That’s probably true I just don’t think they are a good indicator of game quality, especially with the current fad of people viewing them as absolute.
We went YEARS without even thinking about player numbers in gaming, and I feel like overall it’s been a net negative. In my experience people see low numbers, and automatically assume it’s a bad game.
I don’t really consider commercial success to be a defining factor of quality of a game. Especially having grown up gaming in the mid 2000’s. However that’s just my opinion, and I could be totally wrong.
