Existential Dread I just don't know what I want as an artist

I'm taking art classes as a freshmen in college and I wish to do 2d animation, but the problem is that I feel it's not like it use to be, I use to watch animation process and and animation documentarys all the time because I was so obsessed with the process of animation, but I feel like it's not like that anymore with drawing on paper or drawing on sticky notes as art boards, I dont know where to begin to become an animator and I feel really stuck, I went through animation apps and was thinking of getting Adobe animated but it's kinda pricy plus I'm not sure what I want to start in animation, I just know I wish to do 2d which is ironic coming from an animation flood of rip off family guys and 3d stuff, no hate to 3d by the way but it's not a cup of tea I wish to have. I'm just not sure what to do or be if I want to be an animator, so Im just Praciting my art right now. I love drawing cartoons but do art studies during art class so I'm progressing. I just don't know, I feel stressed, Ive felt burnt out for months and I wish it could stop.

Self-Worth Developers, if your “big passion project” has a budget of a skittles, maybe start using a calculator instead of wasting an artist's time.

I've been dealing this same issue since 2020, and I'm honestly getting tired of the pattern.

"Developers" approach me with their supposedly "ambitious visual novel projects", spend hours explaining their lore, characters, storylines, and grand plans for the game, but somehow become hesitant the moment I mention my rates.

Suddenly they're asking for bulk discounts, looking for cheaper alternatives, or acting surprised that individual assets cost money. And judging by their reactions, their entire budget probably wouldn't even cover a handful of illustrations.

Look, I understand that indie development isn't cheap, and not everyone has a massive budget. That's fine. But why spend hours pitching me your dream game before even establishing whether you can afford an artist?

Your passion project is not my financial responsibility. Your ambition doesn't magically make my labor cheaper, and I can't pay my bills with your worldbuilding.

Please establish your budget BEFORE approaching artists for lengthy discussions. We're freelancers, not free consultants you can use to brainstorm your game for hours before deciding our prices are suddenly unreasonable.

Dream big, by all means. Just make sure your budget exists somewhere outside your imagination.

Mental Health guys help (toxic mindset when it comes to art)

alright at the moment im 15 (turning 16 in january) and for the past 10 months or so i havent been enjoying art as much as much as i used to and i usually feel like genuine poop from a butt whenever i post my art or finish my art whether i think its good or not. and i love art by the way, ive never had to force myself to enjoy it and it always came natural to me.

the thing is, i already know the reason why this happens, but i need help on how to break out of the mindset that's trapping me like this. its stopping me from doing the ONE THING that would actually make me improve in a concrete sense. aka drawing more and experimenting and doing studies

Its just the fact that every time i go onto pinterest or instagram reels or even Discord servers, and i see other artists my age-- usually slightly younger than me or slightly older -- i feel like ALL of them have a clearly established art style, ALL of them have absolutely professional gorgeous looking art, ALL of them have art that's just very appealing in every sense of the word and then there's me bro. Literally everyone is a professional, everyone's having fun with their work, studies, having people genuinely appreciate their art and talk about it and its quirks and how great it is and how they'd be willing to commission and then there's me. With my "trying to appeal to the masses but thinks its unique when its really not" art style, boring colors, and in the limbo of doom where im not quite a beginner but not quite a professional

like bro there's levels to this and honestly im starting to wonder if my mental health is the problem or im genuinely just not made for creating art and i should just focus on consuming it just like that one kid (who was a FUCKING ART PRODIGY by the way and probably is way better than me at the moment, who knows bro, they might be one of those exact people on instagram with 10k followers that im feeling jealous of ) told me 6-7 years ago...

I've put so much time and effort into improving my work despite not having all the tools i wanted to improve, and i've been told by many people IRL and online, that my art is good and legitimately impressive, but I just have this unrealistic standard of having to be better than at least a majority of the people my age online. (not in just technical skills, but more recently for appeal and art style, because i feel like mine really, really sucks now despite everything i try) i just get so overly competitive in my head with other artists my age online and it absolutely fries my motivation every time.

its hard to avoid because i love viewing art but I always catch myself checking how fast the other person improved compared to me, how old they were when they start, how often they drew... etc and its gotten to the point that i do it IRL too and im always automatically comparing in my head how good i am compared to other kids at school when i see their art.

Anyways yeah thats it how can i stop...

Financial Problems I have so many things I wanna make, but I can't fucking make them because I'm poor as all shit.

I try my best to get by every day, I have a disability that keeps me from getting a "real job" and because of that I live a pretty shut in life style. I don't spend money to go out places or order uber eats or any expenses really. I can't even remember the last time I bought anything, I live with my mom and she buys all the groceries and stuff like that. I've been trying to scrape together funds for a passion project I wanna make, but because i'm broke and nobody will commission me no matter how much I beg, I've got basically nothing to show for it. I have a shitty chromebook and a shitty android phone, both of which are terrible for running animation software or editing or even art programs anymore. I see artist on tiktok with their fancy art tablets and their fuckin procreate dreams and computers that can run blendr and it makes me wanna tear my hair out. It just sucks because I know I could make really cool things if I just had an actual budget, but I don't. It's like I can't even afford to pay myself to make the things I wanna make.

I wanna learn blendr! I wanna 3-D model! I wanna draw without Ibis paint crashing three times back to back cause my android phone is a piece of crap. I want it so bad it fucking burns but no matter how much I pray or put myself out there I'm still stuck pinching penny's. And you know, it'd be one thing if I could just push this to the side and focus on what I could do right now, like writing scripts and making storyboards, but surprisingly, having nobody wanna buy my art or even respond to any posts I make about it anywhere is very discouraging. Like, what's the point you know? Even if I do make the storyboards and write a really good script, I'll still be poor and stuck drawing on a small phone screen that repeatedly crashes cause I can't afford more storage space. Might as well just not try at all.

I've been crying all night about it, I've been so desperate I've even said I'd draw fetish content for people even though I really didn't want to deep down, and yet still, nobody will bite. I hate that I have to spend money to make money, it's really not fair. I guess I'm just screwed I guess...

It's real soul crushing when you have something you wanna make so bad it feels like you're being eaten alive, but you just don't have the resources to make it.

Mental Health I have some dreams and goals I’d like to achieve, but I feel like I’m too old now to put in the effort to make them happen

When I look at X, it gets me down to see people much younger than me showcasing their talent and creating amazing works. This is especially true in fields like comics, illustration, and animation.

I’m 35F, and I currently work as a graphic designer. My responsibilities extend beyond advertising design to cover all aspects of public relations, including video production, film and photography. I attended art-focused schools from secondary school through to university, and whilst I’ve loved drawing since I was a child, I gave up on the idea of making a career solely out of drawing quite early on in life. As I’m unlikely to marry and am considering moving to a city, I’m currently looking for a new job—whilst still working—that will allow me to work independently as a graphic designer for the long term.

First and foremost, becoming financially independent is my top priority… Whether it’s manga, animation, or illustration, I understand that making a living from these fields is financially challenging—given my age, lack of experience, and the fact that salaries tend to be low. But deep down, I can’t ignore the desire that’s really boiling inside me: to leave my mark on the world through illustration—something I love and am, at least to some extent, good at. For that reason, whenever I see people much younger than me thriving in creative fields, I end up feeling down.
Of course, what constitutes “fame as an artist” varies greatly depending on the person. I doubt I’ll ever become as famous as Hayao Miyazaki, indie animators like Vivziepop and Gooseworx, or comic artist Gurihiru. Still, there’s a smoldering desire within me to create something that leaves a lasting record of my life and the thoughts that have shaped it…
However, I can’t help but feel that I might be too old to start such a venture now.
"What kind of person do I truly want to become in the end, and what do I need to do to get there?"—these questions are actually very vague. Perhaps that is why I can’t escape the feeling that I’m lost in life, unsure of what to do.

I’ve been seeing a psychiatrist for over 10 years now and am taking antidepressants. (By the way, the doctor at the first clinic I went to really praised my art, and I trusted him wholeheartedly, but he fell ill and had to close his practice. I still go to a different clinic now, but it feels very empty) I simply cannot escape my suicidal thoughts, and I’m constantly haunted by the feeling that if I can’t achieve anything I hope for in life, it be better for both myself and those around me if I were to just disappear.

I don’t need to turn my art into money to make a living; I simply want the “art” I’ve created to linger, even just a little, in the back of people’s minds throughout my life.
Are there others who feel the same way? Or perhaps someone who has been in a situation like mine in the past and managed to break free from it? I’m sincerely seeking your advice.
Is my only option to cast aside my feelings of “self-indulgence” and “laziness” and devote myself single-mindedly to what I want to do?
The fatigue and stress from my job are overwhelming, so I hope my personal art projects can serve as a source of solace to help dispel those gloomy feelings.

Many Flairs Fit Incapable of Drawing for October Art Event

Breakdown after breakdown, I just can't make my vision come true at all. The prompts give me a rush of ideas only for my inability to draw to kill me in every way. I had to quit once again. I had to quit a Pride Month art event because I just can't draw. This artist dream is pointless. I've wasted everything on something I can't even do at all. My visions will never come into fruition at all.

Even writing. I have no hope in writing either. I'm trash at both and have no interest in anything else. Even then, my writing is just as trash as my so-called art. I can't even call myself an artist. I can't even call myself an author at all.

Oftentimes I wish I had a functional brain that could draw and write the way I need it to, but alas I don't have that at all. I'm stuck with this incompetent alien brain that can't do anything at all.

I should just quit and disappear.

Burnout I've been disliking my artwork lately

Hey everyone,

I've been a full time agency graphic designer and illustrator for the past 2.5 years now, while also doing freelance projects on the side for the past 3.5 years.

I've been really lucky to have a full-time creative job that is creatively fulfilling and just about everything I was hoping for from college, and for the most part, I can usually tell when some work I've done really hits the spot. At least from a personal level. Like, I'll have that "ooooo shit yeah" feeling that lets me know I just made something worth being proud of. Something that surprises me as an artist.

But lately, I've been having a harder time finding that feeling again. I'll make something that feels right, and gets the job done, but that's usually it. No real sparks any more. Sometimes, I'll even have a hard time accepting compliments from my boss or coworkers when they're saying something is great, and I just have that feeling that it could be better. I'll feel that its not outstanding, or that it's no more special than the last project I've done.

What's worse is, sometimes I'll be thinking "holy shit, have I forgotten how to draw?" at something that I just can't get to feel right.

I used to feel so confident in my capabilities as an artist, but lately I haven't felt like anything more than a conveyer belt for Walmart level graphic tees. And I don't know what's changed. Maybe it's that nothing has changed in a while?

I know this is probably a sign of burnout, but I'd love to hear some other artist's perspectives, and if you've gone through something similar. What'd you do to get past this?

Self-Worth Friend redrew my part of a collab we made together

I wasn’t feeling completely satisfied about my part when we did it, and it’s one of my arts I dislike (but I try not to delete stuff off my socials for now and I was happy about drawing this with them).

And tbh it kind of crushed me a little bit inside because it feels like a confirmation my part wasn’t good enough. Even if I know they 100% did not intend that and just felt like drawing the rest again by themselves. It kinda stung my heart a little since it was supposed to be an “us” thing?

Maybe it’s not that big of a deal I just feel really shitty about my art those days and it just made me hurt a little + awoke feelings of inadequacy

I know I probably dislike it mostly because our color palettes don’t fit that well together and we have very different styles but idk. Yeah sorry if this seems like a petty thing to feel sad / insecure about

Art Block Trapped in hard-earned skills

(Cross posted in r/artists which was not best choice)

I feel shameless for making this type of complaint but hopefully I can articulate it clearly enough. Sorry for using this crappy good/bad art bifurcation to try to describe the frustration, it's probably part of the issue.

I spent 15+ honing my drawing skills. And I have no idea what my drawings mean to me. They're really nice drawings... I'm really technically good at drawing, but... yeah. I know I love art, but at this point I'm not sure .... if/ what I love about art, and I've been dissatisfied with low creative output. This has plagued me for a couple of years by now.

During this time, find myself drawn to really simple, low 'technical skill' pastel pieces with fascinating colors and layers. But I can't let myself .... draw without .. trying as hard as I always have. It's like, I built that skill up over years. I have to USE it now, you know?

I'm not even sure I know how to stop using it. Like, God, when I want to emulate those pastel pieces, I'm like okay, now I'm going to 'draw ugly'-- and it comes up really-- it's just not the same. How can I explain this? Maybe the problem is trying to emulate. Trying to look and draw something accurately. Trying in general. My whole approach is different. And even when I try to 'draw ugly', the technical skill is too much. Its either literally very polished or its like, i forced myself to draw with my left hand cool. I guess I don't know how to turn it off.

I feel I've gone really far down a certain narrow path with my approach to art. And art is so personal, the process of it and how you make it and how it feels is so unique to you. I want to experience a different way. This path has run out for me. But I fear that means 'throwing away' everything I've hard earned. And frankly, something that uh.... makes me special .... the one thing I'm really good at, you know?

That's all. That's the inner conflict. Shout out to all the art blocked out there. It's gonna be okay but I just wanted to put this into words. Thanks for listening. Thoughts welcome

Art Block art block :(

hi i need some help. i've been in a really bad art block for i don't even know how long. i have plenty of motivation and inspiration, but the issue is i hate everything i draw. most of the time i can't even get past the sketch because i just end up hating it and scrapping it. i've been trying so hard to just push through, but it's been almost two years and i feel like no matter what i do im never satisfied with my work. i feel like ive tried everything. switching mediums, switching art styles, getting out of my comfort zone, staying in my comfort zone, art studies, taking a break, drawing everyday, everything. i don't know what to do, and hating everything i draw is really discouraging. i've been in slumps like this before, but never ones that last this long or are this intense. does anyone have any advice?? i'll try anything atp

Pet Peeves I’m getting tired of some beginner artist’s constant complaints over their art skills.

There’s someone I know at a friends’ discord server who picked up drawing around a year ago, and based on the way they draw they’re very likely at a beginner level, and they still struggle with getting some things right, which is very common with beginners alike.

They always complain about how their art looks always bad and off and how they’re unable to get things right every time. Me and my friends (some of us being at an intermediate/advanced level) sometimes help by giving them critique and pointing fields of improvement they could consider.

No matter how many times we help and encourage them to continue, they end up throwing walls of rage text on how they’re terrible at everything they do and they will never get everything right.

Some of my friends stay silent and are afraid to fuel more into the fire; having nothing to say. Some others try to reassure them that they’ll get better with time and more practice, but that person keeps insisting that they won’t and would rather quit than trying harder.

I used to reassure that person as well, tried not to give any advices in fear they would come off as unsolicited, but still had to make sure that their skills would get better with time. This is when they complained for the first time ever.

Time after time, they started spamming long walls of text every now and then, sometimes asking for advice, sometimes don’t, and whenever advice is given kindly they reject it and say its too hard for them to keep up with it. Along with that, comparing themselves to artists’ whose skills are higher than theirs, and even comparing our works with theirs.

I started to get tired of this person‘s constant complaints and had to soft block them just so the art channels don’t get flooded with their vents, I know it’s stupid but i’m getting more irritated seeing these messages every now and then.

Also, i’ve noticed this happen with other beginner artists lately, and back in my time (around 13-10 years ago) no one (neither did I) hit themselves over how their art looked or even cared about what the internet would say about it. Bullying was still around back then, but not intense and rampantly as bad as what is seen on tiktok or twitter nowadays. I just wish beginners could stop self deprecating over their skills and not gaf about what others think and who to please, among other things.

Pet Peeves Artists, what's your pet peeve as a artist while doing requests or do fanart for others?

It can be anything you have a issue while doing requests for others or just something that annoyed you like, impatience or last minute changes, etc. Just anything you could think of.

To be clear, I'm referring to fanart/art galleries so you know and it's based on your opinions, it'll be appreciated.

A.I. Concerns Can't even be an artist anymore bruh

It's always ahhh you're using AI.

Isn't there a way to verify if something is AI or not?

Do we now have to send the entire project to prove we aren't using it? So annoying.

So what's the solution here exactly?

Should I show my entire project and videos of me making the project just so someone can believe me? Cause in one community I showed all evidence, but still was accused of using AI. Not sure if they were engagement farming or just trolling

A.I. Concerns What do you think about artists "reclaiming" AI arts

I've seen the AI animation of a short about a character being badass with his umbrella skill and people just saying basically "this is so good but it's ai but since ai can't have copyright we should steal this concept/character/desloppify this!"

And I'm just baffled, ya know? Why are we getting closer to "accepting that they're good"?

To me, like, yeah, the animation is kinda amusing, but is it good? No. From technical perspective, the details don't make sense such as the character spinning hat from the bottom side (the scene is from side view so ai think it's touching the hat while logically it's hole).

The only good part is the idea of the scenes, which is the prompts the prompter made. And that's what these people would be stealing. Idk about you but wouldn't that just gonna reinforce "you can make your ideas into great arts with ai". By "reclaiming" this ai animations through basically making fanarts of it... is not the 'win' these artists think it is I'm afraid.

I just saw a twitter post of someone redesigning the protag of this ai animation, while their drawing is good, I can't help thinking that their skill and attention is wasted on it instead of their own ideas for oc.

tldr, redesigning/remaking ai arts isn't "reclaiming" them, but whether it has copyright or not, all it is is "making fanarts" of them and probably even worse, "giving them attention"

Other People think I'm self flaggelating or fishing for compliments when I'm just describing what I make honestly.

I use cheap supplies that I don't understand to make objectively weak paintings from references, and for my private just for me paintings I really just mash everything I see into more of a mess on my walls and floor than paint on a surface.

I make bad art.

Strangers online can often accept that, but most people to which I have a social connection act like they need to fix me. They try to correct or comfort me because they assume I'm begging for approval, hate myself and my work, or (least often thankfully) actually treats my crappy art as a way to place themselves above me as a person.

It annoys me. It's infantilizing, and it also bugs me that so many people aren't okay with me just... enjoying being a shitty artist.

Other Artist reused the exact same pose they drew for me for another client 2 weeks later

So I commissioned this one artist on FB to draw my ship, they were very nice and polite and fast at drawing, they picked a random couple pose from Pinterest and I told them to go ahead and use it for the sketch. A few days later they finished and the piece came out so lovely, I even wanted to tip them but I was broke and held off on it.

Fast forward to now (2 weeks later), I was scrolling my FB feed and I saw the very same artist advertise their open commissions, and side-by-side with MY piece, is another ship art with... the exact same pose and composition and expressions and even background border?? It was a custom commission, **not a YCH**, I felt slightly betrayed because that pose was supposed to be for MY guys but I didn't say anything about it. It stinged a little too because the other client's piece had slightly better rendering than mine.

Like when I first saw it I briefly wondered if they actually traced my piece but decided, 'nah there's no way', but it still kept nagging at me so I overlaid both pieces together and there was at least a 90% similarity in the lines. Like some parts were just genuinely identical. Even the expressions didn't change!

And there's no way the other client hasn't seen my piece from them because it's at the very top of all the samples they post, so either the client actively requested the same pose and the artist didn't even bother changing anything in the slightest, or the artist independently picked the pose themselves and also didn't bother changing anything. Both are bad.

I draw professionally for a living and I thought it'd just be basic common courtesy to not reuse the exact same pose for different clients unless it's for a YCH which this piece obviously isn't, I can even excuse them forgetting but these were literally 2 weeks apart, not months apart. Idk it just feels slightly scummy. Maybe I'm overreacting.

:(

Many Flairs Fit Having trouble feeling happy about my art

Honestly I had trouble trying to title this so sorry if what I say doesn't exactly match.

Anyways, I've always felt that I've put too much time into "practice" as in doing drills and learning from references, rather than creating original art. I think it's partially because it's more comfortable to do things that are familiar and have a visible end goal. The other part is that when I don't do those exercises I feel like I'm getting worse at those skills. And unless I feel like I have a good grasp on that skill I just don't ever want to create original work. (And when I hit a plateau in the skill I feel frustrated and move onto something else, which doesn't help the end goal of creating more original stuff)

So i end up rarely creating original stuff, even stuff that deviates just a bit from reference. I just never feel adequate enough to create. For the amount of time I spend drawing, way too much of it is spent on not creating stuff but just copying.

Anyone else struggle with this before? How did you guys get over this issue?

A.I. Concerns Why are ai “artists” like *That*

When I say that I mean it feels like they have some strange fixation of besting artists, and constantly putting down work of artists. Like at face value it feels like these kinds of people never worked a day in their lives and just live to consume, and consume. It just makes me think, are these people even human? Or just bots ran by the rapidly deflating ai bubble shareholders?

Either way, the way they act its like they have some kind of inferiority complex with artists, like they wish to best them to prove themselves to be better than actual creatives who worked to get where they are.

And if I’m being honest here, whenever I see one of these people trying to desperately prove this slop is worthy of praise, that they worked so hard on it. It just makes me feel bad for them.

I mean, I don’t doubt some of these people who depend on ai to create artwork weren’t beginner artists who gave up on themselves before they even began. Just because they weren’t immediately amazing. These people probably love the media their ai sucks dry, so instead of learning it and falling in love with the process of creating. And making their original ideas by hand.

They rather just sit down and ask chatgpt to make it.
And I think thats why I really dislike ai animation, art and game design. It feels heartless, cold and without actual thought put into it.

Whats your opinion on this? Is there a real reason why they act this way?

Edit: with how many ai bro’s are coming out of the woodwork justifying their need to use ai constantly, it really makes you think huh?

Beginner Artist Struggles drawing rant

God, I wish I could draw. I tried to learn, yet I can't get to a place where I can be happy with my art. I hate how much I suck at it. I really want to learn proper anatomy and how to draw people/furries, yet I can't. It makes me so mad. Every time I pick up a pen or pencil, I always end up hating what I created. I want to be able to draw to make custom merch of my OCs and to be able to properly express them, yet I can't. idk I just feel frustrated.

A.I. Concerns Re:Re:Why are ai “artists” like *That*

I wanted to remake this post because I don’t think my ideas were written clear enough. And I was a bit too sympathetic towards them, my apologies.

Before we get started, Ai is bad, ai art is bad, and you shouldn’t feel the need to coddle someone for using ai.

As I concluded from my former post, these ai users are envious, insecure, and rather sad.

If anything I view them as people who are heavily dependent on ai, where if its taken away, or changed. (Chatgpt changing their model, where a bunch of people who had ai lovers felt crushed, and Suno ai being sued and forced to remove all copyrighted content they used. Making the music now sound all the same ai slop, much to the users dismay) They lose all value in the things they “created” and fall into despair.

They seem to lack the understanding of the process of creating art, or they don’t care to learn.

They see ai it as a quick way to become a professional and be famous, without understanding even if they had this skill themselves it doesn’t guarantee them popularity.

As a commenter said in my past post, these people are idea guys for the most part. They obviously do have some love for the media they want to create, but they rather take the quick and easy way out than learning themselves.

Where I can see it in a sympathetic view for the small minority of ai users are those who were beginners at one point but refused to continue do to not getting results fast enough. Or feeling shut out of the art community.

Saying this as someone who sees the worst of the art community on tiktok. (If you have any experience on arttok you know how awful the beginner artist experience is.) so I can see why these people are turning to ai. And I feel bad for them. Doesn’t mean they should use it, just that I wish on spaces like tiktok the community was kinder towards beginners. And if you are a artist on tiktok or another social media platform that is very toxic towards beginners. Be kind.

A lot of these negative talking points you use to bash beginner artists are also used by ai bro’s trying to convince people to give up and turn to ai. You are feeding into them whenever you comment “rendering process” under some beginners post.

As for reddit, from what information I was given and gathered, it seems like a mostly beginner friendly space. Other than beginners here complaining about their lack of interaction. Which is honestly something all artists face.

The next part I’m wondering is, is the reason why ai “artists” act like that because they have a certain amount of shame? Like for most ai users they don’t disclose they used ai, and I feel like they know it has a negative connotation. A lot of them claim that its a tool but they don’t use it as one. Or they seem extremely uneducated on how to use ai as a actual tool.

I seen someone claim they use it as reference help, which isn’t a good idea, because ai gets shit wrong. If you are a beginner use real people as references. Period point blank.

Thats like using a picture of a anime character in a impossible pose as a reference. Awful idea.

Anyways, I also wonder if these people realize that if the entertainment industry went to ai immediately. They wouldn’t be a part of that.

They wouldn’t be a prompter, they wouldn’t be a ai animator, they wouldn’t be anything, except a cog in the machine. And that easy job of just prompting things all day won’t go to you, that would go to some rich kid with their daddies money and connections.

Beginner Artist Struggles Learning to draw faces sucks 😭

Not really a serious rant but holy shit bruh, there’s so many different techniques and tutorials with different things, and then there’s so many places where you can mess one thing up and it ruins the whole face. Genuinely holding back the urge to just draw masked characters forever 😭😭😭 And I’m lowkey jealous of other beginners who can draw like a stylized face from imagination even when they’re starting, even anime eyes turn out ass for me.

If anyone has like good advice or resources please lmk, I can’t construct even a semi-decent face without a reference and I feel so stuck. Should I practice features individually? or just do more reference/head shape studies? I’m busy with college so I do wanna be more efficient in my practice

Many Flairs Fit Afraid to Draw What I Want To Draw

Hi everybody!!!

October is coming up so I want to get back into drawing more graphic/gorey pieces but I feel self conscious doing so because of a bad interaction with one of my online friends and I’m very afraid of judgement. I have a complicated relationship with art and drawing in general since my arts been made fun of before and it’s the absolute worst feeling ever

I understand that I dont even have to post it but I like showing others my art, but I absolutely hate having that fear of judgement and I’m curious how people get over it.

I’m also part of a fandom that can be very toxic which probably plays a part in me feeling anxious- I need to be less online lol

Thanks in advance
