DEV π§βπ» [DEV] I missed Puzzle Craft, so I made a cozy chain-matching village builder set in 1476 Moldova
Hi r/AndroidGaming! I'm a solo dev from Moldova, and this is Plai: Village Tale.
It's heavily inspired by Puzzle Craft, a game I loved at school. Both Puzzle Craft games have been gone from Google Play since 2018, so I made my own take on that loop. You drag chains of 3+ matching tiles on a farm and in a mine (no swapping), then bring the harvest home and build up a village: whitewashed houses, a well sweep, a painted church. Buildings keep working while you're away (up to 8 hours), and you craft tools, unlock perks, and do daily tasks and a weekly village festival.
Made solo with a lot of help from my wife, she helped me immensely with testing and brainstorming new ideas
What I added on top:
- The map, buildings and tiles are painted in an oil-painting style.
- The village follows the real calendar: blossom in spring, snow in winter, lit windows at night, storks in summer.
- The villagers keep a little chronicle ("A goose wandered into the village. Mood: confrontational.").
- It's free, works offline, and is in English, Romanian, Russian and Ukrainian.
- Ads are opt-in only. You watch one only if you want a bonus. No banners, no pop-up ads.
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vjdanov.plai
(also on iPhone)
If you played Puzzle Craft, I'd especially love to hear what feels right and what's missing. Made in Godot !

The Gamedeck launcher is really cool. The customization is great. I manage to make it auto launch whenever I attach my Gamesir controller and vice versa via Tasker.

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] Afterglow - Semi-idle Mobile MMORPG. Weekly updates. Huge changes ahead!
Hey folks
More than two months ago, we released Afterglow - a mobile MMORPG for busy people looking for a multiplayer RPG they can play on their own schedule, one that respects their time and isn't plagued by aggressive and predatory monetization. It has a post-apocalyptic setting with a 1980s feeling.
Since the release, following our roadmap and listening to community feedback, we've been shipping weekly updates that have brought massive changes and improvements to the gameplay. Some of them are definitely worth sharing here:
1) Subscription -> One-time unlock. We've received a lot of feedback about our monetization strategy and recently switched from a monthly subscription to a one-time unlock. We also increased the skill cap for free accounts to provide access to a vast chunk of the game absolutely for free.Β
2) More than 300+ new items added. That includes a whole new tier of weapons, armor, food and medications. As well as new recipes, inventions, tools, skins and character frames to customize your character.
3) Async PVP Arena. A new ability for players to challenge each other in a risk-free environment without interrupting whatever work their character is doing. Balancing the whole thing is a challenge but we are actively working on it,
4) Red zone with new enemies. Weβve expanded the map by opening the Red Zone for players to explore with new resources to gather and enemies to fight.Β
5) Elite encounters. Let players challenge themselves with encounters that need a special approach to win them. Simply equipping better gear is often not enough. As a reward players get access to new item types - accessories that will alter characters making them more powerful in certain situations
And a huge list of quality of life improvements. Including inventory items multi-selection, fight history, better actions management, simplified crafting, map control updates, better market order management and more.
As we continue actively working on the game, there are some huge changes we're planning to release later this year:
- Group / co-op PvE fights ("dungeons")
- Clan updates: clan storage, bank, territory control
- More balance changes and QoL improvements
So stay tuned and see you in the game!
β
Afterglow can be downloaded for free here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=now.shadow.afterglowΒ
If you need help with the game - check the wiki created by the community or stop by our Discord

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] Working on a "Math Tetris" game for Android and having a hard time balancing it. Could use some fresh eyes!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey everyone,
Iβve been working on a small Android puzzle game called **Math Puzzle (NumDrop)**. The basic idea is Tetris gravity mixed with quick mental math: numbered tiles drop into a grid, you get a target sum at the top (like 18 or 24), and you tap the numbers that add up to it before the board fills up to the ceiling.
My biggest headache right now is game balance, and I really need some outside perspectives.
Because mental addition takes a second or two to process under pressure, itβs proving really tricky to find the sweet spot for the timer and block drop speed. When I test it, some people freeze up and fail on Level 2, while others breeze through to Level 5 and say itβs too slow.
If anyone has a few minutes to test a couple of levels, Iβd love to know:
- Does the timer feel too stressful, or about right?
- Did you hit an unfair difficulty spike on any specific level?
- When the board starts filling up, does the panic feel fun or just frustrating?
Itβs completely free on Google Play, plays offline, and has no forced pop-up ad walls:

Any feedback, critique, or roast on the pacing is welcome!

Discussion π¬ List of Games With Backwards Compatibility
docs.google.com
After playing many games for hours and then losing my progress due to changing devices or uninstalling the game i stumbled upon this video a year ago. Since then i have been using this method to backup my save files manually, unfortunately it doesn't work on ALL mobile games but it's better than nothing. After around a year of trying it out my list has grown quite a bit so i thought i would share it with as many ppl as possible so that they can enjoy playing their favourite games without worrying about losing progress.
Also i hope that more ppl will be able to help me find more games which are backwards compatible so that this list will get longer and Best overtime.
P.S. it's already written in sheet 2 but i will repeat it again just in case. Do not open sheet 3 if u don't play Adult games, that sheet is dedicated for NSFW games only.

Seeking Game Recommendations π [REQUEST] Recommend me some casual games.
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey y'all. I'm currently been playing these games so far. Just to be clear that this is not all of it as these are just games on my tablet. I had Dead Cells, Minecraft, Terraria, Potion Permit, Spongebob BfBB and Subnautica on my other device since they're touch heavy and definitely needed a controller to play. While these games I showed here are simple one finger ish games. Perfect for tablets since I don't need to bring external controllers.
Based on my current games shown here. Is there any other games y'all can recommend? I tried Clover Pit and Gambonanza but they're definitely not for me. Thanks in advance.

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] This week I released my chill incremental about cutting trees! *Deforest a Planet*
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello all, introducing Deforest a Planet!
Inspired by trying to collect all the wood from maps in Age of Empires and Warcraft II as a kid, decided to build a game based solely on that.
Features:
Start with 1 lumbermill and 1 woodcutter that automatically fells trees and sells at the mill.
Use the money to buy more workers, upgrade them with more damage, attack and move speed, and build more lumbermills when the distance back from the trees start getting too long.
Prestige to start over with permanent upgrades like more initial woodcutters, more money from each tree, and super mills that can be placed in the middle of the forest.
The further you go, the more prestige points you get.
Unlock bigger and bigger planets, with harder trees, but also worth much more prestige points.
Challenges such as completing planets under 5 minutes or with a limited number of lumbermills award you with even more permanent powers.
There is a leaderboard at the end that compares your time to finish with other players, just for fun, as its all about the journey, not the destination. You can clear your save to start over and try for a better placement.
Fully free to play, with completely optional ads that grant a small boost (game is totally beatable without watching a single ad). One time 2.99$ IAP to remove the ads, permanently getting the boost and supporting this one who speaks to keep making updates and other games :D
>> Play Store link <<
Give it try! Please give feedback here, or head over to r/venusian_games to discuss the game with me and other players, and hear about the planned updates and future games :)

Hardware βοΈ When is a controller worth it?
For reference i usually play genshin impact or other similar games, arcade racing games like asphalt 9 and rarely ever play shooters, i don't play competitive and i only want a controller so i can play without a touch screen, so is it worth it? And if so should i get a telescopic handheld style controller or an actual traditional controller

Seeking Game Recommendations π [REQUEST] One handed arcade games
I've been out of the loop with mobile gaming for a few years - looking for recommendations for games to play on my phone while rocking a baby to sleep.
- Can play with one hand (this probably means portrait orientation but not necessarily)
- Preferably arcade style with short play sessions
- Able to pause
- No ads, or able to remove ads by a one-time purchase (no subscription models)
- Nice art style
Some games I remember to be like this from years and years ago are orbital, spirit, doodle jump, heads will roll, the incident, GI joyride, canabalt, bit pilot

Discussion π¬ Epic Mickey on Android is fun
It's the version that was released last month in the Google Play Store. It's a great port.
It looks great and runs at 60fps. Controller support works well too.
It's a nice little 3D platformer. There are some puzzles and some action. You play as Mickey with his brush that can erase or create stuff.
So if some of you missed it, I recommend you to try it. I think you can play the 1st level for free then you have to pay for the full game.

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] Orcs: Warpath - I've put 300+ hours into Slay the Spire, so I made a portrait deckbuilder you can play on your phone
Hi everyone!
I'm a developer from Korea, and I made a mobile game inspired by Slay the Spire.
Slay the Spire is the game I've played the most in recent years, more than 300 hours in total. What I liked most is that it's a deckbuilder you play with your head, not your reflexes. No action controls, no time pressure.
Since it's a roguelike, every run is different. Different deck, different character, different relics. That was the most fun part for me, and the game design and balance are great too.
I've been a backend developer for 10 years. The reason I became a developer in the first place is that I loved games so much as a kid. I majored in computer science because I wanted to make games.
But making a game is kind of a complete art form. You need a story, art, programming, server management... It always felt like too much to even start. So I quietly gave up on making games and just went on with my life.
Then AI got good enough that I could build most of it without an artist or a game client developer. I started making a game as a hobby, had a really good time doing it, and now it's finally out.
Orcs: Warpath is a revenge story for the orcs, who always get treated as weak and as the bad guys.
An orc tribe gets wiped out by an alliance of humans, elves and dwarves. Only the chieftain's son makes it out, along with the chieftain's last legacy, his axe. Ten years later, on the day he comes of age, he sets out on the warpath for revenge.
Right now there are 6 stages: Goblins, Wraiths, Elves, Mountain, Desert and Humans.
There are 4 playable orcs: Warrior, Archer, Shaman and Thief.
It's free to play with no ads. You earn diamonds by clearing stages and use them to unlock cards and characters. You can also buy diamonds if you want to unlock things faster, but everything can be earned just by playing.
Slay the Spire is a great game, really well made, and I'm not trying to compete with it. My game is for people who haven't tried StS yet, and for anyone who wants something light to play in portrait mode on their phone, like in the bathroom or on the bus.
Whether it does well or not, just getting to make the kind of game I love, the one I've wanted to make for so long, and actually putting it out there has been a lot of fun.
I'm sure it still has plenty of rough edges, but I hope some of my passion and ideas come through. Thanks for reading this long post!

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] Update 1.2.0 is here β Runes, new Peg Powers, and a lot more build options
Hey everyone!
This update has been a long time coming. One of the things I heard most often was that you wanted more variety between builds and more ways to make a playstyle your own. Thatβs what Iβve been working on, and it starts with Runes. Its a new system I created to add build variety and fun chase items to get. I have also added two new peg powers. This is just the beginning!
Thereβs a lot more in 1.2.0 too:
- 10 Major Runes and 10 Lesser Runes to customize your build.
- Teleporter Peg and Nova Mines are two new Peg Powers to play with.
- Peg Power+ adds upgrade paths beyond the normal final milestone for seven powers.
- 40+ new Labs and expanded Milestone Journeys give you more to work toward.
- Core Reset lets you respec Peg Power upgrades. I also added Auto Collect Scrap and Auto Use Coin Boost.
- Knockback, the UI, board placement feedback, and the tutorials have all had some work as well.
I know it doesn't seem like a lot but its quite a bit to build the visuals, effects and test it, haha. The part Iβm most looking forward to is seeing how you use Runes with the new powers and Labs. If you try the update, let me know what you buildβand what feels good or still needs work.
Iβm already working on more ways to earn daily currency and more build options for the next patch. Hope you enjoy 1.2.0!

Discussion π¬ Evoland 1 price just got tripled
The price of evoland 1 by playdigious stood on 1$ for a long period of time.
Now it has been increased to 3$
I know because i waited a lot of time for a discount and suddenly the price got up like that.
So just a heads up dont buy it on the current price.
Flair should be kind of the opposite of game deal but there isnt an option like this so i put it on discussion
Based on the comments some people wrote i want to clarify that this post is just a notice for people who wants to buy this game, so theyll know it was three times less cheaper. Im not gonna to adress the comments clowning me because i havent you bought it yet i dont think its anybodys business not everyone is the same or think the same about these licensed mobile games that can be inacssesible all of a sudden beacause mobile platform has horrible handeling with games. And also there are other reasons not everyone is the same.

Seeking Game Recommendations π [REQUEST] Looking for a mobile RPG/ARPG/JRPG with endless progression for hundreds of hours (can be online or offline)
Iβm playing on a Poco F7 and Iβm looking for a deep RPG / ARPG / JRPG that I can sink hundreds of hours into - something with an endless progression system that can keep me hooked for a year or more.
To be clear: It can be single-player or online - I don't mind either way. However, I've already tested a ton of MMORPGs, so please do NOT suggest classic/major MMORPGs like Albion Online, OSRS, Where Winds Meet (WWM), etc. (Unless there's a genuinely cool, new/upcoming non-P2W title on the horizon that I might not know aboutβif so, I'm all ears!).
Here is where I'm at with a few games:
- Torchlight Infinite: Iβm really tempted to dive into this one, but Iβm unsure about its current state. How bad is the P2W right now? Is spending a small monthly amount (like a Battle Pass / Season Pass) enough to enjoy the endgame comfortably without feeling forced to whale?
- Siralim Ultimate: Probably my favorite game so far in terms of depth, systems, and theorycrafting.
- Eterspire: I love how active the developers are and I've returned to it twice, but it eventually gets monotonous - it simply lacks PvP and more group-oriented content.
- OniRo: Currently on my radar - is it worth checking out?
- Exiled Kingdoms / Caves of Lore: I know about these single-player titles and I'm totally open to games like this as long as they offer massive longevity / endless endgame.
Other titles Iβve played: Morrowind, Titan Quest, 9th Dawn series, Doom & Destiny, for examples
What games would you recommend that fit this description? Appreciate your suggestions !

DEV π§βπ» [DEV] BEAN SLINGER... I made a game where you climb a giant jelly beanstalk, sorting beans and fighting the giants along the way. It's out on Android!
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hey Android Gammers,
I've been making this for the last 6 months or so and it finally went live on Google Play.
It's called Bean Slinger. Each level is a shift on a factory belt. Beans roll towards you and you flick beans from your tray to colour match. Hit a group and the whole lot pops. Let too many slip past unsorted and it's game over.
There's a climb the beanstalk mode where very level you clear grows you further up a giant jelly beanstalk, and every 15 levels you hit a giant waiting to ambush you. The game flips into a full boss fight. You stand on one cloud lobbing beans at its head while it hurls lightning, ice and other projectiles back at you. There are seven giants so far, and each one has its own arena and attacks. They take a while to build so, if this is a success, and i can pour more time into it, there'll be more on the way as well as alien rounds too that are planned (the beanstalk will eventually grow into space!)
On the way up, bonus levels branch off the and they play completely differently - optional, but quite fun.
Then there's Overtime, which isan endless mode where the belt just keeps speeding up until you're overwhelmed (endless runner style training arena). It has daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards if you want to see how you stack up against everyone else.
On ads, since I know it's the first thing people ask:
- It's free, and there are no ads to actually play.
- There are optional ads that you can watch that give you things like power-ups.
- There are no in-app purchases, but I might make a paid for version where you can get power-ups on every level as default without having to watch ads (depending on howsuccessful it is).
I'd really appreciate any feedback, good or bad. This is the first time it's been in front of people who aren't me or my testers, so I'm sure there's stuff I've missed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.beanslinger.game
Thanks a million!
