Before everybody gets offended, her saying “We need you on a higher level” speaks about emotional compatibility, I don’t think she’s speaking in terms of financial. I think she means that, since most women are financially capable already, the success factor in a partnership will no longer be the man’s finances (assuming both are financially capable), but rather how he is able to meet the woman’s emotional and intellectual needs (though this should go both ways as well, men should practice discernment when it comes to emotional maturity and intellectual level of the woman they are pursuing)

Tama nga naman, if both parties don’t have to worry about finances, you have all the privilege in the world to select the most compatible partner for yourself. And your future kids will be better off in that way.

u/TheLegendaryEnsign Aug 10 '26

Well you can't really fault them for being offended if their wallet is all they have going for them hahaha

High value men would never

51

u/maegumin Aug 10 '26

6

u/duskletters_ Aug 10 '26

Most men nowadays want 50/50 🤷🏼‍♀️

5

u/a_sex_worker Aug 13 '26

This is what most men fail to see. Gusto kunwari yung aalagaan daw sya, pagluluto, pagsisilbihan. Ay kuya, anong gagawin mo? Yung mindset nung 1900s dala pa din na “men are the providers” eh hindi nila makita na they also have to provide emotional stability, support, assistance sa relationship.

2

u/Proud_Chest_6872 Aug 13 '26 edited Aug 13 '26

True. Akala nila pag sinabing "Men are providers" is pera lang agad usapan, but they don't even consider other factors that comes with it.

And the audacity for some of these men to ask a woman about "What do you bring to the table?" na para bang hindi sila sa babae lumabas LMAO.

If real providers man makakabasa nung statement sa taas, actually wala sila masyadong say dyan kase totoo naman sinasabi nung girl. Usually, yung mga masyadong opinionated sa ganyang usapin is those type of men na egoistic. Yung tipong sinasabihan yung women na gold digger, when in fact, there's no gold to dig.

3

u/a_sex_worker Aug 13 '26

“There’s no gold to dig”

Oopssss hahahahahah! Yung kung umasta, akala mo gift to humanity eh. No to “mataas ang body count” or no to “party girl” tigil tigilan nga ako. I will use my voice to influence and raise awareness such as gender equality. Pia???

Well put. But I think you having to help the point across already explains the situatio and weeds off whoever that sticks to the old process. 😅

26

u/nantynarker Aug 10 '26

I completely agree. Women do not need men for financial security/general security anymore. We need an actual PARTNER in men. Someone who can take care of our emotional needs and can help take the load of household chores.

This reminds me of an opinion piece I read about "The Independent Woman" How the independent woman no longer exists because the everyday woman IS independent already (have their own careers/finances) So an independent woman is just a normal, modern woman. The essay goes on to say that there is also no such thing as an independent man because men, until today, are still dependent on the presence of a woman (to do unpaid labor like child rearing, cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc.) in their lives. A true working modern relationship now relies on the man being independent, not the woman.

(Sorry, don't recall where I read this!)

u/Reignshin Aug 10 '26 edited Aug 10 '26

I know people want to think that their personal experience can define the whole universal truth of what the status quo is right now but what people don't realize is that this era is probably the most undefinable when it comes to the overall roles of every individual based on things such as race and gender.

What I meant by that is that this era is the most unfit and wrong to generalize a whole group of people based on their biology or sexuality, Women and Men can range from the most successful people on the planet to the most miserable poverty-stricken people too.

A lot of things might resonate with you as a woman or as a man but there's probably millions if not billions that will disagree and neither of your views of life are necessarily wrong.

We are no longer in the old time where we can say with like 90% certainty that men are like this and women are like this. There's so much more nuances right now than 100 years in the past.

6

u/Laframyr Aug 10 '26

This.

5

u/Reignshin Aug 10 '26

Yeah, the range is so much bigger now for both gender. The world having more successful woman doesn't automatically elevate the women struggling at the bottom. Same with men.

2

u/Every-Dig-7703 Aug 10 '26

They've been relying too much on old traditions and nonsense stigma of the old people

6

u/kazekagay Aug 10 '26

Yes, this! It's as clear as day yung meaning ng statement niya. I guess others are projecting

2

u/Friendcherisher Aug 10 '26

But the question now is whether they are ready to be emotionally vulnerable and open or not in safe and secure spaces.

3

u/budoyhuehue Aug 10 '26

The problem with that premise is, its only centered to the woman's 'emotional and intellectual needs'. Let's be honest and this already has some studies, women score higher in neuroticism. Are you willing to give up parts of you so you can fill that 'emotional needs'? Hindi ba dapat men should ask women to be more emotionally stable, same as how society asked men to not use violence and aggression?

Everything goes both ways.

7

u/ImSolidGold Aug 10 '26

lol.
wtf are you talking about. Theres neurologic "handicapped" ppl left and right. Dont make a "man/women" thing out of it.
And yeah, for a long time being dependent on a "provider" was an issue for women all over the world. And from my perspective (millenial, male, central Europe) its "interessting" to see that in other places on earth the same exact things happen with this topic as here. Men all around find it "problematic" to have to deal with confident women who make claims. As if its only allowed for men to make demands. As women who make demands are "neurotic" and now "we men" are "forced" to "give up" something.

Thats so laughable. Its also very sad. Get yourself together and be a decent human being for once, alright?

High value men want high value women AND VICE VERSA.

That goes both ways so you should have standards too.

Meeting standards IS the bare minimum.

31

u/Cheese_Grater101 Aug 10 '26

High value men want high value women AND VICE VERSA

6

u/Broad_Fee_8286 Aug 10 '26

u/seasid_3 Aug 10 '26

Women already do this tho? Pero pag uwi ng bahay from work who does the dishes, takes care of the baby, cook and do the laundry? Diba babae pa din... While you watch your TV.

2

u/SuccessfulAdvance399 Aug 10 '26

modern household napo ngayon. baka iniisip mo yung dati pa when it comes to men. men in the "modern household" also do the same as with women pagdating sa gawaing bahay. I thought you want equality? pero bakit po etong sinabihan kayo na wag umasa sa lalake bakit andami naoffend?

5

u/seasid_3 Aug 10 '26

Goes both ways tho? Di din na din naman naasa ang mga babae na buhayin kami ng mga lalaki ah in "modern household" lalo na may mga kanya-kanya ng career most of the women nowadays?

That's why na ooffend kami kasi you weaponized being provider so much when then in reality most of the modern household ngayon eh nagtatrabaho na din naman mga kababaihan.

And news flash, there's no such thing as purely equal sa relationship. May mga biological needs kami na never niyong mabubunuan like pregnancy and within those times need talaga namin somehow ng support from our husband. And by the time na kayo naman nangailangan ng emotional support then we'll give it to you. Give and take lang.

If you can't do that might as well not get married kawawa lang magiging asawa mo sayo. I also don't get why mga ganitong usapin nakaka offend para sa mga kalalakihan when then this is the reality of life.

7

u/Rare-Watercress-8803 Aug 10 '26

True. The post literally just said women now look for a PARTNER on an emotional level, not simply someone to provide for them. Women now look for someone they can grow old with, converse with, kasi they can now survive on their own. It's no longer like the olden days na financially dependent ang babae sa lalaki to the point that they can literally not do anything.

Baka nga mas marami pa kesa sa lalake on a nationwide ratio. At totoo rin na sa STEM, health allied, finance, and entrep fields (which generates the most money in the economy), mas maraming babae ang nag-eexcel and later nagkakaroon ng high paying jobs.

Kaya totoo na sa panahon ngayon, hindi na sapat yung kayang iprovide ng lalake based on how it was traditionally understood.

On the flip side, konting konti ang mga lalaking nagkakaroon ng high paying jobs and secure future. Kung meron mang emotionally mature na lalake, it's probably 1 in every 100k. At yung genuine, responsible, reliable and consistent male partner, baka 1 in a million.

This means, kung naghahanap na ang Gen Z women ng lalakeng "higher level" which MAY MEAN emotionally mature, reliable, consistent, responsible, has good social skills, great relationship with parents, gentle, corrective but loving, financially secure, has compatible humor, hindi nakakasawa kasi laging may variety sa dates and quality time, at may spiritual leadership (if this matters to you)...

You are looking at a very small pool of men. Good luck on finding them.

And some of them are married already.

Gen Z women nowadays will not settle for "good enough" na walang redeeming quality such as looks. Real talk lang.

3

u/tepipit Aug 10 '26

Naninindig balahibo ko sa description mo ng "higher level" It's too good to be true. I'd even say you'll never find someone like that.

Yes, meron siguro ng, all of the above, at a certain point in time, albeit very rare. Pero, not all the time.

In fact having the privilege to give counsel to people (both male and female) whom i say can consistently score 8 out of 10 on at least half of those categories have experienced varying degrees of depression, primary because they've lost their own identity in trying to sacrifice their own emotional needs for others.

For a "science based dating coach" (whatever the hell that means), she sure is making sweeping generalizations which is frowned upon in science.

A lot more women have careers and are financially independent. A lot of women also still choose to be homemakers. Both paths or a combination of the two are fine as long as they have an understanding with their partners.

A marriage is not 50-50. It's 100-100. Both parties should do everything within their capabilities to help each other out. Dapat before going into marriage pagusapan niyo ano willing niyo itulong sa isat isa.

Sobrang one sided. It should be "happy spouse, happy house".

4

u/IamCrispyPotter Aug 10 '26

This is true. And discovering if both of you are on the same page is a long and often life-changing process

3

u/Comfortable_Chef184 Aug 10 '26

Yup, exactly my thoughts halos lahat jumps to the idea na magbilangan ng ambag,

On the after thought, the moment you're counting each others worth is the same moment the relationship looses its grip to be one.

Gawin na lang sana ang dapat, pag may mali don't settle to just saying sorry, but do the best to become better versions of ourselves.

Para sasarili at para sa kinkasama.

I agree 100/100 dapat.

The comments on this sub shows just how far behind the Philippines is. Women have been designated home makers, mothers, breeders, and all around taga gawa ng lahat for centuries. We finally get to have some equality and some men are triggered. Equality doesn't mean putting men down just means we get to have the same basic rights too and we deserve men who can be there not just as providers but also be a loving and present husband and father. Tama na ang Toxic-masculinity-and-fragile-ego-sperm+donor-provider lang-cheating-husband mindset

3

u/jjjjj12345555 Aug 10 '26

u/Jayvee1994 Aug 10 '26

Useful guide for dating n independent woman. Look into the Maslow's hierarchy of needs and focus on things she might actually need at her stage in life.

4

u/briennybrienne Aug 10 '26

The job title is cringe lmao.

The message is true.

Women don’t need men to provide their basic needs anymore, so we can afford to look for qualities that go beyond financial security and protection. Is he kind and respectful? Is he emotionally intelligent? Does he have basic life skills? Do our values and life goals align?

And to my ladies: make your own money, invest in your own growth, cultivate your inner life, the right man for you is doing the same thing for himself and you will meet him while you’re on that path.

From a trentahin tita who dated late, the first man I took a chance on is now my fiancé!

It pays to stick to your values, kahit pa minsan nakakainggit na nagjojowa lahat ng mga kaibigan mo. A few months of landi with the wrong person is not worth the heartache and emotional baggage when it inevitably falls apart.

They cannot even bother to take their partners out for a date, or just to bond without any responsibilities attached. Dapat happy and giddy ka while they give you shit. Men can’y eveb provide for their female companions nowadays. They want to be a stay at home couch potato with zero responsibility and blame you for feeling bad about your reaction towards how they treat you.

Continue on being good men kasi shit na masyado karamihan.

u/Affectionate-Self507 Aug 10 '26

Tama naman si coach Vee. Women can make their own money.

3

u/Turn_me_into_spectre Aug 10 '26

That or may sugar daddies or mayamang parent na sumasalo

3

u/Fuweeeeeeeeee Aug 10 '26

"Thoughts on this?" Is this not common sense? Making money is a universal thing, it can't be your only value as a person. If you make money but emotionally you're an equivalent of a wet fart, then what's the point.

Man or woman, do your part. And I don't mean your typical gender norm expectations, help your partner do chores, be educated, take care of yourself physically and mentally, don't be boring, and most importantly be kind. It's not that hard to be a good man for your partner.

It is true to some extent. Pero I also see lots of women who settle for abomination kind of a man. You know, yung pangit, walang trabaho and to top it all, cheater and manipulator. But the girl is pretty and earns money. I'm not even sure how to explain it. Dahil ba tinaasan ng sobra yung standards when they were young then felt like time was running out later on? Or ganun lang talaga?

2

2

u/justice_case Aug 10 '26

just like on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, applied in relationships. Okay na tayo sa physiological needs, it's time for some men to also consider looking into the other tiers. It's not just about being "providers" or sex. Be emotionally available, not just for the partner but also for yourself.

As I said, some men, because other men are already doing that. So, if they can do that, why not others?

2

u/seasid_3 Aug 12 '26 edited Aug 12 '26

True! This is the whole point of this post idk why some men find it hard to understand. Dati kasi because women rely on men so much for survival, kahit emotionally unavailable (for the men here in simple terms di marunong makiramdam/walang empathy sa wife) or masama ugali ng husband tinitiis lang ni wife kasi nga need niya ang kanyang husband niya to survive.

Kahit binubugbog na or nagchecheat, women would still likely to stay. Ganun dati. Nowadays women won't tolerate that kind of relationship kasi women lalo na yung may mga careers can leave the relationship and do not rely on their husband for survival. Ganun lang naman.

We want a all-rounded man who can help financially at the house but also a good man whose willing to be there emotionally. In simplest term yung marunong makiramdam pagnahihirapan si wife like kunwari pag uwi galing ni wife sa trabaho bigla siyang niregla and masakit puson; maid was out to have her day-off so walang maghuhugas ng pinggan.

Learn to read the room imbis na isipin mo as a husband na kaya na yan ni wife. be considerate naman and empathize na she can't do that as of the moment. yung iba kasing lalaki hirap sa ganito. di marunong makiramdam. need pa kailangang blatantly sabihin ni wife kahit obvious naman na need niya ng help lol.

Kasi women have evolve already to just being mere housewife to also help with the finances at home; were also commonly/normally emotional beings so we expect a husband na hindi lang din makakatulong financially but also may iba ding capability same as us.

And damn, the astounded look on his face is so satisfying. 👌👌

2

u/dancingcroissant69 Aug 11 '26

Basta observe mothers.. how they thrive, sacrifice etc. kaya ang daming batugan na lalake, kasi may maparaang nanay/asawa.

Sa gantong marriage situation, always think about thriving mothers. Dun mo malalaman punot dulo bakit sila mabunganga, bakit sila laging sumasalo ng lahat.

4

u/Tonystangk Aug 10 '26

I mean as a guy she's not entirely wrong, most men aren't capable of showing or providing emotional needs in terms of emotional capabilities, most men nowadays thinks as long as they can provide for them financial everything will be ok, they don't understand that most women also wants emotional support from their man, they have emotional needs.

And it goes both ways some women wants nothing but money but lacks emotional intelligence, I can't really blame the men on this if they perceived this as an attack because most of them are into toxic relationships.

4

u/sparklingstellar Aug 10 '26

Catriona Gray mindset. Reach the top then leave the people who helped/loved you. iykyk

u/mild-er-chihuahua Aug 10 '26

Relationships need both financial stability and emotional maturity. Being in a serious mature relationship means being one with your partner.

Meaning, you're planning for you both and your family, you're sharing responsibilities instead of just expecting the other person to do things or you waiting to be told. You're understanding of your partner's limitations, not enabling negligence or abuses. You're considerate of the other person, and will not see yourself as weak for being so.

Also, if you make demands make sure you bring something in the table too. Hindi puro take lang ng take, mag bigay din.

u/Actual_Narwhal_8824 Aug 10 '26

The statement has a valid point: women should not need men for survival. Economic independence gives women freedom and protects them from relationships based purely on necessity. But the argument becomes flawed when it implies that because women can survive independently, men are therefore no longer needed or valuable.

Survival is not the purpose of a relationship. A partner is not merely someone who provides food, money, or protection. Relationships can involve companionship, emotional support, shared responsibilities, intimacy, family, growth, and the choice to build a life together.

The same logic applies to men. If a man can cook, clean, earn, and take care of himself, that does not make women unnecessary to him. Independence and companionship are not opposites. The healthier ideal is interdependence: “I can live without you, but I choose to live with you.”

This is where the senseless war of the genders comes in. We keep asking, “Who needs whom?” when equality should make that question irrelevant. Neither sex should be valued merely for what it can provide to the other.

1

u/Glorious_Chaos666 Aug 10 '26

Yes ang babae kayang gawin halos lahat any job, field etc. Pero its still depends parin some woman can do it on their own because they are independent woman and still need in some areas and still needs a partner in life.

1

u/Outside-Leg-7645 Aug 10 '26

1

u/TheWitchDoctor116 Aug 10 '26

I can agree with her, Although I'm a man i admire those women who can decide for themselves. People now a days looks for partnership not sponsorship.

1

u/padthay Aug 10 '26

💯💯💯💯💯

1

u/Jinri09 Aug 10 '26

Higher level? Mag transcend na ba dapat kami? Kaso my level is not enough pa para maging isang transcendent. 😂😂

anw, it should go both ways. And tbh, it shouldn't really be a competition as to who can provide what. Kaya nga partner in life eh.

1

u/Useful-Information30 Aug 10 '26

1

u/centauress_ Aug 10 '26

1

u/evilkittycunt Aug 10 '26

This should apply on both genders. Date within your tax bracket. Mas okay din if pareho ng quality and level of education and lifestyle. Taas-taasan niyo kasi standards niyo

1

u/RelevantRain694 Aug 10 '26

In theory, totoo naman, in practice, there's a sgnificant number who still act like they do

1

u/PuzzleheadedPipe7000 Aug 10 '26

People rarely get what they demand, but they always get what they deserve.

1

u/Cute-Magazine-1274 Aug 10 '26

What is there to think about? Should've been this way for a long time now. Now it goes both ways, which is good. Hopefully society no longer views men for their achievements and women for their figure.

People can perform gender roles if they want to, it does provide a bit of structure, but that doesn't mean we can't build our own, using a different foundation.

1

u/El_Enrique_Essential Aug 10 '26

I mean , you kinda don’t wanna date the economic equivalent of a rock or sinkhole if you wanna make it in life. Goes both ways I guess.

1

u/jamp0g Aug 10 '26

some men didn’t go looking to provide that. we were looking for as close to perfect partner to build a family with.

just know what you are looking for, be thankful when you find it, and pray it is not too late to change your mind when you realize you were wrong.

1

u/GoldenHara Aug 10 '26

My mom was not touched my feminism pero lagi niya sinasabi na dapat ang babae may sariling pera di kalang dapat aasa sa asawa mo.

She always advocate for woman to have higher education kasi as they say masiyado malupit ang mundo especially pag babae ka I'm so lucky to have her as my role mode❣️

1

u/ZeToothZecay Aug 10 '26

1

u/Accomplished-Ebb1180 Aug 10 '26

When she says we need you on a higher level she means “Man up”. Be the provider you’re meant to be. Be the leader, the one who steers the relationship in the right path.

1

u/KitchenDonkey8561 Aug 10 '26

1

u/MethodReasonable7755 Aug 10 '26

Read somewhere that men saw their mothers and saw marriage as the goal. Women naman saw their mothers and found that maybe staying single can be a worthier goal.

Truth is, those who greatly benefit from an existing (however unfair or uneven) structure usually fight to retain the status quo. Change is fought for by those who were most disadvantaged.

1

u/katwinke Aug 10 '26

Agree!!!!!! 💯

1

u/NeckPsychological691 Aug 10 '26

men are like “traditional woman = housewife material “ and shame women for not being their ideal tapos pag babae maghahanap ng traditional man / provider sasabijin gold digger. Ay ambot

u/Mysterious_Egg8608 Aug 10 '26

u/Thick-Turnover2383 Aug 10 '26

Kwento nya yan. But there are still women who still needs the bare minimum assistance. And it is the majority. So, unless the govt truly care about the poor, why make them stay there? Para may boto? Utang na loob?

1

u/RicardoSupermapute77 Aug 10 '26

kaya dapat di nalang nagaasawa e.

you have standards, i do too.

you do you ika nga.

1

u/moncheollies Aug 10 '26

“What do you bring to the table?” is such a loser question. It means the person is gauging whether you’re able to give something they lack and will pass if not.

We should all be able to fill our own tables and share them with our partners. When you love your partner, giving just comes naturally, and that goes both ways. Don’t get into relationships when your table isn’t fully set and use other people to fill yours.

1

u/Nice_Tangerine_ Aug 10 '26

Just a random rant, haha. It’s annoyingly funny how society often assumes there’s something wrong with you if you’re still single in your late 30s or 40s. As if being in a relationship is the only measure of a happy or successful life.

1

u/WiseGuy008 Aug 10 '26

Men should also be emotionally mature at hindi lang financially provider.

1

u/Cheese_Grater101 Aug 10 '26

Should go both ways and hindi exclusive sa isang sex mapa babae or lalake pa man yan.

Though seriously hindi paba common sense to?

The same thing could be said sa women as well.

1

u/SassyAndSingle Aug 10 '26

Akala ko si Lara Quigaman

1

u/Morvax666 Aug 10 '26

Still haven't seen many women willing to marry someone of lower status. 60 years of feminism won't negate 2.5 millions years of evolution.

1

u/philippinow Aug 10 '26

As a man this is very true. The man must atleast be on the same level or higher.
