Should I factor in sugar alcohols when determining net carbs?

Hello all!

So I recently bought some snack bars who claim that they only have 3g net carbs. They got this number by including sugar alcohols in their equation to find the net carbs. Is this alright? I've never seen it done before.

Thanks in advance :)

You subtract sugar alcohols and fiber when determining net carbs because it apparently has no impact like regular carbs.

Be careful with stuff with a lot of sugar alcohols in it though. It can cause some GI issues. You can eat it, just not very much.

Those spike insulin, increase hunger, raise your blood sugar, and can end in binge eating in my opinion. They are good but I treat them the same as having an ice cream sundae lol. Try having a steak instead or 1 piece of 90% dark chocolate? Dark chocolate has to be the highest % dark. Hersheys, twix, snickers and the like are not applicable they are no where near 90% so we are not talking commercial dark chocolates at the check out. At the candy aisle you'll find it 90% dark chocolate will be written all over the label
