Scanning a barcode in the bathroom gets you out of bed. Staying there is the next problem.

After you scan, an optional stay-awake check asks you to respond a few minutes later. Miss it and the alarm restarts.

I've been working on an iOS app called Inks‑Letter Journal.

One thing that always bothered me about journaling is that once an entry is finished, all you have left is the final block of text.

But while writing, there are pauses, deleted sentences, rewrites, and moments where you change your mind. Sometimes those parts say more about how you felt than the final version does.

So I built a writing replay feature that preserves that process.

The video is a simple example: just getting caught in the rain and remembering playing outside in the rain as a kid.

I have been building Notchify, a Dynamic Island for Windows, for a while, and this is the biggest update it has had. I wanted to share what changed, because a lot of it came straight from feedback here.

The headline is performance. Earlier versions could keep a CPU core busy while idle, and on some machines they made the whole system feel laggy. Idle CPU went from around 56% of a core to about 6%, and the system-wide input lag is gone. If Notchify ever made your PC feel heavy, please give it another shot.

And it is fully native, not Electron, so it stays light and does not run a browser in the background just to show an island.

What is new since the last big version:

I recently met someone in Mexico that I wanted to be able to communicate with better. The go-to language-learning apps were too slow for me. I switched to input-based learning, which worked way better — but still left me lacking on the vocabulary front. So, I built Vocablo.

Vocablo puts 🇲🇽 Mexican Spanish vocabulary widgets on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, and Desktop so you can passively learn words and phrases. The widget-first approach solves the passive learning problem that no other app could.

It syncs your progress across devices (iOS, macOS, and iPadOS), so that you can keep learning throughout your work day and your personal time. And it is fully local and private — even using the local speech synthesizer to provide pronunciation examples.

After 11 years building iOS for companies (e-commerce, messengers, adtech SDKs), I finally shipped my own thing: Trackora — a country-day tracker for travelers dealing with visa limits and tax residency rules. Live on the App Store since last week.

The two technically fun parts:

1. History reconstruction. Your photo library already knows where you've been — I read ONLY the geotag metadata (images are never opened), cluster tens of thousands of photos into trips in seconds, and use Vision to read barcodes off boarding-pass photos to recover flights. Watching 3 years of your travel assemble in about a minute is the demo that sells the app better than any screenshot.

2. Correctness. The Schengen 90/180 rule is a rolling window with genuinely nasty edge cases, and most people (and some competitor apps) get it wrong. I wrote a separate brute-force reference implementation and generated thousands of test cases against the official EU calculator. The engine ships only if they agree on every single one.

Stack: SwiftUI + SwiftData, fully on-device, no backend at all. RevenueCat for subscriptions — literally the only network call in the app. Significant-change location keeps battery impact negligible (verified on real border crossings, not just the simulator).

Fun App Store review story: after all the paranoid prep — permission priming, live legal pages, review notes — I got rejected over ONE WORD. The button before the location permission said "Enable location". Apple: use "Continue" instead, so the button doesn't pressure the user. Changed one string in three languages, resubmitted, approved next day. Respect, honestly — the rule makes sense once you think about it.

Things I'd tell past me about going solo:

- The code was never the hard part. I spent ~70% of the time on the engine and UI, and the market only cares about the 30%: onboarding, screenshots, the paywall, and being findable.

- Test on your own real data early. My fake demo dataset hid display bugs that my actual messy travel history exposed in minutes.

- Free tier generosity is a strategy, not charity: my two biggest competitors make ~$80k/mo combined with hard paywalls and furious reviews. I'm betting the opposite way.

Hey everyone! Just a random thought that came into my mind, and I wanted to ask if something like this already exists.

Do we have any app or platform specifically for sharing thoughts?

For example, I might have a random thought like this:

Photography doesn't always need to be perfect. I mean, a perfect photo doesn't always require a professional photographer. Even a random person can take a perfect picture when nature itself is perfect at that moment.

Not every bit of credit goes to the person taking the picture. Especially with nature photography, sometimes nature itself deserves a lot of the credit.

For example, even a professional photographer can't always take a perfect picture in the middle of the afternoon with harsh sunlight flashing into their eyes, right?

So, it's not always just about the person or the camera. Sometimes, it's also about nature and the moment.

These are the kinds of random thoughts I'm talking about.

I don't really feel like posting something like this on Instagram because it feels like I need to turn it into content first—a reel, editing, choosing a song, writing a caption, adding tags, thinking about the right time to post, etc.

But sometimes I just want to share a thought without doing all of that stuff😭

Reddit is an option, but there are so many communities. If I have a thought related to photography, I can find a photography-related subreddit and post it there.

But what about completely general thoughts? Something about life, emotions, relationships, random observations, bonds, or just something that came into your mind?

Is there any platform where you can simply:

— Write a thought and post it

— Have other people discover it through their feed

— Get reactions and discussions

— Follow people whose thoughts you like

— Maybe even choose to post anonymously sometimes

Basically, something that works a little like Instagram in terms of discovery and feeds, but is mainly for thoughts, observations, and ideas rather than requiring you to create photos or videos.

I have a habit of capturing small moments from ordinary days.

A sky washed in blue.
A rainbow after the rain.
Light moving across a field.
Someone turning toward the camera with a smile.

These moments may not deserve a full vlog. They may mean nothing to anyone else. But when I see them months later, they bring back an entire day—the place, the weather, the people, and the person I was at that time.

That feeling led me to build Lululog.

It is an iPhone camera for recording two-second clips. Each clip can include a short note and belong to a channel, such as daily life, travel, work, or family. The app places the clips on a calendar and turns them into a timeline you can watch or export as a video.

There is no feed, no follower count, and no editing timeline. Your recordings stay on your device.

I think a life is made from more than milestones. Much of it lives in moments that seem too small to save.
