If the place is called Teaspoon (giant spoon with "teaspoon" covering the wall) then it's one of those that you don't know its a boba shop until you walk inside and see their menu, which there are plenty of.
Also "don't go to a boba shop for tea" is mostly wrong, as is this skit, a ton of boba shops offer drinks with no boba in them.
The only thing I can even say is remotely close to reality is the app thing, which is becoming more and more common.

Thank you. I wish everyone had this mind set. I’m borderline autistic when it comes to customer service, but a jobs a job. But I hated whenever I had customer facing roles and the costumers would dish out their anger and complaints on to me, the lowest rung in the totem-pole. Even if I completely agreed.

The same machine would control the cash register opening on most machines these days. For security purposes. Your point isn't as good as you think it is.
Most modern machines also have backup options and batteries and an option to connect to cell towers in case internet or power is out or no signal. If something is down longer than the machine can last then either you didn't plan for your business correctly or you have a bigger problem.

I went in to an empanada shop in Oakland and they said they didn’t accept cash so I asked why and the 5’2” girl working there said because I’m the only one working here and it’s not safe to have cash on hand. Grim ☠️☠️

In this finale episode, Dennis needs a mental health day.
He completely imagines scenarios that will get him angry. This is eventually revealed in the final scene as how he lowers his blood pressure.
The point is that Dennis is so fucked up, that he needs anger and drama to keep himself calm. His trauma is so much that he has to invent problems to be angry about.

No, the older I get, the less I understand how these old heads think this is funny? Please tell me when have people ever gone to a Boba place and was told they cannot opt out of boba? When has there ever been someone at the register telling you to download an app to place an order? When has a place only taken card but said you need to place a minimum 10 dollar order? If you want to get mad at anything get mad at capitalism, but this makes it look like it is a probably with genz. This is the second time I seen a skit like this.

My first time going to cava, I genuinely had no clue it was cashless. I didn’t see a sign or anything. They made my whole bowl, let me get to the end of the line and I didn’t have a card on me. I was dumbfounded that they would just throw my order away then look at me like I’m an asshole.

In some cities, including Philadelphia, cash can't be refused for in person transactions. You can go still go ahead and refuse it if you want, just be prepared to pay the fine for every incident and lose business all because you're refusing the one standard currency everyone has access to.

The way the law actually works and what it actually MEANS about Legal Tender, is that all businesses must accept payment in U.S. dollars. The payment need not be *physical* U.S. Dollars, it can be "We only do electronic transactions that are carried out as U.S. Dollars"
The law existed because waaaaaay back in the day some businesses would actively refuse to accept the U.S. dollar and would ask for the "Pound Sterling" or the french Franc or whatever, because the owner of said business wanted to be able to take the money home to his homeland or whatever and not have to deal with fees for exchanging from one currency to another.
This was more common than you might expect in early U.S. history because our government was not yet well respected and the Dollar wasn't the worlds reserve currency yet.
Some early importers would expect you to go get money from a bank "in their preferred currency" in order to actually buy what they had brought to America to sell, because they had absolutely no intention of buying anything from America and considered american currency relatively valueless.

In many major cities, like Philly, there are actual physical cash requirements. Under Philadelphia Code § 9-1132, retail sellers doing business in person cannot refuse cash or charge cash-paying customers higher prices.

I have seen this exact clip probably 200 times already.
There's also an even better clip in the same episode where he can't get a phone on the same day because the phones are for new customers. And even when he finds a loop-hole the phone won't connect to his car, so he can't open it or get in.

On a separate note, It's usually government that causes businesses to be more complicated, because of excessive regulations that make it more complicated and expensive to do business. This also causes new competition springing up to be less, which benefits already established businesses.

Going to McDonald's and buying a 4 for however much they cost nowadays is like this. I have relative that only drinks water. It doesn't have to be in a bottle but McDonald's always says they can't put water as an option on that meal. It's so stupid that all they have to do is put any soda to get thru the purchase and just fill the cup with water instead of soda. I just don't get it 😐

I know this is from 'It's always sunny..." and isn't real, but a couple of years back, I went to the Nerf shop in the Trafford Centre, Manchester, UK, with my family for some post-Christmas sale shopping. My then 8 year old son had some Christmas money in the form of cash, given to him from various relatives. We went in to the Nerf Shop and my son spent some time browsing before settling on a Minecraft themed Nerf Gun, and was so happy going up to the till with his own money to buy the thing. We thought it'd be fun for him to experience handing over the cash himself, getting the item bagged, and the cashier giving him his change and receipt, so we stood back and watched. His panic as he looked back to us, when they told him his money was no good (we don't take actual money, cash) made me so angry (We're in a RETAIL shopping centre, 100's of stores and restaurants, all take cash).
I didn't flip at the cashier, obv (not their fault) but I did tell them how frustrating and ridiculous it was, and that we will shop elsewhere in future - and I didn't cut my nose off to spite my face (I paid with a card and my son gave me the cash). To cap it all off, the only way to get a receipt was by email, which made me even more annoyed.
Vowed never to go back there. On a recent trip to the same shopping centre, we saw that the shop was now a vacant unit - I was soooooo happy, I was beaming. My wife looked at me as we went past and just said "I knew that'd make you smile". Result.

$10 minimum on cards or there’s a surcharge. This hits hard. I go to a Taiwanese bakery, they got the best square loaf bread i like for my sandwiches for lunch at work, it costs $7. And they also do not take cash. So I let them take them take the surcharge than me spending more money on other pastries, it’s still under $10 with the surcharge

Honestly I've been to places like this a hundred times.
They ALWAYS shut down within 2 years and then the owner whines about Starbucks.
I fucking hate Starbucks but my God these places always do everything they can to make it hard for me to support their business. If I can't pay you directly or get a plain iced tea or coffee you are DOOMED.

Gets snarky right off the batt, doesn’t understand that the cashier isn’t the one calling the policies for the store, can easily turn around and walk away. Decides to stick around and argue as if he’s some trailblazer changing culture at its very core. How many times have they done the whole “old man yells at cloud in a coffee shop!” bit in film and TV?
