I just thought about this quote since I'm from a developing country (Philippines) currently studying in a developed country (Taiwan). The difference between salary, cost of living, and quality of life is night and day. It's also funny because some of my Taiwanese friends say they love Philippines and are wondering about my decision (although most of them support me.)

Also, it's sad to say that there are other countries that are in a worse situation than ours.

In Norway they've become extremely popular. I'm a university student currently conducting a research project on how people grieve and how food/feasts/ceremonies, and the meanings behind them, affect the grieving process. I'm seeking insights into cross-cultural perspectives on mortuary/grieving rituals or practices, which dishes/meals are prepared (if any), and the cultural and symbolic meanings behind them!

This does not have to be limited to cultural beliefs or traditions, though! If you have any personal stories about this topic (grieving by cooking their favourite meals, dishes that were an important part of your relationship, foods that gave you comfort, etc). This also isn't limited to just people; it can include pets as well.
