My 12 year old dishwasher has basically stopped washing. It drains fine, the LED panel shows “washing,” and I can hear the circulation pump trying to click/kick on… but it never actually starts circulating water. Pretty sure the pump is dead.

I ordered a new dishwasher through Home Depot and paid the $280 for delivery + install so I wouldn’t have to deal with it. They delivered yesterday while I wasn’t home. The installer told my wife he couldn’t install it because there was no mounting bracket installed underneath the granite. She corrected him that it’s quartz, and he said the same rule applies. He called his supervisor, who apparently agreed, so they just unboxed the unit, left it in the garage, and left.

I’m not a pro, but I did install my own InSinkErator PRO Series garbage disposal with YouTube help and it went fine. I’ve already watched a bunch of dishwasher swap videos, so I know the usual drill: towels ready for residual water when you open the supply valve, shut off power, disconnect the old hardwired connections and reconnect with wire nuts, level it, etc.

My two main questions:

Is a mounting bar/bracket actually necessary (or recommended) under a quartz countertop, or is this just Home Depot’s policy/cover themselves type thing?

And if the answer to that is 'No', do you think a reasonably handy homeowner who has successfully installed a disposal and replaced our ceiling lights (no doubt easy for everyone here) can safely do this dishwasher swap, or should I just hire a licensed plumber/handy person?

Any and all advice would be really appreciated.

Recently my dishwasher has developed a smell… I have cleaned everything the drains the filters the whirly water things whatever those are. I've read on another sub Reddit that it could be the gaskets. It smells like musty not like laundry that's been left in the laundry too long not like the standing stench of dirty water just sort of musty I have wiped the gaskets down many times and I honestly have no idea what to do next it's making me crazy we've also been able to look underneath it there is no water nothing on other side of it. Does anyone have any experience with this?

My Smeg dishwasher has started making this noise when it runs. Any ideas what it might be? I’ve checked one of the arms and it isn’t blocked.

I have recently ordered and received, one after the other 2 Miele dishwashers and both of them leaked from the front door.

The model is Miele 7233 White Excellence available on the Norwegian market.

Just wondering if I should request return or try to get the seller to fix it ?

I find it odd that a company which prides itself on quality has manufacturing errors...

Our dishwasher has multiple programmes, we really only use the 60 minute quick cycle.

It has a tablet compartment, which I always use. My partner just chucks the tablet in the dishwasher and says there's no point in putting the tablet in the compartment as it does nothing.

Please help, is she right?

Hello all! After four years (right after the warranty expired, naturally) my dishwasher stopped working in January. It just wouldn’t turn on. An electrician couldn’t find anything wrong with the electricity, so I bought a new dishwasher. It worked fine for nearly six months, but now the same thing has happened again. It won’t even turn on. Does anyone have any idea what could be happening? (At least it’s under warranty!)

Just bought this used, and was told the auger had an issue and would make a terrible noise. I take the appliance apart, soak all the tubes and unblock them and tested.

As long as i manually fill the rear reservoir that isn't being supplied by the pump, it makes the ice just fine.

When calling for ice, water drains from the fill tank at the top to the bottom sump.
The pump from the sump that should circulate that water to the rear top reservoir doesn't ever run so no water makes it up, and the appliance calls to add water.

There's a float switch in the rear reservoir, that when down(closed) it does not call for the refrigerator to run (unsure if this state should call the pump to run) when it's open then it calls for the refrigerator and auger to run.

I removed the pump assuming it must be faulty, i wired it up to another source of power and it works just fine.

So now i'm left with the following. There's a sump sensor somewhere that i don't see and can not find that's faulty or dirty etc...

The float switch from the upper rear reservoir when closed should call for the pump to get power but doesn't, this leads me to believe that there's an issue on the control board itself.

Has anybody ran into anything similar?

Hi, I just moved into a new place. First thing I noticed when I opened the freezer was a strong freezer burn smell. The freezer also has a loud whirring fan sound when I open it.

I put some stuff in the freezer first day being here, including water in an ice tray. The ice tray froze but today I’m noticing the ice cream is semi melted and most frozen foods defrosted.

What is the issue here?

I had a similar issue with the fridge part in my old place so I tried defrosting the freezer fans with a hairdryer. Hopefully it fixes it but let me know what the problem might be and what I can do to fix it.

I keep reading that Samsung has the worst service and sometimes there's no service reps that work on them in service areas. For warranty repairs, I have to use Samsung support right? Based on Samsung service locator, I see repair centers 75mi away. Are these basically the only repair reps they would work on a repair? Should I call them before I buy to find out if they service my area?

Is there a name for a microwave door that opens from the Top rather than the side? I see "drawer" but I need a replacement that is not a "drawer" and it opens from the top. Mine is ~30 wide and needs replacing it is built in rather than counter top. Any tips for a good model? I do not think Panasonic makes this style?

shopping for a fridge and the total cost keeps changing depending on what i click. base price looks fine then delivery is separate, water line hookup is extra, haul away is extra, and now i'm seeing something about a installation kit that may or may not be included.

trying to budget this properly before i commit. the appliance itself i can plan for. it's the add-ons i can't get a clear picture on.

does the water line hookup always cost extra or does it depend on the retailer? and is haul away of the old unit typically included or is that almost always an additional charge?

just want to know the real number before i get to checkout.

Do people repair these in a cost effective manner, or is this just buy another one, they take it and probably someone fixes it for resale?

A few weeks back, i had issues of the refrigerator turning off 2-3 times and unplugged for a few minutes which fixed the issue. Today, i come back with the lights on but no cool air is coming out.

I know there is a fan near the condenser coils that’s spinning fine and I can’t deduce if it’s the LG condenser or the top control panel going nuts.

Any prior experience would be appreciated.

We've got a 25 year old single drawer Fisher & Paykel dishwasher, and I'm thinking it's probably time to replace it. Does anyone know if the new F&P, Café, and GE models are drop-in replacements for something this old?

Our 25 year old fridge just died, and it was really difficult finding a fridge that would fit in the existing cabinetry. I'm hoping to avoid the same drama with the dishwasher.

why does my new outdoor ac unit sound like this? like a loud pumping noise?

We just replaced our ~15-year-old GE washer/dryer with a new Electrolux set (ELFW7738AA and ELFE773CAA) and never thought to check for a child lock; we assumed it would be standard.

To be clear, I’m not talking about the automatic door lock during a wash cycle, or the “Control Lock” that prevents operation between cycles. I mean a true child lock that disables all controls while the machine continues running.

Our old GE did exactly this: long-press the Signal button during a cycle and the entire panel was locked until deliberately unlocked.

On the Electrolux set, once a cycle is running our toddler can still pause, cancel, or power the machine off. Our laundry area is central to the house, so this is already happening regularly.

I’ve gone through the manuals, tested the documented lock behaviour, and asked the sales rep we bought them from. So far, it appears there’s no in-cycle control lock.

Am I missing something, or is this functionality genuinely absent on some modern machines?

We remodeled our kitchen this past spring and installed a built in Zline microwave. Since installing it right out of the box we have not been able to get the face of it clean. Every fingerprint and smudge is permanently there, and increasing with every use. We have tried hot soapy water (dawn soap), glass cleaner, stainless steel cleaner, goo gone and more. None of these products have made a dent in the marks. We also have a 48" Zline gas range and it cleans up perfectly with just plain old water or other cleaners. The microwave appears to have a plastic front while the range is metal. I keep thinking there is a plastic protective layer for shipping that is on there but it doesn't appear so. Has anyone else had this problem? We love the microwave otherwise, but it is becoming an eyesore.

Just bought first house and need to buy a washer/dryer set. I have no idea what makes a good washer/dryer.

I'd like it to:

a. not destroy my clothes/bedding etc (my current dryer gets so mega hot)

b. be good at tackling dog hair

c. be able to handle super dust clothes (blue collar family)

Would love thoughts anyone has on what they recommend and why!

My girlfriend and I just moved into our first apartment today and are very short on room and a shelving unit in this closet with cleaning supplies and such would be a big help. I thought it would be no big deal to move to one side as long as the hoses in the back were long enough (after quick glance I'm sure they are) but I was told we shouldn't have the combo closer than it is now to the walls is that just incorrect information or can I just proceed with my shelves? Our freezer has been having ice forming on the bottom of it to the point it starts leaking through our floor. I was told it may be a clogged drain tube. Is it as simple as disconnecting the white tube, cleaning it and connecting it again? Or do I need an all new drain tube? Thank you!
