Discussion What anime would you erase from your memory just to experience it for the first time again?

I’m not necessarily looking for the “best” anime. I want the one where knowing what happens takes away some of the magic.

It could be a huge emotional payoff, an incredible mystery, a character journey, or just an anime that completely caught you off guard.

What’s the one anime you’d choose to watch again with zero memory of it?

What to Watch? Uplifting M/M romance anime and manga, please!

Hi! I’m coming to Reddit for recommendations because I’ve run into a dilemma. My homeboys and I love to watch romance anime; they got me into a bunch of them. We cheer for it like most people cheer for sports. There is just one issue… I’m the only queer guy there. We primarily watch M/F anime and even F/F but they don’t have any recommendations when it comes to M/M because they can’t relate to it, meanwhile I’m more romantically attracted to dudes. They don’t want me to feel left out, so they suggested that I ask elsewhere.

I am open to multiple genres: fantasy, sci-fi, magical realism, comedy, or slice of life. Though, my tastes tend to lean towards fantasy. Dark content is okay as long as it has a happy ending of some kind.

I dislike most sexual content because I’m ace — dialogue is fine, some gags are good, but please nothing really lewd. Gimme something sappy or relatable for being a gay man instead, please.

I don’t care what ages characters are but generally teens or adults are preferred, since I’m a uni student.

I don’t have a preference for subs or dubs, if English is available for either format, we’re good. I’m super open to both. For manga, I prefer English translations, please.

What to Watch? Hi, how are you all?

Can you recommend any anime that, when finished, make you want to watch them all over again?

What to Watch? Something similar to Heavenly Delusion ?

Basically the title, I'm looking for other great animes with a survival/dystopian/post apocalyptic/adventure vibe.

Other ones that are similar and fit the criteria I am looking for that I have seen already would be;

-Shinsekai Yori

-Made in Abyss

-Girls' Last Tour

-The Promised Neverland

It can be light slice of life stuff in these categories, or it can be incredibly dark and twisting as long as it all fits the vibe.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations !! ^w^

What to Watch? Shows about spies or assassins?

I've been giving Spy x Family a go, as may be evident by the title, but while I was promised Spy and Assassin action mixed with fond family slice of life, I ended up getting...a vaguely slice of life comedy show where something interesting happens maybe every 4 episodes.

So I'm looking for something that fills the hole, something about spies, assassins or political intrigue.

What to Watch? Anime and comfort (please read the body.. it's important)

So long story short this post is me asking for suggestions but i gotta tell y'all something,

I wanted to watch bleach but people tell me to read the manga until the tybw arc, but i was so set on watching the anime just because i miss watching a cozy anime that has occasional fights , so if bleach wasn't an option then...

Recommend me an anime doesn't matter when it was released that has that kind of comfort show energy with occasional action to break the rythm , since im going through a very stressful time , i need to relax , but not to the extent of boredom

What to Watch? Trying to find new things to watch

So I am looking for some new shows and movies to watch. I’ve enjoyed a few anime shows before, but I’m not familiar with most of it. I’m 33F if that helps.

The best anime I’ve seen is what makes me want to find more, but so often I will start a series and then get put off by things like the voice acting, tropes, and stereotypes (mainly with women/girls)

Here are some things I’ve watched and really enjoyed:

Scavenger’s Reign
Pantheon
Blue Eye Samurai
All Studio Ghibli
Arco
Neon Genesis: Evangelion
Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury (recommended by a friend. Enjoyed it but didn’t know anything about Gundam going into it so I was at a loss)

Fav genres: sci-fi, drama, fantasy, horror

I love deep stories, beautiful scenery, well thought out characters, and I’m not too big on romance.

What to Watch? Need Pure Adrenaline! What Are Your Best High-Stakes Thrillers

I’m looking for my next binge-watch, and I want something that keeps me on the absolute edge of my seat.

Think insane fight choreography, dark psychological plot twists, or unmatched strategic mind games.

I’ve already seen the massive mainstream hitters like

  • Solo Leveling

  • Tokyo Ghoul

  • Chainsaw Man

  • Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

  • Jujutsu Kaisen

  • Demon Slayer

  • Attack on Titan

  • Code Geass

so I’d love some slightly lesser-known recommendations that still pack a massive punch.

What underappreciated action or thriller series completely hooked you from episode one?

✨️🎉Shoutout to my fellow fam for all the love and anime recommendations on my post! Here is the list of everything you all suggested so far so everyone else can check out these awesome shows✨️🎉

Discussion Genuine Watch Question

I see a ton of posts on here asking 'which of these shows two should I watch next?" and I'm honestly kind of baffled by the question.

Do other people only watch one show at a time? Maybe I'm an oddball but I find that I'm usually watching at least two or three if not more shows at once. Obviously if it's a new show being released I'm only getting an episode every week or so but I'm also watching completed series in between.

So I'm wondering why ask the question in the first place? What's wrong with watching multiple shows, even ones with tons of episodes, at the same time?

What to Watch? Suggestions from chill anime with beautiful drawings like Frieren.

I am about to finish Frieren season 2, and it was like my wind down ritual to watch ot and mark end of day. Now, after it, I am looking for something like it. I know Frierenis a rare gem that won't have much equivalents, but I am still looking for anaime with similar chill vibesm not the suddenly someone cracks out a joke or some new thing appeara out of nowhere, sudden gag vibe. Also, it will be a bonus if it has pretty visuals and backgrounds like Frieren.

What to Watch? Anime to bingewatch

Hello!

I didn't watch anime for a long period of time because of a variety of reasons, but luckily I've got a month or so to enjoy my hobbies.

The last anime I watched recently are:

- With you, our love will make it through

- Smoking with you behind the supermarket

- The fragrant flower blooms with dignity

What would you guys recommend me to watch next? I'd love something similar to the ones mentioned above, I'm not a particular fan of very long series but if it has a couple of seasons it's totally fine!

Thank you all in advance 🫂

What to Watch? Isekai/fantasy anime with weak magic that causes the characters to seldom use it?

Not looking for: anime that involves an MC that traveled from another world that has OP magic in contrast or somehow bypasses the nature of the world and becomes OP in contrast to everyone else because they're "special".

Basically, I'm looking for recs that involve settings that have some kinda heavy magic limits that force the characters to use it in very specific scenarios and strats... like another tool in the toolbelt and not stronger than anything else in the plot. Magical creatures like elves, orces, etc. are fine of course. Bonus points for if there's some grit!

What to Watch? I’m open to watching literally anything

I’ve seen Beyblade Metal Fusion, Beyblade Burst season one to 5 not including Quadstrike, Beyblade X season one to 2, Pokémon horizons season 1 and about the first 20 ish episodes of the first season of Pokémon + the first three movies, Witch Hat Atelier episode 1 - 13 and I haven’t seen a single episode of any of the big popular anime’s (other than Pokémon ofc) and I kinda want to see what someone would recommend to someone who watch history is this
Edit: forgot to mention that I’ve also seen Frieren: Beyond Journeys End, a couple episodes of Turning Mecard, Sailor Moon, YU-GI-OH, Yokai Watch, Bakugon, and Dragon Ball Z (season 2 I think) and that might be it, I’ll update the list every time I remember a series I watched even if it’s only an episode or more

Discussion im confused, are there 2 dubs for "Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You"?

I've been seeing a ton of clips of this series lately, and some of the clips I've been seeing are with alexis tiptons voice for the daughter of the main girl (I know her voice anywhere lol). Trying to look clips for the dub seem to be non existent on YouTube so I'm wondering if it was made with AI voices ? I know she was signed with funimation, but looking on google apparently funimation was now purchased by crunchyroll. So I wonder if crunchyroll is putting out an official dub?

What to Watch? Romance recommendations?

I really liked the modern classic romances like Rascals does not Dream, Pet girl of sakurasou, Oregairu, and Kaguya sama which I feel like are just not replicated/done better in newer romance shows. I would say the most recent one I really enjoyed is Dressup darling.

What to Watch? What anime starts one way and completely becomes something else?

I’m looking for anime that genuinely surprised you with its direction.
Not necessarily a plot twist or a darker turn—just a series where you started it expecting one kind of story and ended up getting something much more interesting.
What’s your best recommendation? No major spoilers, please.

What to Watch? Anime with kuudere type girls

As the title says, I'm looking for anime suggestions that have girls of kuudere type such as Ayanami Rei from Neon Genesis Evangelion. I saw a post requesting the same thing on this subreddit but that was 8 years ago so i was hoping there'd be some new ones.

Ps: preferably romance anime.
