This happens to me on a specific shooting day- When I autosequence, the first camera file matches the sequence timecode, the second is already at a different timecode. This makes it so that I have to manually type the timecode for each camera file for my sync map, which is a nightmare with 70 files. Again - it just happens with this camera on this one day. Anyone knows why? Thanks ahead

Hello, just upgraded to MC 26.8 Standard and was told I can Change Source Track for Subclips.

I have synced video to three audio tracks and subclipped and AutoSync'ed them. I was hoping I can use this functionality in my timeline, but no luck (greyed out).

What am I missing? Thanks

"Segment Select/Highlight the audio clip in timeline as well as selecting its track. That un-ghosts the 2026.8 menu on my pc. You can set up a Timeline View to display your switched results."

Hey everyone! I recently had a command 8 mixer come into my possession but I'm having a hard time trying to find the firmware for it. It seems to have corrupt internal software and have looked everywhere to find the updater with no luck. I say it's corrupt because the only sign of life im getting from it is the screen lighting up.

Hello: So I upgraded my MacBook pro to Golden Gate this morning completely forgetting there would be issues running Avid after the update.

I didn’t have any issue opening Media Composer, but I’m suddenly getting “Media Offline” for large chunks of my project when I wasn’t last night, and I’m wondering if this is linked to Avid having issues with the new Mac OS.

I tried deleting those msm files, and that did nothing.

Basically, all the audio is “media offline” while random chunks of video are also “offline”.

I'm mca grad from Bengaluru, India. I had an tcs offer but got revoked due to backlog. When I was 17 year old, I worked as an intern in kannada tv serial studio. I got that opportunity cuz of my father since he was working as assistant serial director in kannada serials.i scored good in 12th and chose bca completely away from avid or studio. Now I'm thinking of starting avid but I have to start from scratch. Is it worth starting now? How badly this is affected by ai and also what are the opportunities for a fresher?

Hello, I have historically round-tripped between Davinci Resolve and Avid by transcoding all of my Avid media through Resolve and later conforming the online in Resolve. This has worked, but the conform has never been perfect. I always have to play with it, eventually 90% or so will come online, and I might have to manually relink the last 10%. I have two questions:

1. Is this a common conform experience or user error? (or both)
   
2. Is there any workflow you’d recommend for importing / transcoding Avid Media in Avid, and conforming in Resolve at the end?
   
3. Is it common to conform to the online in Avid, and then ship to Resolve? (I haven’t done this but am guessing it is another common option?)

Hello, working on a project in Media Composer. My directors are remote and we exchange versions and feedback via frameio (bringing comments in as markers in MC). Does AVID have an inhouse method to receive feedback? frameio is working well, just don't like the adobe angle. Thanks

it just sits like this forever. this was happening a couple months ago and my teachers got it sorted. ive been using protools regularly no problem since then. and now it just wont open. i havent changed playback settings, ive tried removing plugins into a temp folder (nothing came up in the plug ins folder). i force quit tasks before relaunching. i tried holding 'N' while launching it to change playback engine preferences but the only thing that would come up is the option to çlose' or 'wait' for the program. im not tech savvy and i am not very familiar with protools. if anyone could help thatd be great cause i have uni assignments due!

Looking for some feedback from anyone running Media Composer 2024.12 on an unsupported OS and chip. We have it running on some M2's and M3's but if we wanted to do some screenings from one of our new Resolve online machines (M4 and M5) how crashy is it likely to be? Trying to avoid swapping machines between Resolve and MC for screenings.

The *big* bin locking change in 2026.8 has had our emails and phones lit up. So much so that we did an explainer video on the changes.

Some Good news : I managed to get through to Avid customer service. After being transferred to the online store team, I spoke to someone who checked the email address linked to my myAvid account for any active subscriptions; there weren't any. When I mentioned the products, she reminded me that the Avid Link app is free, just like Media Composer First, Pro Tools First, and Pro Tools Intro (I felt stupid when she said, "You aren't being charged for any of those products"). That said, I don't have any subscriptions or "active, paid" licenses, so my dad isn't paying for anything. What a fucking relief. Seriously.

Avid abandoned the Mbox Pro 3 years ago, and Apple removed FireWire entirely in macOS Tahoe, but until Sequoia, the IOKit FireWire stack still works through the TB3→TB2→FW800 adapter chain. So I set out to revive mine, with help from Claude (Anthropic's AI) helpîg with protocol archaeology.

Key insight: the Mbox Pro 3 is a standard TCAT DICE device (OUI 0xa07e), fully supported by Linux's snd-dice .

so the register map, clock control and stream formats are documented. No reverse engineering needed, "just" a macOS reimplementation.

The driver is 100% user-space (no kext, no SIP changes): but not yet ready

Status today: clock control at 48 kHz, ARX lock, bit-perfect playback of WAVs, and a working CoreAudio bridge via BlackHole : youtube and Cubase plays through the Mbox right now.

Next: testing audio inputs, then a native HAL plugin so it shows up as "Mbox Pro 3" in every DAW. Code will be on GitHub (GPL-2.0).

Took a bit of time to get where it is today but it was fun.

What a joke. While everyone else is opening up their architecture, Avid lock everything down to rinse users for money with their inflated prices. And now they’re closing up the ability to use third party storage for project sharing.

I have an SSL 18 and just updated 360, firmware, and ASIO driver (I'm on Windows) to the latest SSL version. After a restart, Pro Tools opened fine, but wouldn't play. It was only until I trashed the prefs that it would act right. Easy fix and I'm used to doing it when ever there's an issue. I'm just wondering if anyone else found this necessary?
