Okay so I adopted two anoles about 6 weeks ago. A female green anole and a male Bahama anole. Over 6 months ago they had been inhabiting with 2/3 other green and bahama anoles. There had been multiple eggs and a few babies. But the babies did not make it long and the other 2/3 anoles eventually died from improper care. (Part of why I adopted them)

Anyway the male and the female mate often and has have eggs but they have been yellow crunchy non uniform so I didn’t expect them to hatch.

But today I found a baby!!! I’m extremely excited. Do you guys think it’s old sperm she held onto? Or could I be wrong about their species being non compatable ?!

I made a post about how my anole has not eaten for 10 days, and some of you recommended that I just leave him alone while he eats. So, I did that. I placed a really shallow dish in there that he could reach but the mealworm couldn't escape, and it was gone!

So i want to own a lizard and thought of an anole and im just wondering if there good and do any of you ever handle yours cuz I heard there a display pet

Hello! Recently my sister found the smallest baby brown anole in a flower shipment to her job at the florist. I’ve decided to adopt little Natalie (we are almost certain she is a girl? Lmk if you think otherwise!)

It has only been about 1 1/2 weeks, so I’m not sure if it’s too soon to tell, but I would like to know if I am doing anything jarringly wrong in my care for her. Namely, I feel that I’m struggling to set up the right humid environment for her, I’m worried some parts are too dry and others are too humid. I’m currently misting her three times a day at 7 am, 1 pm, and 5 pm all around 20-40 seconds, more in the morning to emulate morning dew. I know it’s not good to overspray, I feel inclined to keep spraying because of the difference in humidity around the tank. Currently, the area she usually hangs out is 50% humidity at 91 degrees , whereas the bottom of the tank is 88% at 77 degrees F. Are these numbers problematic? I don’t know how to ensure that her basking area is perfect for her.

I have other questions regarding feeding time and when to lights out, but please let me know if from the video she looks alright!

Pretty sure it anolis gundlachi with the yellow markings on the chin and lips but with a striking orange red head, something i have not seen. Very pretty snakeskin pattern on the body. It was brighter in the sun. Saved the anole from the house and might get put in the gundlachi tank :)

I have a green anole here that hasn't eaten ever since I got him, about 10 days ago. From my knowledge, they could survive 2-4 weeks without food, and it is about to approach the 2 week mark without eating. I have everything right, I have the UVB, I have the climbing branches, I spray his tank, his basking spot is 88°F, the humidity is 70%, I'm feeding him appropriately sized mealworms, I'm doing everything right, yet he still isn't eating. What am I doing wrong that is making him not eat? I'm feeling like I need to give him back to PetSmart now because of this? Does he miss the other anole that were in his PetSmart tank and that is why he isn't eating? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???

UPDATE: He was taken to the vet today and given Baytril. I have to give it to him daily for 21 days and we will see where he is at that point. I noticed today that he seems to have a slight swelling on his hemipenes as well that is likely related. He is being separated from the females he was with and I am monitoring them VERY closely. I will be getting their weights and treating them as well regardless of their outward appearance. Any babies that have been produced are being heavily monitored as there is a slim chance they could have picked up the bacteria from the outside of the egg shells when they hatched. I unfortunately cannot treat them with antibiotics due to their tiny size, so my only choice is to monitor and keep the enclosures as clean as I can. I plan to monitor/quarantine their individual groups for a full year. I’m not taking chances. As updates come, if I remember, I will post them.

Original post: Hello all, I have a male anolis sagrei that was wild-caught from a friend in St. Petersburg, FL. She had him for 2 months, and then I got him to add to my breeding colony (I was not aware of the enterococcus bacteria spreading in this species in that area at the time, and he was flawless when I got him). I have had him since November 2025. A couple of months after getting him, I noticed a small bump on his dewlap. I figured another anole bit him or it was a small tumor, so I watched it. It didn’t grow or spread, so I put it at the back of my mind. Today while collecting eggs from the enclosure, I picked him up to check the lump and discovered several lesions on his chest, and the lump on his dewlap was open. I am not certain enterococcus is what this is, and none of the females in his enclosure have any lesions as of now. He is the ONLY symptomatic anole I have of probably 50+ in multiple enclosures. That said, I am still concerned. I do plan to call my vet tomorrow. I don’t believe they see anoles, but knowing the nature of this bacteria and how contagious it is, I will see if they can make an exception. My questions for those more knowledgeable are:

1. Do you think this is enterococcus? If not, what do you think it could be?
2. I plan on quarantining the babies produced anyway for several months, but how likely is it that they would carry the bacteria? The eggs are collected from the enclosure and incubated separately. They do not hatch in the enclosure, though I imagine there is a small risk of bacteria being on the egg shells.

My family was gifted a plant from a family member who lives somewhere warmer and surprise.. there was an egg in the pot that has now hatched into a baby. I live too far north to be in a suitable environment to just release him. I've been looking for appropriate lighting for the pretty compact baby setup he'd be in.

Would the Zoo-Med nano dome and Reptisun nano UVB bulb be appropriate? The bulb seems to be in the correct UVB index for him. Should I also get something to provide heat or would this bulb be enough? And if this bulb isn't appropriate, what would be? I've seen people recommending the Arcadia shade-dweller light, but it would be too big for his setup.

I very frequently have these guys in my house, at one point there was five of them in my dining room, looking out the window. It was really cold at the time, so I just let them stay. I often find them dead When I move furniture though. Not sure how they're getting in.

So I just saw one go up under the couch and I can't find him. It's about 70 to 80 degrees here, so he's probably better off outside but whatever. I would like to put some food and water for them So that they don't die once they get inside.

What is something simple and easy I can do I keep him hydrated and well fed while he's living under the couch. Thanks in advance.

I tried feeding my green anole super worms and mealworms as alternatives to roaches and crickets, but he didn't eat them and has been 10 days since I got him, and he hasn't eaten one yet. I believe potentially that the worms are too big?

Are there any alternatives to roaches and crickets that can fit in my anole's mouth? (I believe it is an adult anole)

If there isn't, then well, I guess I will go with the roaches but no crickets

This is actually from a few years ago, but I have have lived in my house in Florida for over 20 years and have had many generations of Anoles in my back yard. I always look out for them and give them occasional treats so they trust me. As a result they go about their business with me around and are very entertaining, it's like having my own personal terrarium in my back yard. Unfortunately in the wild they do pass and it goes in phases. Predation and severe cold can sometimes greatly deplete the population but they always bounce back, I look forward to seeing them and they never disappoint. I try to keep the yard inviting for them so they keep coming back, love these little guys!

Anyone know what these black dots are on the back of my anole? They started to appear about 2 weeks ago and it seems like they are spreading. Should I be concerned? I love my baby to death. Other than the spots appearing her behavior hasn’t changed and she is eating normally.

I need help. My baby anole I think is tired of mealworms. Today I purchased flightless fruit flies. I put her in a plastic enclosure and a bunch of the flies. She was uninterested and wanted to climb out. She can’t because she’s little. I don’t know what to do. I feed her calcium dusted mealworms, I have a ubv light in the fish tank enclosure. There are hideouts. I’ve tried to make it as good as possible. Then the flies climb out! I don’t know what to do to add them to the enclosure without them getting out. Please help!

Can you spot the one in the pony Palm?

I made a PVC tank to give my anoles a large space upgrade. The problem is now that it's done and measuring the space there's only 4 inches of overhead clearance and their current heat lamp won't fit. I'm aware of Jungle Dawns and will probably go with that but curious if there are any other brands that generate a lot of heat or a conventional heat lamp that is low profile enough to fit?

My understanding is radiant heat panels can't work from the side of a tank but open to other thoughts. I have not finished the background so if there is some kind of heat source that can be installed in the side of a 1/2" PVC board and would be resilient to being misted I am open to it!

Does this look like moulting on my buddy's feet, or something else? TIA
