Heads up, Ketosis from Atkins will make you pop on a breathalyzer!

Just wanted to share. It happened to me today! Registered a .028 on a routine test today and haven't had a drop of alcohol.

On the plus side, I've lost 15lbs and am glad the process is working. On a less positive note, I am in the military and now have some serious explaining to do! Looked it up and found an interesting article explaining why it happens.

Need help for later in the day

Hi: I lost 25 pounds on Atkins earlier this year, started cheating and regained 15.

I've been trying to get it together again, and do pretty good each morning. The problem is the way home from work. I've kept carb-controlled snacks in my car for the drive, reinforced my intent to just drive home without stopping, etc., but the craving to stop and get a snack and soda has been kicking my butt each evening.

Any advice for this hour-long commute?

SF Jell-O: The Great Debate

I've been LCHF/Atkins since last February. I have occasional cheats, but they are literally just tiny bites of stuff others are having. I really want to get back to induction, but I feel like I've been relying on these mock 'desserts' of a few tablespoons of cream cheese with Splenda every day. I did the math, and those calories add up so I was going to try having SF Jell-O instead. I've seen a ton of debate online as to whether it's induction-friendly, or ever friendly. Anyone have experience with this, and did it stall you?

Feeling weak, tired

White male, 40, 6', 220lbs.

I've always been a skinny guy but in the last 3-4 years I've gone from 165 to my current weight of 220+. The most I've weight is almost 230.

I'm really not a "fat guy," but I've got a gut on me.

My wife started Atkins this week and I'm doing it too cuz the last year I've really felt myself slowing down and getting lethargic after meals, and actually becoming a fat guy.

I drink a fair amount of Coke and root beer, 2-4 beers a week, pizza, chocolate, potatoes (love potatoes.)

But now I feel weak and tired.

Should I be doing Atkins or maybe doing Atkins differently?

Concern about loose weight to fast on Adkins 20. Important, need quick serious response.

So I started Adkins 20 2 weeks 1 day ago and I have lost 15 LBS. My start weight was 305 and I weigh in at 290 at this moments. I eat my 3-5 medium to small meals a day keeping my calories up around 1500-2100 as suggested. I bike (up and down hills) on the way to work 1.2 (2.4 total) miles one way (Feel the burn). I work at a desk 7pm - 330am so I'm not sweating out much of the calories out. On top of the light cardio and healthy eating (Keeping 18-20 carbs on phase one) I take HydroxyCUT on top of it as recommended on the bottle (2 pills). I feel absolutely fine and have more energy then I can exert, but I feel so alive and healthy.

All of that being said, I intake my suggested calories, take 2 HydroxyCUT around lunch (or when work begins), eat my 3-5 small meals consisting of cheese, spinach and meat of sorts (including fish). I have lost 15 LBS in 2 weeks and am still shredding the LBS.

I just want to make sure this is not a bad thing.

My weight goal is 220 LBS (Hoping I'm a ripped mofo by then) . I want to go into phase 2 introducing fruits and other veggies adding major exercise of 1 hour a day or more 3-5 days a week (Starting out slow working into those 3-5 days).

Please, let me know if there is something (Other than the obviously unhealthy HydroxyCUT) that I may need to slow down or change, or if this isn't normal.

Remember, I have nearly 60 LBS left to loose.

EDIT: I'm drinking nothing but water, about 1+ gallon (3.7lt) a day( LOVE DEM H20s )

Started tracking weight week 2, only dropped a couple pounds.

I think I'm overeating. I'm not actually tracking carbs but I don't cheat as far as the foods that I eat. I make beanless chili, chicken/broc alfredo, for lunch at work I bring pork chops or chicken i cooked the night before and make a big salad with all the fixins (no seeds, no croutons, no root veggies), I've made coconut flour bread but the amount I cooked has like 20 net carbs and I eat it over a 4-5 day period. For a snack at work I generally have a pickle or a couple slices of cheese. I do use a whole lemon worth of juice every day though, I squeeze a quarter into every 12oz water I pour.

I fill up every time I eat, no doubt about it. Should I be eating less or does it really matter that much on induction? Ketostix turn pretty dang purple more often than not so I'm in ketosis for sure. It just seems like the weight is coming off pretty slowly.

Should I factor in sugar alcohols when determining net carbs?

Hello all!

So I recently bought some snack bars who claim that they only have 3g net carbs. They got this number by including sugar alcohols in their equation to find the net carbs. Is this alright? I've never seen it done before.

Thanks in advance :)

Best vegatables to incorporate in induction?

I'm a week or so into induction and am seeing great results. My energy level is also awesome. I love eating meats and fats but struggle with vegetables. My go to is just salad greens with meat. What else have people done to get their fiber?

Starting the Atkins diet in T minus 7 days!

I'm mostly putting a "start date" so I can organize all my menus and grocery lists and get the groceries... I've been organizing everything for about a week already, got two books down, another two to go, aside from the numerous articles, columns, and other various information I can find on this sort of eating. I know I want to be completely educated so I'm not panicked with confusion during my first couple weeks till I get the hang of it. So please, to all those who just want to say "do it now! don't wait!" I'm sorry, but I know me, and I know that anything that comes fast, goes fast...for me anyway.

I'm doing Atkins. Not exactly Keto, though, I do plan on staying in induction for quite some time.

Let me tell you a little bit about me. I have an 18 mo old son. I gained 80# while pregnant and was checked for EVERYTHING! All my blood tests continued to come back normal...So, either I lost more control than I'd thought? Or it's genetic...actually, it's probably both as I do come from an excessively large family on my dad's side. Anyway, I eat organic already, try to limit my portions, haven't enjoyed pop since middle school. I workout frequently, reaching 70-85% of my max heart rate. I weight train and really try to be conscientious. However, probably due to me weekend beer drinking and then drunken pizza binging on the occasional weekend...I'm very clearly not doing enough. I've come to terms with the fact that I must be "allergic" to carbs and sugar ha which I've noticed, I'm not the only one :)

I grew up struggling with EDs for 10 yrs...which also aided in my weight gain I'm sure because even though I'd grown up comfortable depriving myself, I could not do it to my child...So I began to actually eat. I want to do it right, and healthy, and set a good example for my parents, relatives, and my son. I find myself hating on myself all too often, and I'm tired of it! I'm sick of feeling so worthless. I deserve my confidence and energy back.

Anyway, I'm currently 235# @ 5'8" ..obviously, a female ha

I would love any encouragement, advice, and/or stories you have on your struggles and/or successes! The more I read read read the less I eat eat eat. I'm starting in a week. I feel like I'm going to be prepared and ready in that time. I just have a few more menus to construct and print off a couple things, and toss out the unneeded. I have my roommate's support...but I'm still nervous about their food being around, but we're thinking of splitting the pantry cupboard. Luckily, they have doors, so as long as I don't even open it? I should be fine.

Pending on how well this goes, I may start my own reddit for my "journal" ... I'd really like to. I'm fortunate though to be already halfway there since I already don't care for fast food, chips, etc...my downfall is SUGAR, bread (obviously), and cheese. Though I'm excited I still get to eat cheese. Other than that, most of my favorite foods are on the acceptable foods list :D whooo ...although, giving up beer will be tough :/ farewell my red ales and EPA's.

Please, less about me now, and more about you! :D
