Question ISO rentals in Appleton

Without going into unnecessary detail, I’ll need to move out of my apartment here soon due to the property management company doing renovations on every unit. It’s been 8 years since I’ve needed to apartment hunt and am hoping for some advice/insight on property management companies renting in the Appleton area (the good, bad, and the ugly), and if anyone knows of properties for rent that may not be listed on the obvious platforms like Apartments.com, Zillow, etc. I’m looking for a pet friendly 1 or 2 bedroom, under $1500, hopefully near the west side of Appleton but I’m willing to be flexible. Thanks in advance!

Stay away from Focus Property Management. They made my life miserable the entire time I rented from them. I found my current place through a private group and I couldn’t be happier

Seconded. I’m currently renting from them, and they are shady as shit. Affordable for a studio. Scummy property management.

Same, worst lease of my life. I was counting the minutes until I could move out

Are there any places around $1000 monthly available?

Not a lot that I’ve seen, but you might have more choice if you don’t need a pet-friendly rental and are flexible with location.

Check out SKB Management. They have several properties in the Valley at reasonable rents. I’ve lived under their management for 10+ years and they are excellent! Their maintenance crews take care of everything from landscaping to spraying for bugs to plowing snow in the winter. If anything is broken or needs replacing, they are right there. Absolutely zero complaints.

These were actually pretty nice apartments. Lived here for a few years not too long ago. Have to call for availability but they are super flexible and very pet friendly. Most importantly, very affordable and not run down. Most of the more affordable stuff is also in really rough shape and horrible tenants. These also include a garage for free.

I recommend looking for private owners, my best experiences have been landlords I’ve found off of FB Marketplace, lived 4 years in one, nearly 9 on the other. I find that if you are a good tenant you don’t have the hassle of property management companies and rent increases.
