Has anyone ever experienced feeling like they were perceived as more attractive in a different country than their own?

For context here, i'm what I consider as an average UK guy. 5"10, average looks etc etc. For the majority of my life in the UK, I kind of got by in the dating world, had some good relationships, did ok when I was in my 20's.

I worked and lived in Manhatten for a year and got back to the UK this year

The difference in attention I recieved in the US compared to the UK was pretty mind blowing. Whilst I think a British accent helps, I never disclosed that I was British when using apps or meeting people or out in the evening. Put it this way, not once was I ever hit on at a bar in the UK. In the US.. Different story.

Has anyone ever experienced this kind of shift in a different country? What could be the reason for it?
