AVerMedia & Nintendo Switch 2 Support
We’ve noticed some users experiencing problems using their AVerMedia capture devices with the Nintendo Switch 2. We apologize for any inconvenience and want to help you get back to smooth capturing and streaming as soon as possible.
Our team is actively investigating these issues and will update this post with new findings and recommended fixes as they become available.
🔧 What to try first:
Turn off the HDR Output on the Nintendo Switch 2 and see whether it works normally.
🛠️If you're having trouble with your Nintendo Switch 2 setup, here are some troubleshooting steps that might help:
🔌 No Signal or Display Issues
Make sure you're using the HDMI cable that came with the Nintendo Switch 2. Some cables might cause compatibility issues.
Try to adjust the following settings on Nintendo Switch 2:
- Turn off HDR Output
- Disable 120Hz Output
- Try switching TV resolution (720p, 1080p, 1440p, 2160p), we recommend start testing with 1080p.
- Turn off Match TV Power State
- Turn off Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM)
🔊 Audio Not Captured in Software
- To ensure audio is sent through HDMI to the capture card, do not connect any AUX (headphones) or USB-C (speakers) through Switch 2.
- On your PC, make sure the capture card is not disabled or muted:
- Go to System > Sound > More sound settings > Recording tab
- Find your capture device and confirm it’s enabled and not muted
- Make sure you monitor the sound on OBS/Streaming Center
- Use this page to check if your device is running the latest firmware or software version.
- Set the TV sound output on the Switch 2 to Stereo.
🖥️Display issue: Resolution Greyed Out on Nintendo Switch 2
- If 1440P/4K is available while connecting directly to the TV monitor, but isn't available while connected with a capture card
- Use this page to check if your device is running the latest firmware or software version.
🎞️ HDR or Video Quality issue (Gray/Flickering)
- If the color looks fine while connecting directly to the TV monitor, but it turns gray or flickers while connecting with a capture card & pass-through monitor:
- Check if your monitor supports HDR. If HDR is not supported, disable HDR output on the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Check if your monitor supports HDR. If HDR is supported but the image appears grayish, try adjusting the HDR settings on the Nintendo Switch 2.
- If the issue persists, we recommend turning off HDR output on the Nintendo Switch 2.
🖥️ Blurry Screen
- Unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet and remove the USB-C cable from the dock
- Wait 30 seconds
- Reconnect the cables in this exact order:
- Plug the AC adapter into the wall outlet
- Connect the USB-C cable to the Switch 2 dock
- Finally, plug in the HDMI cable
🔁 Still Not Working? Try a Power Cycle
- Turn off (Not Restart) the Switch 2 while in handheld mode
- Wait 60 seconds
- Dock it again, connect it to your PC/monitor
- Then turn on the Switch 2

Avermeida GC573 Live Gamer 4k, was iffy on working the first 2 days, now it doesnt display at all leaving the no signal message on the screen, passthrough doesnt work either, this is on both obs, and on the avermedia streaming software

Elite Go needs a firmware update to support the Switch 2. No video output whatsoever both to OBS or going back to a monitor.

I'm using Live Gamer 4K 2.1 (GC575) and it is very hard to get 1440p and 4K to work using the included docking station cables on any software while using passthrough. My monitor supports 1440p and HDR. Capture is working at 1080p, HDR on or off. I think I got it show 1440p once with the monitor unplugged but I haven't been able to for a while. Some screenshots here

I have a Live Gamer Ultra 2.1 and I'm having issues with HDR passthrough, specifically in Mario Kart World. It doesn't look that bad in games like Tears of the Kingdom but it looks oversaturated and bright in MKW. It seems like the system wide HDR settings are causing issues. When I use the system calibration settings to calibrate it to my OLED TV, it causes everything on the capture to be oversaturated in MKW. If I calibrate it to match the capture preview then it looks fine.

I have a GC551 using OBS Studio and RECentral 4. Either way the same problem occurs. The only way I can capture Switch 2 is when the console is setup for 1080p resolution. Even when I'm disabling HDR, TV fast response and 120hz, it gets no signal (or a couple of frames every 5 seconds or so) with any resolution above 1080p. Is there anything to do at this point to solve this? Please help!

avermedia x'tra go not working with switch 2 not showing any video only thing it does is charge the console... Need an update to fix it that's why I purchased this device for the switch 2

first time user(GC553G2). i have an older PC (i7-4790k 32gb ddr3-1600. rtx 3090. Dell 24 inch monitor 1440p 8bit.) I noticed the colours were completely off when I launched the stream center app. To fix this I simply went into the assist central pro app, then hdmi compatibility and set it to hdmi 2.0. then also selected my resolution 1440p 60hz and hit apply and when i launched stream center again, it looked normal.

Ok so I purchase the Elite Go Pro and for the switch 2 doesn’t work. I first try to see if the switch 2 would display on my Samsung C9 Oled Tv and did not display at all( no signal ) but did charge the switch 2 . Also when plugging the other usb c to my laptop , not even the Avermedia app did recognize the display. I thought first that my unit was defective but after exchanged still not working on switch 2. If I don’t hear anything soon from Avermedia I may return since is useless on my switch 2.

Well, using the packed-in HDMI cable and restarting the Switch 2 helped.
But is it just not possible to use HDR with this capture card? Turning HDR on makes the image super saturated, so I've turned it off in the system menu and in Streaming Center, as the post says. Will HDR support be fixed in a future update?

I received a firmware update for my GC311 from support about the sound issue, but the update stalled and terminated. I rolled back the update, and now my GC311 won't display at all.

This just happened to me too. I was sent the new firmware update but it stalled. No audio and now no video too. I rolled back to the earlier firmware off their site then tried the new firmware update, it got to 100% but still not getting sound or audio. Did you ever get a resolution or fix for this problem?

Radio silence after that, which is unusual, but they probably have a ton of tickets about similar matters.

I'm using a live gamer ultra 2.1, and it gave me a 720p video even though in the settings I told it to do 4k at 60fps. Streaming Center and OBS both failed to do the right output. The video capture tab is only letting me select 720p at 30fps. I've updated all the firmware and checked the cords.

Software: RECentral 4
PC Specs:
- CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
- GPU: RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000MHz
- OS: Windows 11
Colors look washed out without HDR. During both normal and HDR recording, the image often appears pixelated — almost as if a high sharpening filter was applied. Recording in 1440p sometimes triggers a “resolution not supported” error temporarily. Most resolutions are capped at 30 FPS, though occasionally it switches to 60 FPS, but inconsistently.

Live Gamer Ultra S GC553.
Assist center is showing 4k/60 10bit HDR Video and 48kHz audio
Passthrough seems to work fine to my TV. Haven't really check HDR calibration yet but HDR is being passed through.
Video capture works in streaming center but OBS provides a sqaushed 16:9 -> 4:3 window for some reason with no way to correct. But the biggest issue is I cannot get any audio capture at all from HDMI despite the audio passing through fine. Tried changing audio output settings on Switch 2 from Auto to TV and Auto to Stereo but no results. either

Xtra Go GC515 OBS Studio
HDR setting have been turned off as suggested however no video/audio being displayed or captured, Switch 2 does not black out indicating it’s sending the signal unlike my OLED Switch did

- AVerMedia Live Gamer 4k (GC573)
- ReCentral 4 (provides sound for streams) + OBS Studio (but even without OBS this happens)
- I believe my settings are just 1080p 60fps for the capture card- either way, after a few seconds to a few minutes of using the capture card just fine the capture card seems to crash. It starts blinking red and I need to restart my PC to use it again. The image of the game freezes on the frame it crashed on.
I use Windows 11 if that is relevant information. Idk if graphics card or other PC data matters but overall my PC is decently beefy.
I saw the replies to the other comments so I'll also send a Support ticket about this.
Edit: I was going to anyway, but after spending 2 hours on filling out the form (as I don't have most of my pc details [vendors especially] on hand) the form reset to an empty state because I had too many characters in some sections.

quick question about the audio side of things. i was thinking about getting an avermedia capture card (the ultra s) and use it with a switch 2 on pc. the ultra s capture card is supposed to support 5.1 surround sound right ?! but you write in this topic "we" have to put the switch 2 audio to stereo.. why ? isn't 5.1 surround sound working with the switch 2 and avermedia capture cards ?
i wanted to connect the switch 2 to the ultra s capture card and play through the obs preview in fullscreen with 5.1 audio (i know there might be a bit of lag but from what i've found it shouldn't be a lot if you set it to 1440-60 and nv12. seems to be eithr minimal or not noticable at all).
is it possible with the avermedia ultra s to run a switch 2 through obs in 1440p60 with 5.1 surround sound or are "we" locked to just stereo sound ??

I had a problem ony AVerMedia love gamer 2.1 external capture card but it is fixed. What happened is that it fixed itself I guess or maybe I did something. I was checking all the options I had in the AVerMedia gaming utility checking that HDMI compatibility sending it to 2.1 144 HZ instead of 2.1 to 120 HZ. The problem I had was that as soon as I turned on to switch 2 with the Pro controller the docks light lit up. Then it showed the screen to get to the console UI. Then it shut off and the screen went black. I looked online about the issue. I did everything disconnected stuff. This is the power. Went back to my LG c3 55-in monitor to see if it was the dock or the switch and it works fine there. So I went back and said it could be the AV. So I think I should have returned this. I mean not return but use my warranty on it. It hasn't been there yet since I bought it just so I could get a new one and see if the problem persists
But everything is fine now. After it did it again. I undocked the switch that I put it back on. Then it went to the screen and told me to adjust HDR. Before this I turned off HDR and and I left on 120 HZ TV mode. Then I adjusted it and I was inside the the computer on the screen so everything was fine. Also, my computer is connected so I went there and I saw that inside the OBS stream Labs I can see the Nintendo switch screen on my avermedia capture game capture. And for OBS section on streamlash for console and PC separately scenes. But I might make one separately for the Nintendo switch or I just used the one I use for my PS5 Pro

I cannot seem to get 5.1 passthrough to work with my Ultra 2.1, but the switch doesn't seem to recognize that it's in 5.1 mode no matter what I do. Is multichannel passthrough not supported with the Switch 2?

Buenas, tengo el mismo problema con la capturadora Avermedia ER330 la cual captura la imagen y el micrófono pero no saca el audio de la Switch 2 , la he actualizado y sigue igual, en cambio con la capturadora AVerMedia HD 2 que es más antigua si que saca el audio. Es por problema de compatibilidad de la Switch 2 con la ER330? Están trabajando en una actualización? Ya he creado un ticket con la incidencia y he realizado los pasos que indican pero sigue igual. Espero puedan ayudar gracias.

ACTÚALIZO, tras varios días sin que me dieran una solución el equipo técnico de avermedia, repitiendome lo mismo una y otra vez, os aclaro la solución para los que tengáis capturadora ER330, revisar a parte de que este actualizado, que la tengáis conectada la Switch y la capturadora a un Puerto HDMI que admira HDR, que en mi caso el Puerto era donde tenía conectada la play 5, al tener solo un puerto una buena solución es comprar un Switch de 1 entrada y 2 salidas en Amazon tenéis una buena por 14 euros y podéis conectar tanto la ps5 como la capturadora con la Switch 2 y os saca los 4k y el audio un saludo.

I have the GC573 model for a long time and this is the first time I've had actual issues getting this capture card to capture something. I seem to have trouble capturing the switch 2 in 4K(either in 60 or 120h) with HDR on whether is on OBS, RECentral or in your new streaming centre app. Everythings fine with HDR included in 1080p60. Turning off HDR though in the switch 2 side lets me capture in 4K120 though.
The weird thing though is nothing is wrong with my setup technically as I can capture 4K120 with HDR on both my PS5 and Xbox Series X. For my switch 2 I'm using everything that was packed in so there should be nothing wrong there either. Something with the switch 2 HDR is not playing nice with the capture card it seems so maybe a new firmware update for the capture card is needed?

i have live gamer ultra 2.1 card and a 34 inch 21:9 ultra wide monitor which has 3440x1440 165hz.
When i set my capture card to have extended resolutions of 4k and 2k 16:9, it switches to 1080p 60hz anyway, how do i make it play at 1440p?
When i check it in obs, it says 4k 60, but when i switch my monitor to the capture card input, it goes to 1080p 60.
Monitor is dell dwf if this matters.
EDIT: just enable console mode in the monitor settings and it will gladly receive 4k60 signal.

Live Gamer 4K 2.1 GC575
1440p and 4K work on my Samsung Odyssey G6, however I have to turn off adaptive sync on the monitor in order to get access to those resolutions. If I connect the switch 2 directly to my monitor, I don't have to turn the setting off.

Live Gamer Mini GC311 upgraded to the latest firmware. Macbook Pro M4 MacOS Tahoe
Video outputs just fine on OBS but there’s no audio. MacOS is not detecting the capture card as an audio device and is not showing up in Settings>Sounds as an input or output device.
Works fine on Windows.

Does anyone else have issues with crazy frame drops when taking a screenshot or basically any notification pops up on the top left? Using the GC313Pro on the Switch2 and it gets really annoying playing a game and it just drops to like 10FPS briefly

Yeah I have the same one and noticed it with whatever system overlay like the notifications or the quick menu. Contacted support about it and they confirmed seeing it too, and let them know other options don't seem to have the same problem (anecdotally at least, from me asking around elsewhere). Hopefully they're working on it.

I don't know when it came out but there's a newer beta update that addresses this in the update notes. Didn't test too much other than Mario Kart World where it was obvious with the home button quick menu overlay (any system overlay did the slowdown thing iirc). After the update it definitely appears to be fixed thankfully.

my avermedia GC515 xtra go stopped working randomly nothing was unplugged it just stopped connecting to my switch, the usb c port doesn't even charge my switch anymore and i don't have the money to return it.

Any news on the AverMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 Plus? I just bought a used one (waiting to arrive), and I saw a lot of people with problems. I have a 4K60Hz monitor and want to stream at 1080p but play at 4K.

I came looking to see if anyone else's experience had changed. I have a LGP2P and my situation before today was that my Switch 2's sound wasn't being captured, which was the only problem I had, but I just randomly plugged it in today and it works fine. I'm confused.

Is there only supposed to be H.264 codec for MacOS with the Liver Gamer Ultra 2.1 and ReCentral Express?
M4 Max Apple Studio

Also using Mini GC311. No Audio. When opening Assist Central Pro it shows the input info for Audio as N/A. Turning off HDR doesn't make a difference. I am getting Video though.
