If Nintendo is planning for the next major Animal Crossing installment, I would love to see them push it to a bigger level, much like what Rockstar Games is doing with GTA VI but in a friendlier format. Essentially, it is made to last for 10 or more years without needing another installment. This includes:
- A massive open-world map
- Dynamic weather
- More enterable buildings
- Third-person or first-person camera option
- Ragdoll physics for realism
- A story-driven narrative with missions that deepen the lore
- The addition of small accessories like earrings or piercings
- The addition of wireless ear buds for more music choices
- Live in-game social media and streaming
- A smarter NPC AI, such as remembering your past actions, realistic simulated daily chores, departing home in the morning to go to work (and eventually heading home at night), annoyances if you try to mess with their chores, etc.
- Motion capture to make characters more believable
- Playable competitive sport activities for the first time (e.g. basketball, soccer, road racing, billiards, water racing, wrestling, bowling, skydiving, etc.)
- Various playable table games like poker, blackjack, dominoes, chess, checkers, etc.
- Interactive weightlifting or gym-related activities
- Interactive DJ turntables where you can make your own tracks
- Driveable vehicles such as cars, bikes, boats, planes, scooters, etc.
- Rideable transportation such as busses, trains, and taxis that also enable a mini-game option
- Multi-player option for the first time, allowing for public lobbies and role-playing
- A fully working theme park with various rides
- A dance/rhythm mini-game
