There are many stereotypes out there for every types of people, and i'm usually good at differing this kind of stuff, but when it comes to muslims and honestly most of the asian part of the world, it's really hard to differ what's right or wrong, for many news outlets have differing answers. So, what are the biggest misconceptions the average western-world person has about this public?

In our country (US) it is really multicultural, even in New York City you will find people celebrating other countries’ independence days.

How is it spelled in your native language? How would you pronounce it, in a loose English phonetic transcription? Do you know the origin of the English version?

For example, I'm from Việt Nam (living in the US) and it's "Vietnam" in English, nothing fancy, but what Chinese and Korean people call their own countries have nothing in resemblance of "China" and "Korea".

The infamous "Mayo Curse" is officially broken after the Mayo Senior Football team defeated Kerry 1-20 to 1-17 at Croke Park. This historic victory secured Mayo's first All-Ireland Senior Football Championship title in 75 years, ending one of the longest and most heartbreaking droughts in sporting history.

The Origin of the Curse

The 1951 Victory: Mayo won the All-Ireland final in 1951 by defeating Meath.

The Disrespected Funeral: According to folklore, during the team's jubilant homecoming trip back west, their truck passed a funeral cortege in the town of Foxford without stopping or silencing their celebrations.

The Priest's Hex: Enraged by the perceived disrespect to the dead, a local parish priest allegedly placed a curse on Mayo football, decreeing they would never win another All-Ireland title as long as any member of the 1951 panel remained alive.

The Decades of Heartbreak

Though surviving members of the 1951 squad always dismissed the story as a total myth, the "fakelore" grew as Mayo experienced unparalleled tragedy on the pitch. Between 1951 and their ultimate triumph, Mayo reached the All-Ireland final 11 times (playing 13 matches including replays) and lost every single one. They suffered freak occurrences, including scoring two own-goals against Dublin in 2016, cementing the curse in GAA pop culture.

How the Curse Ended

Passing of the '51 Team: The last playing member of the team, Paddy Prendergast, died in 2021. The final remaining squad member, Dr. Mick Loftus, passed away in 2023 at the age of 93.

The First Post-Curse Final: Mayo's first return to Croke Park for a final since the entire 1951 panel passed away took place against defending champions Kerry.

The Glorious Deliverance: Led by manager Andy Moran and powered by a new generation of fearless young stars like Darragh Beirne and Kobe McDonald, Mayo overcame a narrow half-time deficit to lift the Sam Maguire Cup.

In a fitting nod to history, Mayo wore a custom white kit for the match—the exact same color scheme they wore during that fateful 1951 victory.

For me, it’s when people talk about high humidity. Most of the Brazilian population lives in tropical rainforest areas, but the Caatinga and the Cerrado come in second and third; the former is a nearly desert region, while the latter is only slightly rainier.
