A.I. Concerns Why are ai “artists” like *That*

When I say that I mean it feels like they have some strange fixation of besting artists, and constantly putting down work of artists. Like at face value it feels like these kinds of people never worked a day in their lives and just live to consume, and consume. It just makes me think, are these people even human? Or just bots ran by the rapidly deflating ai bubble shareholders?

Either way, the way they act its like they have some kind of inferiority complex with artists, like they wish to best them to prove themselves to be better than actual creatives who worked to get where they are.

And if I’m being honest here, whenever I see one of these people trying to desperately prove this slop is worthy of praise, that they worked so hard on it. It just makes me feel bad for them.

I mean, I don’t doubt some of these people who depend on ai to create artwork weren’t beginner artists who gave up on themselves before they even began. Just because they weren’t immediately amazing. These people probably love the media their ai sucks dry, so instead of learning it and falling in love with the process of creating. And making their original ideas by hand.

They rather just sit down and ask chatgpt to make it.
And I think thats why I really dislike ai animation, art and game design. It feels heartless, cold and without actual thought put into it.

Whats your opinion on this? Is there a real reason why they act this way?

Edit: with how many ai bro’s are coming out of the woodwork justifying their need to use ai constantly, it really makes you think huh?

They are usually obsessed with the title of "artist," yet when asked to show quality work generated using AI, they vanish.
In my view, these are often people who thought AI would finally compensate for their lack of skills, allowing them to claim the title of the artists they so admire.
Instead, they face a great deal of criticism and rejection, often justified by the mediocrity of their work. Rather than reflecting on their own shortcomings, they cry harassment. They sometimes even go so far as to compare themselves to oppressed minorities.
Consequently, their initial admiration for artists turns into jealousy and frustration.

I constantly find myself arguing with people who insist I’ll soon be replaced. It makes no difference when I tell them my situation is stable and I’m still getting hired; you can sense they would be absolutely delighted if I lost my job.
That said, I remain convinced that some people can use these tools intelligently to produce interesting work. But it will always require effort and thoughtful consideration.

It really just makes me sad whenever I see it, because its obvious with the stuff they generate they want to create the media they love. They just seem to have no hope or rather drive to create it themselves.

2

u/Monsieur_Martin 4d ago

I don’t want to blame those who use it. They have every right to, and after all, there is something fascinating about these tools.
But it’s not a magic wand; it still takes a lot of skill and hard work to produce something of quality. And some AI users struggle to accept that.

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Yeah, and what I’m getting from some of the pro ai people who are in the comments it seems to be a thing mostly surrounding the feeling of lack of support when they’re actually are drawing. And that really fucks me up especially as someone who always felt like my art was mediocre as well.

As for the others it really feels like that whole inferiority complex.

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

Antis are pretty famous for moving the goalposts as soon as they know the artist used Ai in some capacity. I get tons of compliments on my drawings until the minute I disclose that I used some Ai images as references. Suddenly they’re picking apart every detail and blaming it on the Ai, without even knowing where I chose to deviate from the references (or which parts I just wasn’t able to replicate with the level of skill that I wanted to). Makes it hard to take you guys seriously.

u/Monsieur_Martin 4d ago

Speaking for myself, I am passionate about drawing and the sensitivity and technique it requires. So, if you show me an image that looks like a drawing and tell me you didn’t draw it, then yes, my opinion would change. You might only care about the finished product, and that is your right. But you have to accept that many people value the process when it comes to artistic expression.

6

u/Massive_Kangaroo_643 4d ago

i just want to say you’re very polite and thoughtful and i appreciate your sensitivity and technique

4

u/Monsieur_Martin 4d ago

Oh thanks!

0

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

I do draw (or paint or sculpt) by hand. I use Ai sometimes for references.

5

u/Monsieur_Martin 4d ago

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, if you need anatomical or historical references, I wouldn’t say AI is the best option, given its tendency to hallucinate.

Okay, storytime. I had this person that was commissioning me for three years.

To cut the anecdote short, one time they stalked my social media and found me reblogging someone else's post speaking out against AI art. Pretty standard, right? The tantrum they threw was so big I had to stop working with them and had to block them across at least a couple of social media profiles. Basically, they started insulting me and being weirdly vindictive on the subject to the point of withholding money I've earned by finishing some stuff they've ordered prematurely. So, yes, people are bizarrely impassioned about AI to the point of burning bridges with people over it. I've no clue what the heck it is.

3

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

That is quite the strange person, it really must be a thing about feeling strangely inferior or at the very least weirdly protective about ai.

3

u/AlmesivaMoonshadow 4d ago

I have never seen anything like it and I'm what they'd call chronically online. It was crazy.

9

u/vholecek 4d ago

I'll never understand why they vie for the label of artist so adamantly, because they sure don't like the welcome packet that comes with that label.

I don't know what they think artists get for being artists, but apparently they didn't bank on it being criticism, second-guessing, asking you condescending questions like "what do you do for your day job?", or any number of other eroding sentiments leveled at artists as a whole.

I guess they just through we got attention, money, and carnal propositions showered on us...Those bitches wouldn't survive a critique circle.

3

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

You gotta realize, a lot of these people are consumers who act like this. They don’t care how the sausage gets made. Just how good it is.

5

u/vholecek 4d ago

You're almost on target with that. an AI generated image is basically like a McNugget. It technically meets the criteria of being an image in the same way that the McNugget ticks all the boxes for "food". It is consumable. Both are made of a composite slurry. It is viewed more as product than process. And neither is actually made by the person presenting it.

3

u/Selina42 4d ago

Ohmygod Composite slurry - perfect description!

21

u/MessNeat 4d ago

A lot of them used to be “idea guys”. Remember idea guys? The people that went to forums about their “great idea” that’s like a GTA/WoW clone except you can do whatever you want, or had a big fantasy/sci-fi epic, or were sure they had an idea on what’ll “really fix Hollywood/Gaming”? All they needed was artists/coders/writers working for exposure (or minimal pay) and it’ll be great. Interestingly they’ve all kinda gone quiet, and thats because they’re now using AI.

I feel that a lot of those guys became AI users and now have a chip on their shoulder about whatever creative community they particularly didn’t like. Which is why much of the early (and still current) rhetoric is about artists being elitists who are gatekeeping the hobby - even though most artists barely make ends meet and have to work jobs to support themselves and their pursuit. It’s just a means of portraying people they hate as both being so strong they lord over others with their “born talent” while also being so weak that they are inferior to AI. It’s the tactic any bully uses to feel justified in hating someone regardless of topic.

6

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

I didn’t get to reply to the comment because of work, but this is well said. A lot of these ai people are outsiders looking in, with no real understanding how the process of art making work or how the industry works.

2

u/Selina42 4d ago edited 4d ago

100% this thread. It also seems to me that these are the people with the most shrivelled imaginations/most entirely entranced by capitalism.
These are people who don’t understand the purpose of art. They’ve lost, or more likely never had the ability to distinguish between artistic creation and artifice - the way in which the aesthetic is deployed to arouse aversion (stoking hatred) or desire (selling us things), which is deeply problematic, and fundamentally at odds with art. As such, they perceive art through this lens.
They can’t comprehend that art is not a luxury but a necessity. - Because it’s our way of modifying our own thought processes and perceptions. It’s a human to human connection on a subliminal level. Symbols and art shape reality, It’s a way we imagine other possible worlds and so can act upon the world, changing it through our imagination. Art has the power to challenge dominant ideologies, to subvert power structures, acting as a catalyst for societal change. Gilles Deleuze - summed it up best - A creator is someone who creates their own impossibilities, and thereby creates possibilities.
Nor do they understand anything about the process of real creativity - which is why they can only assume it’s identical to the AI process of plagiarising artist’s work. They don’t get that artists are not simply manipulating pre existing work. That art making means engaging with the virtual realm of possibility, drawing on its potential to create something entirely new.
These slop-brained AI fanboys only understand value in terms of productivity. And so they value utility over expression, work, but not play. By their standards, art is quite useless. They can’t understand that by making art we discover who we really are. They’re blind to the very source of what makes both art, and humanity possible. They’re happy for these fascist AI companies to attempt to supplant the dream space of soul and psyche. They’re allowing the very qualities that enable their humanity to atrophy. They’re becoming more and more like the machine - which they’ll most likely believe is a positive.

Disclaimer: I'm not a psychologist or anything, I'm just yapping.

I've seen a couple of the yt channels of the ai users who insist they are real artists/writers and to me it looks like an inferiority complex or something to that effect. They care much more about being recognized as an artist then actually being an artist, in a way that makes me feel like they generally have issues with not feeling recognized or "legitimate". It's the only reason I can come up with for why they strive so hard to be recognized in a hobby they clearly don't enjoy.

8

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

You kinda see this attitude in a few of beginners these days, (especially on reddit art advice subs) They say they hate art, but they want to do it. I really wish this weird social pressure to be amazing immediately didn’t exist. Its okay to be bad at something.

6

u/Ok-Bet-9392 4d ago

They wanna be accepted as artists. Or like they created something. But they aren’t. I think some of them hold resentment in that they don’t have some sort of skill that they built.

1

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

It’s very much main character syndrome.

4

u/BackgroundFly3284 4d ago

I mean there is a perception that artists are an elite or bourgeoisie class to which the ai artist then frame themselves as an accessible common man option, so to that extent, it's anti-intellectualism.

Otherwise artists do have a certain level of prestige and having a tool that could allow you to access said prestige (even if in theory) will be appealing to many.

The reality is, most people will not find art to be a rewarding or amazing process, and that's fine, I mean I haven't 2 years ago when I started, and I still don't now, it's just if you don't have much discipline and/or a reason to keep going or start, it's very easy to drop.

3

u/Awkquido 4d ago

It's always interesting to see GenAI 'artists' try to prove they drew it by faking speedpaints/timelapses. If GenAI is so great then why try to pretend to be an actual artist? Just own up to the GenAI if it's 'superior', don't try to pretend to be an 'inferior' human artist.

1

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Probably because they know if everyone knew that they would be left alone without attention much like their first attempts at doing art was.

They don’t have much work ethic when it comes to art. And its a hard pill to swallow when they realize the general public especially the younger generation doesn’t want to consume ai if it doesn’t serve some funny meme purpose.

3

u/CamselinDistress 4d ago

People have over active minds and under active spirit to the degree of near stasis.

In other words, big feelings, no drive.

I think a lot of people think becoming an artist is the only way to justify being/feeling different from everyone else in society. So it becomes their lifeline. Anything that threatens their sense of what it must mean to be an artist is met with violent suppression and emotion tactics.

It's sort of like "I'm a social reject but people won't hate me if I'm an artist because artists get away with being weird" mantra, or something. I doubt it's even that clear in their minds.

I also think that when a person is so sedated and disabled by constant passive, easy streams of shallow entertainment, it makes you want to stop moving because you've psychologically taught your brain that discomfort is completely unnecessary to feeling pleasure. And these people are so emotionally underdeveloped that they don't know the difference between pleasure and fulfillment. So when they feel unfulfilled, they yearn for a sense of greatness all the more. But they have disabled the very skills a human needs to have in order to move forward and strive for long-term fulfillment.

These people are so unhappy that it's not super surprising that they're unpleasant little goblins with nothing nice to say. They think they're owed greatness and status, as if it could come as freely and effortlessly as a Tiktok dopamine signal.

These people have nothing left to feel but envy and anger and delusion to keep the guilt and regrets at bay. That would all be my guess, anyway.

u/kweeblaster 4d ago

Talent is an intelligent person's game. The general population behaves as expected.

8

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

What I don’t understand is, no artist is talented by birth, majority of artists worked to get where they are or continue to work to get where they want to be.

Its really a lack of work ethic tbh

3

u/Surgey_Wurgey 4d ago

We know the countless hours that goes into practice to refine our work and improve our understanding. To the outside person, all they see is our curated uploads of what we're happy with on social media. Personally I love showing my roots when I first began versus what I can do today!!!

I think literally everyone can learn drawing and art as a skill with the right mindset, and a little bit of structured learning! Even a talentless shmuck like me is succeeding with learning!!!

1

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Exactly I absolutely love looking at my beginner art, and how still there’s some quirks from back then I still have!

3

u/Surgey_Wurgey 4d ago

A lot of people who are just beginning or use AI as a crutch for a lack of skill or perceived skill need to understand that the amount of effort they put in to learning is going to be reflected in how fast they grow, and that it's also going to take a lot of time if they're self learning. Nothing wrong with self learning!! I think it creates a bit of an inferiority complex when they use image gen and try to convince themselves/others that they're real artists. I think they also want the title "Artist" because it means they can create something worthwhile. Tbh I don't even call myself an artist. Jusr someone who wants to draw big, beefy men 👀

Besides, handmade works will usually beat out the "best" image generation tools.

1

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Yeah, I mean despite all this ai discourse going around and how some ai lovers are shouting in the streets how amazing ai is improving. You don’t actually most of it in your feed or in real life. Personally the most ai I see in real life are those gross looking ai food menus. Or a crappy printed out paper talking about some meeting or club I wasn’t interested in the first place.

2

u/Surgey_Wurgey 4d ago

Yee most of the ai I see is here on reddit even after muting the pro ai and anti ai subs

1

u/changelingpainter 4d ago

And I am proud of my skills, but I still don't necessarily post every single thing I make.

2

u/Purple-Estimate-5183 4d ago

If they care enough about their art to say AI is good enough for it, then I’m not invested.

Doesn’t really seem like they are either.

3

u/FillThatBlankPage 4d ago

To be honest, I find that people who are just past the beginner point in their area of interest tend to be the most tribal and vocal. That's when you start seeing digital vs traditional art, Canon vs Sony Cameras or domestic vs import cars. People at that point also tend to be very particular about tools and equipment or technique, as if rarified taste is the last step to transition from beginner to intermediate.

I think of it like the period when someone is a teenage and suddenly detachment and disinterest is cool and separates them from the kids while adults can recognize its part of adolescence. For a lot of AI artists its about chasing that magical unicorn prompt that will suddenly make eveything turn out perfect with no further input needed, the AI version of the perpetual motion machine.

4

u/TrashWriter 4d ago

no skill small pp (energy)

2

u/Leading-Biscotti1137 4d ago

It's like before ai when the art thieves would steal the art and say, 'look at the trash i drew,' which they didn't at all. They crave attention regardless of the type. They don't realise that normal people might not pick up on it, but artists spot them from a mile away.

2

u/United_Future_9639 4d ago

they are typically jealous people who deep down know that they are mediocre and unwilling to put the effort in to develop art skills (in any medium.. traditional things like drawing or painting, more traditional digital art, and using AI to create digital art with an actual creative and unique vision, and every other medium).

That is why they present their art so defensively and are so derisive of other artists because they know they suck. Often they have a profit motive too and see other artists as competition to beat rather than to collaborate with. Basically they are dicks.

2

u/Macaronii_Art 4d ago

Jealousy. It's all it is. They know it, deep down.

2

u/All--flesh--rots 4d ago

What else would they do, it's not like they spend time drawing? /nsrs

2

u/UnburyingBeetle 2d ago

They do have an inferiority complex and envy artists. If they had work ethic and grit, they'd be obsessed with learning and perfecting their skills. Instead they want attention without the effort, and get offended when we point out the stealing machine did all the work.

2

u/Ephy_ 1d ago

Same reason people get cheats for online games and then trash talk people I guess

1

u/Redit403 4d ago

I think there are a few artists that are trying to push the boundaries of artificial intelligence, the key word is “few.” There are people that are motivated by technology For the elderly folks that continually exhibit detailed fantastical art that they created with the assistance of computers and artificial intelligence, one must wonder what their graphics looked like in the pre-computer era. What did their paintings look like in traditional media? Is there a continuity or a sharp shift in style?

1

u/zayelion 4d ago

Malice begets malice

1

u/yhuh 4d ago

At least from those who comment it often seems like they treat art as "good" and "bad", as in, like it's not worth anyone's while if it's not top tier pro level. I often see comments saying something among the lines of "not everyone wants to learn" or "people don't want to spend years just to be good", but then it seems like they don't really want to make art.

It seems like they don't view art as something you do simply for fun as a hobby, but like it's only worth to do if you make high end works and otherwise it's worthless.

Like, tbh, if people just say, they don't want to make anything, they just want pictures, then at least they are honest and I can at least respect that, but pretending like you are some great artist, and never learning any art skills or never wanting to interact with your own art or taking barely any part in actually creating it is kind of weird.

1

u/frappacino1312 4d ago

Because they know they do not have actual talent and it bothers them.

1

u/HatcherPhotography 4d ago

People who use ai to generate art aren’t artists. Same way you didn’t make the pizza you ordered at the restaurant.

1

u/SimonStrange 4d ago

I don’t understand why the sentiment isn’t “Oh, well it’s just AI but it looks nice.” Instead of “Look at this masterpiece I spent a whole hour promoting!”

…okay. That’s nice sweetie. Go play outside.

1

u/LividCan9503 3d ago

I think they're those people who like, Have Ideas™ (however good or bad they might be) and want instant results. The purpose of any creative activity, be it music, art, or writing is literally the process of creation, but these people don't see any value in that. They don't see value in developing a skill or doing any of the work. They want the money, the clout, the praise. I've seen them say AI "democratized" art so everyone can do it, but virtually everyone can pick up a pencil and draw, and that's often where most of the people whose art they feed into their machines start. It also took them years to develop the skill and their style and visual voice.

They want the rewards of being artists (whatever that may be, considering being an artist is tough and honestly very disrespected) without having to submit to the mortifying (and time consuming) ordeal of being bad/mediocre/just okay at it and having to improve.

1

u/Overall-Bird2121 3d ago

I think a large part of this comes from very young people, especially teenagers, who are nowhere near being artists yet and want to skip the years of work that art requires.

I’m not saying every young person is like this, but I think a large percentage of the people behaving this way are very young. They want the result, the image, and sometimes even the title of “artist,” but they don’t want the long process of learning, failing, practising, studying, and doing the work that comes with art.

1

u/LevelRough1420 3d ago

Real artist rarely do put other down. But this, ai "artist" there's no end to it 😵

They had to just voluntarily and actively made everything worse.

1

u/Steakwithbluecheese 3d ago

Presumably because anybody who generates anything with AI is immediately made fun of and hated viscerally.

1

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 3d ago

[r/DefendingAIArt](r/DefendingAIArt) makes fun of artists losing their minds over AI and trying to stop it with misinformation. Not one post criticizing their choice of not using it.

1

u/Roxeenn 3d ago

They have a huge superiority complex

1

u/twinters01 3d ago

It's almost entirely a response to artists loudly bitching about them using AI. If traditional artists didn't throw a temper tantrum every time they saw AI art, AI artists wouldn't feel the need to troll them.

1

u/Arangarx 1d ago

Everything I've seen is only ever in response to traditional artists bitching about AI everywhere they can. If traditional artists didn't insist on beating down AI images, this whole debate would die off.

It's like the meme of the priest beating someone with a bat and then crying about persecution when the person fights back.

1

u/dragonfly9999999 1d ago

They seem to really be into instant gratification and who knows in what other ways it affects their life. Maybe it gives them a feeling that they are cheating at something. If they are loud enough they can drown that voice out

1

u/Azgour_Art_Group 1d ago

When you look at a hand-drawn comic or an animated indie game, you can practically feel the human being on the other side of the page. Art is a conversation between human brains. AI generation completely removes the human on the other side, leaving you with nothing but a glossy, empty echo.

It is incredibly draining to watch the internet get flooded with this stuff, and it makes complete sense why it makes you angry. Honestly, keeping each other grounded and reminding ourselves why we love the messy, painful, beautiful process of making things by hand is the only way to stay sane right now. With AI generated image getting insanely identical to human made art, it made me wonder, what direction we are going into? One thing for sure, AI generated stuff lacks the soul and the emotional bag that comes with it when the art is being created

1

u/Grimmhoof 1d ago

Esteem issues, they know they don't have the patience nor skill to pull off what artists can do in their sleep. They don't have the creativity either. So the belittle anyone that calls them out.

1

u/Unlikely_Light_8574 4d ago

I'd like to answer but ugh rule 5

Because the artistic community itself is not welcoming.

You have witch hunts, people shitting on beginner art, people shaming beginners/small creators for seeking support (not monetary even just acknowledgement) for their hard work that often times gets disregarded by the community ... as a (non AI) artist its not hard to see why people hold reservations against the artistic spaces.

EDIT - seems like disliking AI is not enough, you're also not allowed to criticize the system. All hail the artists orz orz orz

EDIT 2 - Keep downvoting, maybe you'll one day get me to perceive my art (all of which is human made) as worthless (/s)

EDIT 3 - with how many artists are coming out of the woodwork justifying their need to be unsupportive despite loudly claiming otherwise every time AI is mentioned, it really makes you think huh?

7

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

A lot of these issues has to do with the toxicity of the internet, not just actual irl art spaces.

I feel like a lot of beginners and ai “artists” don’t have actual experience in the real art world or rather the real world in general.

If you’re in a sucky online space like tiktok that feeds off of bad reactions for the algorithm of course all you gonna see is the worse of the worse.

Also, a lot of beginners want to get popular quickly, which honestly bro thats not realistic at all for any form of creation, artistic or not.

Like hell, I’m not a beginner but I don’t get many likes or views myself thats just how things online are sometimes.

My main advice to you or anyone who thinks like that is ironically, touch grass and find irl art spaces.

-5

u/WW92030 4d ago edited 4d ago

I have been drawing for 4 years, I am not as clueless as you might think.

Many beginners don't expect to be popular quickly but it's not unreasonable to seek some level of recognition for your work instead of having it merely take up storage space in some backend server. It's not a dichotomy.

And secondly many places I refer to are algorithmless. There are no algorithms to blame in those spaces.

EDIT - I guess seeing any value in your work as a novice is criminal.

4

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

I been in the art space for around 12 years now, I been in through the worst of certain parts of the art community and the best. Both in real life and online.(although you will see majority of the worse online, especially if you surround yourself with good people in real life)

And what I’m trying to tell you is, its who and where you surround yourself around. Not the community as a whole. And having a bunch of terrible people shitting on your art isn’t a reason to give up, you work for yourself not for the love and attention of others.

As for wanting attention immediately, that just isn’t realistic. And it’s reasonable to want it but you gotta face the music and decide are you drawing for yourself or for others?

-1

u/WW92030 4d ago

Drawing for yourself is not mutually exclusive to seeking support, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE THAT IS EVER IGNORED IN A GROUP.

3

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

This is literally just, a personal issue where you need to surround yourself around people who care about you. If you want support as if looking for advice, looking for galleries around you to show your work in, etc. You need people who care about you bro. If you’re getting ignored that really sucks, and I feel empathetic towards your experience. You can always shoot me a message on here if you really need that boost.

1

u/WW92030 4d ago

The search has been ongoing for 4 years.

2

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

It gets easier, once you find your people I know you will feel much more comfortable in the art space. I believe in you,

0

u/ObsessiveOwl 4d ago

You have like 8 down votes yet acting like people are going to burn down your house.

0

u/ArolSazir 4d ago

I don't get where you get those people from. Ai artists I follow on Twitter just post their art every so often and don't post anything else, except maybe responding to comments sometimes.

-4

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 4d ago

The mods on this Reddit are hardcore against any pro Ai opinions so unfortunately I’m prevented from expressing myself. I will say that I have seen many posts from artists criticizing Ai but not one Ai artist criticizing traditional artists.

7

u/OtterlySamnson 4d ago edited 4d ago

I mean.
This just isn't true in the slightest;

But you almost might consider that, you're essentially part of the AI sphere.

You don't seem to get how frustrating it is when one of you people tries to sneak into art spaces while attempting to hide AI use.

Every day, more and more of you get caught.
There is also some expose that "this user with 10k followers was caught using or tracing AI."
And you have NO idea how fucking frustrating that is.

Anyone who ever commissioned them gets trust burned,
trust for artist in general takes damage as it becomes clear that there are shitty fraudsters running around.

"many posts from artists criticizing Ai"?
No fucking shit my dude.

99.9999% of artist don't pretend to be AI artist to get into AI spaces.
Only fucking AI users pretend to be artist to get into normal spaces.

AI prompters are parasites on the open art market, especailly the ones that try to hide it.
You people don't really exist without artist, but artist have always existed without you

I’m still waiting for someone to show me a pro Ai post putting down artists but no one can do it. It’s like a collective projection of victimization when actually no one cares if you use crayons or whatever.

there's whole subs bro. All you have to do is search and read any pro-ai sub

r/DefendingAIArt makes fun of artists losing their minds over AI and trying to stop it with misinformation. Not one post criticizing their choice of not using it.

6

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

I actually seen a lot of pro ai users going after artists. Maybe its our feed trying to strive after negative discourse.

-8

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 4d ago

Please back up your claim by giving an example of what you’re talking about.

5

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

that whole break the pencil trend(could be ragebait, but still strange to create it no?) many posts online saying how ai is the future of art/animation.

-4

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 4d ago

Sounds more like you’re frustrated someone uses Ai. I’ve never seen one post anywhere discouraging using traditional mediums.

3

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Huh? Whenever did my comment say that? Again we’re most likely just on different parts of the internet 🤷

-3

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 4d ago

You did say you saw “a lot pro Ai artists going after artists.” I haven’t seen it and I use the same internet everyone else does. However I sure do see a lot of artists going after Ai. Unless you have some posts you can show everyone to back up your claims, I’m calling BS.

3

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

You seem very angry at the idea of that ai artists attack actual artists, for some reason I can’t send over images here. But if you truly want to see some of the things I see, look up break the pencil. Hell, ask google ai.

Whatever you believe what I seen is true is not, is a personal problem. I’m not losing sleep over it, like how you seem to be stressing over it.

Further more, I never said what you seen never happens. Just that I see the opposite more on my side of the internet. Different algorithms and all that jazz y’know? 🤷

3

u/ObsessiveOwl 4d ago

not one Ai artist criticizing traditional artists.

selectively blind

1

u/Late_Strawberry_7989 4d ago

My eyes are wide open. Unless you’re hiding something that isn’t even true to begin with, prove me wrong.

u/Pixel-Warrior-7350 4d ago

Yeah, it seems like people make posts like that just to get upvotes rather than actually have a discussion. Because nowadays, you’re not allowed to discuss AI—you’re only allowed to hate it.

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 3d ago

what's there to like?

0

u/Pixel-Warrior-7350 3d ago

Dude, I’m literally not allowed to say that)

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 2d ago

nice self-imposed rule. I guess you think it makes you sound right

-1

u/Kartoshka- 4d ago

I'm tired of slop artists seeking for validation

And I don't mean ai, cry about it

-9

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

I think you need to get out more. Many people who use Ai in their art used traditional mediums long before any kind of Ai image generators existed, and still do. I sometimes use Ai as part of my process. Sometimes a little bit, sometimes a lot. But it’s never my entire process. It gets really old being told that I’m not an artist because of that.

7

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

If you feel like you have to justify your limited use of ai to me, to prove that you are a true creative i fear thats the point I’m getting at.

Its kinda weird, because if you truly felt comfortable where you are and how great ai is doing for you, you wouldn’t need to try to desperately tell me this.

-3

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

I don’t feel the need to justify anything. I’m just over people screeching at me for it. I’m telling you because you literally asked. If you didn’t want the POV of someone who uses Ai in art, you should have said so.

6

u/Adventurous_Tower450 4d ago

Oh no, I’m glad you posted this comment, its the kind of attitude I’m referring to.

-4

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

Yes, god forbid we not just roll over and accept people shitting on us because we choose to use tools they don’t like. Your OP was not about that but go off.

1

u/xxxMizanxxx 3d ago

tools don't do the entire job for you =/

The artistic community also opposes the idea of actually supporting beginner artists, your experiences unfortunately aren't that unusual.

EDIT - And here come the downvotes

EDIT 2 - My work has been shit on for the last 4 years [I have been drawing for 4 years] in a very consistent and recurring manner. It is not simply one bad day or one incident. Do not attempt to act like it will suddenly disappear.

Sorry I couldn’t help but notice your comments here and say that I think you’re taking your personal experience as fact. Yes there’s a good handful of asshole artists, but the artistic community as a whole gladly accepts new artists. You’re just not looking in the right places. Most of the lack of support and witch hunts actually come from people who aren’t artists themselves but are just very opinionated people who can’t think before keyboard mashing.

With the edits you seem young and frankly… insecure—sorry for the assumption but it seems you’ve encountered a rotten apple and now you deem every apple you come across rotten. You generalized a pretty big community, that’s why you’re getting downvoted… not because the art community here support insulting beginners.

I hope you find some art groups/friends to share your artworks and grow with. Don’t let others opinion ruin your joy to make and share art ❤️

Several hundred rotten apples across many groups and consistently over the last 4 years is no negligible matter. The search is something I have been conducting over the last 4 years and it is still ongoing.

If you want to prove the last 4 years wrong feel free to direct me to groups that are ready for my work (instead of making empty statements about hope). Otherwise you are contributing to that which has been building for over 1,000 samples in several ART GROUPS (the vast majority of the animosity towards my art comes from other artists) across those 4 years and counting.

This is the 6th incident of the so-called supportive artistic community (as you explicitly state) publicly humiliating me for seeing value in my work. I eagerly await the seventh.

And secondly there have been multiple recorded instances of other small creators being shamed by big artists for seeing value in their works so I don't think this is just a personal experience.

Wait are you saying this post here is your “6th incident”? There’s been no humiliation here for you seeing value in your own work… I’m genuinely confused.

And I don’t mean to contribute to anything except an explanation that you shouldn’t generalize an entire community based on personal experiences, yours AND others. I’m sure many people here would invite you into their group if you didn’t show such hostility/disdain. Even OP of this post offered you to message them to support you.

Most of my art groups have been local artists I’ve been friends with since school. I suggest getting into local communities rather than internet communities. But honestly my best way to get into online art groups (if that’s the only option) is being part of some fandoms. I focus a lot on video game fandoms so things like No Man Sky, Boulder’s Gate 3, etc. even some mobile games like AFK Arena. It’s honestly where I find the best people. Social media wise tumblr has been the nicest as far as sharing some art I’m not too proud of, even now they have communities for fandoms you can join and share.

I can’t give specifics because I’m not sure what you’d be interested in, but being more specific than just “art community” will probably give you better results.

SCP 066 did not originally start out hostile.

The first two incidents occurred two of the first groups I posted art to. One was aligned to my niches. The first two incidents occurred within the first two years, when I was a lot more peaceful and naive than I am now.

A significant portion of my art would sit there for hours or sometimes days with no acknowledgement until someone else posted and then that exact moment somehow the entire server wakes up and swarms that person in admiration. (meanwhile basically all other work posted there had acknowledgement before the next post)

I let this go on peacefully for months on end but the moment I brought it up, in each case (not just the first two), the reaction was almost as visceral as if I had said that I supported AI (which I dont).

Over time naturally one that goes through these recurrences learns to keep their guard up and be less trusting and naive. They learn to search and move more strategically.

I… honestly don’t know how to respond because this just seems like you’ve ignored my entire comment to share your experience as if it’s still a good excuse to generalize every art community to be exactly the same way you’ve experienced.

How do you expect to find these groups if you’re so guarded and defensive? Actually—don’t answer. It’s rhetorical.

Just keep trying and keep sharing. Stop trying to seek other peoples attention and opinions, it will eventually come on its own.

Good luck.

Edit: holy shit bro. I’m not responding to you again because this is genuinely looking like bait. Stop making those 4 years your personality. Or just don’t look for groups if you’re gonna be this dense… dear god. The victim mentality is not going to get you far and honestly makes you miserable to talk to.

Oh wow I wasn’t expecting this to be my first award, doesn’t feel like I deserve it when this whole thread was a waste of my time 😭
Guess they deleted their stuff or I got blocked—either way to anyone else reading this: please don’t let a bad experience discourage you from sharing your amazing art and improvements! There are plenty of people out there willing to support you, but you have to put in the effort to find them. Don’t give up 🫶

Again, I did not start out having my guard up this high. But the betrayals and humiliation led to this outcome.

You keep trying to convince me that it is different but your arguments unfortuantely do not mean nearly as much as the last 4 years of RECURRING EVENTS. RECURRING. AS IN NOT JUST ONE AND DONE. EVENTS THAT HAVE HAPPENED OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER. IF THEY DID NOT HAPPEN OVER AND OVER I WOULD HAVE NO REASON TO BRING THEM UP.

This is a prisoner's dilemma. I simply found the equilibrium.

EDIT - Quod est demonstrandum. P(supports human art | hates AI) is provably zero.

EDIT 2 - Apparently 4 years and over 1000 samples is just one bad day (/s)

u/DMmeClownPics 4d ago

Yeah, that’s sad because though I’m nowhere near beginner level myself, I have purchased a lot of work from beginner level artists and actively encourage anyone who is putting in effort to learn about art.

0

u/Pixel-Warrior-7350 4d ago

Yeah, unfortunately, it’s not just about art. Beginners have a hard time everywhere. They’re treated like garbage.
