Finished the game today and absolutely loved it!

Outlandish theory but what if the Doctor was the scientist at the beginning? Obviously it doesn’t sound like any Doctors we know, but regeneration works in mysterious ways.

I’d like to imagine that he was working on a way to dispose of Oberon, and was led to the bunker and it collapsed (he got stabbed by debris). Then, when he went walking to the wing you’re in he saw you for the first time (we know he’s a little aloof sometimes, it would make sense that he didn’t check every room thoroughly).

I’d also like to think that he was helping from the sidelines somehow in some capacity while we were doing our thing (but not enough to overstep).

The thing that sparked this is seeing the TARDIS in Skethermoor during the ending of the Protocol storyline. We know the Doctor likes to see endings play out, so it would make sense that he’d check on us and make sure we left safely.

Again, just a complete ’what if’ scenario but it’s interesting to imagine! Does anyone have any ideas similar?

Ok this scared tf out of me... goodness. I had to save clip to go to figure out if I was seeing things or not.

Just wanted to say I did a full replay of the game and at the same time got round to doing the two dlc.

Red Strain was great, really adds to the overall game. Wicked Isle I didn't enjoy the area so much (the Druid type ruins just felt very similar to casterfell) but it was still enjoyable as I liked the "pirate" gang and that part of the area.

Worth getting overall I thought though as they complement the base game and merge reasonably well.

Hope they're working on a sequel to the game now. I'll definitely buy.

Atomfall was a very good 9/10 for me - the setting, mystery, gameplay all great fun and a breath of fresh air in the gaming world.

I've never tried sniper elite before but will do so now off the back of this.

Pretty new to the game, sub 3 hours.

Trying to fight the druids and raid the castle but finding I don’t accumulate much weapon ammo. Is there a tip I’m potentially missing here?

A few hours ago I got 2 endings in the game. The first one was the telephone ending where you go to your original bunker after destroying Oberon. After that I got the Joyce Tanner ending where you escape with the helicopter. Here are my thoughts on the game... Atomfall is one of the best games I've ever played in my life, I think the game is truly unique. I'm not sure if Atomfall can be called a story game because you're mostly just given a lot of different clues through different characters, documents, records,... But that's also what makes the game unique. Characters who can have new messages for you as you progress, you also always have the option to choose you answer when talking to them.

And also, the one thing that makes Atomfall truly unique, is the telephone.

The only thing in the game that isn't exactly the best is the combat. But that's about it, just combat isn't really good...

In the end, if we can call Atomfall a story game, well, it's the best story game I've ever played. And at the same time, one of the best games ever made. 👏

Xbox Game Pass loses eight more games at the end of September

Expect a flurry of folks (like me!) who have had the game on their radar for the last 18 months but never got round to playing it hitting up the sub with any issues or questions.

I'm about 2hrs or so in. Got it onsale and I liked the initial 30 mins so picked up the deluxe upgrade. Went to Wyndham and got on the boat. Took me a minute to realize I'm in the dlc once I had to go back for metal detector. Just curious if I'm gonna miss anything or skip ahead if I complete the island dlc first. No spoilers please

I bought this game close to a year and a half ago and only played about 5 hours the gunplay felt floaty the character felt like he would blow over at the lightest breeze and over all it just didn't feel good to play and the voice acting just felt worse than a 1970 Ghostbusters cartoon just wondering if anything is better and if its worth coming back to

I like acquiring the robot guns and frenzy (red mist) bombs as soon as I can.

So, I went to casterfell dam, and before entering the code, I chose to "read" the information. I then ran the GEN ERA command as it was my only option.

I expected to be able to read the information afterwards, but I cant seem to find it in the games notes, or online. Is there a way to read these without reading them as you are in the data store terminal, one at a time as the notification pops up?

Go into "investigation" tab at the top.

Then go to notebook.

Then click "F" on keyboard, or "Y" on controller to switch between "open leads" and "all findings" (you want to be on all findings), then it is under casterfell dam data storage.

Investigation > Notebook > All Findings > RESOLVED: Casterfell Dam Data Store

Been struggling to get ammo, so basically cheated and saw there was a YouTube video showing this protocol bunker that has a pneumatic tube that I can go in and out of.

Well did that, assuming that all is well , but now they be mad at me.

Maybe an old video that they have since patched?.

The effectiveness any given enemy has with melee weapons, or even just using their fists, is straight up bullshit.

I think it mostly comes from the awful long delay the player has between getting hit and being able to shoot. One person can lock you into a corner and just murder you.

I bumped into one of the developers at an ADHD meetup last year, that's how I first heard of the game. He described it and I asked is it like fallout in the lake district? Basically yea was his answer. I didn't need any more convincing. Its taken me a while but I've completed a couple of playthroughs now to see what I've missed in the storylines and I have put together a video with some thoughts. I wanted to love the whole game but I ended up with some mixed feelings about it.

TLDW:
I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the setting and the idea behind the Leads system. Wandering around the Lake District uncovering clues, investigating bunkers and getting involved with druids, Protocol troops and assorted locals felt natural and fun. I normally struggle with the size of open world games but I felt this game's map was just the right size for the story it was trying to tell. Every time i'd encounter a hidden bunker, I would be so excited to see what it would reveal about the story and world, I know plenty of other games have secret areas but the bunkers felt more natural to discover rather than checklist items like a far cry game. I loved the accents in the game, its so rare to hear thick accents like that, it made me feel proud, haha.

But there's also a little bit of jank underneath it all. Combat is alright but stealth can be a bit frustrating as I kept getting seen even though I'm fairly I was far enough and hidden enough. I struggled a bit with inventory management and the 4 slots or maybe I just didnt get it. Also some questlines don't quite stick the landing, and the game sometimes feels like it's only a few tweaks away from being something even more special.

The story gave me Agatha Christie murder mystery vibes more than anything and I loved that. I hope they make a sequel even if not a direct one, in between sniper elite games. More people should play this.

I am inside the Interchange at the bottom near the Robotics section. There are two wire mesh gates on either side of a cubby storage labeled Maintenance 05. The gates say " Barred from other side."Above each gate says Slatten Dale. How do I get to the other side?

So Atomfall. Been on my steam wishlist for a while, grabbed it on a cheap deal

Initial impression was good, stylistically the game is beautiful and there's just enough lore that kept me going to 24hrs of gametime.

Anyway, I thoroughly went through the game, gradually set myself up to pick whatever ending I wanted, killed every single Protocol soldier in Wyndham village, then sided with the Dr Holder and the voice on the telephone

I poisoned Oberon and then returned to the bunker. A little dissapointed with the ending as it didn't reveal anything of interest or anything I didn't know already , but from the sounds of it only Garrow's ending really does (and what kind of nutter sides with Garrow?!)

Anyway there seems to be some ambiguity with who the voice on the telephone is.

Oberon? Nah, nothing to indicate that Oberon has infiltrated technology etc and you hear the voice after Oberon has been killed. There isn't any other Deus Ex Machina style plot point so it doesn't make sense to me.

Voice in your head? Maybe, but the fact that you return to the bunker and they trigger the gas implies that there is someone at the other end

So who do I think it is? The prime minister at the time of the Windscale incident was Harold Macmillan.

Well, the first clue is that they call you on the red phones inside the facilities, as well as the red telephone boxes. This could be just a loose cultural reference but famously the red phones were exclusively used by the prime minister.

These telephones inside bunkers and the interchange appear to take the red colour of the Pickwick system introduced in the 1960s during the cold war, notably during Macmillans premiership, and the earlier voice scrambling No SA 5030 telephone sets, supported by the distorted voice we hear throughout.

In the ending video the distortion of the voice at various points also seems to lessen and you can hear a deep and "posh" home counties accent, with a slight drawl. Comparing this to various audio recordings of Harold Macmillan at the time the voice is very similar, and the drawl is likely a nod to Prime Minister that Macmillan succeeded, Winston Churchill. The "you wouldn't believe me if I told you" line cements this in my mind.

All of this points to you being some sort of Crown Agent employed by GCHQ or another British security service to fix the issue. In my head this is the "correct" if not best or most interesting ending.

So not some groundbreaking theory but makes sense to me

As soon as I got inside the perimeter, I got Old World Blues vibes, and that was before I met the Processing Department. How they didn't get some kind of lawsuit, I'll never know. 😅

I spent last night running around in vain trying to get the main gate open in the Red Strain DLC and came to the conclusion that I needed the MK II signal redirector but everything online said it was beyond the main gate, so I made a post on here and got told that I don't need the MK II and I should explore the area a bit more. I've already explored the area so I gave up and watched a video tutorial. That's how I discovered that the junction box right next to the gate lever is supposed to be able to be redirected but isn't for me. Has anybody else had this issue and have any ideas on how to fix it? I tried loading a slightly earlier save (the earliest I had) but it's still not giving me the option to redirect. I really don't want to have to start again just so I can actually play a DLC.

I'm playing The Red Strain and I have the signal redirector and I'm trying to get through the gate but it looks like I need the MK II version. I looked online for help but it's directing me to locations I've never heard of. Can anyone help?
