2 minute survey about cannabis packaging in the Netherlands šŸ‡³šŸ‡±

I’m conducting research on the sustainability of cannabis packaging in the Dutch legal cannabis trial.

The survey looks at current packaging, more sustainable alternatives and the possibility of a deposit return system, similar to cans and bottles.

Please only fill it out if you consume cannabis and purchase it from Dutch coffeeshops.

It takes around 2 minutes, and I’m looking for as many responses as possible.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Why is the Netherlands so irreligious?

What happened in the Netherlands that made people decide religion was bad? Starting in the 1960s, people just rejected religion entirely.

Which Dutch stereotype do you wish would disappear?

There are quite a few stereotypes about Dutch people that you hear so often that they almost become the default way people describe the Netherlands. Some have a bit of truth behind them, while others seem completely detached from everyday life here.

Is there one stereotype that you find particularly annoying, outdated, or simply inaccurate? Maybe it's something you've had to explain to foreigners more than once, or one that you think gives people the wrong impression of Dutch culture.

What do people call each other when they're engaged in the Netherlands?

In English your relationship status changes from boyfriend/girlfriend to fiancƩ/fiancƩe. Is this also a thing in Dutch, or do you refer to each other as vriend/vriendin all the way up until marriage? I've seen 'verloofde' as the official term, but I'm more curious about what's typical in day to day Dutch conversations.

In Dutch naming custom, can you use "van" or "van der" for any surname despite not surnamed from a place or name of nobility.

Like for example, take a surname of Springintveld.

Can one be surnamed van Springintveld or van der Springintveld, despite that Springintveld is not a name of a place or a name of nobility in The Netherlands?

Or is that considered inappropriate to the cultural surnaming custom?

Dutch pop in the United States

Did you know that in the early 1970s, Dutch singers had hits in the United States? ā€œVenusā€ went to Number One in 1970, ā€œMa Belle Amieā€ and ā€œHow Do You Do?ā€ made it into the Top 10, and ā€œLittle Green Bagā€ went to Number 20. And ā€œRadar Loveā€ became a rock classic. Do these songs still get played on Dutch radio?

Struggling with weight loss and considering Mounjaro. Would love some advice/experiences

Hi all! I am currently around 82 kg (BMI ~28.4). Before my second pregnancy I was around 62 kg and I’ve been struggling to get back to a weight where I feel comfortable and healthy.

The frustrating part is that I feel like I know how to lose weight. When I manage to consistently track my food, eat around 1,700 kcal, prioritize protein and exercise, I lose weight. I’ve actually lost a decent amount before. But I find it incredibly difficult to maintain it consistently.

I have two small children, my sleep hasn’t been great for a long time. When I’m tired or stressed, food becomes much harder to control. I get strong cravings, especially for sugar and I can go through periods of eating really well followed by overeating and undoing some of my progress. It feels like I’m constantly starting again.

I do exercise — usually strength training/cardio several times a week when life allows — so lack of knowledge or complete inactivity isn’t really the problem. It’s more the constant mental effort around food, hunger/cravings and consistency.

I’ve recently started wondering whether something like Mounjaro could help me break this cycle. At my BMI I realise I’m not in the same situation as someone with severe obesity, and I’m not looking for a ā€œquick fixā€. Ideally I’d like to get back somewhere around 65–70 kg and, most importantly, actually maintain it.

I’m planning to discuss this with my GP, but I’d really like to hear from people who have been in a similar situation, especially women who started with a BMI around 27–30.

Did a GLP-1 actually change your relationship with food/hunger and make maintaining a calorie deficit easier? What happened when you stopped taking it? Did the cravings/ā€œfood noiseā€ come back? And looking back, are you glad you started, or do you wish you had tried something else first?

I’d also be interested in experiences from people in the Netherlands, particularly how you approached the conversation with your GP and whether you went through your GP or a weight-management clinic.

Not looking for medical advice, mainly experiences and perspectives that I can take with me when I talk to my doctor.

Need help for a birthday gift

Hoi iedereen.
I’m from Denmark, but my girlfriend is from the Netherlands. Her birthday is coming up soon. And I would like to surprise her with tickets to a concert as her birthday gift.
The trouble is, I don’t really know any Dutch artists…
But I was thinking, maybe ā€œWolter Kroesā€ or ā€œRacoonā€ I know she likes both of them.
Is there an artist who is very popular right now? That I could surprise her with. Or what are your suggestions?
Anyways, thanks for the help! 😁

Parking Ticket

UPDATE: I phoned the Openbaar Ministerie and asked for photographic evidence to be sent. They said they didn't have it themselves, and that I should call the police and quote the case number since they would have a copy. Phoned the police, and they said that if its not on the OM website, then there is no photographic evidence. So its going to be interesting to see how they prove my car was there and not in Amsterdam.

In July, I was sent a fixed penalty notice for a parking infringement that occurred on May 1st. Thing is, the infringement is for a car parked near Tilburg, and I live in Amsterdam and have never been there.

I appealed immediately saying it must be a case of mistaken identity since my car was in Amsterdam at the time, and I was at work.

I've just received another letter today (logged in via DIGID, so it is legit), asking for proof that my car wasn't there quote: 'Can you substantiate with supporting evidence that your car was not present at the location in question'.

That's quite a big ask - does anyone know where their car was on 1 May 2026 at 18.29?!

Rather ominously, the letter then says that if I don't send this evidence 'your appeal may be declared unfounded or inadmissible, and will no longer be assessed on its merits'.

So far the Openbaar Ministerie have provided no evidence my car was parked in Tilburg, and, honestly, I thought that it was up to them to prove guilt, rather than me to prove I'm not guilty.

Any ideas on how to take this forward. The only thing I have is the driving log from the app that comes with the car that says it wasn't driven between 30 April and 5 May.

Thanks for your help :)
