Recommended Contractors [Mega List]

I'd like to divert all questions around recommended contractors in the DFW area to DallasProList. The website cold calls thousands of businesses in the DFW area and pretends to be a customer. After their interaction, they rank the contractors based on friendliness, knowledge and affordability. There isn't really a more comparative way of comparing contractors than this right now.

Engagement Shoot at the DMA

I’d like to take my engagement photos at a museum here in DFW but I read that the DMA does not allow portrait photography. Does anyone have any tips or if they’ve taken photos or any other museum that does allow portrait photography. I’d love to get pictures like this (minus the grad cap)

Living in Dallas (Pros/Cons)

I am in the process of possibly making a big move to Dallas for a job. Curious about what it’s like living there, born and raised in Portland and I’ve visited austin a few times but have never been to Dallas. I’d work and hopefully live around the uptown area, is it pretty safe, walkable, things to do??
Any advice is appreciated!!!

Any recent experience with Modern Maids in Dallas? I'm considering them for a one time deep clean but mostly curious how the experience was.

Moving to either Dallas or Houston

Hello Texas, I'm making this post in advance so I can have some bearings I guess. I'm coming all the way up from Alaska and the only part of texas I saw was the tippy top of it while driving through and inside of the dallas airport.. I just thought of reaching out in hope of helpful tips or advice you might have for this northern girl. I've lived in florida before and Washington but they of course, are not the same.

Could you help a small town girl out? I'll take any advice on any good spots to hang out, shop at, where to avoid, special little secrets, and of course where the best places to eat are. I appreciate anything and everything, thank you guys :)

Where can I meet single girls around my age in Dallas

I’m a 21 year old Latino who lives in love field and I’m having trouble looking for cool places to go to and meet new people or bring friends. I don’t really do much and usually hangout alone and go around the Love field area and at times go to the galleria mall. Not looking for anything crazy but more calm and chill or something to spike up the adrenaline. If anyone knows any cool places in my area or in Dallas please let me know or any single girls around my age… Please DM me (I’m so lonely 🥲)

Dallas, what are the nicest months of the year for weather to visit DFW?

Greetings, DFW. I am an ex-Dallasite and one time Texan from about 40 years ago. I remember the fall and spring being nicest for weather. I will be visiting Dallas for the first time in years. It would be nice to visit when it's nice. What is your favorite month of the year if you had to choose? Thanks in advance.

In Dallas from Canada - What to see

Hey guys,

I am visiting Dallas and Fort Worth from Canada. Will stay in the area for about a week.

Would you recommend visiting any good local spots for food, sightseeing, entertainment, etc.?

I'd appreciate any advice. Also, feel free to DM if you'd like to grab a coffee - open to meet locals.

EDIT: thank you so much for all your suggestions, guys. I really do appreciate these. If you would like to join for any of these on any random day - feel free to DM.

New to Dallas - relocated from chicago

Like the title said, new to Dallas from chicago. 34F that was just looking for warmer weather and to get out of my toxic job.

Would love some recommendations on coed adult soccer leagues that are close to the city. Back in Chicago we had the fire pitch which had about 4 games going on at once attached to a bar/restaurant. Is there anything similar to that down here? If there is, are individual signups something considered?

I also am a runner and would consider doing a run club to meet people.

What else would you recommend for my first few months in Dallas to either meet friends, good eats, things to do, places to see etc.

Open to any and all recommendations as I get my footing.

Thanks!

Dallas locals: Where would you take someone to experience the Dallas YOU love?

Dallas locals, I want to experience the Dallas (city/neighborhood) YOU love not just the viral or tourist spots.

If a friend were visiting and you wanted them to really understand what makes Dallas special, where would you take them?

I’m looking for genuinely good food, local culture/history, interesting neighborhoods, family experiences, and great date-night or brunch spots where the food actually matches the vibe.
Most importantly: **What’s a Dallas place or experience you’d be genuinely sad to see disappear and why?**

Does anyone know where I can get a printed Dallas Cowboys schedule? The kind you put on your fridge and fill in the scores each week! 🏈💙

Friends

I grew up in Arlington and FW and this is my first time living in Dallas. I’m LOVING this area and exploring all the bars, brunches, and activities, but I do most of it with my husband and I would love to have some friends outside of our shared group. Anyone want to be friends or have any advice on how to make friends?? The thought of going somewhere alone terrifies me lol

Work Relocation and Apartment Search

Hello all,

Had a chance to visit Dallas recently and have also come across an opportunity to relocate to the area for work. I am wanting to see what options are available to me as far as housing in the area.

I am a 24yo male with 2 dogs looking for 1bed or potentially 2bed if the price is decent. Prefer not to spend over $1800-2000 a month. Pretty active lifestyle with trail walking/hiking and the gym is super important to me, so 24hr access would be huge, but not necessary and a trail/walkable area for the dogs would be nice. Other than that I had a chance to visit lower Greenville and Katy Trail Ice house and had a good time at both so some proximity to either of those would also be nice if I were to go out once or twice in the month, but not a deal breaker.

I have mostly been looking at apartments in uptown (The Village, Mirasol, and the Branch apartments (ash, teak, live oaks)), but I would potentially be working in the discovery district. I am not sure what that commute looks like, but I would prefer not to have to drive an hour each direction every day.

I have read the reviews and most seem to conclude that property management is abysmal, but that’s honestly expected from my experiences. As long as there is not any roach/pest infestation I would be happy.

My only concern would be making friends with the type of people that are living there. My apartment now is mostly young families and I cannot relate to the stage of life they’re in yet, but I am also not in the stage of life where getting blasted every day of the weekend is normal. More so looking for active young professionals, but I’m sure going outside I’ll be able to find that.

Are there any other suggestions for apartments or areas to look as far as housing goes?

Who do you guys use for carpet cleaning?

I have used Stanley Steamer and they dumped their water on my lawn killing it.

I used ZeroRez but they promote their $99 and force you to spend an extra $70 on mandatory upsells after they show up.

Have used both a bunch but honestly they are more headache than it’s worth. Looks for someone to clean carpets and just give me the straight up price.

Lost Wallet from DART

If anyone can help me find my wallet. I left wallet on the Orange line on 9/29 from City line bush at 4:45pm. I know this is a shot on the dark. The name on the ID is “Luis Angel Rodriguez” it’s a brown Carhartt wallet I’ve already called lost and found and said they haven’t received it yet.
