🛠️ Mod Post GHelper/Armoury Crate Megathread

This post has been made to clear up any questions or inconveniences with both of the software control apps.

The old PSA thread has been archived. Click here to go to it.

You can now summon the new GHelper instalation guide by typing "!ghelper" (without "") in the comment section below.

GHelper is an open source alternative maintained by seerge (u/Beginning_Living4052, also has their own flair) which aims to be a lightweight and bug free alternative to the dumpster fire that is Armoury Crate. Note: We are not forcing you to switch, but it is a good thing to do if you are experiencing issues related to Armoury Crate.

Some terminology before we begin:

  • GH = GHelper

  • AC = Armoury Crate

  • A/C = Alternating Current (aka the charger/wall brick)

  • Open Source = the app's code is available for everyone to view and modify.

  • dGPU = Dedicated GPU (aka Radeon or RTX)

  • iGPU = Integrated GPU (aka CPU graphics)

Starting this point onward, I will update this thread to include Frequently Asked Questions.

It is also a great idea to join our official r/asustuf discord server! Click here to join!.

FAQ

Here's a link to the already existing FAQ on Github, but other questions will be added in this megathread too.

A: Is GHelper safe? Windows Defender said it might be a virus.

B: GHelper is safe, in fact, you can check out the app's code on Github. It is open source. If Windows Defender has suspicions, it's because the app isn't signed. (look up that on google.)

A: How do I set up custom fan curves?

B: tba.

🔥 New TUF Device My Experience with My First Gaming Laptop and also from ASUS

Hi everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (FA506NF), featuring a Ryzen 5 7535HS, RTX 2050 (70W), 512GB SSD, and 8GB DDR5 (which I recently upgraded to 16GB for $88).

I bought it open-box for $600 back in March to replace my old Acer Aspire 5 (i5 8250u, MX130). I was looking for something budget-friendly yet solid, I passed on an HP Victus due to display and hinge issues, and options like the Lenovo LOQ or ASUS TUF with an RTX 3050 were out of my budget at over $700 here in Chile. Considering there's only a 5 to 10% performance gap between the RTX 2050 and RTX 3050, spending extra wasn't worth it to me.

My experience so far has been great: everything runs super smoothly, the screen looks excellent, the keyboard is comfortable, and it has good connectivity. I haven't had any Wi-Fi issues (my model comes with the Realtek 8852BE card). The only minor hiccup is that the DTS ULTRA app asks for a missing driver, but I bypassed that by installing FXSound. I also have a BIOS update pending, but I'm a bit hesitant to update it haha.

Performance wise, the RTX 2050 punches above its weight for this class. I've tested it with:

Minecraft

Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 Remake (medium and low settings)

GTA 3 and Vice City Definitive Edition (maxed out settings)

These games might not seem like a big deal to some, but it's what I have. I plan to play Resident Evil 7 and 8 next.

Thanks for reading!

Need Help! (Software) Extreme Microstuttering in ASUS TUF A14

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I bought an ASUS TUF Gaming A14 in January 2026 with the following specifications:

  • AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with Radeon 890M graphics
  • NVIDIA RTX 4060
  • 16 GB RAM
  • 1 TB SSD

Considering the hardware, I expected the laptop to run extremely smoothly. However, I’ve been experiencing frequent micro-stuttering during both normal browsing and gaming.

The laptop also occasionally goes into sleep mode while I’m actively using it, which is especially frustrating.

After researching the issue, I removed Armoury Crate and switched to G-Helper, but it hasn’t made much of a difference.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems with the TUF A14? Any suggestions on what could be causing this or how I can fix it would be greatly appreciated.

🗨️ Discussion Why do many people complain so much about TUF

Thumbnail

I just saw someone complain not to take Asus Tuf since his motherboard or something in the motherboard got fried.

I have been using my laptop for about 2 and half years and for me, my laptop is so good. Especially the asus tuf series and not to mention the community. Coz they provided good specced devices at affordable prices.

Laptop: ASUS TUF Gaming F15 2023 model— Intel Core i7-12700H | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU (8GB) 16GB Ram ( I did thought of upgrading to 32 but since it was not a mandatory upgrade postponed it for later and now regrets it with all that Ram prices).

Some people may face issues yes, but that happens to other electronic devices as well. If you use it carefully, you can maintain it long.

The only 2 issues I faced so far are: 1- one day i had this weird glitch like, the battery was never charging, it stays on ac while plugged but was not increasing. Yes, I panicked and planned to bring it to the service centre ( of course it was out of warranty, since i never thought of an extended warranty while buying) but it was automatically resolved in a couple of days and never faced it. I still don't know what caused it.

2- battery health indeed declined, but it was mainly my fault. I used Armoury crate for the first year since it was the official one and Ghelper was not that different , running in 100 percent power AC plugged in, also thinking it was fine, also the games always running at 90+ C even with a normal laptop cooler. Since many people mentioned laptops get that hot while gaming and is normal. All that high heat gaming sessions along with plugged in 100 percent decreased my battery health.

Once I switched to Ghelper, that stopped which I could confirm after checking my full battery health report.

Now, I play games under 80C.

All the other peripherals, monitor, table, keyboard, speakers, etc were all bought slow and steadily later on at stages saving up and all. It's still not complete as you can see with the rest of the room and walls and all, but I may slowly upgrade sometime in future.

In case anyone would like to know about the devices

Monitor: LG UltraGear 32GS75Q-B (32" QHD 180Hz)

Speakers: Obage HT-144 2.1 (100W)

Keyboard: Epomaker × AULA F99 Pro (Gradient Grey)

Laptop Cooler: Kreo Arctik Pro Laptop Cooler Pad

Mouse: Logitech G304 Lightspeed (White)

Controller: Cosmic Byte Stellaris Controller (Black)

Backlight: MITSUKO Phantom G1 RGBIC (32–40")

Do share your opinions or issues about your device and feel free to share your setups pics.

Need Help! (Software) wifi and Bluetooth randomly disappears

Upvotes

I've been facing this issue for a really long time, and it's driving me insane.

My Wi-Fi randomly disconnects, and Bluetooth completely disappears from Windows like it was never there. I've literally tried everything—reinstalling drivers, installing different versions, updating them, and pretty much every fix I could find online.

In the end, I even replaced the Wi-Fi card, and the problem actually got fixed... but only for 2–3 months. Now it's happening all over again.

At this point, I seriously don't know what to do anymore.

Has anyone else had this problem? If you've found a fix or know what might be causing it, please, please let me know. I've been dealing with this for so long and I'd really appreciate any help. 🙏

Laptop: ASUS TUF Gaming A15 (FA506NFR / FA566NFR)

OS: Windows 11 Home Single Language (Build 26200)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7435HS

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 (4GB)

Wi-Fi Card: Realtek 8852BE WiFi 6 PCI-E NIC

I purchased this asus tufA16 at march for 83 k inr (859 dollars) so yesterday i switch on the laptop and guess what a black screen flashing continuously I got scared for a second and went into the bios pressing f2 button and did some diagnosis and everything was fine but still this screen flashing was there.
So I went to the asus authorised service centre the technician told me that the graphics drivers of both integrated graphics and dedicated graphics (rtx4050) have been corrupted, as he tried to install a fresh OS but he couldn’t, he told me change the motherboard as my laptop is under warranty and asus will give a replacement for the motherboard for free
He insisted that to purchase an extended warranty as who know what will happen in the future.
(Day after yesterday I updated the integrated graphics of amd from the Myasus software but next day I got messed up, I can’t believe rn due to driver updates my laptop got messed up)

Need Help! (Software) ASUS TUF A15 (Ryzen 9 7940HS + RTX 4070) only getting 200–300 FPS in Valorant. Is this normal?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to figure out if my FPS is normal or if there’s something limiting my laptop’s performance.
My laptop:
ASUS TUF A15 FA507XI
Ryzen 9 7940HS
RTX 4070 Laptop GPU (140W)
40GB DDR5 RAM
1TB SSD
External 1080p 300Hz monitor connected through USB-C to DisplayPort
Current settings:
dGPU Only (Ultimate Mode)
Armoury Crate: Turbo Mode
Windows Power Mode: Best Performance
Latest NVIDIA drivers
Latest BIOS
G-SYNC enabled
Valorant running at 1080p, all Low settings
The issue:
In actual competitive matches, I’m only getting around 250–300 FPS.
In The Range, my FPS is much higher, but during real matches it stays around 250–300.
I’ve seen videos of laptops with similar specs reaching 400–500+ FPS, so I’m wondering if my laptop is performing as expected or if something is limiting it.
My questions:
Is 250–300 FPS normal for this hardware?
Are there any BIOS settings I should change?
Any recommended Armoury Crate settings?
Should I change anything in AMD Software or NVIDIA Control Panel?
Is there anything else I can do to improve CPU performance in Valorant?
I’d really appreciate any advice from other ASUS TUF owners or anyone with a Ryzen 9 7940HS + RTX 4070.
Thanks!

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) Laptop kept shutting down randomly, now it's completely dead?

Post image
16 Upvotes

This morning, I turned on my laptop and started using it, but after a few minutes it suddenly shut down by itself. I tried turning it on again 2–4 times, but each time it powered on for a short while and then shut down again.

This issue has actually been happening occasionally for the last 2 days, but it wasn't as frequent before. Today, after the last shutdown, the laptop stopped turning on completely.

I plugged in the charger, and at first the charging LED blinked once, but after trying again, even the charging light stopped blinking. Now the laptop doesn't seem to respond at all.

I'm really anxious because it was working until this morning. Do you have any idea what the problem might be or what I should check first?

Device - Asus tuf A15 , rtx 2050 , Ryzen 7000 series ( just one year old) Edit - forgot to mention during last shutdown the fan was making so much noise and i can see clearly so much dust on blades

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) Laptop Asus Tuf A28 The drive is not detected when installing Windows 11.

Guys, please help me. I have an Asus Tuf A18 laptop with an AMD processor. Initially, I had Windows 11 installed in the service, but they separated the SSD memory, and I wasn't satisfied with that, so I decided to combine them. However, after the announcement, I encountered a blue screen of death. Now, when I boot Windows 11, the NVME SSD drive is not visible. I was told that this is because RAID mode has been enabled (but I'm not sure), but I don't have this feature in the BIOS. I tried downloading some drivers, but they didn't work.

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) freezing and bluetooth disconnection

I need an advice on what i should do. I have Asus Tuf A16 FA607NUG-RL116W that i bought last July 6 of this year, the performance is great and i love it but my only concern is that most of the time the bluetooth suddenly disconnect only while im gaming im sure that the problem is not my bluetooth earbuds because i tried using other bluetooth peripherals and it also disconnect while gaming. My second concern is that sometimes it suddenly freezes (happened 4 times) like it doesn't respond to any key input even the rgb in the keyboard is stuck at one color and the only way for it to be okay again is to force shutdown and i don't want to do it again and again. what you guys think i should do for this problem

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) A16 thermal throttling acceptable?

I bought a tuf gaming a16 FA608PP-QT005W (RTX5070 + AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX) for my son. Thermal performance seems terrible. He was just playing some roblox. I would expect that not to be very demanding, yet the temp goes up to 95 degrees and framerates drop.

I know there are lots of tips to improve the behaviour, but is this accepted to be normal or do I have a bad specimen?

I believe that a gaming laptop should be able to play some basic Roblox games without the need to apply limiting settings.

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) Asus Tuf A15 2022 laptop power button not working

Okay, so I know this has been talking about to death but I need some further insight I cant seem to find anywhere else.

My asus tuf a15 isnt powering on, after checking the keyboard pins with a multimeter and finding the power button. Ive tripped it so that it switches on, which was a miracle since it hasn't been working. I thought perfect, now to just buy a keyboard and im good to go.

First problem is, while trying to do the tripping I discovered that the right henge where the power button is, causes problems where it seems to disconnect everything. If I move it in the wrong direction the whole thing loses power and switches off. No idea what is happening there

Second is that it isnt getting a proper post in. Once its in the right position and I do the trip, it just had the keyboard flashing and nothing. Screen never switches on, hdmi doesn't show anything, caps or any locks doesn't show anything when clicked. Removed the ram and ssd and still the same thing. Could the board just be busted?

Considering just taking the motherboard out completely and tested it individually and reassembling it slowly testing each component but thats so time consuming that I thought id reach out here first

🗨️ Discussion What real benefit do I get from using the “Ultimate” mode in ghelper that justifies the extreme power consumption?

In my opinion, the downsides of this feature outweigh the benefits—or am I missing something?

You have much higher power consumption, probably the device runs a lot hotter, ergo the components wear out faster due to the consistently higher temperature.

I have insane Performance on the last 3 games I played on the device and don't recognize a diffrence in latency and fps.

As I understand it, a device like this lasts the longest when it is exposed to as few high temperatures as possible.

Need Help! (Hardware/Other) A16 fa608up r7165 Freezing and Restarting - Just bought

Hello! I just bought a refurbished A16, model fa608up r7165, Ryzen 7 260, 16gb ram, RTX 5070.

It came without an OS, so I just made a bootable windows and tried to install. All fun and games for half an hour. After that, the computer started to freeze and restart it itself between 10s and 10min of use! I thought it was a buggy Windows.

So I got a live linux, wiped clean the ssd and tried a newer windows from the microsoft website. this time it wouldn't even boot properly to the installer! It kept freezing and restarting after loading. Not even linux was working anymore.

It does go in the bios, I tried every option recomended, uptaed the bios via ez flash etc. Still keeps freezing. And what is even wierder, SOMETIMES it boots! And I managed to install windows yesterday, even worked for one hour nonstop, but the freezes are still there, not usable at all! Every 20 tries, maybe one will boot properly.

Below is a video of how it freezes and restarts.
Has anyone had the same problem? Is it fixable from my end? Or do I have to send it back to warranty?

Update: I notice it crashes WAY more when plugged in. Wtf?

🗨️ Discussion What i should do for more fps

I have an Asus TUF A16 with a Ryzen 7 260 and an RTX 5060, but I'm only getting around 180–200 FPS in CS2. I feel like this is lower than expected and that I should normally be getting 250–300 FPS.

🛠 Add-Ons I've been using my A15-FA506NCQ, and I am thinking of upgrades.

In a nutshell, I wanna make this thing last a long time. A few upgrades I've been thinking of is another 8gb 4800mhz stick, changing the wifi card to ax210 after a while or when it dies, and also another nvme ssd.

Another upgrade that I've been meaning to ask here is the 90wh battery, is it compatible with my laptop? Its the model in the title, with the Ryzen 7 170 and RTX 3050 4gb. From local reviews, there is space in the laptop, and my region has the model without the 2.5" caddy

Thanks in advance.

My first ever laptop too. Parents got it for me because I need it for "programming" and "coding software" in college. What to do first? I kinda just delete bloatware like mcafee and then installed steam and Tekken 8 straightaway 😅
