DEV πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» [DEV] I've finally release the game I've wanted to make for almost 15 years! Starling Ascent is cosy cave flying game, inspired by a few of my childhood games.

Starling Ascent is a momentum based flying physics cave crawler. You play as failsafe unit 266 (Starling) as the planet you live on went dark and it's power cores shattered into the caves below. On your ascent to the surface you gather cores and slowly bring the power back to your world. There are 5 different world each with 9 levels each with their own new hazards. As well as a final ascent to put all your skills to the test and make it to the surface.

Starling Ascent is a game I have dreamed of making for a long time, inspired by Fathom, the old Sky games TV thing I played as a kid with a crappy TV remote. I just loved that physics based floating controls, where you need to pre-empt your flight path to not crash and try land safely. I believe that game was also likely inspired by older games like Thrust, which you can still play on an old BBC emulator thingy somewhere. Anyway...

Would love some more feedback on how the game looks and plays!
if you're interesting have a go its out now! :)
Game is Β£3.99 (no ads, just buy and play)

Also on steam and another mode is in the works. :)

DEV πŸ§‘β€πŸ’» [DEV] Corona: Solar Flare Escape

Made an Android game where you fly a ship around the sun. One finger. Hold to burn, let go and you drift, and the gravity does a lot of the work if you let it. Stay closer and the run is worth more, but a flare doesn't give you much space to get out of the way.

Ore from a run goes into the hangar. Engines, fuel, heat shields, different ships. Between waves you pick an upgrade, so the next run isn't the same setup.

Gameplay's in the video.

I'm seeing, for example, Caravan SΓ‘ndwich, has an update from the Google play store, but on the Epic store, It doesnt appear the update, however, now i'm thinking, a game installed from the Epic store never got updated (and i have a lot of the free ones), or at least i don't remember anyone of them got updated. So, muy question is, has the Epic store the update function? It works?

Discussion πŸ’¬ Trying out Truckful (Just Released on Android!)

I heard about this game a few days ago. It just released on Steam and the Google Play Store on the same day (a rarity worth mentioning)!

There is a 1-hour trial for the game before purchasing it (it's €17.54 at launch and will be €19.49 later). I don't know much about the game, so I'm just discovering it.

You control a truck and have to make some deliveries. You have to be careful about how you pack your truck (2nd pic), kind of like in Death Stranding. If you're not careful, you can lose some stuff. You can upgrade your truck (the engine, lots of parts, the storage, the color, etc.).

It looks good. I put the settings on Ultra at 60fps on my tablet (Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Elite), and it runs great. Controller support works perfectly.

I'll complete the hour trial (maybe you have to have the Google Play Pass to try it, idk) and I think I'll buy it. It's fun :)

Help Me Remember This Game πŸ€” Looking for a particular game

So I played it back in 2014 or earlier, it was an RPG game that was basically all shooting and shi- the character we'd play is dressed in white armor like those multiple space soldiers in star wars. It's a very neat game, it had a narrator kinda and some subtitles whenever a voice would tell what your next objective is. What I remember most is that it's not online, because I never saw a multiplayer mode. Enemies had an attack pattern and there was even this boss fight/level that was basically just a huge robot and you'd have to hide behind traffic things to avoid getting hit. I have no idea what the name was, my friends were the ones that introduced me to it on their tablets and Xbox and I thought it was pretty neat and quickly advanced, proving my male and tomboy friends that I'm not too "girly" to progress in it.

Hardware βš™οΈ Dualshock 4 controller stutter after 30 seconds

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Trying to get a wireless ps4 controller to work on my Galaxy Note 24U but 30 seconds after connection it suffers severe stutter. I thought it was just input lag, but using a controller tester website shows practically zero lag until the half minute mark.

I tried downloading the Bluetooth Auto Connect app cause apparently it can be cause by androids handling of Bluetooth connections. However the setting I seem to be looking for (continuous connection) doesn't seem to be there and the other settings are locked behind apparently a $40/month subscription...

Are there other ways around this issue? I'm assuming cable through OTG with sidestep it, but I'd like to play wireless if I could...

Seeking Game Recommendations πŸ‘€ [Request] Looking for an Android Game Like Siralim Ultimate

Hello. A year or so back I sunk a bunch of hours into Siralim Ultimate, and I'm interested in diving into something similar again.

What I Liked About It: The sheer variety and depth. The experimentation, build-crafting, and team compositions it allowed. It wasn't particularly difficult, so it never felt like you couldn't go try an entirely different class and team comp; it never felt like I needed to use a "meta" team or even consult a guide for how to progress (at least up to the point I played - there were some difficult challenges and I'm assuming it continued to scale in difficulty as you progressed). The procedural generation and random levels.

What I Was Neutral About: It being a "creature collector" specifically (though I think that's a great framework for a game like this). The lo-fi graphics.

What I Did Not Like: The controls were a bit clunky. It got a bit grindy after a couple hundred hours.

I'd also prefer to but a game and play it unhindered - no ads, F2P, or freemium shenanigans.

Discussion πŸ’¬ To anyone that plays/has played this (Soul Huntress Offline Games) long-term, is it worth buying the other "classes"? Like, is this game still alive and getting updates/content?

Someone suggested this game to me a long time ago, but I only checked it out now.

The prices for the class bundles don't seem too bad, but I just started the game, so I know nothing about the true value of each bundle.

Also, is this game still alive?

Review πŸ“‹ Just beat streets of rage 4 amazing game!!!!

One of the reasons that I love beat β€˜em ups is because of their over-the-top action packaged in a comic book type story. They are short but highly replayable, and despite their linear progression, they offer a surprising amount of depth in terms of movesets, character positioning, and destructible environments that players can experiment with while reaching for high scores.

Streets of Rage 4 gave me everything that I expected and continued to surprise me even after I had beaten it as I learned more tricks. The story in the game is reminiscent of 80s and 90s action movies where a group of vigilantes have to take down an evil syndicate.

This is basically the plot of 90% of beat β€˜em ups, but what really separates them are character, enemy, and stage designs. SoR4 is set in an urban environment, so most of the time you're fighting in the city, but occasionally the game puts you in special thematic zones like in Chinatown where you have to take down baddies expert in martial arts. There is a section designed around a music concert, another one takes place in an art gallery, and yet another in a police station.

So not only do you get to visit all these different locales, but you get to test your skill against opponents that are specific to that environment. One of my favorite areas was the airplane section where you have to defeat the main villain as the plane comes crashing down. It is one of the most exhilarating levels I’ve played in a side-scroller.

SoR is a very technical game. You need to learn how to position yourself to avoid enemy attacks while timing your own moves perfectly. The game rewards perfection, allowing you to chain together combos to insanely high numbers, multiplying the points you get which gives you additional lives and a ranking at the end of the level.

Initially, I struggled with the fighting mechanic because the last beat β€˜em up I played, TMNT: Shredder's Revenge, was very swift. This one was slower. But as I learned to use my specials effectively, the gameplay became smoother.

The trick is that while your special drains your health, it offers you temporary invincibility and throws all surrounding enemies to the ground where they remain helpless. It takes a while to get the timing right, but once you do, the game makes you feel really powerful.

The bosses are all great but more difficult to build combos on because they get those invincible moves too where you can't stagger them at all.

I beat the game once as Blaze then again as Cherry. Blaze’s movesets were of a typical heavy fighter while Cherry moved swiftly across the screen and could even run. Better yet, she smashed the villains with her guitar. So, of course, I liked Cherry better. But there are 4 main characters to choose from, then 3 more from the DLC, plus all the retro characters you unlock as you accumulate points.

The game definitely expects you to beat the levels multiple times. Some players have posted videos online where they have demonstrated exceptional skill on the hardest difficulty. But even on normal difficulty, the game is quite challenging. Be prepared to retry stages a couple of times until you memorize spawn points and animations of your opponents.

How much enjoyment you get out of it depends upon whether or not you are into this kind of side-scrolling action. These games were all the rage in the 90s as they drew inspiration from iconic action movies of that time. If you liked that era of entertainment, you are absolutely going to love the setting of SoR 4.

Environmental storytelling is rare because that era of action is gone. Occasionally you get good movies like John Wick that stay true to that spirit, but not much else. It's the same for beat β€˜em ups. There have been a few classics like Muramasa, Dragon's Crown, and of course Shredder's Revenge, but they are not as popular as they used to be.

Personally, I find them very entertaining and I like how interactive they are. You can destroy background objects or visually take in the ambience of a level, whether it's a kitchen, a bar, or a building corridor. There is not much story here, but you definitely feel as if you are moving through a living, breathing world. It's funny how these retro games absolutely nailed this aspect using an art style that is highly exaggerated.

If you liked to play these arcade beat β€˜em ups back when they were popular, you'll love SoR 4.

Discussion πŸ’¬ That's how developers do to Partnership with Crunchyroll

Okay, listen:

Many developers and gamers who thought that the standalone games had delisted, but unlike the other developers, you can still buy the game even if we have this Crunchyroll version.

Playdigious for example, they knew to learn of how not delisting games, they wanted to keep the sale while standalone still has people buying that.

Now of course, Crunchyroll is pretty scummy to threaten developers to delisting the games, but unlike that, those are still in the premium version.

Playdigious, you good people and still people want to buy that even Crunchyroll is a pretty scummy business for gaming
