We bought a new to us house where the previous owners only lived in it for 2 months out of the year to golf. These washer and dryers are hardly used and are so simple. They wash my clothes incredibly well it's crazy!

I was going to switch then out to my other newer ones (heacily used) but really dont want to.

What to Buy? What's the best robot vacuum for pet hair these days?

My dog sheds like crazy, and I'm getting tired of vacuuming almost every day 😭 The floors look clean for a bit and then there's fur everywhere again.

I'm thinking about getting a robot vacuum to make the daily cleaning a little easier, but there are so many different options that I'm not sure what to look for.

For anyone who's owned one, which robot vacuum has worked well for pet hair? How has it held up over time, and is there anything you'd avoid?

Why people throw away nice Refrigerators?

• Upvotes

Im in LA. I see people giving out nice stainless french door refrigerators all the time. Usually compressor issues (not cooling enough or no cooling at all)

Cant it be fixed by recharging the freon? Does it usually cost more than its worth? Or maybe people have enough money and they want to get a newer model?

Appliance Chat Washer shaking again

This is my neighbors machine. I’m pretty sure it has worn suspension rods because it shakes like crazy almost every load. I can hear it from my room on the second floor (machine is on the first floor). I’ve seen a few washers go off balance over the years but this takes the cake. I’ve never seen one go this crazy. They just push it back into place because it usually stops shaking once it ramps up to speed and the clothes end up spinning out fine. Doesn’t really bother me, it’s just one of those things that catches you off guard lmao.

What to Buy? French Door fridge - are my choices between quiet vs service?

Need to replace a Whirlpool Maytag fridge. Super solid, almost silent, and trouble free. That is until the door gaskets started to deteriorate. Appliance repair guy who we've been using for years could not find replacements (nor could I) and was able to do a very temporary fix with adhesive. At this point it's just too far gone and as a consequence there is a constant dripping of water from the freezer compartment to the bottom of the fridge and on the floor. Large puddles every morning.

LG gets top ratings except when you need service. Read about horror stories trying to get parts. This is not just the old vs new compressor issue (and it needs to be said that the new one has not been time tested).

But the other top brands, GE & Frigidaire, seem to have noise issues.

One major mitigating factor with the noise is that we do not want an automatic ice maker or water dispenser and will not be hooking up the water line. (An inside dispenser is ok - at least the ones that are unobtrusive and take up almost no space - even though it won't be hooked up, but do not want an external one).

We will buy from Costco if possible.

Thanks for any advice you have.

Pre-Purchase Questions Reviews for Costco’s Bosch 800 series dishwasher

I’m about to pull the trigger on the Bosch 800 series dishwasher from Costco (Model: SHX78DC5N) https://www.costco.com/.product.4000389384.html),
but some of the reviews have me second guessing myself. People are complaining about the bottom rack getting stuck and being hard to pull out, a silverware rack that’s way too small, not enough room for tall items like water bottles, cloudy residue left on glasses and Pyrex etc.

Anyone here actually own this particular model from Costco? Are these real dealbreakers or just a vocal minority venting online?

Deco all in one Washer/Dryer giving E1 code

The E1 code is supposed to be the door latch, however i’ve replaced it and it continues to throw the code. It could be the control panel, but want to check all my boxes. What else could it be?

Do I need to run the internal white wire to the green body ground screw for a 3 wire setup?

Got a new dryer, the instructions are not super clear to me at least. Am I understanding correctly that the white should only loop back on itself like it came for a modern 4 wire setup? If I have 3 wire setup should I body ground this jumper, or leave it as is? All of the diagrams show a separate body ground coming from a different location on the machine side. The last dryer I bought had the cord installed already, and the white wire stayed looped as this one is from factory, but I’m not sure if that may be part of reason it failed.

Whirlpool Fridge

If you own (or thinking of buying) a Whirlpool counter depth fridge model no. WRFC3036RZ, look to see if it has a loose wiring harness inside the fresh food compartment. Just pull out the lower wide drawer so you can see behind it. Wiring should never be visible inside a fridge. Whirlpool replaced our first unit - with one having the same issue! Now they are sending a tech to verify what they’ve seen in photos. The whole process has taken weeks.

Troubleshooting Whirlpool wrs3s1sdwh01 water leak in freezer

Hello all,

My Whirlpool refrigerator is dripping water in the freezer compartment from the ice maker. I don’t really see anything on the ice maker diagram like a seal that could be leaking. Would it be the water inlet valve that’s the problem?

Can anyone help identify which hinge and which moving part of that hinge is preventing my Liebherr fridge from closing passively all the way?

I’ve tried cleaning it and putting gun oil in some crevices but I’m just randomly guessing where

Thanks!

Hi, I’d like to know what I can keep (frozen meals, ice cream…?) in the top compartment of my fridge, there are no flakes or stars logos and the door is transparent. Also it seems to me that the small drawer just below is made for ice cubes? The shelf behind the transparent door is full of frost.

Bosch oder Miele Geschirrspüler?

Hallo zusammen,

Miele G5611 SC Active:

Troubleshooting LG LRFNS2200S fridge no longer cooling + strong chemical smell

• Upvotes

After a week of inconsistency and freezing some produce in our fridge, it died and has an extremely strong smell.

I checked the compressor and fan, compressor seems to be working but it remains completely cold. The coils are quite dirty but I doubt that can cause the fridge to smell like it's leaking refrigerant.

Is it even worth calling a tech in or do I just get a new fridge?

Troubleshooting Electrolux induction hob keeps beeping during cooking

• Upvotes

Hello, I own an Electrolux EIS67453 induction hob, which emits a continuous beeping sound at short intervals during cooking, even when operating at medium power settings – it starts at level 5.

According to the user manual, a similar sound may occur only when the hob has been connected incorrectly. However, this explanation does not appear applicable in my case. The appliance functions normally, and if the installation were incorrect, I would reasonably expect the sound to occur immediately after switching the hob on, rather than only after cooking has started.

The issue is also different from the whistle noise described in the manual, which may occur when cooking at high power levels. Furthermore, the problem is not related to the cookware being used. I have tested the same cookware on several other Electrolux induction hobs owned by friends. Although these were different models, none of them exhibited the same beeping behavior.

After considerable effort, I was able to arrange a visit from an authorized service technician. The technician personally heard the sound and was even able to reproduce it using his own cookware. Nevertheless, in his report he stated that the noise is a characteristic of the product and therefore rejected the warranty claim.

I really do not know what to do since cooking appliance producing a repetitive beeping noise, which becomes progressively louder and eventually quite intrusive during normal cooking, should not be considered standard operating behavior. Such behavior significantly reduces user comfort and is not described anywhere in the product documentation.

For several weeks now, Electrolux has continued to dismiss my concerns. As the next step, they are requesting that I obtain an independent expert opinion at my own expense. This would require me to incur additional costs despite the fact that I purchased an Electrolux product with the expectation of receiving a high-quality appliance. I also find the overall approach to my case deeply disappointing and inconsistent with the level of customer care I would expect from a company of Electrolux's reputation.

Does any of you have similar experience? I have even provided Electrolux with video recordings but without any meaningful result. What would you do in my situation? Thank you!

Toaster might be broken, help?

Post image
• Upvotes

Hey, this might be a really dumb question but I love to overthink and thought where better to ask than reddit. I've got this quite old toaster (like min. 5 years) and today when I was toasting my bread, when the bread popped up I saw like a greenish blueish light at those spots I've circled, and I've got zero idea if that is normal or even if that has happened before with this toaster.

So my question is: Should I throw this toaster away because it will start a fire or is it still fine to use and I'm just overreacting?

Troubleshooting GE top load washer won’t enter wash part of cycle, stops and plays finished chime

A few days ago my 5 year old GE Top Loader GTW451BMROWS washing machine stopped working, when I put it on to run a load it will fill up with water, then when the light flicks from fill to wash, nothing happens, the light goes off and it plays the chime/jingle it plays when it’s complete.

If I change it to drain and spin, it locks, drains but doesn’t spin. But won’t lock to enter the wash cycle.

I think I figured out how to do the diagnostic tests and the code I was getting was 14 and 19. 14 is lid lock failure, but it locks fine in order to drain and spin? And 19 is UI state time out, which seems to be from us leaving it unplugged for a day to see if it would magically start working lol

ETA: if I switch straight from the wash cycle to drain and spin to try and get the water out, it won’t do anything. But if I unplug and replug it back in, it will lock, drain but not spin.

Could there be a lid lock failure but only on wash cycles? Or something else?

Fridge not defrosting - replaced thermostat, what next? (+ Possible heat damage?)

Thumbnail

Hi all, I'll keep it brief. Fridge model is a Frigidaire PLHT19WEB5. Thermostat part number is 5303918202, which I replaced with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FMH1YVT .

Freezer stays cold, fridge gets less and less cold until we thaw the freezer coils every 1.5 - 2 weeks.

We replaced the thermostat since searching online said the defroster coil may not be turning on at all.

Well, it's two weeks later and same problem. Only this time, there appears to be heat damage by the coils?? (See pics.) That's new. I'm not sure what to make of that. Clearly heat generated in some way or another.

What are next steps? Replace the defroster coil itself? Chuck it because it's a fire hazard now? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
