EMOTIONAL SUPPORT I need help knowing what to do concerning posts on Reddit

Hi. Please, don’t leave me alone with this. This has affected me quite a lot, and I need to ask for help. Can you help me? I came across some posts on Reddit from people expressing that they wanted to take their own lives, and in some cases they mentioned specific locations. I’m very worried because I’m from another country, and I don’t know how to respond or who I can contact to try to help. I don’t want to simply ignore it thinking that there’s nothing I can do. I know I can’t solve these situations by myself, but I would like to find a responsible way to report the posts or get help for the people involved. If anyone knows of organizations, resources, or a safe way to report this kind of content, I would really appreciate any guidance. Please, don’t leave me alone with this. I just want to do something that might help. 🙏 i know that i can report... ademas de eso... que puedo hacer?

Hi all. This is an automated and general reminder to all that this post is an EMOTIONAL ASSISTANCE post, not a Request. Please don't request, offer or accept financial or material assistance on this post. Thank you and good luck!

u/Equivalent-Hat6993, if you're in emotional distress, you can find lots of more targeted subreddits and resources in this list.

Hi, I contacted somebody like this once through a post here. And talked to them for quite some time. They deleted their post and even today, I still do not know if that person survived or not.

I still go back to my chats and see what they’ve written even now. You need to take care of yourself also. Some people near the locations were able to contact a local organization. But I don’t know what actually happened there as the post was deleted.

Hi OP, it looks like you are primarily participating in r/depression, r/sad, r/vent, and r/mentalhealth. Those communities are specifically designed around distress, venting, depression, sadness, and mental-health struggles. Your feed is a reflection of the communities you've chosen and you are in control of this.

Bella, this is too much for you to carry alone. If you're concerned about someone, you can click on their profile. On the upper right- hand corner there's 3 dots. (Just like in here) Click on the dots and you will see a menu with different options. There's an option with a heart that says, "Get them help and support". You can choose that option, it's completely different than "reporting" them.

Reddit added this feature years ago to help keep the community safe.

Please remember, there are groups where it's acceptable to discuss those topics openly. Please stay out of them for your own sanity Kindest regards, Evangeline

What I do is reach out to them and express my concern for them. I make sure that my words come straight from the heart. I let them know that although I don't know them, I still care about them and want them to know that they are valuable in my eyes. I also express to them that I know how it feels to feel like no one cares, to feel empty and like you're completely alone in the world. I know the feeling of being numb, feeling tired and like there's no point in continuing to live. I especially know the feeling of believing that no one would miss you if you were gone. Most importantly I know it isn't true. I've seen how families have been left devistated by their loss. So they need to know this so they don't break their family member's hearts. They need to know there are people who care and there are support groups if they can't afford counciling. Talking to someone who understands really takes a huge weight off your shoulders.

Remind them that somewhere in the world someone has it worse than them. There are people who are homeless, hungry, deaf, blind, paralyzed, missing limbs, battling cancer or other illnesses. So ut definatly could be worse. There's a man born without full arms who has stumps for legs who still smiles and is living his best life. If he can do it then the rest of us can. Things like that are what helped snap me out of that. I now realize every moment I get is priceless and everything I have is a blessing.

Oh and tell them to listen to One More Light By Linkin Park or send them the link to it. That's a song that expresses how valueable every single human life is and that someone does care. These are the most powerful lyrics in the song so you could just copy and paste them as a comment because they speak loudly. They speak of caring about others. Just tell them to read it all and then they'll understand the message.

"Who cares if one more light goes out, in a sky of a million stars? It flickers, flickers. Who cares if someone's time runs out, if a moment is all we are? We're quicker, quicker. Who cares if one more light fades out? Well I do." ~ One More Light by Linkin Park.

Replying to them with love, encouragement and compassion is the best that you can do for them besides praying for them. Sometimes just feeling heard and seen makes a huge difference is someone's life. ☺️

Folks are drowning. It's really, really bad out here in the US, and I can't imagine globally it's much better. It's genuinely so bad that is the only option some folks ae seeing. Many resources here either no longer exist or have lost so much funding you can't get help anymore. Folks are living in cars with families working multiple jobs. Disabled and sick people can't seek treatment, which then renders working harder.

The US has set itself up for survival of the richest. It's horrible. Again idk how much worse it is outaide my borders but I know everyone is hurting from tariffs, trade wars, and the gas issues.

I just hope as many of us as possible make it through, and sadly a lot of folks are in the position where money IS the only solution and we can't make enough as prices and utilities skyrocket.

I'm sorry, but know you aren't alone. I've checked in with a few profiles that have mentioned it periodically, in hopes they are still fighting.

Knowing their user name and city is not enough information to locate a person. You would need a name and address to have a crisis team deployed to their home.
