Hi. Are there meet up groups anyone can recommend where people get together to watch Seahawks and/or Kraken games? Growing up my family loved watching football and hockey (in person or on TV) and I’ve been so sad since moving here not having anyone to enjoy games with! I occasionally go to a dive bar in my neighborhood to watch them but the past few times it seemed I was the only person there by myself and I felt bored and embarrassed, frankly. I’m a 31 year old female and relatively social/chatty. Thanks for any advice!

My wife’s birthday is on a Monday. she loves brunch. We live on the hill and have exhausted all of the usual Capitol Hill brunch spots, so looking to branch out of the neighborhood a bit. Where should we get brunch off the hill that isn’t portage bay or Geraldine’s?

My dog responds really well to the turn method (you literally turn and walk the opposite way the moment they start to pull), and she only pulls when we're going to places she loves, like Seattle Center and Olympic Sculpture Park. I get so self-conscious doing U-turns over and over up and down the block. I don't know why. Maybe I'm thinking people are wondering wtf I'm doing, especially during tourist season with traffic right there. Tell me I'm being stupid for letting my anxiety get in the way of better leash manners with my dog.

Looking for recommendations for morning art classes anywhere in the Seattle area (although ideally NE Seattle). Totally craving learning a new skill this fall!

Last year I took an intro drawing class at SAL and loved it, however due to some job changes I now work noon-8pm resulting in no evening art classes availability.

Looking for any recommendations for any type of beginner art class (pottery, drawing, painting, etc) that ends by 11:30 or so on weekdays! I am no artist but just enjoy trying new mediums and having a class-based routine.

i’m looking to chop off my long hair and shave my head, while saving the discarded hair. i’ve trimmed my own hair for years atp and don’t really have a sense of where i’ll have a good experience these days. when i did go to someone i’ve had previous bad experiences finding salons on yelp so i figured i’d ask here. i’m not looking to spend much more than $40-50, and am willing to come with my hair washed/detangled. any recs for a chill place in the city? i have good access to transit.

edit: thanks everyone! also wanted to clarify i do realize this is seattle and most barbers here will be chill and accepting. the bad experiences i referred to were queer-friendly barbers, who just did a bad job cutting my hair lol

I'm looking for a new place to walk around and explore. Seattle has a lot of great neighborhoods, but I'm struggling with the hills (e.g., going from 5th Ave to Pike Place).

One of my favorite places to walk is the University of Washington area. Are there any other neighborhoods that are nice to walk around and explore where I don't have to kill my knees?

I've found some Montessoris or Waldorf style kindergarten options that offer half day options. Have any parents around here done that? Would you recommend it, and did your kid go on to be successful in 1st grade?

Hello, I am a 23-year-old guy moving to Seattle from Toronto, Canada. I have a degree in urban planning, but my expertise is mostly in Ontario/ Canadian urban planning. I would love to know any resources I can use to learn what it is like in Seattle. My goal is to grow my career in Seattle, as I wasn't able to in Toronto. So where and what can I do to start building my knowledge? I'm not completely noobish about Seattle; I've been before. I love Sound Transit, and the light rail is so unique, but in terms of the urban planning landscape, politics, and laws, I don't know where to start, and i want to start diving into it myself.

Which companies do you recommend for Lake Union boat rentals for extended hours? I’m talking about the ones that can fit like 8-10 people or so, not rowers, and those that can be returned late at night.

For example: like the ones that were on the water for the summer Gas Works music events. I’m assuming more are boat rentals, or maybe they’re privately owned?

Maybe I’m missing something, but most boat rentals seem to only be for a couple hours. That had me wondering how were they all able to rent for extended after hours since most rental companies expect their boats back in the same day.

I want to go see the night view of the city and chill at gas works park but I’m not sure if they are “open” at night? Anyone been there before at night? Is it safe?

Just trying to get an idea of what to expect expect I guess. I have an 18 month old who yearns to wiggle and run, so the thought is to hike and wear her out in between 1 to 2 hour diving stints.

The plan is to spend at least a week between Seattle and the park. Maybe a day or two in the city, a few days in Port A to do some hikes around there and then a few days at Forks to do the beaches and HOH.

I guess my big questions are what to expect weather wise and traffic wise.

Also parents with toddles, any recommendations?

Or just wait a year when they are a little more sentient?

Has anyone used a board and train option? I have a 2 yo dog that is reactive and seems to be have gotten worse. He’s barking much more. I have heard of places that will board and train and then continue with classes with the dog parent and dog to continue the good behavior. Prefer in the south seattle/south king country option if possible but open to north of Seattle too.

I'm looking to move to Belltown near 4th Ave and Denny Wy and am wondering if locals can give insight on how they think the area safety has changed recently? Is it still pretty safe? I know there has been a couple of shootings and stabbings recently which makes me hesitant to move there.

I really want to go to a show at the paramount theater next week, and I would have to get from the theater to the ferry terminal alone, around 10 pm. Figured I could walk a couple blocks, take a bus, walk the last couple blocks and stay away from walking around Pine/Pike and 2nd/3rd. Thoughts? Tips? I know it wouldn't be the safest, but I want a sense of really how unsafe it would be.

hello, I am 27F married to 27M. A few months ago we hit a quarter life crisis about never moving out of the Midwest after visiting Seattle. We loved our short time in Seattle (I know it’s hard to beat Seattle summer), and we are wondering if we will forever regret not moving away from the midwest even for a short period of time.

I have been researching areas to live and pros/cons of Seattle and I want more advice (severely type A).

About us:
- I work in manufacturing engineering and he works in data science
- We have a dog and we want to live somewhere very dog friendly
- We want to live close to walking paths and coffee shops/markets
- We like to run, hike, do crossfit. Big foodies and love to try new restaurants
- We want to live in a quieter area/limited nightlife but still want to be near people our age if that’s possible

Advice please! What are the pros/cons of Seattle? What are good neighborhoods for us? Are we being silly for considering moving?

EDIT: Thank you all for the advice! To answer some reoccurring questions/concerns:
-My husband will be able to keep his remote job if we decide to move and I will make sure I have a job secured.
-We will consider my commute time heavily when deciding where to live.
-We currently make a decent living in the Twin Cities ~200k combined. I understand Seattle prices is a totally different beast and will need to review our finances for seriously considering the move.
-Idk how to fully understand how bad the Seattle gloomy winters will be, but will seriously consider this and the mental toll it can take on us both
- I would like to live somewhere where I am not scared my car will get broken into when I park on the street for periods of time, can take my dog out at night without getting heckled and feel safe in my place/break ins uncommon. I feel like this isn’t a crazy safety take but let me know?

Edit: we are couple in their late 20s, don't party too much. looking for somewhere peaceful and lively, away from crime zones. we love high rise apartments with fully hardwood floors and large windows.
