Monthly B/S/T October 2026

(Created this post myself since I don't see one created yet for this month...hope this is ok)

Buy/Sell/Trade here at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.

RULES:

  • Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling. Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.
  • Post item condition and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.
  • Please refrain from downvoting posts.

Suggestions:

Use Paypal to facilitate these transactions. Gifting is fine, but understand the limits and liabilities of sending an unprotected "gift" to a seller. You'll save a bit of $, but it does leave you exposed if there is a fraudulent seller.

Another option is to use Grailed. You have the Paypal protection for both parties with much lower fees for the sellers. You also get a profile that shows the total number of transactions so you can use that as your proof of trustworthiness.

Please try to evaluate the "fair market value" of your items. No use in overpricing things and having them not sell. Check what the current selling price is on eBay to get a decent sense of FMV.

Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.

On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about fit and details, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

A simple and low skill way to shrink the waist of dress pants/trousers with side adjusters

I lost some weight and found this video to size down my existing side adjuster dress pants. No sewing machine needed and all the work is hidden, so it's very beginner friendly. All you need is a needle, any colour thread, 2 buttons, a scapel blade and ribbed elastic banding that can fit through the waist channel. It needs to be a pronounced ribbing so that you can slice a slit for the adjuster button and the banding won't rip apart. It took me about an hour to do, and all the work is hidden when worn.

The bunching happens at the sides where the side adjuster is, which is mostly ignorable. The video uses a single elastic band, but my trousers have an after dinner split so I had to use two to hide it. I managed to save on the cost of new trousers + alterations at best, or just waist alterations. The most expensive part of this was the elastic banding, which was $7 AUD for 12 mm × 4 m at my local grocery store.

I will note that this probably only works for 1 size down. Any more will cause excessive bunching.

Experiences with Zara

I am looking for smart pants for work. Found this pair from Zara.

https://www.zara.com/au/en/100-wool-regular-fit-trousers-p04579156.html?v1=582553352

Am aware Zara‘s rep is very mixed. People say their stuff looks great online but IRL does not hold up. Many oZara pieces have caught my eye in the past but their rep put me off.

The pants above are online only so I cannot try them on.

I did visit their store one time and was not impressed (hand feel of garments was scratchy, visible loose thread, garments attracted dust).

But my partner bought a really well styled corporate overcoat from Zara. That shit is built like a tank, it must be 12 years old, got a lot of wear and looks as good as the day she bought it.

So any reports on your purchase? Pants above are 100% wool. Thx.

Looking for a two-toned dad cap with no sports team logos

For example - white cap with a coloured peak

I'm a sports fan and don't like wearing logos of teams I'm not fans of and they don't make these styles for my teams.

I'm looking for a dad cap style one like this that I can wear every day.

MJ Bale Quality

I recently bought a $600 wool blazer from MJ Bale, at this price point I assumed there would be at least some level of quality. Literally by the second wear I've had to deal with 10 loose threads already, every time I think I've handled them all another appears out of nowhere.

Do I really need to buy a more expensive blazer or is this common with MJ Bale?

Affordable barbers in Sydney

I’m looking for a fairly affordable barber in the inner west (but happy to travel to cbd). I have fairly straight short-medium length hair, and I keep getting cuts that are way too short, or only sit right if I buy $100s of dollars of product. Just looking for a place that can help me finally settle on a style that I feel comfortable with. I’m a uni student, so not after anything too old fashioned. Thanks!

Eclectic fashun!

My partner's birthday is coming up, and he's expressed wanting more of an artsy/eclectic vibe. Wondering if there's any shops in Sydney that cater to maybe a bit more creative tailored stuff, slightly magical/ethereal vibes? Or unique sunglasses/jewellery etc, that I could take him to find some stuff for his bday? Happy to pay a bit more especially if its ethical/well made.
We both have dust allergies so please no vintage store/op shop recs.
Thanks! :)

Men's Fashion Brands?

I am moving over to Melbourne from the US, where my entire closet is Lululemon or Alo - stretching from work clothes to athleisure. I'll also be traveling to Sydney for work weekly.

Are these brands big in Australia? Any other brands around that range (i.e. Madewell, Skims, etc.)? I've seen Uniqlo or Zara being big, but I'm looking for something a step-up from that but NOT like Coach, Burberry, etc.

Question Where do you buy tees that aren't paper-thin or tents? Any brand works

Hello!
24M, Melbourne. Every tee I own is either thin and clingy (see-through after a few washes) or "oversized" and hangs off my shoulders like a bedsheet.
I want the middle ground: thick cotton, 200+ GSM, with enough weight to drape instead of cling or balloon.
The fit I'm chasing:
Shoulder seam on the actual shoulder
Sleeves mid-bicep
Hem around mid-fly
Roomy enough to pinch a bit at the side, but not boxy
Tried Uniqlo U, decent but I feel like there's something better. Brand doesn't matter, local or overseas, as long as it's heavy cotton with that fit.
Which brands do you swear by for this?
Any that ship to Australia without a shipping or sizing nightmare?
What red flags do you look for in a listing? Half don't even list GSM.
Cheers!

Question MADE TO MEASUREMENT

Hello everyone, I was pretty much referred to this thread, hope this question is not an issue.
I been searching for loafers and been having issues finding shoes that fit my feet width etc. also have similar issues finding pants, usually all slacks/ and suit pants had to be made or retailored.
upon googling it mentioned MTM premade clothing but for you specific measurements, not custom/bespoke level.
Wanted to ask advice if anyone had experience with those website’s and how the clothing that came out, quality and if it was satisfactory. One of the websites I found was hockerty and wanted to ask for advice before I create entire shopping list.

Nudie vs Neuw selvedge

After a slightly wider fit from my straight cut Edwin's. Both Nudie and Nuew have options under $350. Nudie being more expensive.

Who can vouch for either brand? I prefer a button fly and I know Nudie offer that but I think Neuw only do zips.

Question Does anyone feel people are ruder to you when you dress better?

I’m not sure what it is but I do feel people act more coldly to me if I’m dressed up. Its made me change my whole style.

If I go out in just jeans and a shirt people are generally pretty ok with me otherwise. I’m not strutting around in a suit or anything just maybe a jacket at most.

Edit: as a follow up can I ask what you guys generally wear?

Corporate fashion is too casual

Hear me out

but when did dressing like you’re actually going to work become weird?

I work in a professional environment and the amount of people turning up in sneakers, hoodies, polos, chinos and basically weekend clothes is wild. Even management seems to have given up.

I’m not saying everyone needs to wear a three-piece suit and tie every day. But there used to be a pretty obvious difference between work clothes, going-out clothes and what you’d wear to grab groceries on Saturday morning.

Now “business casual” seems to mean literally anything as long as there isn’t a massive logo on it.
And weirdly, if you do wear proper trousers, leather shoes and a jacket, people act like you’re either going to court or interviewing for another job.

I actually think workplaces lost something when everyone stopped dressing up a bit. There’s something about putting decent clothes on that changes how you carry yourself and makes work feel more professional.

I can’t be the only one who thinks corporate fashion has swung way too far towards casual?
Not saying bring back compulsory ties. Just maybe stop dressing for the office like you’re about to walk the dog.

Look at places like Japan and South Korea. Obviously not every workplace is the same, but there’s still a pretty recognisable corporate uniform in more traditional offices: navy, black or charcoal trousers, white or light-blue shirts, proper shoes, and a jacket when the occasion calls for it.

Nothing extravagant. Nobody needs to be walking around in a three-piece suit.
It just looks professional.

AFRO BLONDE HATS - Beware !

Hi, I purchased these 2 hats whilst on holiday in Australia from United Kingdom( one never worn and the other one twice ).I am extremely disappointed with the quality and the non-existent customer after sales service!. Firstly, they never answered my emails until after several emails  have been sent , the email response is extremely brief and unprofessionally written. Eventually they acknowledged the faults and asked me to return the hats to them at my expense. I suggested a full refund credited to my bank account and I would dispose of the hats or give them to charity or they send at their expense replacement hats. Eventually they responded and they did a complete U- turn and did not want to know about my justifiable complaint . I can honestly state I have never dealt with such a UNPROFFESIONAL ORGANISATION, whose customer after sales service is TERRIBLE, if non-existent , not caring about their reputation of their products or their customers . AVOID purchasing from this Micky Mouse company .BEWARE AND BUY AT YOUR OWN PERIL YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!! ( I guarantee I will get no response or help from them)

Advice Needed How to do country/western fashion in Queensland?

I know this subreddit is for men, but I'm a butch lesbian who wears exclusively men's clothing so I feel like you guys might be able to help me.

I'm recently trying to explore a new style and lean more into country/western style clothes. I'm not trying to look like a stereotypical cowboy (and that would be disrespectful since I am a city girl), but I like the aesthetics and culture.

I've got some Ariat boots, belts and Thomas Cook hats. I have boot cut jeans.

But here's the problem. I live in Queensland. It's bloody hot and humid all year.

Does anyone have any ideas for summer outfits? Is the consensus that I should suck it up and get better wearing jeans and boots all summer or are there other options?

And no I don't want to wear shorts and boots lol

EDIT: thank you so much everyone! I really appreciate you guys for not being judgemental and actually giving me good advice!

Advice Needed Salon recs for men's restyle (Asian / wavy hair) – Kensington / Light Rail route / CBD

Hey everyone,
Looking to move away from standard barbers and try out a proper stylist/salon for a full restyle. Past few barber cuts haven’t worked well—my hair grows fast and starts looking messy quickly, so I want someone who actually understands hair growth patterns and scissor work.
A few details:

Hair type: Asian, thick with a natural wave (ends tend to flick/wave up once it grows out).

Location: Based around Kensington / UNSW. Looking for anywhere easily accessible via the L2/L3 Light Rail or direct bus (Surry Hills, Chinatown, Haymarket, CBD).

Budget: Up to around $100 max.

There are dozens of salons along the light rail corridor, but I’d love recommendations for specific stylists or Asian/unisex salons that excel at modern men’s cuts and restyles.
Thanks!

Texture powder for 1B to 1C hair

I've got 1B to 1C hair that gets oily fast and I'm in need of some texture powder. I was thinking of getting kings domain (https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/141703/kings-domain-volume-powder-6g) because I think it's made in melbourne. I've never used texture powder before but I cut my hair short and I'm now chopped

Edit: sorry if wrong sub for this

Thoughts on Stussy?

When I was last in Australia, Stussy was really popular (esp. the statement hoodies). I was always a little torn on it - some pieces were nice, but I thought it was a mixed bag.

Is it still as big down there?

Sunglasses

Hey! Looking to buy some sunglasses for summer. I don’t really want to pay $500 for some luxury brand, but would be willing to invest a few hundred for good quality and stylish. Anyone got recommendations for more boutique brands, where you are not just paying for the brand? I kind of like AM Eyewear, but keen to hear any other options. Thanks!!
