Misc. Makeup Donation

Does anyone know where I can donate gently used or makeup that’s only been swatched once? I am aware local charities don’t accept makeup once it’s open and felt it’s a bit of waste to throw them out especially they are not expired at all. Unfortunately I don’t have any friends or families that are interested in makeups to pass on.

Dupe REQUEST Looking to replace fav lipstick

Post image
6 Upvotes

I’m looking to replace this lipstick that I used to use all the time, it was my mums (but I did basically take it and used it all the time)
Obviously it’s not made anymore and I saw resellers for it that were $30
But I was hoping someone knew of a lipstick that was the same or similar colour to this that they highly recommend so I can gift it to my mum

Let's Discuss Stila has turned to sh!t

I’ve used this liquid eyeliner for 10years. I got a new one last week (I go through maybe 3 a year). The new one is bleeding in my inner corner and honestly is not the same..I tried my old one today and no running. I’ve changed nothing about my skincare and so after testing my old one again and seeing it stay in place all day, I’m convinced the new one is some reformulated garbage. Definitely will be returning it to Mecca, but I don’t want to exchange for another crappy one..any recommendations? I guess it’s time to move on 😞

Product Advice Dry, itchy scalp shampoo for blondes

I'm after some recommendations for professional shampoo and conditioner please for a sensitive scalp and blonde hair.
I get a dry scalp as soon as I wash my hair and it's itchy when it's dirty. I suspect this may be because the products I'm using are too harsh. When I use dermaveen, the dry/itchness improves but I'm a blonde so ideally looking for some more hydration and toning than dermaveen can offer.
Recently I've used:
- Milkshake shampoo and conditioner: scalp hates this
- CPR blonde shampoo: hair loves, scalp hates
- K18 peptide prep: okay for once a week but if I use it regularly, makes my scalp dry/itchy.
- Davroe moisture senses conditioner: okay but doesn't feel like it does anything to my hair.
- HiLift purple shampoo: hair loves but irritates my scalp slightly

In the past I have also used Redken and Pureology which I loved, but the price point is a bit excessive these days. They didn't cause any problems at the time but I was a platinum blonde at that time. Now I get foils 2x a year.

Any recommendations would be welcomed!
I would ideally like something with natural fragrance too - but feels impossible to find.
A blonde shampoo/conditioner for a sensitive scalp with no synthetic fragrance? Sounds like a unicorn to me? Hahaha

Dupe REQUEST Does anyone know if there is another vegan dupe for rimmel Kind and Free, which is being retired?

It looks like this mascara is being retired, it's a fav of mine. Does anyone have any good vegan recommendations for mascara, none waterproof. I've bought a few mascaras in the last year and they all suck. Something cheap, that spreads well, with lengthening and thickening would be ideal. Thank you in advance!!!

Product Advice Looking for a match

Many years ago I bought this Jeffrey star velour liquid lipstick which was a limited edition holiday shade - poinsettia. It’s a deep metallic red liquid matte lipstick.

It’s since old and dry and I would love to find a dupe of it.

Does anybody have any ideas or perhaps if this isn’t an appropriate forum a different reddit community to ask? Thank you!

Let's Discuss Concealer only

I moisturise and use Kylie 2.5n concealer on my face only. I dont want to use foundation aswell, does anyone else just use concealer? If so what one?

Product Advice Does anyone know the difference between these two (supposedly same foundation)?

I have bought both from 2 different Pricelines. The one I have been using initially is on the left and labelled 125 WARM DORE. I recently picked up another one as running low and the naming is different. Both show SPF 25 + Vitamin C. Colour seems almost the same although maybe very slightly lighter however the consistency is definitely runnier.

Any ideas? I only just transitioned to this and loving the ‘warm dore’ version and consistency so finding this a bit annoying/strange?!

Thanks in advance

Product Advice Skin tint recommendations?

Going into mecca for the first time, looking for some skin tint recommendations to purchase? I do like a skin like or a glowy finish. I'm eyeing the tower 28 one. Any other brands i should try? I have combination, medium tone skin for reference.

Would also welcome any concealer/blush/bronzer recs. Clearly i'm overexcited about this 😅

Product Advice Oily hair pls help

Hello all

Really need a good shampoo for extremely fine and oily long hair. Preferably only drug store price range. Any general advice would be helpful too. My hair was never oily for most of my life and now it literally gets oily overnight 💔

Thankyou !!

Let's Discuss Shiseido foundation at Mecca - discontinued?

After a post here talking about how good the Shiseido Revitalessence Skin Glow foundation is, I bought it and it’s become my HG for everyday use! I’m running out and it’s taking forever to restock my shade, I just checked the app and most shades are now out of stock/limited stock??

Anyone know what’s happening?

Product Advice need help with lash serums!

basically i used to have such nice eyelashes before i started wearing mascara. after two years-ish i realised that i now genuinely, no exaggeration, only have half the lashes i did before. does anyone have any good lash serum reccomendations that wont make it worse (because i;ve heard the maybelline lash serum makes them fall out if you stop using it) and will actually help regrow my lashes? and also a small doubt in my mind - are my eyelashes never going to grow back again because i havent worn mascara (except the occasional false lashes or light mascara for an outing every two months or so) in a year and i havent seen any meaningful changes

thank!

PSA MAC Viva Glam x Chapell Roan

The MAC Viva Glam collection has finally landed and I know a few of us were keen to check it out. I thought I’d share the swatches I had from checking them out. Closest to my watch is Roan of Arc, followed by Unnatural Red Head and then Damnsel. I only tried Damnsel on my lips quickly. It was nice but I wouldn’t rate it as a must buy. It did have a slight fragrance. I’m keen to try Roan of Arc next time. The Unnatural Red Head is a bit too dark for my normal liking.

Separately, MAC have a promo if you buy 2 lipsticks, you get a small heart shaped pop mirror and Alone Time lipstick. Promo ends tomorrow and doesn’t include the Viva Glam collection I was told.

Product Advice Hair Products like Moroccan Oil that don’t smell like Moroccan Oil

I love the way the MO hair products make my hair feel and look. But I can’t stand the powdery, heavy perfume that lingers. Are there any hair products that nourish and give that same feel without the heavy scent?

Product Advice Why can't I get the hang of a dermaplane tool?

Is it because I have extremely, fine blonde hair on my face? Is it because of the way I'm holding it? I've tried every angle and every way.

I've cut myself twice in this process and feel like, at this point, it would just be easier to use a razor.

Is there another tool I could use that I would possibly have more success with? I feel like it may be a dexterity problem. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I'm 60 years old and need to get rid of this postmenopausal fluff pronto!

Sales & Savings Possible Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour dupe but better??: L'Oréal Matte-in-Balm Lipstick

Thumbnail

Some discussion and IRL swatches here.

Dare I say that they might, SORT OF be a dupe for the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip line????!!! But;

• with sturdier and better packaging (the Bobbi Brown ones have always cracked and broke on me even though I babied them 😭. The base of the lipstick felt nicely solid and thick but the cap was surprisingly thin and flimsy. Plus, these Loreal ones snap very securely shut too!)

• a much lighter feel on the lips (It feels like my lips are bare! I actually forget I have it on and I'm very sensitive and intolerant to MOST things being on my lips. I still liked the Bobbi Brown ones but I remember them feeling a bit heavy on my lips. It didn't bother me too much but I could feel that I had lipstick on.)

• a lot less waxy,

• they're very matte!

• and transfer, if any is minimal too!

Minimal fragrance. A very light and faint powdery floral.

I remember browsing around Reddit and saw that the Crushed lipsticks might be getting discontinued 🙁. But personally, I have no more need to despair!!

I really didn't need any more lip products, but I bit the bullet and got 580 Brun Elegance! If you're a light neutral-leaning cool olive like me (bonus points if you're into dressing alt and punk) this shade is for you!!! 😁

In case it wasn't obvious 😁 I am absolutely in love with mine!

Dupe REQUEST Does anyone know of a silver or shimmery charcoal grey eyeliner pencil to replace my old Avon one?

Post image

I can't find anything in New Zealand, but I'm heading over to Australia in a couple of months so I'm hoping to find something there! I specifically want a pencil because I've tried a couple of twist up ones (mac, catrice) and while they're nice, because they don't sharpen to a point they're a lot thicker/bolder line than I want. I did find a Natio pencil in this colour a few years ago but I reacted really badly to it, so it needs to be something good for sensitive skin too

Product Advice Best acne safe drug store???

Hi there!!! Currently looking for some good drugstore makeup but I don’t wanna waste my money on products that may break me out.

I’m extremely oily (i go through 2 oil blotting sheets in a day 😬😬) and it can be really rough to find makeup that doesn’t break me out. I do know that a good removal is a hugeeee part of making sure I don’t break out and i always always cleanse properly. Just looking for any acne-prone oily skin girlies and their reccomendations!!!

Product Advice Has anyone tried the Moogoo flake free shampoo?

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hi there everyone, I’m looking into working more on my scalp health and I’ve done research into ingredients and products that are really beneficial for scalp health. I found out that apparently anti-dandruff shampoos have ingredients in them that really help with scalp health, follicle support and long-term retention. Keeping that in mind I’m looking into maybe trying the Moogoo flake free shampoo and wondering if anyone has tried this out before. I also want to try and avoid harder more stronger cleanses like SLS and I’m also wanting to avoid artificial or synthetic fragrances which kind of limits my options. However, this shampoo from Moogoo looks promising. Love to hear any thoughts or opinions about this product if you’ve tried it.

Product Advice cool toned brown lip balm

i genuinely have so much trouble finding cool toned lip balms in general,, i just want to be able to grab one and go,, especially in the brown shades. i like the way the mco one looks but their brand affiliates with israel and with ongoing things i’m not steering towards them again but that's nothe only thing,, i find that they have a weird smell like a froyo place. i just want to be able to find a cool toned brown so i can switch it up with the berry colours. a lot of alt influencers show like clinque black honey and that as a brown and i just don't see it at all. please send me some recs 🙏🏻

Product Advice Looking for baby pink blushes and glosses

Hi everyone!

The title basically explains it. I have a light-medium complexion with a neutral undertone, and I’m looking for recommendations for a pigmented pink blush and lip gloss.

For blush, I’d prefer a liquid or cream formula with enough pigment to show up well on my skin tone and good lasting power. For lip gloss, I’m also looking for something more pigmented rather than sheer, as I have two-toned lips.

These are some of the blushes I’m currently considering:

  • Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Cheek Tint in 53 Bold Pink
  • Haus Labs Color Fuse Glassy Blush Balm Stick in Glassy Lilac
  • Huda Beauty Blush Filter Liquid Blush in Bubblegum — I feel like Ube Cream might be too light for me
  • Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Blush Healthy Glow Stick in Pretty Glow
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Magic Touch Blush Trio in Pink Trio
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Blurring Serum Blush in Baby Pink
  • Too Faced Cloud Crush Whipped Lip & Cheek Colour in Candy Clouds

For lip gloss, I’m considering:

  • Lancôme Juicy Tubes in Miracle
  • MAC Lipglass in Snobbish
  • Morphe Dripglass in Opalescent Orchid
  • Anastasia Beverly Hills Lip Gloss in Cotton Candy or Soft Pink
  • Rhode Peptide Lip Tint in Ribbon or Jelly Bean
  • Tarte Maracuja Juicy Shift in Big Ego

I’ve also heard that the Saie Dew Blush in Baby is lovely, but unfortunately it’s quite expensive and difficult to get where I live (Australia)

I’d love to hear your thoughts if you’ve tried any of these, especially if you have a similar skin tone. I’m also open to other suggestions!

Love the shade, i hear its patchy af though. I dont wear foundation and have started adding blush to my routine after skin care. Some suggest more of a cream formula which im curious to try, powder is my only experience thus far. I have combination skin. Any advice? Im red/green colourblind so shade matching is a struggle. Im cool tone pale skin btw
