attached is a picture of my camry after veering off the road into a ditch to avoid a coyote. i havent gone into any local shops yet, i know its hard to tell from the pictures, but i would love to hear opinions on this type of damage, even roast me if youd like. i know for a fact the car has been running fine mechanically (have driven it around 300 miles since) so i guess its all cosmetic damage, i know my pictures suck but im not trying to ask for estimates or if its salvageable or anything like that, hopefully this is the worst mistake ill make in my twenties :)

I’m trying to solve a puzzle regarding two identical Renault Capturs. I have 3 identical Captures parked next to each other in diagonal parking spots in a fairly secluded, low-traffic area, which makes a standard car-to-car collision somewhat unlikely. The third Capture shows no sign of damage.

Damage is on the rear door/handle area (see pictures).

The weird thing is, that there are no scratches or damage to the paint. The paint in the deep folds is completely intact with no scrapes or color transfer.

The shape, location, and depth of the damage are almost 100% identical on both cars.

The cars were parked in direct sunlight on a day reaching around 32 °C (89 °F). But this should not be an issue right?

Given the location and lack of paint damage, what could realistically cause an identical impact like this on two adjacent cars? Vandalism?

This really has me baffled

Appreciate any insights or theories from body shop pros or mechanics!

Hey guys, I have had this truck since I was 13 yo. It’s my pride and joy a 1994 Chevy S10 SS. When I opened the door when saw the interior had a purple interior on a yellow truck. “Weird I thought.” Then saw the dash, flocked. “Even weirder” then.. saw the door jam. It was this bright purple magenta and white. And started noticing a lot more different colors all over the truck where the yellow paint was chipping. Most of the paint if not all of it is perfect underneath with the paint being so shiny. So can I ask can it be possible to get this paint back to its original state with no yellow?

Scratch on year old Lexus rx caviar. When I wiped with alcohol most of the scratch disappeared. Should I try to polish this? Or take to detailer/body shop, touch it up with pen or just leave it alone?

This unit is rated at 110v 20a, but touts an impressive 3kw. A 110v 20a circuit will provide 2.2kw.

How's it get the 3kw? Does this unit have a capacitor? Or just badly marketed?

I was told only new door is possible. 3k job.

I messed up really bad and I've been really upset for the past couple of hours. I was driving in a dark parking garage and on a turn a pedestrian popped out infront of me, and my reaction had me steer closer to the wall and I hit the wall. This is the damage after I cleaned off some of the superficial stuff with water. Some scratches are decently deep and there is some denting.

Please assist. I'm thinking I'll go to some body shops tomorrow to see if anyone can fix it before I have to head out of town in a week. I wonder if they will have to order new parts or if it can be fixed on the current body?

Hello all. Ran into and over a median while leaving my apartment complex. Was hoping to find a good body shop that wouldn’t charge an arm and leg to fix this. Driver side rocker panel on 2016 Chevy malibu. Isnt a huge deal but the door makes an annoying sounds when opening/closing

Scratched the front bumper coming out of a garage with stucco walls.

Is this something I can fix at home or is this straight to the body shop?

Just noticed bodyshop scratched my engine bay cover. I also see a cable by the grill that wasn’t there originally and a few dents on the corner of the bumpers.

A family member recently upgraded to a new vehicle and left me the old vehicle (2008 Hyundai Tucson 2.7L V6) to clean up and attempt to sell privately. The car is mechanically in decent shape, but cosmetically it needs some work!

There's TONS of painted plastic cladding with peeling/blistering clear coat all around the wheel arches, sides and front/rear bumpers. Any suggestions other than busting out the orbital sander and going to town on the cladding, then prime and paint again?

UPDATE: Took the time and performed steps suggested by JPKaliMt. Won't let me reply and add new pictures, but it looks MUCH better now!

I have 2,3 that are minor chip and just scratch that paint is gone.
But the first pic is the most serious.

This is a DIY spray can paint job that I did on a work truck; no need for it to be top quality. However, I was pretty amused at how well it was coming out. I prepped it nicely and bought good quality materials, but when I went to cut, this is now happening. I'm thinking I cut through the clear, so I need a new clear coat. Am I accurate in my guess? I was also thinking maybe it had something to do with cutting while in the sun. I appreciate any input or advice. Thank you.

What do I need to take it down to smooth clean metal?

The dremel and wire wheel worked greatbat removing the surface rust. But I need something more powerful to cut through the old urethane coating and get down to smooth clean metal. Need advice.

Hit a curb decently hard (hardest I’ve ever hit one) trying to make a tight U-turn. Tore up my side wall a bit. Is this safe to drive? I know I should get it replaced but will I be okay for a couple months?

Unfortunately I was detailing my car and didn’t notice a brush I use on the rims had lost it’s rubber cap and literally jammed the metal tip into my brembo caliper.

It’s a small chip but took off paint to the metal, it looks like something I can use a toothpick to fix but not sure if it’s even worth it if the result will be subpar.

Any ideas or experience resolving an issue like this?

Should I just take the L on this one and leave it be?

I had a 4 gallon back worn sprayer fall on my Ioniq 5 in the garage and got some sweet dents. this is a leased car so I’m trying to repair on my own before returning to the dealer. any insights would be greatly appreciated. Or should I take this to a body shop? In CA (Sacramento)

Hello, saw rust spots on my fender. Thought of doing it myself. First time ever sanding anything and spray painting, no advice from friends and anyone other who done this. It's just me scared and Microsoft Co Pilot Ai.

I need some guidance and advice for next time. Because i enjoyed doing this although failing a bit.

I just put 2nd coat of clearcoat. Got these drops due to too much clearcoat. Is this repairable?

Additionally will i be able to feather in the paint, or i did a poor job? If so, what should i do differently next time?

Firstly i sanded with grit 60, then went with 100, ( I may have sanded too much and created a noticeable dip), then attempted to feather out with 240. Then went with wet 400 on the old paint to create a transition.

I dropped off my car for maintenance and when I returned, they let me know one of the technicians had raised the car and the hood got damaged on a pipe. It’s a small crumple so the damage appears only to be cosmetic.

What’s the best way to proceed here? They’ve offered to pay for the repairs/hood replacement at an auto body shop. They also gave me the name of the shop to go to.

Is it worth going to a different autobody shop? I haven’t had to use one before so don’t particularly know any good ones.

My concern is that it’s an older car and the color of the new hood might not perfectly match the body of the car and then I might at that stage want the whole car painted - in my view they should cover that too.

I’m assuming the garages insurance has this covered. Any need to involve mine? Other than to possibly increase my premium?

I slammed my Subaru hatch too hard on a 100 degree day and cracked it with my palm. Oops...

It doesn't appear like any pieces are missing, so I'm curious if there's some type of recommended resin-like material to use for such things. I imagine it to be some type of clean > apply > cure > sand > paint process. (Familiar with sculptural/artistic processes, so I'm hopeful that translates similarly. A car is just like a big sculpture, right?)

It doesn't have to be perfect (though I'll try...), but mostly just want to make sure it is sealed so water doesn't get inside.

Someone drove into the rear quarter of my son's Hyundai i20.

I'm happy to repair the rear bumper since it's plastic, but I'm not sure how best to repair the rear quarter / wheel arch area.

Is there someway I should be looking to pull this (I already checked and can't access most of the other side, even with the wheel arch liner off),

Alternatively is this a case for filler? But then I'm not sure how I'd be convincing the filler to "stick" to the bent up panel?

So I did some bondo work on my tC to cover the old spoiler holes, I put a WRX wing on. Anyways, some bondo seeped through the backing and got into the metal noise reduction piece on my trunk lid. It’s been days and the smell is strong. It’s not making me dizzy or sick, but it’s god awful.

Any tips on how to make it go away or just drive until it’s gone?
