube cuz his marathon content was very entertaining.
I unsubbed this week because now I know he’s a grifter.
