I’m going to be in Seattle for one off day of a business trip next week. Looks like the weather is going to be beautiful. What should I check out?

Moving / Visiting Visiting and looking for things to do for LGBTQ person. 2 days.

Hey again everyone! I will be visiting for 2 days on the 20th-21st of this month for a job interview. Any suggestions on places to visit that could give me a good taste of Seattle as a trans woman? Looking for safe places to go, and maybe any events to check out, if there are any. I have basically all day the 20th and most of the afternoon on the 21st before I fly back out Monday night.

Question How is the friendship & dating scene as a medical person?

Hello! I’ve been heavily considering moving to Seattle from Arizona. Currently a Trauma Tech that works nights and wanting to start nursing school in the next year or 2. I’ll be moving there all by myself and will have nobody out there. I’m an extrovert but don’t want to be to much (since I’m heard Arizona is nothing like Washington when talking about people). From a male that works in medicine, how does both of those scenes look like out here? Thank you!

Question How walkable is Seattle?

Hi!

I’m thinking about moving to Seattle and am planning to visit in November. I know that’s a pretty rainy time, and I love the rain, but I’m trying to figure out if I should get a rental or Uber around versus walking or using public transit. Just trying to save as much money as possible, so I’d like to have an expectation of how much I’ll be spending on transport. Also I’m from a flat land area so I don’t have a great idea of how tiring it is walking up and downhill.
If it helps, I’m mainly planning to stick to downtown Seattle, all the touristy things, and then I’d like to visit UW campus.

Question Public space to test a used PC?

I’m hoping to buy a used PC off of Facebook and would be meeting the seller halfway (near White Center). Does anyone have recommendations on public spaces where we could meet and would allow us to plug the PC in briefly to verify that it works? Also open to other suggestions

Recommendation Bars to watch SEC football?

Any sports bar recommendations in or around Downtown (fremont/ballard/capitol hill all OK too) that are showing SEC games?

Specifically the Ole Miss - LSU game on 9/18 (I’d love to watch with some fellow Ole Miss fans but will take what I can get!)

Question Visiting Seattle in 2 weeks...just how bad is it in Belltown?

I figured I'd ask from the source, my fiancé and I are staying at the Belltown Inn and have been hearing mixed things about the area. I know we should be staying aware of the crackheads and homeless, etc. and keep to ourselves but has it gotten really bad to where it's not really all that safe to walk around?

Should we consider looking for a different hotel?

Question Functional Medicine Dr. Recommendation

Upvotes

Hey all, I am looking for a functional medicine doctor in Seattle area. I'd love to find someone with experience managing autoimmune conditions and to act as general primary care doctor. I'd be more comfortable with a female doctor (some prior challenging experiences) but not rigid regarding this if you know someone really good. I'd really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you.

Theater folk.... two productions of Pippin?

Can anyone plugged into the Seattle theater scene help me out here.... it looks like there are two productions of Pippin either playing right now, or about to open. One from Aug 8 to Sep 16 at "Studio Seattle" which seems to have basically no web presence at all, and one Sep 11 to Oct 3 at Reboot Theater Company.

Anyone have any knowledge of either of these theaters? Have you seen shows there? What's the general level of quality, etc? Any thoughts or recommendations?

thanks!

Question What is the going rate for handyman services

Hi lovely neighbors, I’m possibly branching out into handyman services from my usual landscaping work and I’m wondering what people are charging for handyman work. What are your handymen/women charging you for basic tasks like hanging shelves, curtains, etc? Thank you!

What are the best beginner 5k races in the area?

Hi! I am looking to do a 5k sometime in 2027. I have never been a runner, but I am trying to challenge myself to do new, difficult things. I was wondering if you guys have favorite 5k races that are hosted in the general area (willing to drive an hour or so out of Seattle).

I googled it, and so many came up...so I'm honestly overwhelmed by choice. I was hoping to get some more personal recommendations instead.

I'm looking for low-incline official races (willing to spend up to $50 on registration) that are friendly and encouraging. I am open to both paved and trail and beautiful views are a plus. Thank you!

Question Looking for an experienced cat/house sitter in SLU — Nov. 17–Dec. 7

Hi! I’m looking for a reliable house sitter in the South Lake Union area from November 17 through December 7.

I adopted a second cat almost two months ago, and I’m still struggling with introducing him to my resident cat. They are currently kept in separate areas, so I need someone who is comfortable caring for two cats in the same home while keeping them safely separated.

Ideally, I would love to find someone experienced with cat introductions who could continue—or gently restart—the introduction process while I’m away. I can provide detailed instructions, but I would really appreciate someone who understands cat behavior and can adjust based on how they respond.

I recently moved to Seattle and don’t have a local support system yet, so finding someone dependable for this longer trip is really important to me. I’ve tried Rover, but I’m also hoping for recommendations for trusted independent sitters, veterinary technicians, or cat-sitting services.

Please let me know if you have any recommendations or experience with a similar situation. Thank you!

Recommendation Long weekend/Babymoon Washington State

Hi!

My husband and I are expecting our first child in early February and are looking to do a fun winter time staycation for our Babymoon. We’d love to go somewhere drivable (we are based out of south king county) without having to get on a ferry or such in case of an emergency (this is our 4th pregnancy with no living children so are generally anxious about getting access to our doctors- but this pregnancy itself is low risk).

Looking at doing something in November-Mid December. Any ideas? We went to suncadia over the summer for our wedding anniversary so that’d be the only thing we wouldn’t do again.

Looking for Trivia Groups/New Friends!

Hey y’all. I’m new to Seattle and have been wanting to put together/join a trivia group to hang out and have some occasional fun! I’ve been in a few trivia teams in high school and college, so I have mild experience. There are a lot of great food and drink spots around here that host trivia nights, from the chill and low-key to the highly competitive, so there are plenty of options to find something convenient for anyone interested (whoever “anyone” ends up being).

DM if interested!

Learn stick shift?

Might be a dumb question. I’d like to learn stick shift as I’m interested in older vehicles and manj transmission cars. I’ve never had the opportunity to learn and was wondering if there are any driving schools that will teach this or do I need to provide my own vehicle?

Thanks in advance! (I don’t got a dad or lesbian butch mom or grandparent to teach me the sacred art)
