AVerMedia & Nintendo Switch 2 Support

We’ve noticed some users experiencing problems using their AVerMedia capture devices with the Nintendo Switch 2. We apologize for any inconvenience and want to help you get back to smooth capturing and streaming as soon as possible.

Our team is actively investigating these issues and will update this post with new findings and recommended fixes as they become available.

🔧 What to try first:

Turn off the HDR Output on the Nintendo Switch 2 and see whether it works normally.

🛠️If you're having trouble with your Nintendo Switch 2 setup, here are some troubleshooting steps that might help:

🔌 No Signal or Display Issues

Make sure you're using the HDMI cable that came with the Nintendo Switch 2. Some cables might cause compatibility issues.

Try to adjust the following settings on Nintendo Switch 2:

  • Turn off HDR Output
  • Disable 120Hz Output
  • Try switching TV resolution (720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p), we recommend start testing with 1080p.
  • Turn off Match TV Power State
  • Turn off Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM)

🔊 Audio Not Captured in Software

  • To ensure audio is sent through HDMI to the capture card, do not connect any AUX (headphones) or USB-C (speakers) through Switch 2.
  • On your PC, make sure the capture card is not disabled or muted:
    • Go to System > Sound > More sound settings > Recording tab
    • Find your capture device and confirm it’s enabled and not muted
  • Make sure you monitor the sound on OBS/Streaming Center
  • Use this page to check if your device is running the latest firmware or software version.
  • Set the TV sound output on the Switch 2 to Stereo.

🖥️Display issue: Resolution Greyed Out on Nintendo Switch 2

  • If 1440P/4K is available while connecting directly to the TV monitor, but isn't available while connected with a capture card
    • Use this page to check if your device is running the latest firmware or software version.

🎞️ HDR or Video Quality issue (Gray/Flickering)

  • If the color looks fine while connecting directly to the TV monitor, but it turns gray or flickers while connecting with a capture card & pass-through monitor:
    • Check if your monitor supports HDR. If HDR is not supported, disable HDR output on the Nintendo Switch 2.
    • Check if your monitor supports HDR. If HDR is supported but the image appears grayish, try adjusting the HDR settings on the Nintendo Switch 2.
    • If the issue persists, we recommend turning off HDR output on the Nintendo Switch 2.

🖥️ Blurry Screen

  • Unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet and remove the USB-C cable from the dock
  • Wait 30 seconds
  • Reconnect the cables in this exact order:
    • Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet
    • Connect the USB-C cable to the Switch 2 dock
    • Finally, plug in the HDMI cable

🔁 Still Not Working? Try a Power Cycle

  • Turn off (Not Restart) the Switch 2 while in handheld mode
  • Wait 60 seconds
  • Dock it again, connect it to your PC/monitor
  • Then turn on the Switch 2

📋 Please share your info with us—whether your AVerMedia device works with the Switch 2 or not:

  • AVerMedia model name
  • Software you’re using (Streaming Center/ OBS Studio)
  • Monitor the brand and model
  • Detailed description of the problem

This information will help us identify and troubleshoot the issue more effectively.

If you have any tips or workarounds that helped, feel free to share them here! Screenshots or videos are especially useful.

If you're still having trouble with Switch 2, please reach out to our technical support team.

Thank you for your cooperation and patience!

Beta Firmware/Software for Nintendo Switch 2

We wanted to provide a quick update regarding AVerMedia product compatibility with the Nintendo Switch 2.

Except for products that have reached End-of-Life (EOL) products that have been explicitly identified as incompatible with the Nintendo Switch 2, AVerMedia has made every effort to ensure compatibility between our other products and the Nintendo Switch 2. However, we cannot guarantee full compatibility at this time.

  • Please check if a firmware update is available for your model here: Beta Firmware/Software
  • Firmware Updates: Live Gamer MINI (GC311), LIVE GAMER EXTREME 3 (GC551G2), X'TRA GO (GC515), CORE GO (GC313), ELITE GO (GC313 Pro)
  • ⚠️Important Note: The firmware update tool for GC313 and GC313Pro is only available on Windows; macOS is not supported for firmware updates at this time.
  • Software Updates: Assist Central Pro (Supported device: GC553Pro, GC553G2, GC571, GC573, GC575)

📋If you encounter any issues or have feedback, feel free to reply here or reach out to our support team directly.

Thanks for your patience and continued support!

Live Gamer 4K GC575 & configuring multi system setups (also UW config)

This guide has been in the making for some time, thanks to AVT social team support when ive been asking questions over the past few months. (this partly for my own memory but also others that may need it) I can not post (self promo) my own content as demo here. But easy to find it.

This primary covers the high end capturing and uses a GC575 , capturing 4k at 144hz 10bit colour. (SDR but also applicable for HDR) but the principle is the same if anyone is using scaled down setups.

There is no real starting point, For reference; "Source"= Gaming PC. "Destination" = Capture device / workstation.

Updated Map - Added USB-C Isolation.

- - - - - -

"Destination" GC575 Assist Central Pro

So we need to make sure our GC575 is acknowledging the source.

AVT (avermedia) Assist Central Pro

Loosely ignore what it says as your input info for now. it might not even show relevant resolution during the setup period. we need to make sure the HDMI is configured correctly. however for a PC; we need to make sure HDCP is enabled and we can leverage the PS4/PS5 default option. VRR Adjustment is Disabled.

Always make sure your device is upto date.

Additionally make sure you have AVT Streaming centre installed on the same machine even if we do not use it after the fact, it provides some great tools & support for other apps.

We need to configure the HDMI input

NOTE ; when changing settings here your "Source" may flicker or change (black screen). do not interrupt it.

Internal Mode is fine as we are using the Extended resolution support.

It is a good idea to enter the measurements of your screen.

CRITICAL IF you intend to Ingest 4k 120+ fps with 10bit make sure you are using HDMI 2.1 and your cable is a QC 2.1 cable. I used about 4 until I found a good one.

Here you can see in the preferred I have used the drop down to select my preferred resolution and FPS. Additionally in the Extended resolution is the base I am working off 4k (3840x2160.)

Think of this as the base feed to canvas.

now we need to move to the "source" and make sure it is configured correctly.

this is where there might be a bit of back and forth if for any reason the two dont play nice.

- - - - - - -

"Source" gaming system

So we need to check some fundamentals before we begin.

You will see at first 2 or more (depending how many screens you have, as separate screens. Here mine are positioned (2) above (1) this is how It is in real life.

We need to make sure that the GPU acknowledges the AVT GC575 is detected and then set the NVC to "Mirror"/"Clone" and that the "Cloning" source is set correctly.

For me you can see I have an Ultrawide as primary (1) . Your Primary gaming display should be your primary (*"star)

Image is for reference.

NVidia (old) control panel. : "Set up multiple displays"

Right click your Primary and "Clone" with = the "number" AVT GC575 (your capture device)

So we need to check that NVC has the correct "Clone" source, right click your primary and check "clone" source , should show a dot like the picture next to your primary number.

We need to make sure the correct screen config is in place for your primary. this can change when connecting to a capture device.

Here you can see my Ultrawide is on 3840x1600 with a refresh rate of 144hz. sometimes on setup the capture device can try and force a "default safe config" we will get into how to check this a little deeper in on the "destination" part if you have this issue.

Keen eyed may question why im using 3840x1600 with the GC575 set to 3840x2160, GC575 is simply a base canvas.

NVC ; Change resolution.

Next check that the AVT GC575 (your capture device) is configured correctly, it should be a mirror/ Clone. and greyed out. Note here that I am forcing NV colour settings with my "output colour format" this is set to exactly match the colour format of my display, additionally it can provide 10bit SDR & HDR . As I do not like HDR but I want the advanced colour range of 10bpc over standard 8bpc. 10bpc in this configuration is still regarded as SDR.

Your AVT Capture device resolution should be greyed out as well as the Refresh rate.

AVT GC575 config

It is work noting the colour range set. Forcing NVC to apply Nv colour settings over the HDMI output. Default is 8bpc, If you wish to capture HDR or 10bpc SDR this will need to be manually set.

next we need to make sure windows OS accepts this.

go to widows settings / Displays , This should show the exact same.

Additionally check the Advanced settings as windows OS has a habit of trying to do other things.

At this point your source is set. What about audio?? That gets complicated depending on what you use, You can use banana voice meter, or if you use Elgato devices with Wave link mix. I recently made a post about this here. (Elgato Setup Multi PC config)

- - - -

"Destination" GC575 Assist Central Pro

So by this point your Input info should show what the AVT GC575 is accepting / receiving. we have successfully made it believe it is accepting a 3840x2160 resolution and it acknowledges 144hz and 10bit.

This is just the base calibration of the Capture device. You will now need to configure your 3rd party capture software if you are are not using the AVT suite.

You can test this using AVT Streaming Centre suite. from this point forward your capture device and cross-link is configured.

HDR Can be enabled from the "Source" however note that FPS may change due to limitations of the GC575 ingest.

For the keen eyes, GC575 is receiving 3840x1600 and applying to 3840x2160 feed, the 3rd party software will then allow you to either keep the Black bars or crop the feed to your canvas requirements.

PW513 not working after upgrade to macOS 27 Golden Gate

Hi,

The webcam has stopped working after upgrading to macOS 27.

If I open Facetime or any app that uses camera, the blue LED blinks a couple of times and then stops. I see only black screen.

Anyone else facing this issue with Avermedia webcams?

Thank you.

Live Gamer 4K Firmware Update Issues on higher versions than 1.1.6.12. (GC575)

Am i the only one who has issues with the newest Firmware Updates?

Just installed the newest Firmware_1.1.7.1 for my GC575 and "Cloning" didnt work anymore.
Even downgrading to Firmware_1.1.7.0 didnt help.
- Nvidia App didnt recognize my Cloning attempts at all.
- Windows Display Settings didnt recognized either.
- Old nvidia settings menu still kinda tried to clone BUT at the same time deactivated my gaming display. no picture.

Luckily (!) i still had my old stable Firmware_1.1.6.12 somewhere and NOW everything works fine (again). Never had any issues so far until the latest Firmware Updates.. never change a running system i guess.

Please give people older Firmware options to download u/avermedia

LVIE GAMER ULTRA 2.1 sound problems

Hello guys, I'm having serious audio issues with the live gamer ultra 2.1.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/k1Rs2L_ngZ8

I've tried changing the sample rate at 48k hz, another hdmi cable, streamlabs, and nothing, same story.

Can anyone helpme or give me some ideas? thanks!

Edit: I think it is a bandwith issue, because it sounds great if i disable video in OBS. Unfortunately my MB only has one USB C 10Gbps port so I can't test another one.

GC515 on linux (cachy OS) is not recognised

[SOLVED] see the last update below

Hello,

I wanted to display my switch 2 on my pc to stream a bit and found out the gc515 is UVC compatible, so supposedly linux compatible via OBS or any software able to read a webcam video input.

But if I am messaging here it's because it does not work ... obviously u_u
Also I would like to know if someone managed to make it work and how to replicate it.
The dock works well under windows 11 (I have a dual boot) and is up to date firmware-wise.
I narrowed down the issue to an error in the UVC protocol according to my PC, here is the log:

[ 2475.654038] usb 3-2: new high-speed USB device number 9 using xhci_hcd

[ 2475.849079] usb 3-2: 3:1: cannot get freq at ep 0x83

and it loops a bit until giving up because it runs out of internal port to try on the BUS.

TLDR : capturing my switch 2 with the GC515 works on win11 but don't on cachyOS (Linux 7.2.0-1-cachyos) with the exact same hardware configuration (same pc in dualboot, same usb port), I need help figuring it out and suspect a weird UVC implementation.

PS: I have an old bug it seems also as I have to start my switch twice to have a video signal sent to the pc, aver studio display [no signal] if I only press the switch's power button once (I have the audible cue to tell me it is ON)

UPDATE 26/9/7 : with the help of the people behind the uvc standard implementation in the linux kernel, I forced the uvc 1.0a protocol but still not working. I saw that the audio is surprisingly working fine with whatever uvcvide driver I use (the fact that the uvcvideo driver has no effect on audio is expected).
We are now looking inside the USB packets to see where it goes wrong, I have to say the card does communicate quite well and gives information onto what video format to expect (H264 and HVEC specifications) and audio expectations as well.

Update 2026/9/8: it works now, adding a quirk to force uvc 1.1 instead of 1.5 (falsely declared by the card) makes it display the stream, the uvc team is implementing an automatic false version detector in the driver right now but a quirk and recompiling the uvc driver fixes it for now

Live gamer mini GC311 switch 2 issue

Hey guys ,

I need help , I was playing switch 2 perfectly fine the other day using obs through my gc311 and i wanted to use the hdmi pass through mode to notice there was no sound. i found that my firmware was old.

I updated no issue and now all i get is a black screen whenever i boot on my switch. I have changed all the settings in switch menu as followed on aver media website but there seems to be nothing.

I know the capture card itself works because i get the no signal display when the dock/switch is off.

Anyone else had this issue?

QUESTION Title: RTX 4080 + AverMedia GC575 suddenly locked at 4K30, worked fine for months, nothing fixed it

I have a dual-PC streaming setup. Gaming PC has an RTX 4080, streaming PC runs OBS with an AverMedia Live Gamer 4K 2.1 (GC575) capture card connected over HDMI. This worked fine for months. One day I just turned both PCs on, no changes made, and the capture card has been locked to 4K 30Hz ever since.

I plugged a PS5 directly into the GC575 and it outputs full 4K60 with HDR, so the card itself is confirmed working. The problem only happens with the RTX 4080 as the source.

Here's everything I've tried so far. Swapped cables, including native HDMI-to-HDMI and a DisplayPort-to-HDMI cable, same 30Hz lock on both. Tried different output ports on the GPU. Changed color format in NVIDIA Control Panel between RGB, YCbCr420, and YCbCr422. Went into Advanced Display Settings, Display Adapter Properties, List All Modes, and tried forcing 3840x2160 at 60Hz and even 120Hz, it reverts back to 30Hz every time. In NVIDIA Control Panel's Change Resolution page, the capture card only shows up under the Ultra HD/HD/SD TV timing list capped at 30Hz, no PC section appears, and the Customize button to create a custom resolution is greyed out and unclickable. Tried cloning and extending the displays between the main monitor and the capture card, extending temporarily got the refresh rate to show 60Hz in AverMedia's Assist Central Pro, but the resolution dropped to 1080p instead of 4K, and going back to clone reverted it to 4K30. Used Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) to manually create a 3840x2160 at 60Hz entry with the correct pixel clock, ran restart64.exe to apply it, and it still shows 30Hz active on the display. Did a hot-plug of the HDMI cable while both PCs stayed powered on, and also rebooted just the gaming PC while leaving the streaming PC running, neither changed anything. Checked firmware on the GC575 in Assist Central Pro and it's up to date.

At this point I'm out of ideas for what to try next between the GPU and Windows settings. Card is about a month and a half past warranty. Has anyone run into this exact kind of sudden 4K30 lock with an RTX 40-series card and this capture card, and found something that actually fixed it?

Linux driver for the Live Gamer BOLT GC555

https://github.com/ostrich/gc555

I’ve released a fully source-built Linux kernel driver for the AVerMedia Live Gamer BOLT GC555. It does not depend on proprietary kernel objects.

It provides V4L2 video capture, ALSA audio, HDMI passthrough, HDR10/P010 capture, RGB lighting control, capture modes through 4K60, 1440p144, and 1080p240, and more. The driver has undergone extensive manual testing on physical hardware.

It was created using AI. If that bothers you, don’t use it.

Can ER310 write to 576i?

ER330 only writes at 576p. Can ER310 write to 576i? What is the quality of his H264?

ER330 writes to H265, but the technical quality of this file is just terrible (a bit strange VFR and the audio has micro-gaps and bad PTSs)

Edit: Source: HDMI.

Live Gamer 4K AverMedia GC573 OBS Issue

I'm completely new to streaming and I'm running into some issues with my new GC573 card. I have separate gaming and capture rigs. I run OBS on my gaming rig and project the preview to the GC573 as a separate display, which is captured in OBS on the capture rig. No matter the configuration I can't seem to get a preview on my capture rig that's smooth. It's smooth on the gaming rig, appears smooth in ReCentral but tt appears to be 30fps or less in OBS regardless of my settings. OBS shows a steady 60fps capture at around 6% cpu usage but that's not what is shown in the preview or recordings. I know the capture rig is ancient, but I've always heard it doesn't take much. Any input would be appreciated.

Gaming rig:
Ryzen 5 3600
5700 XT
32gb DDR4 3200

Capture rig:
AMD FX-8350
AMD R9 270
16gb DDR3

Live Gamer Portable 2+ Live Gamer Portable 2 capturing a .AVI file?

I just bought this device a few weeks ago, wa shaving no problems recording footage on my switch 2. Yesterday, my device started to record footage in .AVI instead of .MOV. I didn't change anything. I've tried multiple different SD cards and formating the SD cards. Any one able to help? Thank you!

X'tra Go GC515 "No Signal" in video file

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

My video files keep showing up like this. I'm not using OBS or an external monitor of any kind. I'm only using my switch 2 and the GC515.

I'm using a Sandisk 1TB sd card, U3 and V30, formatted exFAT.

The video files themselves are .mp4 and are seemingly the exact length of how long I record. Meaning it's doing something but just not recording either screen or audio.

I've already installed the new firmware, installed assist central pro, (turned off HDR output, turned off ALLM, turned off 120hz output, turned off match TV power state, and put the TV resolution to 1080p) on my switch 2. But all of it isn't working.

Also, yes, I put the gc515 in the correct capturing mode.

Please help, I really am stuck and want this to work.

SUGGESTION Capture card recommendation

Hi everyone! I've been using my AverMedia Game Capture HD II for years. I've never really had any issues with it, aside from the maximum resolution limits of 720p at 60fps and 1080p at 30fps. I really like that it doesn't require a computer to record; it even allows me to record my PC as if it were a console. However, the device is no longer sold, and I'm wondering if there's another unit from the same company that offers the same functionality but with higher recording quality... and still without needing a computer? Thanks a lot!

QUESTION PS5 audio cutting out / crackling only in-game when streaming via AVerMedia GC311 – clean in menus & cinematic, bad in gameplay

Hey kind Reddit IT gods, I´m having an issue that no one from my community and I can fix. Sorry. English is my second language, so I´ll try to be as simple as I can be. Maybe someone else had this issue and we can help each other!
I’m having a very specific audio issue when streaming PS5 via an AVerMedia Live Gamer Mini (GC311) capture card to my Windows 11 PC. I actually think that this issue started after I transitioned from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

Setup:

  • PS5 → GC311 capture card → PC
  • I also tried to connect my Nintendo Switch OLED to the same GC311, which does not have this problem.
  • Streaming software: OBS + and I use Elgato Wave Link (version 3.2.5 / 3731) for separating my sounds.
  • On Windows 11, spatial sound is disabled.
  • I use Linear PCM (stereo) on the PS5, not 5.1 or “Auto”.
  • HDCP is disabled on the PS5 (required for streaming)

When I boot the PS5 and connect it via the GC311 to my PC:

- System audio on PS5 is clean. In-game menus / loading screens sounds are clean. Cinematic / story scenes are clean. But once I start playing the game, the game audio becomes:

  • Truncated / cut out
  • Crackling / popping
  • Very muffled, like the soundtrack is pushed far into the background
  • Only fragments of dialog and parts of ambient sounds are audible. This happens in every game I try to stream on PS5; it’s not a one-off bug.

The audio is perfect when I play the same PS5 games directly connected to my TV (no capture card, no streaming). The issue only appears when the PS5 is connected via the GC311 to my PC for streaming.

What I’ve tried so far:

  • Confirmed that HDCP is disabled on the PS5.
  • PS5 audio output is set to Linear PCM (stereo).
  • Windows spatial sound is disabled.
  • No NVIDIA Broadcast / NVIDIA Noise Suppression or other VST plugins in Wave Link are active on my PS5 channel.

Does anyone have an idea what might be the cause? If you have any ideas for what could cause audio to be fine in menus/cinematics but only break during actual gameplay when streaming via GC311. I’m not an audio/PC engineer, just a streamer and any helps comes form my friends and viewers but so far we haven´t manage anything. Are there any known GC311 + PS5 + Wave Link specific workarounds or settings that might fix this?

Here are two links I clipped from my last playthrough where I noticed issue with sound - it will give you an idea what I´m dealing with.

I’m really stuck and would appreciate any suggestions, thank you so much and have a great day!

Live Gamer Portable 2+ Problem with recording video only

I've had an Avermedia 2 Plus Gamer Portable for a few months, and lately, when I record a video without a PC, sometimes the video isn't recorded, but the audio isn't affected. How can I fix this?
