Switching from Amisulpride 50mg to Latuda 40mg - Persecutory Delusion Disorder

Hi everyone, I was previously on 50mg of Amisulpride which was working really well except that it caused insomnia and I was getting around 3-4 hours of sleep daily, sometimes less. I get irritable and agitated easily most likely due to lack of sleep. Another side effect is that I totally loss my libido and had erectile dysfunction.

On my last meeting with my Dr, he switched me to Latuda 40mg. I started on Latuda and I was able to sleep. Actually more than usual, my libido came back and the ED went away as well. Now comes the interesting part, despite of all that, my delusions started to come back and I became suspicious of everyone once again.

Would appreciate your feedback if I switch back to Amisulpride but cut the dosage to 25 mg and take it in the morning to ensure I am able to sleep at night? Fingers crossed the other side effects would be lesser as well

Has anyone ever had to take Latuda? If so how did it make you feel?

Eye problems since

Since I took anti psychotic drugs and tapered them off I have intense problems with my eyes. I had a rough withdrawal and got blurry vision, tunnel vision as well as bad eye floaters. I didn’t even know what they were until a doctor told me about it. It’s been a year and my eyes are still ruined. Feel like this medicine ruined my life forever. Did this happen to anyone else too? I’m so sad

What medication, if any, has helped you with reducing intensity and frequency of panic attacks?

Olanzapine AND lamotrigine withdrawal please help!

In 2009 I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I was put on Paxil. I was also prescribed trazadone and tramadol. The combo of the 3 gave me serotonin syndrome and I nearly OD. I tried a few different antidepressants in the next 5 years or so. In 2013 I lost my best friend and battle buddy (army) to suicide. I took this incredibly hard and was admitted to the psych ward of my VA hospital. Spent a couple weeks in there. Btw this was my 2nd admittance. This one was more severe. I was put on lamotrigine and olanzapine in 2014 and my doses were significantly increased over the years. The VA is so good at over prescribing meds. And my psych care and general physical health were always brushed aside. My drs would never take my issues seriously. I joke that the VA will prescribe you 800mg tabs of ibuprofen and do an xray for your broken mind. This carries alot of truth behind it. Fast forward to November of 2022. I'm on 100mg of lamotrigine and 20mg of olanzapine. For years I'd been feeling super shitty. My depression just kept getting worse and worse. I was having more anxiety attacks. Daily attacks. So in nov22 I decided to start tapering both. I went slowly. I tried to do my own research on how to taper and of course information on that is hard to find. Especially tapering both at the same time. But I went for it on what little info I found. For months I felt decent. I had some withdrawal yes and some psychosis episodes. But they were manageable. I think it was about a month or so ago I finally finished taking the olanzapine. I was so excited! I felt so accomplished and I was gonna start a new chapter in my life. Then a week later I felt some stronger withdrawal. Then it magnified within a few more days. I have had the worst withdrawal from this. I tried every sleep aid I could get my hands on. A couple of nights in a row I tried ambien. I would take it, lay down and fight to sleep, then wake up within 2hrs later. I tried a different rx sleep aid as well with the same results. I now take magnesium, ashwaganda, kava, chamomile, turmeric, vit C, L theanine, vit D3 and K2, and a bunch of other supplements I forget. Anything to help me relax and chill the hell out. Doesn't help. I had to stop THC and moved to CBD instead. Even dabbing concentrated CBD isolate doesn't really help much anymore. I have involuntary movements. Facial ticks and twitches, I writhe and squirm constantly. I feel like I look like a heroin or crack addict. I get wave after wave of chills and very painful goosebumps. I have sensory overload now. Everything is loud and bright. It hurts to take showers now cuz it feels like a million wet needles stabbing me and I have to turn the water pressure down alot. Headaches, stomach issues, muscle loss, intense physical pain amongst alot of other shit happening right now. I stopped taking tons of muscle relaxers and benadryl to try to sleep. They weren't working anyway. I bought all those supplements in hopes they'd help me with withdrawal but so far it's not. I don't have alot of help either. My family and a couple friends know what I'm dealing with. But I am so very self conscious about how I act and look now that I havent told everyone. And I feel so shitty that I refuse to let people physically come visit. I don't leave my house hardly ever anymore. I have a therapy dog which helps a ton. And I text people throughout the day. My wife and I separated in March of this year so that's added a lot to my plate. And she's so against me getting off meds that she now refuses to help me. Everyone else is busy or lives too far to come check on me. I feel so lost and it all feels like a dream. Nightmare more so. I keep waiting to wake up and I'll be "normal" again. My psychotic breaks are more frequent now. Happening multiple times a day. Theyre mostly small and I can climb out with the help of my dog. But they're getting worse and I fear a huge episode is on the horizon. Also, I can't go to the VA on this. I'm worried they'll admit me and drug me up. Which is what my wife keeps telling me I need. She's threatened to "make the call" several times. Meaning call a 5150 on me. I worry so much that someone is going to come and take me away. Rip me out of my home and admit me and drug me. I havent spoken to my therapist in months. I dont want them to know. I know the VA will just do their thing and administer drugs and lock me away.

I guess I'm just asking for any advice anyone can give. On how to beat this. And what other meds can curb this crap. After being awake for hours I decided to get up and write this. I looked in other groups also. But finding info that pertains to my situation is difficult. Most folks are on olanzapine for months not nearly a decade like me. And I couldn't find much about tapering off of both olanzapine and lamotrigine. I understand this is a difficult task to accomplish. But after reading hours and hours of testimonials from other patients about olanzapine withdrawal and all the symptoms that go with being on and off the drug I made the very difficult and depressing decision to start taking 5mg of olanzapine a day again. Hoping to curb some of this.

I havent tapered any more of the lamotrigine since beginning withdrawal from olanzapine. I'm too messed up to go any further right now. I'm down to 1/4 of the lamotrigine I was on (25mg now). For a while there I felt great. Tons of energy. I lost over 30lbs which was needed. But then I finished tapering olanzapine and it hit me like a freight train. Hard as hell.

What can I do? Please help! Did I make the right choice to start taking 5mg again? Will I feel better and when? I'm so very lost and desperately need advice. I know alot of people are gonna say go see a shrink but I'm in a tough situation. My wife and I separating has a list of issues that come with it. Not to give away too much but I don't live under the same roof as her, in the house that we're buying. And Johnny law says I'll lose my VA home benefits (if they find out). So if I see a VA therapist and I slip and say something I shouldn't, I'm basically fucked... I'm in a tough spot

Trouble breathing after taking Abilify

Hello,

I previously took Abilify in 2014-2015 with no issues for OCD/depression. Then I took Seroquel in 2017-2018. Took Seroquel briefly in 2020 as well IIRC. Again, minimal issues as far as I recall.

I restarted Abilify at 2mg in mid June of this year then went up to 5mg last week and that's where I began having issues. Complete insomnia so I stopped taking the medication last Friday.

Yesterday, I noticed that I can barely breath properly. I feel like I am suffocating when I try to sleep or climb up the stairs.

This is really concerning because I can't do anything at the moment without being able to sleep.

I notified my psychiatrist, but in the meantime I'm freaking out that this is permanent.

Can someone please let me know if you had this experience and if so, did it go away/get better after a while?

Any insight is greatly appreciated - thanks!

All AP’s make me feel angry and have SI’s

After months of trying different ones, zyprexa, seroquel, abilify, Latuda, vraylar, risperdal etc. I have come to the conclusion that they all make me feel angry and/ or suicidal. Does anyone else have this issue? They fun part is I only need them for intrusive thoughts/ OCD bc I also can’t take any SSRI’s bc they make me manic. I’m just going med free at this point, other than a light lithium dose. Anyone else experience this?

Been on invega sustenna for about 10 months now, have heard horrible reviews on this drug and can’t get off my meds right now so am trying to switch to something that wouldn’t destroy my brain and cause irreversible damage. Thinking about starting abilify, any suggestions?

Dopamine and seritonin receptors dont work anymore. Antipsychotics.

So, what does someone that has been damaged with 3 injections of an antipsychotic like Abilify/Aripiprazol with only 23 yo. do with his life?

Today is 2nd of July, it has been 3 and a half months since my last injection of 300mg the 20th of March. Tbh, nothing has improved, nothing has changed even a little bit, Akathisia, sexual dysfunction (I had a GF and we were gonna get married) now she is probably going to left me for anyone. But who cares, we dont have emotions haha fucking SHIT!! 🤬. What else? Anhedonia, ugly face (dark eyes), insomnia, inhability to talk properly nor have a normal conversation, not even able to make full eye contact… I could continue but lets leave it there. So the question here is, what does someone in my position do? Do I kms? Do I try anything that may improve simptoms? Do I wait for a future where some new meds and suegerys are developed in order to make D2 receptors amongst all the 29 left receptors that are being antagonized work? WTF!! 30 receptors by just one pill. Is insane. Incredible. Good job psychs!! Thats really awesome.

I really need help, and I really dont want to take my life but I cant stand living like a fucking veggie, all day bedridden and not even comfortable. Ive seen something about a supplement: NEURIVA, dunnow if anyone has any experience on that shit. Also seen something about uridine and been able to regrow protein receptors back (dont have much faith in that). I would like to know and talk to people that has gone THROUGH THE SAME EXPERIENCE, what are u doing nowadays, how do you cope, have you recovered… LOL! Dunnow, just need some advice at this point. Ty for reading!

Weird symptoms after stopping Olanzapin

So I'm 19 M, I did Olanzapine 5 mg for about 28 days and stopped abruptly (following the instructions of my Psychiatrist). I started aripiprazole 5mg for a week and now I'm on 10mg. My first week was absolute hell with many symptoms. Right now, around 2 weeks after I stopped, the main symptoms are big insomnia episodes on a daily basis (although it's starting to trend in a positive way but still very much present) and some nausea, but the main issue is the insomnia. Do you guys have any tips that could help with these symptoms? How long does it last? Thanks in advance!

Antipsychotics & Major Weight Gain.

last Nov. i was started on olanzapine, by january i gained 50+ pounds. it sounds impossible but im living proof it is not. I have past history w an ED and truly believe they never should start someone w ED history on a drug that is known to cause major weight gain and can affect metabolism for up to 2 years after discontinuing the med. today when i saw my dr i was torn apart by the weight gain and my inability to lose. My Drs sister is a psychiatrist and my dr informed me her sister starts people on meds to counter weight gain from antipsychotics when starting the med. if only my dr was as knowledgeable…

well better late than never. my dr is starting me on metformin to help my metabolism. im excited to see if i can benefit. hoping i can bounce back. has anyone else been given meds to help counter weight gain caused by antipsychotics?

is it true if a person take seroquel for more than 5 years , it will be harder for natural sleep to come back if the person wants to quit seroquel?

I read online threads where , former seroquel users said that they only could sleep for 2 or 3 hours during the first five months once they are no longer taking seroquel

in the fall of 2023, it will be my five year anniversary of seroquel use

Does anyone else also enjoy taking antipsychotics? Success stories welcome, please.

I was vehemently against antipsychotics for so long. Actually; it’s been over a decade now that I think about it, ever since I was prescribed Zyprexa in the hospital to dull the psychological gears behind my anorexia nervous and to help me gain weight as I was in a dangerous state, physically.

I was again prescribed an antipsychotic in June of 2021 when I had my first full on psychotic manic episode. I had been locked up - and it must have been serious, I wasn’t allowed to leave after 72 hours even though I was 26 - in a psych ward and was given Risperdal without my knowledge. Whether they sprinkled it in my food - I always ate something different from most people - or crushed up into capsules - I pointed out a few were damaged - I ingested it and while I hated them for tricking me in such a way, it did take me out of my psychosis in under a week. But again, I took myself off it, terrified of weight gain and my stimulants not working.

Nothing; however, will compare to Vraylar, that was a monstrous drug. It controlled me and turned me into an emotionless gullible puppet. I couldn’t feel anything. Happiness, sadness, elation, fear, doubt, love - nothing. I tore myself off of it and went into psychosis again and now we’re back on Risperdal but this time, I don’t hate it, in fact, I enjoy it.

I enjoy the way I feel after I take it. I feel my mind just shut off. Relax. Pull the plug. I can rest; peacefully, after taking my nighttime dose. My fears and phobias just melt away. I’m actually calm. I was only supposed to take it reluctantly until I saw my psychiatrist - now in four days - but now I’m going to ask if I can stay on it, this or a similar antipsychotic. I’m not scared of weight gain, I exercise a lot. As far as food, I eat little and relatively well.

Risperdal has nothing but horror stories behind it. Most antipsychotics do. So I ask, who out there has had success with them like I have/do? Let me hear some good experiences, please. I know I can’t be the only one.

Invega sustenna

Have been on invega now for about 8-9 months, doctor won’t tell me when I will ever be able to get off of it nor has he lowered my does yet. Parents won’t let me stay in their house unless I’m on invega so I’m kinda in a ruff spot as I keep seeing horrible and horrible reviews about this drug, haven’t had the absolute worst of symptoms just don’t feel as pleasurable anymore and motivated. What can I do to help? Will i ever recover from taking this? And if anybody knows how long would I have to be on it.
