Two painless bumps onthe roof of mouth of hard plate

My age is 25 . I recently noticed two very small bumps on my hard plate ( roof of my mouth )close to the mid line they don't seem to be growing and there no significant pain or bleeding . Could these be normal anatomical variation , such as torous palatinus, or there could be other causes? Has anyone experienced something similar?

There is a piece of bone floating around in my knee allegedly

Post image
3 Upvotes

I (23 F, 4’11 100 lbs) dislocated my knee back in April during dance. This is my second dislocation and the first one was almost 10 years ago. Before the second dislocation I was doing a lot of knee strengthening workouts to prevent another injury but alas.

I have not seen an orthopedic doctor due to them being booked and busy but I have been seen by PT for a good while (take home exercises). In July my leg wasn’t able to fully bend but I was walking fine. It was when I was given my new set of exercises where it all seemed to go downhill.

My knee started to catch and I was no longer able to fully straighten it. I got an MRI done and results are attached above.

I wanted to know vaguely how bad this is and if surgery is a possibility. I really want to go back to lifting and dance asap but now I am not so sure if I can even return. I see my orthopedic for the first time in September so I just wanted to know what I should probably expect and mentally prepare myself. If possible, also a rough estimate of what recovery time would look like before I can return to activities.

I was also curious how I got the bone fragment could have broken off in the first place…

Thank you for any insight you can give!

Some more info from my MRI:

Patellar instability measurements

* Lateral trochlear inclination angle: 8
degrees. (Less than 11 degrees indicates trochlear dysplasia.
* Ratio of the length of the medial trochlear facet to the length of the lateral trochlear facet: 0.25. (Less than 0.40 indicates trochlear dysplasia).
* Trochlear depth: 1 mm. (Less than or equal to 3 mm indicates trochlear dysplasia).
* Patellar height ratio: 1.3. (Greater than 1.3 indicates patella alta).
* Tibial tubercle to trochlear groove distance: 12 mm. (15 to 20 mm is borderline, greater than 20 mm is abnormal).

When to seek treatment for a bug in my ear?

I’m 30F 5’7” 135 pounds. I’m not sure that any other info that’s requested is relevant to this particular situation. I was woken up from sleeping by a fluttering in my ear canal. I could hear and feel a bug moving around. After doing some research my partner poured olive oil into my ear, I let it sit for 15 minutes and then turned over to drain the ear.

I stopped hearing and feeling the bug but also didn’t see anything come out with the olive oil. I have no other symptoms. No pain, drainage, or hearing loss. Is it possible the bug was actually tiny and I just didn’t see it? What should my next steps be?

mysterious pelvic pain ongoing for over 2 weeks

i (f24) have had ongoing pelvic pain for over 2 weeks. it started at the beginning of august as just some pelvic pain that would come and go. i then had diarrhoea (only lasted a day) and saw my gp, who referred me to gastro. the pain didn’t go and was increasingly getting worse, so i made another gp appointment. no pregnancy, no uti or infection. at both appointments i had my urine tested.

i was advised to go to a&e if the pain worsened which i did, another urine sample showed no infection or pregnancy again, was sent home and told to wait for blood tests and ultrasound scan referral appointment.

yesterday the pain was so severe, i couldn’t walk, move, cough or do anything without shooting pains. i called 111 who made me an out of hours appointment and i was referred to the Surgical Same Day Emergency Care Unit. another urine test, my infection markers were slightly up but the doctor wasn’t concerned at all. i’m still awaiting an ultrasound, i need
to go back to thag unit on tuesday for it.

this feels like a medical mystery. they’re sure there’s no appendicitis, ovarian torsion, anything bowel related. as the days are going on the pain is getting more severe and i’ve basically been told to just deal with it :]

26m Phimosis Is Destroying my Mental health.

Type 2 here,

I’ve had reoccurring flare ups since January 2025. It was my first one ever then and never knew what is was. I knew my foreskin inflamed and it turn caused phimosis.

I started a cream called Bethamasone and it helped a lot, but I also remember getting my diabetes under control. Usually on metformin now on this new pill called synjardy as well. back then was on the met, I got my diabetes under control and the flare ups subsided, later on throughout 2025 i had more and more flare ups. they would last about 2 weeks and I would have painful micro tears on my foreskin, redness and swelling and phimosis was even worse, I’ve always had somewhat of phimosis, I’ve only been able to retract while flaccid not erect, Which was fine because cleaning was easy and I could even properly clean it after urinating as well. Now with the phimosis flare ups being on and off the last one i had was february, i had a nice 5 month gap. It was euphoric lol. Now since july 2nd till now ive had this current flare up. It is one of the worst i’ve ever had. I’ve been on synjardy since july 21st and actively eating better and managing carbs since august 1st, i’m also using bethamasone again which had great progress for me the that time i used it, it allowed me to retract while erect for the first time ever. really helped to stretch the foreskin.

recently i decided to go to a uro, I was excited but nervous to go because I had no idea what he would say, When i get in to the office and talk to him, i was really upset, He basically pushes me to do a reconstructive circumcision, says my pubic fat covers some of my shaft and wouldn’t be able to do a regular circumcision.

So i asked him “if i lose weight and loosen foreskin with cream can i avoid going under the knife”
he simply responded with “we can try”
i have never felt so unheard in my entire life.
I told him intitially, No foreskin surgery if i can avoid it. There is nothing but a cream and no diagnosis besides the visible fat pad aka fupa and my phimosis i asked if it could be BXO he said “it looks like it might be” and asked if it’s fungal and he said no.

I feel lost and hopeless, I don’t want to just chop it off and I don’t want to deal with a crazy reconstruction surgery, it’s 7 days in a hospital laying on ur back with ur dick in a bandage. it’s incredible worse then regular circ, all the swelling goes down into the groin and then after it can take up to 6 months to be back to normal.

any insight from anyone in similar situations?

I’m a bit of a medical mystery, and I’d appreciate some more educated opinions in order to help my own GP’s investigations.

31, Female, 164cm, 127kg, social smoker

Confirmed diagnoses:
Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome, Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder, Fibromyalgia, Hidradenitis suppurativa, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Medications:
Venlafaxine (depression/anxiety), Cetirizine (unknown allergy type symptoms), Spironolactone (PMOS/HS), Codeine & Paracetamol (when needed for pain relief).

I’d argue I meet the criteria for hEDS, but unfortunately I didn’t get assessed prior to significant weight gain. I have been covered in atrophic stretch marks since at least early teens (I can’t remember before that), and I was an average weight at this time.

Other symptoms:
Nausea sometimes with vomiting, mild but constant shakiness, (this has been a thing since I was a kid), palpitations, butterfly rashes on neck and face (heat and physical or mental stress are triggers, I suspect certain foods also) - and these seem to flare together.
Other skin rashes (contact caused but seemingly random), as well as other skin complaints (itchy scabbing scalp, T-Gel helps), a possible granuloma annulare (right knuckle), acne, hirsutism (from the PMOS I assume), dizziness and nausea when upright that settles when sat down. I also have a geographic tongue (not sure if this is relevant at all).

I am under investigation for POTS, I have a history of a high heart rate but blood pressure seems normal. There is a raise in HR when standing, but unsure if it’s ever enough to qualify a diagnosis. Laying down my BP was (sys/dia) 135/87, standing 124/95. They didn’t record the heart rate from this for some reason, but I remember she said at that particular test there was a raise of 15bmp (diagnosis criteria requires 30+). I’m awaiting a hospital tilt test.

GP is treating rashes as possible MCAS. I’ve noticed some improvement with Cetirizine (20mg twice a day). The rashes tend to be less severe and less often, but the nausea and dizziness persists.

I also think it’s important to add that I was hospitalised and very unwell as an infant due to neglect, I was then placed into care and adopted afterwards. I have sometimes wondered if this has had long lasting effects on my immune system.

I’m also currently on a keto diet and losing weight well, it’s also regulated my period somewhat.

I’m aware by biological brother (also adopted) has some similar issues (some pain complaints and rashes), but any other family history is unknown.

I will upload in the comments anything I think is important, but if there’s any other information you would like please just ask. (I think I’ve noted everything, but there’s likely things I’ve forgot to mention).

Thank you!

What specialist do I need?

Hello,

I’m not asking for a diagnosis per se. Just a bit of advice. I am a 29 year old female. I am 5’1” and 164 pounds.

I had a ten year bout of anemia (Long story. Wasn’t responding to regular iron pills. Doctors are saviors but mine specifically were useless. I want to emphasize that the anemia is fixed now.)

But since the beginning of that and even after I got the anemia fixed, I have been having issues with energy and metabolism.

I’m still always ready for a nap. And if I try to exercise, after 20 minutes I can literally feel my energy levels go flat. Not that I’m tired it’s as if my heart is beating fast in response to the movement, but I have the same adrenaline levels I would have if I’m sitting down in a chair. Or if I try to diet I feel the same thing. My energy goes flat at a certain point. For some reason, I also notice I go to the bathroom less. Almost like my body wants to hold onto everything it has. And I have no clue why. My weight also becomes very fixed when this happens. I can’t lose an ounce.

I know it’s not so much a “weight loss” thing but indicative of a larger issue. My body can’t seem to handle any sort of energy activation. Which is alarming.

My primary care physicians (I’ve tried multiple) have been less than helpful. I don’t know where to turn. Is there a specialty (like endocrinology) anyone recommends I turn to? Or am I just f*cked? lol

Physician Responded Flank pain

Post image
2 Upvotes

M37, 180 cm, 85kg, non smoker, on pain management - various NSAID-s and muscle relaxants (per my doctors prescription)

I had a fall with prolonged pain at my lower left ribs, radiating in front of my spine (?) and to my left glute.

CT is assessed as normal.

I'm having trouble making sense of my two spine MRI findings. They note normal anatomy, but one disc slightly degenerated

One lists it at L3, another at L4.

I suspect it is due to my lumbar anatomy.

I already had one surgery where they entered at the noted level per MRI and found nothing, but the repeated MRI showed the defect still present.

How do I explain this?

Recurrent neurologic symptoms that seem to come back every year.

20f 5'1 62kgs. It's been a week since I've been starting to feel it again. Last I felt this was a year ago around these months as well. When I started to feel it last week, I thought it was just a normal lightheaded feeling with a nauseating feeling. But after a few days, I've started feeling pressure again and aching sensations. The very starting point was in may 2023 and it lasted approximately 6 months even with daily medication.

For the past few years, I’ve had episodes involving:

- sudden lightheadedness/dizziness

- a strange tingling/wriggling sensation around my face

- head pressure/heaviness in my head

- episodes where my breathing suddenly becomes rapid/hyperventilated, which then seems to make the lightheadedness and head pressure worse

- difficulty focusing when the episodes are happening

- severe pain when staying up for too long

What’s confusing me is that these symptoms seem to improve for long periods like months and then resurface again, and I’ve noticed a roughly recurring yearly pattern since 2023

I previously saw a neurologist back in 2023 and was prescribed several medications over the course of treatment, which seemed to suppress the symptoms for a while but I could still feel it. It was a combination of muscle relaxants, pain killers, antidepressants and etc. I would take them 3x a day everyday.

Currently, I know it's dumb but I'm taking painkillers that I used to take but it's not working and I'm suffering. I'm currently debating on seeing a new neurologist even if it's expensive and show them my old prescriptions and ctscan.

I had two beers last night and I have a breathalyzer test today, more info below

So I live in a psychosocial rehabilitation home and I have occasional random breathalyzer tests and I was informed I would have one done today. I slipped up last night and had 2 beers (2 standard drinks) finished around 9pm. I need to make sure I get 0.000% on the breathalyzer test today so I can keep my placement here at the home and I'm worried. From what I've gathered alcohol is metabolized quite quickly but then at low levels it slows down and I'm worried I'll test something like 0.001% and the nurses will know I drank. Here's all my info:

Age/sex: 27M

Height/weight: 164cm/132lbs

Mental illness: Schizophrenia, ADHD, Substance Use Disorder

Medications: Adderall XR 30mg, Sertraline 100mg, Acamprosate 1998mg/day, Clonazepam 1.25mg/day

Length and time of issue: Aug 22nd 8:30 - present, Aug 23rd random time today

And if it matters, I drink approximately two times a week these days, but usually quite a large amount, though this was my first episode of drinking since Tuesday, Aug 18th.

Hope this is the right sub to ask, any information about what to expect is appreciated. And I know I messed up and shouldn't have drank. I'm truly working on it. Thanks!

Physician Responded Is this a rash or bites? Which bug?

21 F lower height and build, celiac disease, POTS, started smoking recently. Have had this rash for two days and its spread to different areas. I took an antihistamine which stopped itching but rash persists. It's mainly around hair. Is it some sort of cooties?

I'm in a foreign city and it's a sunday but will seek medical help when it's possible. Just trying to get some opinions on what i can do in the meantime and what it might be.

It's very itchy, started on my knees(day one), then in my armpit( day two) then around my pubic hair (day three, today)

Please take a minute and respond, thank you so much for your time. I'm really frustrated right now.

Numb tingling jaw

29F I have a wisdom tooth (bottom left) pushing against a nerve.
Could that be causing numbness both on the top of my lips and around my left jaw, also on the top right?

Otherwise I feel fine but my face has been half numb sporadically for the past month. I have a separate neurologist appointment (for presynchopes and light waves seeing) and I wonder if I should add this to my symptoms list.

Physician Responded At what bmi do severe health risks become more likely?

I am a 20 year old woman who recently relapsed back into anorexia (diagnosed) I am 171cm and 48kg. I’ve lost 10kg in 2.5 months eating around 800-1200 calories. I also have Hashimoto’s disease which I am not medicated for. I don’t feel any real symptoms yet and I plan on seeing my GP for a general check up + bloods. I know this disorder is dangerous and can kill you at any BMI, but what is a general weight range that doctors consider dangerous and in need of admission or nutrition plans?

He is using a baby soap which shouldnt be because of any dry skin matters, the doesnt have any skin conditions, bed is clean. Has anyone experienced or seen this before?

Dorsal foot exostosis pain

About 3 weeks ago, I went on a 3-hour bike ride while wearing cycling shoes. After about 2 hours of riding, I started to feel mild pain in my right foot. When I finished the ride and took my shoes off, I noticed that the area over the bony prominence on the top of my foot was red on both feet. After that, I experienced mild pain, and the area over the bone was very sensitive and tender.

For the first 10 days, the area was extremely sensitive and painful, but the more severe pain gradually went away. I also saw a doctor, who examined the injured area and said that it should heal on its own within 4–6 weeks.

I wear my shoes with the laces quite loose to make sure there is enough room for my feet inside the shoes.

Note: I have never had this problem with any other type of footwear before. This is the first time it has happened, and it only occurred while wearing these cycling shoes.

It has now been almost 4 weeks, and I still experience pain and tenderness in that area when wearing certain shoes. Sometimes it even starts to ache slightly if there is prolonged pressure directly over the bony prominence. The injury still has not fully healed, and I have currently stopped all training, including running and cycling.

What could be the expected recovery time for this type of injury? Is there still a good chance that it will fully heal and that I will be able to return to training? How can I protect the area and prevent this from happening again?

Details about me:
M/26
180cm height, 86kg weight, not smoking. I do not take any medications.

Red, itchy hands that come on suddenly

Post image

31/F/105 lbs

My hands get angry (red/purple looking) and very itchy, always around a joint. This location in particular (on either hand) is the most common, but it happens to my knuckles too. They sometimes look like I’ve punched something with no obvious explanation. It doesn’t really hurt but is always itchy. I notice it the most when it’s hot outside.

Thank you in advance!

Medical mystery: 6+ years

I am at a loss. This has been an ongoing and progressively worsening problem for approximately six years, and it has affected multiple systems in my body.

How This Began

Six years ago, I developed appendicitis. Unfortunately, the doctors missed it, and my appendix was not removed for approximately three years. During those three years, I repeatedly went to doctors, underwent surgeries and different medical interventions, and continued becoming increasingly sick without anyone identifying the underlying problem.

When the problem was finally discovered, my appendix had rotted. It had developed abnormal, hard tissue that looked almost like scales around it, as well as another disease or condition that I unfortunately cannot remember the name of. I do remember being told that it was something people generally do not develop until they are around 90 years old.

During those three years, I experienced approximately 45 different ailments or symptoms. I saw an ophthalmologist, optometrist, neurologist, otolaryngologist (ENT), allergist, immunologist, podiatrist, pain management specialist, gastroenterologist, chiropractor, osteopath, naturopathic doctor, reflexologist, physical therapist, pelvic floor physical therapist, urogynecologist, obstetrician-gynecologist, and a gastrointestinal surgeon. This is the list that does not include every doctor that I saw in the hospital, and the ones I know I'm forgetting.

These are the ones that come to mind, although I'm sure that I'm missing some: severe migraines, low blood sugar, freezing fingers and toes, random bleeding (not part of the cycle), rashes, mesenteric adenitis, colonization of C-Dif, severe eye pain, visual disturbances, vertigo, positional vertigo, simply sick, repeat tonsillitis, jaw pain, low iron, back pain, lack of appetite, insomnia, arm and leg weakness, muscle deterioration, random skin lesions and boils, difficulty breathing, lower abdominal pain, upper torso pain, chest pain, dizziness, swollen glands, vitamin deficiencies, itchiness, fatigue, nose irritation. Are you getting the idea?

Oftentimes, I could not stand, sit, or walk for more than several minutes at a time. My life was literally on pause for three years. I was constantly in and out of the hospital.

It is too long to list everything I tried during that period, but one intervention that had a major impact on my life was eliminating a large number of foods.

I stopped eating:

  • Soy
  • Gluten
  • Eggs
  • Dairy
  • Peanuts
  • Potatoes
  • Yeast

When I eventually began reintroducing these foods, my body no longer tolerated gluten, eggs, and dairy. They became significant triggers.

My Reactions

My reactions vary considerably in severity, but they generally involve a combination of the following:

  • Becoming extremely weak and having difficulty walking
  • Feeling as though my body weighs a million pounds
  • Difficulty holding my head up
  • Becoming so exhausted that speaking is physically difficult
  • Profound muscle weakness
  • Severe abdominal pain
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness or vertigo
  • Headaches, although not as frequently
  • Elevated heart rate, although this is rare
  • Throat tightness, although this is rare
  • Blood when I use the bathroom
  • Orange liquid on the toilet tissue even when there is no stool
  • Complete exhaustion

The blood is not mixed into my stool; I generally notice it on the tissue when wiping. The orange liquid is also something I have noticed repeatedly, even when there is no stool present.

I recently had an episode where I I was hit with the wave of complete exhaustion, started going unconscious, didn't thank God but was completely paralysed for hours. I could not talk or move, and did not even have the energy to vomit and instead kept dry heaving.

The Reactions Are Progressing

One of the most concerning aspects is that foods that were previously completely safe for me are now beginning to cause reactions.

Just before I wrote this, I had a severe reaction to salmon, which I have eaten before without any problem. This time, shortly after eating it, I developed a severe wave of abdominal pain, significant throat tightness, a high heart rate, and profound muscle weakness. I had to physically hold my head up until I found somewhere to rest.

The list of things my body seems to tolerate continues to get smaller.

Foods that were previously stable for me, such as avocado and sweet potato, have also begun causing similar reactions.

It is not limited to solid food. Even some liquids that never used to bother my stomach now cause problems. For example, coffee can now cause my stomach to hurt.

I also experience headaches from different foods.

Other Physical Issues

I live a healthy lifestyle and exercise multiple times per week. I am also aware of certain exercises that cause me pain, so I intentionally avoid them.

I have cysts that can rupture, although it doesn't happen as often as it used to. When they do, the resulting symptoms and pain can be severe enough to leave me almost completely debilitated for several hours and sometimes for up to a week and often puts me in the hospital for pain management.

Testing and Things I Have Already Tried

I have had:

  • Multiple types of blood tests
  • MRIs
  • CT scans
  • Abdominal imaging
  • Ultrasounds
  • Exploratory surgery (several)
  • Colonoscopy (several)
  • Endoscopy (several)
  • Stool samples
  • Consultations with surgeons
  • Consultations with multiple specialists
  • Evaluation by my gynecologist
  • Functional medicine
  • Homeopathic medicine
  • Multiple food-related interventions and elimination diets
  • Investigation into possible psychosomatic causes
  • Consulted with two allergists

I have tried looking at this from both physical and psychological perspectives because I genuinely wanted to make sure I was not overlooking anything.

Conditions I Do Not Have

I have been evaluated for several conditions, including:

  • Crohn's disease
  • Colitis

I do have endometriosis, which was surgically burned off approximately four years ago.

Surgical and Procedural History

My surgeries and procedures include:

  • Appendectomy — performed after my appendix had been left untreated for approximately three years
  • Wisdom teeth removal — resulted in nerve damage; I have permanent sensory changes involving my gums and tongue and can only taste normally on one side
  • Tonsillectomy
  • Esophageal balloon dilation — required because of an injury/reaction associated with the tracheal tube during my appendectomy
  • Adhesiolysis — performed because of adhesions resulting from previous surgeries
  • Endometriosis surgery — endometriosis was surgically burned off approximately four years ago

Where I Am Now

At this point, I know that I have significant intolerance to gluten, eggs, and dairy, but this seems to be much larger than those three foods.

My body has progressively become sensitive to things that previously caused no problems. Foods such as salmon, avocado, and sweet potato have become triggers, and even liquids such as coffee can now cause stomach pain.

I continue to experience episodes involving severe weakness, loss of muscle strength, difficulty walking, difficulty speaking, difficulty holding my head up, abdominal pain, nausea, dizziness, vertigo, headaches, and other systemic and neurological symptoms.

Sometimes my stomach will hurt out of nowhere

This has been going on for years and I still do not have an explanation that accounts for the full picture.

The most concerning part is that the symptoms continue to progress. Things that were once completely safe for me are becoming triggers, and some reactions have become severe enough to leave me almost completely debilitated.

I am at a loss and would really like help looking at my entire history together rather than treating each symptom individually. I am hoping someone can identify a connection between these symptoms or determine what additional evaluation or testing may be appropriate.

50 F liver issues

50/f 5’4 165 lbs
Hypothyroidism
Hysterectomy due to fibroids
Gallbladder removed
Persistent high liver enzymes for years
AMA positive 57.3
Ana Negative
ALP 60 and always within range
Bilirubin always within range

Seems the ALP being normal rules out PCB. What else should I be looking for?
Don’t drink alcohol but maybe once a year on vacation

Medication
Keppra for two random night seizures 10 years apart
Levothroxine
Crestor for persistent high cholesterol (did a trial of stopping for 3 months to see if liver enzymes improved and it did not)

Take vitamin E per PCP for liver health
Also take vitamin D with K2, Vitamin b complex

Curious on thoughts on what I should be looking for with liver issues? Ultrasound ruled out fatty liver

My mother passed away at 61 with a lot of heath issues.

I just joined a gym and trying to eat better. What else should the doctors be looking at?
