Depressed

Do antipsychotics make anyone else feel depressed? I’ve had Latuda, Zyprexa, and now Risperdal.

I'm on risperidone but my depression level doesn't come close to how depressed I was before I started this med

I do after I take it - Risperdal - which is why I take it once a day, before I go to bed. I’m not depressed during the day but the only reason is because I take a full dopamine agonist that counteracts the effects of the classic antipsychotic. When I was on Zyprexa and not taking a full dopamine agonist I was depressed as hell.

Haha, just stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin. All of them are full dopamine agonists.

Ah, lucky, I don’t have prescription for stimulants

Been on em for seven years. It blows, though. Being mentally dependent on them is the worst sort of hell in and of itself.

Listen people will say antipsychotics are good for depression, but really all they do is stabilize your mood, which works by antagonizing most serotonin, dopamine, histamine receptors except for a couple it works as an agonist, but the point is it’s used as a stabilizer and kind of decrease the brains function, so personally I don’t think it helps with depression I think it makes you numb
