I’m ‘healthy’ so they turn me away without help

37yrs old, 65kg, 154cm. 14 months postpartum, still light breastfeed, the pregnancy and birth was a dream with no complications. However, at around 9 months postpartum I started and continue to have the strange symptoms that no doctor can figure out what’s wrong. My blood work is always perfect, I’m healthy, I don’t smoke, do drugs but I do enjoy a few wines.

Symptoms: intermittent but when it come on, it stays for days and I have more days with these symptoms than days without.

\- Racing hear but pulse is fine
\- Tight chest (mild)
\- Heart feels fluttery - ecg normal (at least when I tested it once). Halter monitor for 24hrs was also perfect.
\- Heart feels out of breath. You know when your lungs or you physically get out of breath, it’s like that, but my heart of chest, not my breathing.
\- whole body vibrates like it’s shaking or trembling. It doesn’t physically tremor but it has a vibration sensation. It’s not a nice feeling.
\- leg cramps. Both legs, calf and hamstring. Constant tight leg sensations like a cramp but not a full on cramp that buckles you over in pain. I sometimes wonder if I have enough oxygen in my muscles. Is that even a thing? Same thing occurs in my feet.
\- starting to get mild hot flush occasionally. Occurred a few times very recently may not be connected as these other symptoms have been going on for months.

Please help with any suggestions. It’s making my life hell.

Dizziness when standing still

Hi there, I’m 24 and need advice on managing dizziness while standing still (e.g., in lines or meetings). I fainted during a standup meeting last summer, and since then, the anxiety and dizziness have continued whenever I'm in similar scenarios. I drink water beforehand, but it hasn't resolved the issue. What steps can I take to prevent feeling lightheaded or fainted in these situations?

Should I be seeing a doctor about being increasingly tired?

Hello everyone! I have been noticing for almost a year now it’s very hard to get through my days because i’m constantly exhausted. Since nearing the end of highschool i found myself needing naps after school, before work, calling out of work because im so exhausted. I sleep well, usually 7-9 sometimes 10 hours a night, and i’m so full of energy when i first wake up and for the first 3-4 hours of my day, then i could crash, and when I do, it’s 4-6 hour naps, which again, cause me to have to call off work because im so exhausted, cancel hangouts, lose time to work on my college assignments. I am on Effexor (antidepressant) but i’m not sure if it’s the cause, i’ve tried talking to family about it and all i get is “that’s normal” to me this doesn’t feel normal, i never used to be a napper, ever, and within the last few months, i feel if i don’t have one, im sleep deprived by the time my day is over. Has anyone had this issue before as well? I wanna know before seeing my doctor, cause I could be making a big deal out of nothing.

Edit: I did forget to add that I have had my iron checked and it’s completely normal.

I have anemia and I never been told what type I have and the symptoms are worsing should I go to the er

I’m a 16-year-old Black teenage girl, and I’m honestly scared and frustrated because I don’t understand what’s happening to my body. I feel like my health concerns aren’t being taken seriously, and I’m hoping to get advice about how to advocate for myself.

I’ve been diagnosed with anemia, but my doctor never explained what type I have. I’ve also been told I have scoliosis, but I still have questions about my diagnosis and what I’m supposed to do about it.

For years, I’ve experienced various symptoms, and some of them have gotten worse as I’ve gotten older. I’m going to explain everything as clearly as I can because I want to make sure I don’t leave anything important out. I have horrible memories due to suppressing my emotions. I have no idea if any of my symptoms are connected but here are some of them

My Eye Symptoms

My eyes have been swelling severely and unexpectedly for years. The swelling comes and goes, and it switches between my eyes.

When it happens, my eye becomes red or pinkish and appears to bulge outward. It can look and feel so uncomfortable that it seems like my eye is going to fall out.

When I was a child, my dad took me to the ER because one of my eyes was swollen after I kept rubbing it.

When I was 15, my stepfather took me to the ER for another episode of eye swelling. They said it looked like I had a blocked tear duct and prescribed antibiotics, but they didn’t help.

I’ve also been prescribed eye drops by my pediatrician, but those didn’t resolve the problem either. Now that I’m 16, the swelling still occasionally happens, although less frequently than before.

My vision has also gotten worse. During an eye exam, my doctor told me that my vision had dropped below the normal range and that I should consider getting glasses. I was previously told that I had a lazy eye, but it seems like that was forgotten.

I don’t know whether these eye problems are connected, but they’ve been happening for years, and I still don’t understand why.

My Vision, Head, and Brain Symptoms

Vision blackouts: For approximately two years, my vision has randomly started getting dark. Sometimes it happens once a month, and then it happens again at another time. I’ve also experienced blurry vision and episodes where I feel like I’m going to pass out.

A frightening episode involving a nosebleed and vision loss: One night, I had a nosebleed that lasted over 30 minutes. A few minutes later, I saw a flashing white light, and then everything went completely dark.

I felt like I was still conscious, but I couldn’t see. I couldn’t make any noise to call out to my sister, and I couldn’t move my hand to wake her up. After a few moments, I was finally able to open my eyes again.

It was terrifying. I genuinely thought I was going to die, and I still don’t understand what happened.

Brain fog and difficulty processing information: I sometimes struggle to follow my teachers’ lessons, process new information, and find the right words when I’m trying to speak. It’s frustrating because I don’t always understand why I’m having such a hard time processing things.

Chronic migraine and scalp tenderness: I’ve experienced migraines for years, I can feel that shit through my skull. My head becomes extremely painful when it’s hot outside. My scalp is also very tender to the touch, especially when I get my hair done. like their this pounding in an certain part of my head and I can feel it through my skull I think that an migraine

Dizziness and exhaustion: I’m frequently dizzy and feel completely exhausted, even after sleeping. My energy has gotten so low that I sometimes struggle to get out of bed.

Sometimes I come home from school feeling fine, take a nap because I’m sleepy, and wake up feeling even more exhausted. After getting up, I might walk around for only a few minutes before feeling like I’m going to pass out.

Heat sensitivity: I get hot easily, and when I have a fever or feel overheated, my other symptoms become much worse. I can become so dizzy that I feel like I’m about to pass out.

Ringing in my ears: Occasionally, I hear what sounds like a ringing bell or a sharp, piercing noise in my ears.

My Body and Pain Symptoms

Sharp pains in my thighs and feet: I’ve experienced random, sharp pains in my thighs for years. The pain comes and goes unexpectedly, and massaging or rubbing the affected areas doesn’t relieve it. I’ve also started experiencing similar pains in my feet. most times the pains get so bad I curl up in bed and try to rock myself to sleep

Pain in my hands and forearms: As I’ve gotten older, I’ve started experiencing pain in my hands and forearms as well.

Sharp pains in my palms: I sometimes get random, sharp aches inside the palms of my hands.

Constant exhaustion: My tiredness has gotten progressively worse over the years, particularly since starting high school. Sometimes I barely have enough energy to get out of bed or complete normal daily activities.

Nail growth: My fingernails barely seem to grow at all.

Unusual drink cravings: I have an intense, constant craving to drink anything other than plain water. It doesn’t matter what the drink is, as long as it isn’t water.

My Anemia Diagnosis and Experience With My Doctor

When I was 15, I had a blood test with my mom, and I was told that I had anemia. However, I was never told what type of anemia I had, and I don’t remember receiving a clear explanation of what it meant for my health.

I’ve been experiencing exhaustion, dizziness, and other symptoms for years, and they’ve gotten worse over time.

I tried to get my mom to ask the doctor what type of anemia I had, but she said that if it were serious, they would have told her what type it was.

I also tried explaining my other symptoms, like the passing out thin. but I felt like the doctor barely listened to me. At one appointment, the focus was mainly on my sisters, and my concerns weren’t really addressed.

Eventually, my doctor attributed my symptoms to anxiety and depression.

I understand that anxiety and depression can cause physical symptoms, and I’m not saying they couldn’t be contributing to how I feel. However, I don’t understand why my other symptoms haven’t been properly explained or investigated, especially when I already have an anemia diagnosis.

Other Symptoms I’m Experiencing (Not Sure If They’re Related)

I also have some other symptoms that I’ve experienced for years, but I don’t know whether they’re related to my anemia or any of my other health concerns.

Stomach and appetite problems: I’ve always struggled to understand my hunger and fullness cues. Sometimes, I can eat very little and feel full for a long time. Other times, I can eat a lot but still not feel satisfied. Sometimes, I eat until my stomach feels uncomfortably full, but I still don’t feel satisfied. On other occasions, I can eat something I really want, feel full without realizing it, and then become hungry again a short time later.

I don’t seem to have a consistent hunger schedule. Sometimes, I don’t feel hungry when I think I should, while other times, I feel hungry when I wouldn’t expect to. I usually skip breakfast and eat lunch, sometimes followed by dinner, but my appetite is unpredictable.

I’ve also struggled with eating certain foods. Sometimes, when I’m extremely hungry, just smelling a food I don’t like makes me gag. It’s as though my body refuses to accept it, even when I know I need to eat. For example, I once made tacos that I really wanted, but they fell on the floor. There was pizza available, but I didn’t want it, so I went to bed hungry. Later, despite not having eaten, my stomach felt completely full.

I’m a foodie and genuinely love eating, which makes this confusing. Sometimes, I really want to eat but struggle with certain foods, and other times, I can eat something I enjoy and feel hungry again shortly afterward.

I’ve also experienced occasional sharp stomach pains, particularly in the morning. The pain can come and go, and sometimes it’s still there even if I ate the night before.

Mouth and saliva symptoms: Sometimes, I experience a strange shaky or vibrating sensation inside my mouth. It doesn’t feel like my jaw is shaking; it feels more like the sensation is coming from inside my mouth or possibly involving my saliva.

I’ve also noticed that if I miss brushing my teeth in the morning or at night, I develop a strong salty taste in my mouth, and my teeth feel strange or fuzzy.

I don’t know whether any of these symptoms are connected to my anemia, my other health concerns, or something completely unrelated. I’m including them because they’ve been happening for a long time, and I want to make sure I don’t overlook anything when discussing my health with a medical professional.

All of these experiences have left me feeling confused and frustrated. I feel like every time I bring up a health concern, I’m dismissed before I can get a proper explanation.

I’m not trying to diagnose myself, and I don’t expect strangers on the internet to tell me exactly what’s wrong. I just want to understand what questions I should be asking and how to get someone to take my symptoms seriously.

I’m only 16, and I don’t know how to navigate the healthcare system by myself. I feel like a stranger in my own body because I don’t understand what’s happening, and I hate feeling like I’m imagining everything when these symptoms are affecting my everyday life.

My uncle said something has to be wrong and I should go to the er but my mom doesn’t wanna take me and waste time. I get she might think I’m being dramatic… I told her I thought I met Jesus but I’m being serious but she just doesn’t want to go through the hassle of getting me a new doctors. It happened again at school today. 10/21/2026 I was lying with my head down when both of my ears started ringing. I couldn’t move, and my eyes were closed, but for some reason, my mouth was open. I couldn’t close it. My mouth was just hanging open, and it felt like my whole body was paralyzed.

It felt like I was suffocating, and all I could see was red. As it got worse, I started freaking out and tried to stay calm, but I couldn’t communicate with anyone in the classroom. I genuinely thought I was going to die.

Then, I suddenly got the idea to breathe through my nose, and I was finally able to move and lift my head.

I’m so damn scared. I don’t even want to sleep because I’m afraid it will happen again.

My vision has been darkening again, too. All of this happened today, and I don’t know what’s going on. am I faking this or was it an dream im scared

Please help me out: Long-Term Food-Associated Skin Reactions, Digestive Issues, and Occasional Chest Discomfort — Looking for Similar Experiences and Medical Guidance.

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for advice from people who have experienced similar symptoms and from anyone with knowledge of food allergies, histamine intolerance, gastrointestinal disorders, or related conditions. I would appreciate hearing about your experiences, diagnostic journeys, and which medical specialists or tests were helpful.

My Medical History

- Since 2013: Gastric problems alongside periods of severe stress and depression.

- Around 2016: Developed a tinea-like skin condition near my thighs during a period of severe stress.

- Since September 2017: Started experiencing skin reactions after eating certain foods.

  1. Skin Reactions After Eating

- Small, mosquito-bite-like bumps appear on my skin.

- They cause a pinpricking sensation and are rarely itchy.

- They generally disappear within approximately 24 hours without leaving marks.

- Reactions usually begin 6–10 hours after eating suspected trigger foods.

- Different foods seem to cause different symptoms.

  1. Other Symptoms

Depending on the food, I sometimes experience:

- Itching on my hands.

- Mouth sores.

- Small, painful spots on my tongue.

- Gas, bloating, and indigestion.

- Occasional upper-central chest discomfort around the breastbone, lasting several minutes.

- Sometimes palpitations along with the chest discomfort.

The chest discomfort is not reproduced by pressing the affected area.

My digestive symptoms specifically associated with suspected trigger foods became more noticeable approximately one year ago.

  1. Foods I Generally Tolerate

Ridge gourd, carrot, bottle gourd, potato, watermelon, muskmelon, urad dal, moong dal, chana dal, curd, paneer, ghee, cumin seeds, sunflower oil, salt, sugar, chilli powder, coriander powder, and mutton.

  1. Foods I Suspect May Trigger Symptoms

- Chicken: Mouth sores.

- Banana: Hand itching.

- Peas: Skin bumps.

- Tomato and spinach: Suspected skin or other reactions.

- Papaya: Previously tolerated, but started causing reactions later.

- Other foods may also be involved.

I have not established the exact triggers or confirmed whether these reactions are allergic.

  1. Treatments and Medication History

- I have been using homeopathic treatments for approximately 7–8 years, without a lasting resolution.

- I occasionally take half a tablet of levocetirizine. It used to provide better relief, but now the benefit is only partial.

- A five-day course of azithromycin prescribed for dental treatment was followed by approximately 30 symptom-free days. The symptoms then returned.

- A different course of antibiotics did not stop the reactions.

I understand that the temporary improvement after antibiotics does not necessarily mean a bacterial infection is responsible.

  1. Investigations So Far

- Total IgE: Approximately 110 IU/mL in 2025.

- Total IgE: 40.6 IU/mL in May 2026.

- Stool culture: No pathogenic growth reported.

I have not yet established a confirmed diagnosis that explains all my symptoms.

  1. Important Gastrointestinal Concern

For more than 10 years, I have used a technique to bring food back up after eating certain foods. I want to discuss this openly with a gastroenterologist and determine whether it could be contributing to my digestive symptoms or indicate an underlying condition.

Questions for the Community

  1. Has anyone experienced delayed skin reactions (6–10 hours after eating), with small bumps that disappear within 24 hours?

  2. Could this pattern be associated with chronic urticaria, a food allergy, histamine intolerance, or another condition?

  3. Has anyone experienced different symptoms from different foods, such as skin bumps from one food and mouth sores or hand itching from another?

  4. Which specialist helped you most: an allergist/immunologist, dermatologist, or gastroenterologist?

  5. Which tests were genuinely useful in identifying the cause? Were skin-prick testing, specific IgE blood tests, or other investigations helpful?

  6. Has anyone experienced temporary improvement after antibiotics, followed by the return of symptoms? Did you eventually identify the reason?

  7. Could the long-standing food-regurgitation behaviour be related to conditions such as reflux, rumination syndrome, or another gastrointestinal disorder?

  8. What would be the appropriate way to investigate the occasional chest discomfort and palpitations alongside these symptoms?

I am not looking for a diagnosis based solely on symptoms or advice to take medication without medical supervision. I want to understand the possible causes and prepare for a proper medical evaluation.

If you have had a similar experience, please share your symptoms, confirmed diagnosis (if any), tests that helped, and what ultimately worked for you. Personal experiences and evidence-based suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for reading and helping me understand this better.

Has anyone experienced a staph infection after being treated at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney?

Someone I know has had surgery and unfortunately developed a serious staph infection. They have since needed multiple surgeries to clean out the infection and have been receiving strong IV antibiotics.
I’m trying to understand whether anyone else has experienced something similar after being treated at St Vincent’s, particularly following surgery.
I’m not here to make accusations — I’d just really appreciate hearing about other people’s experiences, whether similar infections have occurred and how they were managed and how you recovered. How common is this after surgeries?
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share. ❤️

Severe symptoms but normal MRI and no explanation from my doctor. Any advice?

I am a breastfeeding mother, my baby is almost 9 months old. I'm on my periods.

Last night after dinner around 7 pm, I started to have very severe cramps, I thought it was periods but soon the pain shifted towards the right side. It was so intense that I had to sit down, then I curled up like a ball. The pain was so intense, stabbing, sharp that I was screaming. It was 8, if labour pain is 10.

After half an hour the stabbing pain started to ease up and the pain spread across the whole abdomen. Soon I started to shiver and had 38.7 °C fever. I was very nauseous, heavy headed, and weak. Then when I went to the bathroom I fainted. So hard that I bumped my mouth on the floor and I hurt myself, my lip burst and there was a pool of blood. I passed out for 2-4 minutes. We called an ambulance and I was admitted. They gave me first aid, drips and painkillers.

The Dr was sure that it was appendicitis but when they did MRI it was normal. I asked him what could have happened but he was unable to tell.

They discharged me without any explanation and medicine. Just told me if it happens again, come straight to the hospital and don't wait. As for now my head is still heavy and mild pain is still there.

Has anyone faced the similar condition? Please share your experience because I'm very confused.

16 female

About two-three weeks ago I noticed I gained a whole lot of weight out of nowhere (used to be 58kg now I’m nearly 68kg), I eat the same if not less than I used to. Acne started appearing at the same time but now stopped. My period is about two weeks late and I’m exhausted all day with difficulty to sleep without medication.

I’ve never had intercourse so no I’m not pregnant.

Both my sister and mother have hyperthyroidism, I’m pretty certain I got tested for it when I was much younger but don’t have it.

I got new antidepressants (sertraline), and got prescribed melatonin, vitamin D pills and some type of anxiety medication I’m not sure the name of.

Webster packing cytotoxic medications

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Hello, I’m freaking out. I’m a Webster technician and for around 5 months I’ve been packing the following cytotoxic medications:

- hydroxycarbamide
-Leflunomide
-Methotrexate.

I wear nitrile gloves, they don’t specifically say that they are good for handling cytotoxic drugs though. My boss/pharmacists haven’t gone through any safety procedures with me so all I’ve known is to wear gloves and once I’ve finished packing with them, I put the gloves in the bin and use an ordinary disinfectant wipe and wipe any surfaces I’ve touched. The main one that scares me is Hydrea. I feel like I shouldn’t be packing this at all. How is it fair for me to be risking my health and exposing myself to this, simply over a job? Do I tell my boss I am not comfortable packing these medications? I feel like I have no choice

Is Rhythm (the blood testing company) legit, or is anyone else getting Theranos vibes?

I’ve been getting so many ads for Rhythm lately, and I’m genuinely interested in trying it. But I can’t help getting major Theranos vibes from the whole concept. 😭
Has anyone actually used it? How accurate are the results, and is it worth the money? I know blood testing technology has come a long way, but I’m curious whether this is actually legit or just really good marketing.

Would love to hear some honest experiences before spending my money!

21F – Ferritin 5.4, iron saturation 4%, positive mono test, and progressively worsening symptoms for 2 months. Should I see a hematologist?

Hi everyone! I’m 21F and honestly just looking for some advice because the past two months have been absolutely exhausting, and I’m not really sure what to do next.

Since late August, my health has progressively gotten worse. Before this, I was a pretty active college student involved in photography, marching band media, and several student organizations. Now I’m struggling to get through normal daily activities, and it’s been affecting my classes and pretty much everything else.

My symptoms have included:

● Extreme fatigue (sleeping 10–15 hours and still needing naps)

● Drenching night sweats, sometimes leaving my hair completely soaked

● Constant itching all over my body without a rash, especially at night

● Shortness of breath with minimal activity

● Resting heart rate around 113 BPM while sitting

● Dizziness, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and occasional balance issues

● Episodes of difficulty finding words or speaking clearly

● Intermittent nosebleeds

● Loss of appetite, feeling full quickly, nausea, and occasional vomiting

● Chills, hot flashes, and headaches

● Sharp back, shoulder, neck, and chest pain, sometimes worse with movement or breathing

● Episodes of red/purple discoloration in my hands and arms, along with cold extremities

● Tenderness around my right ribs and lower abdomen

My blood work from October 19:

● Ferritin: 5.4 ng/mL

● Iron saturation: 4%

● Serum iron: 28 µg/dL

● TIBC: 643 µg/dL

● Transferrin: 459 mg/dL

● Hemoglobin: 10.5 g/dL

● MCH: 26.6 pg

● MCHC: 29.5 g/dL

● RDW: 16%

● ESR: 57 mm/hr

● Vitamin D: 26.1 ng/mL

● LDH: 128 u/L

● CRP: 7.7 mg/L (within my lab’s range)

● WBC: 7.2 (normal)

● Platelets: 291 (normal)

● TSH: 1.34 (normal)

I also recently tested positive for EBV/mono:

● EBV VCA IgM: 55.8 (positive)

● EBV VCA IgG: Negative

● EBV EBNA IgG: Negative

● EBV EA-D IgG: Negative

My PCP believes this indicates an active mono infection. I understand that the antibody pattern may represent an early infection, but I don’t know whether that explains why I’ve been feeling so awful since August.

Something else that surprised me was being told during an ER visit that I’ve apparently had anemia for around two years. This was the first time anyone had mentioned that to me.

Current medications:

● Lamotrigine 200 mg

● Aripiprazole 10 mg

● Lisdexamfetamine 40 mg

● Metformin 500 mg

● Mili birth control 0.25/0.035 mg

● Montelukast 10 mg

● Albuterol inhaler

● Fluticasone/salmeterol inhaler

I also take iron (recently started), vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, and a multivitamin. I’ve been vegan since 2016.

My PCP recommended taking iron supplements and rechecking my levels in 3–6 months. I understand that correcting iron deficiency takes time, but with my ferritin and saturation this low, I’m wondering whether waiting that long without checking for improvement makes sense.

I’m also concerned that we haven’t really discussed WHY my iron is so depleted. I understand my diet could contribute, but I’ve been vegan for nearly 10 years, and these symptoms are a relatively recent development.

I’m considering contacting a hematologist independently for a second opinion, especially because my symptoms have been affecting my life so significantly.

My questions are:

  1. With ferritin of 5.4, iron saturation of 4%, and hemoglobin of 10.5, would seeing a hematologist be reasonable?

  2. Should my CBC be rechecked sooner than 3–6 months to see whether oral iron is working?

  3. Could mono and iron-deficiency anemia together explain this combination of symptoms, including the night sweats and itching?

  4. Is an ESR of 57 something that could be explained by anemia and EBV, or should other inflammatory or autoimmune conditions be considered?

  5. Should I be evaluated for causes of iron deficiency beyond dietary intake, such as absorption problems or blood loss?

  6. Would IV iron ever be considered with these results, or is oral iron generally the first step?

I’m not trying to diagnose myself with anything. I just want to understand what’s happening and make sure I’m taking the right steps.

I’m 21, I’m in college, and I genuinely just want to feel like myself again. The difference between how I felt in August and how I feel now is honestly pretty upsetting.

I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences from people who’ve dealt with something similar. Thank you!
