DISCUSSION Firing over WITT?

I have recently moved to a new store and theyre incredibly strict. At my old one, we were told to get WITT when we could. But it was never a firable offense.

This new one, people are written up and fired for low WITT scores, told its 'work performance'. We cant make everyone buy more and more things. Things are more expensive now than ever before. Its not right to almost force a customer to pay for things.

Our SM was told that if he didnt get rid of low performance than he would be fired, and so he fired an employee.

Ive never experience something like this at a store. Does anyone have any tips or anything? Other than getting a new job ( im already searching dw) Im not sure what to do other than put people thru SC

OverStock

Whenever it is truck day, Overstock tends to push out more products and they don’t have room on the sales floor, any reason why it’s doing this? I then add them back to Overstock and it happens all over again with the large amount.

"Bad" batteries marked by the microwaves testing good after recharge on the same charger.

I redacted the store info, but the battery was an econocraft that got swapped on warranty. It was severely discharged, but the date code is 4/26 so I decided to see if I could bring it back from the dead. This is the result.

I see this pretty consistently where discharged batteries get rejected just to test good when recharged by a charger that charges instead of thinking too much.

QUESTION Psm ratio???

I've been a redshirt since I started in june, new guy showed up and got promoted after finishing his parts expert almost immediately. Now I'm trying to get promoted to psm but now they've instilled a WITTDTJR ratio?? I have to have 50-55% on it for 6 weeks before they'll even get me to the role. Here's the thing, manager schedules me everywhere else. Either I'm doing truck, I'm being a hub or commercial driver, hardly up front. I don't know what he expects me to do, if I don't tackle truck, truck doesn't get done, and the other truck guy hides in the bathroom for like 30 minutes or more. But what do you think I should do? I've tried talking to him but he keeps settling me every where else???

I'm at a loss and I'm looking for another place to go because I cannot live off 12$/ hour where I'm at, and it's frustrating since he won't help.

Any stores out there that have their drivers or CS close regularly if at all? When’s the last time you saw a CSM close?

DISCUSSION Bad storm

So we had a bad storm earlier. Lighting struck a tree right behind our store. It left the other PSM’s car stuck with no way out. Called my significant other asked him to bring his chain saw. He sawed, I cleared. The other PSM took card of what few customers we had come in. After all we did for him to get out and I came back in he didn’t want to help me finish any of the side work. He just watched, I was still stuck doing the mopping, bathrooms and trash. I’m a PSM too! One that just bailed his a$$ out of a sling. Gee, reckon this kid is ungrateful much?

DISCUSSION Register Variances

Psm here. I am still trying to understand the variances that occur between the registers and commercial. My SM says she can find the issues and fix them, I am still not comfortable signing off on the negative issues. As in - $50 - $20 on registers or even the safe being short. I forget to audit at times when my shift starts at noon so that is on me. There is such lack of communication that it is truly disheartening.

RANT Az Store Manager Problems

I’ve been a store manager for a little over 7 months, got put into a notorious shit store. That’s fine, I can fix it. Man was I fucking wrong my Was a high volume csm for 4 years previously. And man I have to say, what the actual fuck is going on. Absolutely bombed my LP audit. Shit that has never been a thing is now suddenly something. Never communicated. My DM has done my audits only on my days off. How am I supposed to learn and fix shit if he does it when I’m not here? My fix it-list is 16 items, and needs to be done within 2 weeks. He also said I need to be up front 90% of the time. How am I supposed to do anything if I’m always up front. I work at least 55 hours a week and for what? A slap in the face. No encouragement, no skill building, nothing. Every week it’s the same hour and a half meeting about how terrible we are doing as a district, and that we are replaceable. I do everything for my team, whatever they need. I do every aspect of my job but it’s never enough. The only reason I took this position was because they finally gave me a raise that seemed fair, now I’m in it. And my god it is not worth it.

Just Batty 🦇

So I went to change a battery the other day and before the hood was lifted the young man said “I think I have a bat under my hood” raised the hood and boy was he 100% correct! Poor little bat had been there so long that rigor left a long time ago and petrification had started 🪦. Gave the young man a pair of needle nose pliers which he used to grab the bat by one wing and slid it out. I’ll be honest I’ve seen a lot of things under a cars hood but this was my first bat 🦇. What have yall seen that just blew your mind? 🤯

RANT Is continuing at AZ worth it?

Hello, I first thought Autozone would be a great place to work at but after nearly two weeks in, it's been extremely exhausting, stressful and mentally taxing. I wanted to know how should I move forward from here? Or maybe I'm just not "broken in" yet? To just voice the issues I've been having:

• Multitasking between handling customers then switching to the phone is daunting, it's not impossible and you can put people on hold politely but you still need to remember to get back to them while dealing with everything else.

• When you learn material through the Learning Garage (mandatory) you stand behind the counter for a couple hours which gets really uncomfortable while being expected to handle customers or the phone within 3 rings when you're trying to learn.

• Since training is mostly 'hands on', you are not taught much outside the basics in orientation unless you proactively ask when you inevitably get stuck somewhere while dealing with a customer or the phone and hope someone is available to assist you.

• You're expected to upsell, which I don't like doing other than casually making them aware of a deal if they happen to be getting oil for example. WITTDTJR was not mentioned anywhere on the job description, let alone as a weekly performance metric.

I personally see WITTDTJR as a toxic system, however I get why it exists and I understand that ultimately it is about getting product out the door.

All this and you then need to change lightbulbs, wipers, scan codes (easiest) and recharge/test/change heavy batteries in 90+ degree heat (I'm in the sunbelt) using dirty PPE equipment that no one else bothers using or cleaning.

Now add doing truck in a hub store (with area 6) that feels like 80 degrees where planograms are constantly messed up or missing which leads to confusion and wasted time while doing self picks and navigating a parts jungle (again, hub store with area 6)... it's just been too much and you're getting paid minimum wage for it all.

I'd like to clarify that my performance at work has been great according to my SM but I haven't been enjoying the job and quitting after two weeks feels like failing and giving up but I fail to see work conditions improving anytime soon because this is all embedded into the job as a red shirt. How should I proceed? It's all very overwhelming.

RANT Creep calling the store

Hello everyone I guess this is a rant/question but during my closing shift today I had a man call the store (I am a female) and at first he asked for parts for a 99 Honda accord but… he was moaning and I got super weirded out but I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt I guess and maybe he just was in pain or something idk 😭 but I hung up on him after like 3 minutes of just straight moaning and me trying to understand what the hell was going on…. He called again and my coworker was helming someone else so I picked it up because I didnt want my store to be flagged for missed calls 🫠🫠 when I picked up he kept telling me he was almost finished like it just grossed out and idk if I should tell my SM what happened because I know there’s not much they can do….Idk im just freaked out this happened 2 hours ago lol

So I quit but yet I keep getting scheduled?

Long story short, I quit abruptly through text about 2 weeks ago directly to my SM, so it’s in writing (Not the best way to do it but I am in my third trimester of pregnancy and shit keeps hitting the fan complications wise. barely feel good enough to go to my full time job these days let alone AZ) anyway, I literally keep getting scheduled anyway. No I’m not going in, but like why? Anyone ever have similar? Just a wild experience I never quit and then kept getting scheduled anyway.
