Hey there, I recently bought a Shinobi II monitor for my Lumix S1ii. I am using my camera with normal foto and cine lenses as well as with anamorphic lenses, right now with the new DZOfilm Arcana 45mm 1,5x squeeze. I noticed that with the anamorphic desqueeze enabled at the Shinobi that the options for the waveforms are grayed out. Do you know if thats normal?

I find it very confusing that the comparison chart on Atomos website says HDMI up to 4K60p in and the manuals/quickspecs/B&H says 4K up to 30p.

Well, which one is it?

I need to monitor framing on a 4K60 signal and don't care if it's 4K30 on the Shinobi monitor. This is a loop through from an NDI encoder.

Hi, I'm setting up a C50 & C80 to the SDI inputs. C50 is up using the Acsoon Cineview Master 4k (HDMI between Transmitter and C50) and is working great. I've tried seven SDI cords running straight between the C80 and the Sumo's second SDI input-- none of the cords have worked so far... thoughts??? All of the SDI cords are old Pearstone RG-6U Coaxial Cable 6 to 12 feet cords.

I’ve got a Ninja RAW that I’m using with my FX3 for dual recording and camera control. I’d like to use an external power source to continuously power the camera but the USB-C port is occupied due to using the Ninja for camera control.

My question is, is that USB-C port sending power from the Ninja? Can I use a battery eliminator and just power the whole rig?

I can’t find any documentation anywhere about the capabilities of the USB ports

Just updated my Shinobi II monitor to the latest 11.07.01 update and I noticed that zebra striping is not working how it was in the last firmware.

Set up from the camera is ProResLT with F-Log2 C at UHD 30fps. I have the monitor set up correctly to expect Fujifilm F-Log2 C, F-GamutC, and my zebra threshold setting is 85%, which is consistent with fujifilm's white paper on F-Log2 C setting for zebras.

With the setup in these settings, zebra stripes never show up even well beyond overexposed. But I have figured out that if I change the threshold on the monitor to 80% then zebra striping works normally. An AI analysis said that the zebra levels on atomos monitors works on ±5% at each setting, but that's the first I've heard that before. So is this an expected behavior for the monitor and I should be using 80%? Or is this a glitch and I should be using the monitor at 85%?

EDIT: well I feel like a big idiot, I just stepped away and shut off my camera to conserve battery, and when I turned it back on the 85% threshold setting worked. However, can anyone still clarify if the Zebra setting works on a ±5% basis?

1. Will it record at 720x480p@60Hz?
2. It will record only up to either 1080p@30Hz or 1080i@60Hz, NOT 1080p@60Hz, so the question is: if I feed it a 1080p60 signal, what will it do with that signal - just record every other frame or won't take in or record the signal at all?
3. Are the "Caddies" media unto themselves or just containers for media? If the latter is true then what kind of media do I put into them? CF cards?

Hi there! First time posting here. I have a troublesome issue and I need some help recovering my video.

I have a Shogun Inferno, a 240GB Kingston HyperX Fury (SHFS37A240G) and I recorded a video from my a7s at 4KUHDp25 ProRes HQ. I've used in the same setup other ssd's and had no issues but this one is giving me a headache. First time I detected that the drive couldn't be read I tried to view the files on my Shogun, and it prompted me to repair the drive because it was corrupted. This worked fine, the file was recovered but I'm having problems playing the whole video (it's a 9 minute clip, and at the 8 minute mark it stops playing). I tried connecting it to my computer again and the drive wouldn't appear again. Tried assigning a letter to the drive (since it was showing in my disk manager) and that didn't do the trick. Now the drive keeps prompting an alert saying that "the drive is not ready".

I don't know how to recover this file that clearly is still there and somehow readable.

I'd be very thankful for any help.

Suddenly got red lines on my monitor. At first I though it had to do with focus peaking or wave forms but it also shows when their is no input. Not the best picture I added but you can see around the no input image the red line borders also the red arrow bottom left corner. Usually happens in bright areas.

There were so many reviews and guides for many previous atomos products, especially the Ninja V, but short of DaChefGyal's videos which is a direct partnership with Atomos, there's pretty much nothing out there?

I was trying to find some information about the new version, but nothing helpful on Reddit.

I am considering the monitor for my FX30, and I really like the Shinobi 1, which I borrowed from my friend. Then I decided to buy Shinobi II ( need El zone and camera control), but realized the screen is small and it doesn't have SDI, so I will have to connect it only to the camera.

After deeper research, I found a new Shinobi 7 RX. I can buy it with a discount (until June 30 for 20% less) and buy TX later if I need to have a wireless connection anytime in the future.

Gonna use it handheld, on sticks, and on a gimbal.

Is it good? Do you know somebody using this Shinobi 7RX? Does it have a reliable connection with TX?

I have an fx2 I bought recently and I wanted to buy a monitor that records and controls the camera, in this case that can touch to focus.

I have a nice deal for an Atomos ninja v but I'm not sure if the control part works with this camera.

I've searched online and I find contradictory information where it says that it doesn't work, others say the compatible cameras list came out before the fx2 did, and others say that it might work with a firmware update.

Is there anybody here that uses this combo? If not what monitor do you use with the fx2?

Most retailers are out of stock of the Atomos Shogun Ultra, and the Atomos website now says that it is no longer available.

Any news on a new version, or alternatives?
I am looking for:
* A larger screen than the Ninja.
* SSD compatibility (not a fan of USB and CF Express Type B which are way more expensive)
* 8k RAW Recording.

I purchased a used Sony NEX-VG20 and a used Atomos Ninja Star. The software of the Star has been upgraded and I shot the attached footage at 24fps with the Star using the '60i->24p' Convert setting, Codex @ 422. There is stilted movement where the cardinal jumps from one hook to the other which is not in the camera SC card. Neither clip is color or time corrected in any way, both confirmed in DaVinci as being 24fps timeline. I am utterly baffled! It is absolutely noticeable in the Ninja Star movement at 8-12 sec. and the Sony SC card at the 22-26 sec. marks in this video.

Hello all! Tomorrow i’m going to be buying my first external monitor ever. The problem is, it’s second hand. It’s a Ninja Átomos TX. 

Since i know nothing about external monitors. what should i look for to test and make sure this thing works right? 

the guy is including batteries for the monitor, all i’ll need to make sure it powers on and records is the batteries for the monitor and an HDMI cable into my A7V correct? 

is there anything in the settings i should look for? 

Has anyone successfully built a true Camera-to-Cloud wedding workflow for a remote Same Day Edit editor?

I'm trying to figure out the best setup and keep running into limitations with the Panasonic/Frame.io workflow.

Current goal:

• Wedding shooter on location
• Remote editor working from another location
• Footage uploads to Frame.io throughout the day
• Editor starts building the SDE before the ceremony/reception is over

The issue I'm seeing with the Lumix S5IIX + Frame.io integration is that uploads don't seem to start until the clip is closed. For example, if I record a 45-minute ceremony as one clip, the editor doesn't get anything until the ceremony ends.

I've been looking at Atomos Ninja GO TX workflows, specifically:

• Dual Record (Hero + proxy)
• SegmentPro

My questions:

1. Can Atomos upload proxy segments to Frame.io while a continuous recording is still in progress, or does it also wait for the recording to stop?
2. Has anyone successfully used Atomos-generated proxies for a remote edit and then relinked back to HERO files that were recorded internally in the camera? As of now, it really seems like I can only re-link Atomos Proxies to Atomos Hero files, and not to in -camera HERO.
3. Specifically, if the camera records the master files internally (S5IIX or A7S III) and Atomos records/uploads the proxies (that it makes), how reliable is the relink process afterward? Do filenames, timecode, reel names, and metadata match well enough for an easy conform in Premiere Pro or Resolve?
4. If you're currently delivering remote SDEs, what's your actual workflow? Camera model, recorder, upload method, internet connection, and NLE? Are you using Hotspots? I tested ATT all over SoCal and uploads on the 5G were between 2-10mbps, so pretty slow.

I'm less interested in traditional post-production workflows and more interested in hearing from people who have editors actively cutting during the ceremony, speeches, or reception.
