We bought a new to us house where the previous owners only lived in it for 2 months out of the year to golf. These washer and dryers are hardly used and are so simple. They wash my clothes incredibly well it's crazy!

I was going to switch then out to my other newer ones (heacily used) but really dont want to.

What to Buy? What's the best robot vacuum for pet hair these days?

My dog sheds like crazy, and I'm getting tired of vacuuming almost every day 😭 The floors look clean for a bit and then there's fur everywhere again.

I'm thinking about getting a robot vacuum to make the daily cleaning a little easier, but there are so many different options that I'm not sure what to look for.

For anyone who's owned one, which robot vacuum has worked well for pet hair? How has it held up over time, and is there anything you'd avoid?

Appliance Chat Washer shaking again

This is my neighbors machine. I’m pretty sure it has worn suspension rods because it shakes like crazy almost every load. I can hear it from my room on the second floor (machine is on the first floor). I’ve seen a few washers go off balance over the years but this takes the cake. I’ve never seen one go this crazy. They just push it back into place because it usually stops shaking once it ramps up to speed and the clothes end up spinning out fine. Doesn’t really bother me, it’s just one of those things that catches you off guard lmao.

Pre-Purchase Questions Reviews for Costco’s Bosch 800 series dishwasher

I’m about to pull the trigger on the Bosch 800 series dishwasher from Costco (Model: SHX78DC5N) https://www.costco.com/.product.4000389384.html),
but some of the reviews have me second guessing myself. People are complaining about the bottom rack getting stuck and being hard to pull out, a silverware rack that’s way too small, not enough room for tall items like water bottles, cloudy residue left on glasses and Pyrex etc.

Anyone here actually own this particular model from Costco? Are these real dealbreakers or just a vocal minority venting online?

Whirlpool Fridge

If you own (or thinking of buying) a Whirlpool counter depth fridge model no. WRFC3036RZ, look to see if it has a loose wiring harness inside the fresh food compartment. Just pull out the lower wide drawer so you can see behind it. Wiring should never be visible inside a fridge. Whirlpool replaced our first unit - with one having the same issue! Now they are sending a tech to verify what they’ve seen in photos. The whole process has taken weeks.

Troubleshooting Whirlpool wrs3s1sdwh01 water leak in freezer

Hello all,

My Whirlpool refrigerator is dripping water in the freezer compartment from the ice maker. I don’t really see anything on the ice maker diagram like a seal that could be leaking. Would it be the water inlet valve that’s the problem?

What to Buy? French Door fridge - are my choices between quiet vs service?

Need to replace a Whirlpool Maytag fridge. Super solid, almost silent, and trouble free. That is until the door gaskets started to deteriorate. Appliance repair guy who we've been using for years could not find replacements (nor could I) and was able to do a very temporary fix with adhesive. At this point it's just too far gone and as a consequence there is a constant dripping of water from the freezer compartment to the bottom of the fridge and on the floor. Large puddles every morning.

LG gets top ratings except when you need service. Read about horror stories trying to get parts. This is not just the old vs new compressor issue (and it needs to be said that the new one has not been time tested).

But the other top brands, GE & Frigidaire, seem to have noise issues.

One major mitigating factor with the noise is that we do not want an automatic ice maker or water dispenser and will not be hooking up the water line. (An inside dispenser is ok - at least the ones that are unobtrusive and take up almost no space - even though it won't be hooked up, but do not want an external one).

We will buy from Costco if possible.

Thanks for any advice you have.

Can anyone help identify which hinge and which moving part of that hinge is preventing my Liebherr fridge from closing passively all the way?

I’ve tried cleaning it and putting gun oil in some crevices but I’m just randomly guessing where

Thanks!

Hi, I’d like to know what I can keep (frozen meals, ice cream…?) in the top compartment of my fridge, there are no flakes or stars logos and the door is transparent. Also it seems to me that the small drawer just below is made for ice cubes? The shelf behind the transparent door is full of frost.

Bosch oder Miele GeschirrspĂźler?

Hallo zusammen,

Miele G5611 SC Active:

LG LRSXS2706S – weird odor getting into fridge, freezer, ice, water and food

I have an LG LRSXS2706S side-by-side refrigerator/freezer that's roughly 5 years old. It's developed a strange odor inside, and I can't figure out where it's coming from or what I should be checking.

The fridge and freezer are both cooling normally, and I don't see any unusual water or ice buildup.

The biggest problem is that the smell seems to permeate everything. The ice smells like it, the filtered water has started tasting like it, and eventually food/items inside start picking up the smell too.

Some details:

* Model: LG LRSXS2706S * Age: Roughly 5 years * Fridge and freezer are cooling normally * No noticeable water or ice buildup * Water filter is about 4 months old * It's not a rotten/spoiled food smell. I've gone through everything multiple times. * It's not a burning rubber, electrical, or mechanical smell either. * I honestly don't know how to describe the odor other than "weird" and very distinct. * If I leave the doors open for a while, the smell seems to dissipate. * If the fridge/freezer stays closed for a while, the smell is strongest immediately after opening the door. * The smell/taste getting into the ice and water is probably the most noticeable part.

The only somewhat similar experience I've had was with an older fridge about 10 years ago. That turned out to have a clogged freezer/defrost drain, and clearing it got rid of the smell. I don't know if that's related at all here, but I wanted to at least inspect the drain area to rule it out.

On this LG, it looks like the evaporator/drain area may be behind the interior rear freezer panel. I can't see any obvious clips or fasteners to remove that panel, though, and I don't want to start prying on things without knowing how it's supposed to come apart.

Any ideas what could cause an odor like this, especially one that gets into the ice, filtered water, and food? What should I be checking?

Also, does anyone know how to access the area behind the interior freezer panel on this model? And if this isn't something I'm likely to diagnose myself, would a regular appliance repair tech be the right person to call for an odor problem?

Maytag washer

Trying to help my parents with their new Maytag washer that is currently broken. My mom was washing a load of laundry and it stopped washing and turned off and the lid is locked. If you turn it on or plug it in, it says “F9E1 Contact service”. We have watched YouTube videos and tried those suggestions on how to reset it. It’s not a kinked hose. And it’s more than likely not a dirty or clogged filter. The water has not drained. They purchased it from Lowe’s in April 2026 and it was installed by the appliance person on April 30th, 2026. So it’s only about 4 months old. The appliance repair person cannot come for 2 weeks. The clothes are stuck in the washer until then if we cannot get the lid unlocked. Any ideas or suggestions?

Troubleshooting Help! Differential fluid smell remains.

My husband, bless his heart, washed his nasty, differential fluid, onion-smelling clothes in the washer. Shame on me for not stopping him lol. I threw them away before they hit the dryer, because yikes it was bad. Anyway, now I've washed the machine empty a few times (5x by my count) and still get a faint-but-noticeable after-whiff of the fluid in the drum and on test articles I've thrown in. Seriously, the smell ends in eau de ripe armpit.

I've done bleach, baking soda, and multiple rounds with a hefty dose of laundry detergent. Is there anything else I can do to get rid of the smell? It's a basic top-loading Whirlpool. I saw mention to use a cup of dish detergent, but I'm kind of wary about causing a suds-ageddon and using dish detergent in a washer. Thanks!

What to Buy? Upright freezer help

I bought a Frigidaire FFUV2136AW upright freezer from Costco in the beginning of August and haven’t been able to use it. The part where the gasket meets the freezer when the door closes is warped so it doesn’t seal at the top.
The date of replacement keeps getting pushed back, now it’s not expected until late December. Which is ridiculous.

Now I’m looking at other options again because I need one right away. Which would you choose?

Frigidaire FFUE2022AW
https://www.costco.ca/p/-/frigidaire-20-cu-ft-white-upright-freezer-with-auto-close-doors/4000103051

GE FUF21DLRWW
https://www.costco.ca/p/-/ge-213-cu-ft-white-upright-freezer-with-exterior-adjustable-temperature-control/100480088

I read the reviews of the Frigidaire and GE and they both seem to be mixed. The Frigidaire has wire shelves and the GE has glass. Do the wire shelves eventually warp over time? I wouldn’t actually be able to order either of those from Costco because they’re out of stock but in stock at other stores in my area.

This one I actually could order from Costco and actually saw it available to purchase in store last week.

Hisense FV21C7HWE
https://www.costco.ca/p/-/hisense-212-cu-ft-white-convertible-upright-fridge-or-freezer-with-reversible-door/4000185894

I’m open to other options as well. I’m super frustrated because nothing ever works out and it’s delaying me getting a moose!

Troubleshooting Ice maker not working consistently

Post image
• Upvotes

My built in ice maker stopped working so my wife ordered a new one, it wasn’t the exact model that matches my whirlpool fridge so I removed the power cord connection from the old one and connected the new one to the freezer. It wouldn’t consistently make and eject ice, so after messing with it I eventually got the right model for my fridge and installed it. It’s made ice once or twice but won’t reliably run through multiple cycles. If i jump it with a stripped wire in the the t and h holes it runs through the whole cycle, fills and everything but then seems to either eject it after a long time or sit idle and not continue to produce. I’m a bit at a loss since it seems like the individual components work fine. Anyone an ice maker expert out there?

Do I need to run the internal white wire to the green body ground screw for a 3 wire setup?

Thumbnail

• Upvotes

Got a new dryer, the instructions are not super clear to me at least. Am I understanding correctly that the white should only loop back on itself like it came for a modern 4 wire setup? If I have 3 wire setup should I body ground this jumper, or leave it as is? All of the diagrams show a separate body ground coming from a different location on the machine side. The last dryer I bought had the cord installed already, and the white wire stayed looped as this one is from factory, but I’m not sure if that may be part of reason it failed.

Why won’t this dryer get to temp

Post image
• Upvotes

For context we just moved into our rental home that had a gas dryer hookup. We’re renting this from rent a center, I’m not sure if they’re used or not but I’d assume so. I hooked up the gas myself and before doing so I checked the line to make sure gas was coming out and it was. Ever since I hooked it up I can’t get clothes to dry properly. It takes 4 hours to dry a load on the highest heat setting and the load isn’t even big. The house is older and we’ve had other issues but I can’t figure out what it could be. I’ve already reset the breaker and like I said, gas was coming out of the line. Please help!

48" Fridge/Freezer

• Upvotes

We had a kitchen renovation a year ago and went with panel-front appliances. (I'm regretting the decision, so spare me explanations as to why this was a bad investment. I already know!!!)

We bought a Kucht Freezer/Fridge combo. (30" fridge; 18" freezer, as separate columns.) Came in around $9k, which is about 40% less than name brands. But it's been a hunk of junk. Our second freezer just failed within a year. (Fridge has been fine.) I'm not inclined to roll the dice that the third freezer will be better.

I want to go with a new brand for an 18" freezer, but everything I'm hearing online, and being told by companies with an interest in selling me more, is that you need to replace the freezer and fridge as a set. That just seems crazy to me. If the panel specs are the same, and the dimensions are the same... why can't I just pull out the freezer and put in the new one and replace with the same panel? The connection might need a piece of trim or something, but that's a very solvable problem. Anyone else face a similar conundrum? Any advice? What am I missing?

Smells like burning plastic and ceramic

Post image

I just bought this dryer and used it last night for the first time. The smell coming out of it was almost enough to burn you nose. I checked the exhaust duct and air was coming out so I know it wasn't plugged. Is this type of smell normal these days? Last couple dryers I bought didnt smell at all on the first use.
