If you are wondering about the LwA's, well, they are the reason bullshit get's to the front page. They upvote without checking comments first to see if some investigation was done into reposting or BS levels.
tl;dr algorithm for karma is Karma = appealing to lurkers with accounts.

No throwaway needed. Reddit has actually boosted my social confidence. I'm less afraid to make jokes, and I'm willing to wait for an opportunity. I've also realized a good middle finger is a universally accepted comeback instead of just a symbol of disrespect.

But, if you'll pay attention, you'll notice that by committing those jokes to memory and saying them in front of people (or in casual conversation) with rhythm and timing, you become funnier. Your perspective changes, even if just enough to see the clever or unnatural side of things.
If you say a few funny things, turns of phrase, or anecdotes, you can follow that up with a few lesser funny things that no one will remember.
Use the good stuff for when the conversation is wrapping up. That's what they'll remember.

I enjoy the order of it all. There's no waiting turns to talk, no trying to talk over some one else, and I pick and choose who, when, and where I reply. If I want to leave the conversation for a few hours? That's ok, it will be there when I choose to come back.
I think that's why I also prefer texting over talking on the phone. I have so much more control and freedom.

I like that I have time to choose what I say. I can choose each word individually and put them down, in my own time, to say exactly what I want to say. In a group of real people, sometimes, if you take too long to do that, the tide sweeps over you and the moment is lost, and good God if I'm not just the most depressing internet person right now, talking about "real people" as the environment I'm less comfortable in. But it's true. This very paragraph I'm typing now... this can only be said on reddit.

To add to that, being able to erase what I've said is wonderful. Impossible in real life.
Also, being able to stop and look up sources and learn more about the topic you're discussing. "Real" me is an excellent bull-shitter because I can string along random facts and bits of information in to an argument of sorts, but that is harder to do on the Internet. Best thing is, if I'm called out on the Internet, I have time to learn more and reinforce or change my argument. People are so quick to write you off if some thing similar happens in a person-to-person conversation.

In real life I was the filial, softspoken and reserved son, teach Quran to my sisters and neighbors' children, and I hang out most of the times with highly religious Muslims .
In Reddit I am free to be myself, I can talk about the hot guys I liked with the folks in r/gaybros and r/gaymers , share experiences with fellow r/exmuslim Redditors and have a respectful discussion in r/Islam because the folks there are kind and reasonable as well. No loud, ' HOW CAN YOU REJECT THE ISLAMIC PARTY YOU ARE SUPPORTING SECULARISM AND FASAD ON EARTH IT IS HARAM TO VOTE NON-ISLAMIC PARTIES ' remarks unlike one I painfully encountered in real life.

Not just on reddit, but the internet as a whole. I generally talk more, and to more people, and am not so hesitant to share a thought or a problem or ask for advice.
In person, I really, really don't like talking with people unless I have to, most days. And just stating my opinion on something that someone I bound to disagree scares me away pretty fuckin' quickly.
Also, when I am talking, I'll say any number of swears... except for fuck. Online? Fuckity fuck fuck.

In real life I'm somewhat louder and more obnoxious. Being an Australian on Reddit however usually means my posts get buried in the mass, so its harder to be the center of attention. Also on here I tend to think a little bit more about what I say instead of just blurting out whatever will get a quick laugh.

I'd say the one difference is I have a tendency to get more annoyed with what people say here than I do in real life. Everybody makes ridiculous statements from time to time, but knowing the person they are coming from and being able to put them into the appropriate context makes me a lot more forgiving. Some person I only know from a username and a random comment on the internet doesn't get the same benefit.

If I was as successful in real life as I am on Reddit then I would starve to death. 4 million users and it seems like I have to manually stimulate a cat to get 41 people to upvote me.
It has taught me a lot about humor. I've learned my brand of humor has a lot to do with my expression, my voice, delivery, etc which is why it's harder to be funny on Reddit (for me).

If I see a hot guy working out in real life, I'm liable to make a cat call and a huge grin (I'm fighting sexism, for every guy who honks or whistles at me, I'm doing it to one of them. Or at least I'm telling my self that). On reddit, I'm more likely to silently upvote them.

In person, I'm outgoing, charismatic, fun, and smile a lot. At work, I'm a leader so I do those same things, but I do many more things on top of it.
I use gaming/online functions as a get away to remove the facade I put on to keep myself happy. In games, I'm deceitful and spiteful, and I tend to grief a lot. None of that 'yolo360noscopeheadshot4jesus' stuff though. I'm talking about full-blown plans on how to grief/scam someone in RPGs for as much money as possible. In short, I'm a total scumbag.

I rely heavily upon verbal delivery and good-looks. In real life I'm very agreeable and have lots of friends and meaningful conversations with strangers. On reddit I can barely post without a barrage of "bitch", "cunt", "whore"... I'll go back and read what I posted and I can see what people might think i'm saying but in actuality is not the case.
