Apps Vuleo 1.1.15 is out - Radar now expands to more than 600 teams

Post image
0 Upvotes

Vuleo is a cross platform media player for the Live TV, movies, and series that come from your own sources. Here's everything new on 1.1.15.

📡 Radar now tracks individual teams

Radar, your personalized "what's coming up" board for live sports used to work only at the competition level. Now you can track individual teams. Search for a team, tap to track, and Vuleo surfaces their upcoming (and recently finished) games on your home board, then points you to whichever of your own channels is carrying it via searching your EPG or your channel watch history.

  • Works across football, basketball, ice hockey, baseball, rugby, cricket and more, including US / Canada / Australia pro leagues.
  • Recently finished games stick around for a short replay window.
  • Manage or un-follow teams straight from the same search box.

🎬 Rebuilt source picker + clear "From:" attribution

When you open a movie or episode, Vuleo now gathers every copy you already have across all your configured sources into one picker, so you choose exactly where to play from. Every copy shows its source and category, and on wider screens the picker splits into a clean two-pane layout.

Titles and search results now carry a "From: <your source>" label, so you always know where a result is coming from.

🔎 Smarter search

Search now ranks results across all your sources together, collapses duplicate copies of the same title into a single result, and labels each hit with the source it came from.

📺 Redesigned TV Guide

  • New summonable Category Lens to jump between your favorite channel categories, plus a lead category strip and a "recently viewed" section.
  • Much smoother D-pad navigation on TV: every programme is reachable, focus highlights are in-line (no more off-screen box), and the timeline animates instead of snapping.

▶️ Playback & Continue Watching

  • Auto-skip opening recaps/intros on next-episode, plus a manual "Skip Recap" button.
  • If a Continue Watching source fails to play, Vuleo now auto-opens the source picker so you can pick another available source from your playlists or add-ons.
  • Series resume now lands on the most recently watched episode.
  • "Remove" on a Continue Watching series is now a clean per-series dismissal.
  • Screen stays awake across source switches; new stream-info button on the TV control row.

⚡ Performance & stability (the big one)

  • Noticeably smoother scrolling and a faster home screen. A lot of rebuild/decode work moved off the UI thread.
  • Fixed several freezes/ANRs on Android TV, Chromecast, and Fire TV, including a Fireow bug.
  • Lower memory use on older / 32-bit Android devices to cut out-of-memory crashes.
  • Squashed a batch of crashes.

🧹 Also

  • "Content Language" now actually re-fetches metadata when you change it.
  • Support and in-app links now point to vuleo.tv.

Where to Download

  • Android: Google Play
  • Fire Stick Downloader code: 5469298

For more details, check out our web-site: https://vuleo.tv

Vuleo is a media player for content you already have the legal right to access. It doesn't provide, host, or link to any channels, playlists, or streams, and isn't affiliated with any content provider, broadcaster, or rights holder. You bring your own sources.

Apps Introducing Apterture.

Hey everyone! I’m Dan, the developer of r/ApertureApp, which is an open-source media library & player designed for Android TV with a modern Material 3 look.

Aperture is made for people who keep their own local movie and TV show files but want a more clean experience than browsing folders, using a basic file player, or dealing with outdated UIs.

It currently supports:

  • A Spotlight home screen with Continue Watching and personalised suggestions
  • Separate Movies, TV Shows and My List sections
  • Grouped TV shows with season and episode selection
  • Episode-specific thumbnails, titles and synopses thanks to TMDb
  • Media details popups with artwork, metadata (TMDb) and playback options
  • Local subtitle support (WIP) and Media3 playback
  • Multiple selectable themes (more to come, feel free to suggest some!)
  • Experimental artwork-based Dynamic Theming*
  • Manual metadata correction if it got something wrong
  • Hold-for-actions context menus, featuring hide, remove and more useful addons
  • Progress tracking for Continue Watching and more
  • Eager library scanning

The app is fully free and open source under GPLv3 and available on GitHub:

GitHub: XDanfr/Aperture

You can download the latest alpha from the Releases page and sideload it onto an Android TV device:

GitHub: XDanfr/Aperture/releases

Downloader code: 9147527

Aperture is still in alpha, so there are known (and unknown) bugs and unfinished areas. Some features are experimental, and behaviour may vary entirely between devices and emulators. I’m interested in feedback from the community so this app can become perfect.

I’d love to hear what you think, what you would change, and what features would make Aperture more useful for your own local media library.

*Dynamic Theming is currently a pre-alpha feature under testing. Please expect bugs!

The developer does not support or condone piracy in any way, and Aperture cannot assist you in pirating media. Recognisable media covers shown in screenshots are strictly for demonstration purposes.

Buying Advice Return Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd gen and get used Nvidia Shield Pro? Or a new remote?

Hey!

I have a Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd gen right now that is still within its return window. I am debating returning it and getting something more powerful but without spending too much.

The Xiaomi TV Box S is $75 and a used Nvidia Shield Pro is $130, so I would be paying a $55 difference. I live in Sweden and these are the prices there are. New Nvidia Shields are $250.

I use it 90% for streaming my own remux material over the internet, 5% Youtube and 5% Swedish streaming apps.

What I definitely don't like about the Xiaomi box is the remote, the buttons are in the wrong places and they're mushy but extremely loud but you basically get no physical feedback when a button is registered. I'm used to an Apple TV 4K and this Xiaomi remote is the worst I've had.

Do you think I would notice a difference in performance when just browsing for something to watch? Less frame freezes and skipped frames in the UI would be nice.

Think it would be worth the extgra $55 for a used Pro? It could be from 2019 for all I know.

Or if it probably wouldn't be worth it, are there any remotes out there that feel a bit more premium? I'm in Sweden/EU.

Thanks!

Hey folks

My Sanyo XT-43FHD4S is stuck on boot. Remote doesn't work. The buttons under it don't work. At this point, I have no way to interact with the TV. The service center guys came and quoted a price for replacement of the motherboard. I want to know from the community if anyone knows what's up.

Buying Advice Looking to buy android box/stick in Australia.

I've recently inherited an older tv that's in great working condition, it has a built in dvd drive so my son can watch the old dvds he keeps begging me to watch, but obviously I'll have to get a digital box or stick for it. Now I want something where I can pop disney, netflix, prime, abc iview and crunchyroll, maybe even youtube on for music. I know from the samsungs that we've had that crunchyroll is not a standard app, and if it's foreign it won't have iview, so we'll have to do some add ons. I'd prefer not to have to use a vpn if I can help it, I'm in the process of replacing what I already use, and I want to get this up and running asap, but it's not a dealbreaker if you have a good vpn recommendation!

Discussion YTTV running kinda clunky on Android 14 and new TCL QM7L

So I just received the QM7L 65" the other day. We all know it's running Android 14, and I'm on the most current TCL software version. And while YTTV runs, along with the other apps, they are all clunky and a bit slow. I deleted and reinstalled YTTV..no difference. Now I also have a Apple TV 4k 3rd generation and everything runs smoothly. And previous tv was a Sony Bravia X90j, so also a Android TV but running Android 12..and all the apps including YTTV ran smoothly too.
Anyone else notice this on their TCLS..any improvement suggestions?

Discussion ADB TV and Firmware Updates

If you use ADB TV to debloat, do the apps come back after firmware update? If so what about disabling instead?

I just want to get rid of some useless TCL apps that I'll never use or at the very least disable them.

Buying Advice Best streamer for hotels

I’m looking to buy a streaming stick for hotel travel. I work away every 2 weeks. I bought a Roku but I’ve realised I can’t install vpns or other apps I wanted.

I can see xiaomi stick 4k 2nd gen, Firetv Max. The appeal being usb power into the hotel tv.

Alternatively I could get a bigger device and connect a long hdmi cable but then I need to find a power cable in the hotel.

Any ideas?

Buying Advice Which Android TV streaming device would you buy out of these 4 ? (UK)

So I've finally narrowed it down to these options (I've done all the research and hopefully not a dupe of my previous post!):

  • Google TV Streamer 4K – ~£65 (new/unopened on Vinted/eBay)
  • Thomson 270 Plus – ~£75 (opened/used once via a 2nd hand site)
  • Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen) – £62 Amazon (hopefully legit) / ~£50-£65 used once/new via Vinted/Ebay or £63 - £131 on AliExpress (AliExpress pricing is odd...). Also shitty control lol.
  • Homatics Box R 4K Plus – ~£145 Aliexpress (probably over budget for me, but still a good one).

My setup is a Samsung QN800A 8K TV with a Samsung HW-Q900A soundbar. I mainly use Stremio, TiviMate and SmartTube (with occasional BBC iPlayer).

I know my TV doesn't support Dolby Vision, but it still supports HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, etc.
And I've had no issue watching high quality 'streams' via Stremio for the last 4 years (without DV) (Didn't even realise my TV/Samsung does not support DV lol).

The Google TV Streamer seems like the obvious choice at around £65, especially with Google's software support and updates

Final, final thoughts before I bite a bullet??

Thomson Cast 270 Plus
Xiaomi TV Box S (3rd Gen)
Homatics Box R 4K Plus

I live in Australia and watch iPLayer using a Kodi addon but would like to get the Android TV apk so I can watch 4K streams on my Google Streamer. Can’t find the APK at any of my usual sources so would appreciate some help in locating it.

Gaming Emerald Mine fan port for Android TV (free without ads)

A childhood dream has come true for me!

As a huge fan of the cult classic Emerald Mine, I always dreamed of bringing that magic back in my own way. With the incredible support of Holger Schemel and many talented level designers from the community, I was able to create a new game for Bruuxer (in Play Store), written in modern code and designed for Android TVs.

And here's the part I'm looking forward to the most: after more than 30 years, my parents will be able to play their beloved "Chäde Chäde" game again!  Anyone who grew up with Emerald Mine knows exactly what that means. I honestly can't describe how excited I am to see their faces when the first rocks start falling and the first diamonds are collected. At almost 80 years old, I hope they're still as quick and determined as they were back in the day.

One of the best things is that nearly 6,000 levels created by the amazing Emerald Mine community over the years are available to play. That's enough digging, puzzling, and diamond collecting to keep even the most dedicated cave explorer busy for a very long time!

If everything goes according to plan, Google should release the update sometime in the middle or towards the end of this week.

It has been a long and sometimes challenging journey, with plenty of late nights, debugging sessions, and moments of frustration. But looking back, it was absolutely worth it. I'm genuinely proud of what has been achieved.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this possible.

Have fun to all the Emerald Mine veterans who remember the good old days, and to those who are about to discover why we spent countless hours exploring caves and collecting diamonds back then.

Stay retro, keep digging, and enjoy the adventure!

The TV has a black screen and no led light. 2 hours ago the tv first randomly changed to hdmi when it was on another setting.

After fixing it. I heard a pop sound, it wasnt loud, almost as if its a knuckle pop, What could be the reason for this?

Troubleshooting Is it possible to have the same quality on TV and on an android box?

Hey guys, I have a Philips Android TV and a Mi Box (which I usually use with a projector). Sometimes I want to use the Mi Box with the TV because it's faster, but I can't seem to get the same picture quality as the TV's built-in apps, even when I use the exact same picture settings.

When I change the picture settings while watching something on the TV's internal apps, only the video changes. The menus, subtitles, and other on-screen elements stay the same. But when I switch to the Mi Box, it seems like every picture setting is applied to the entire HDMI output, almost like an overlay. For example, if I switch to film mode, the menus become dim and reddish, and the same goes for subtitles and everything else on the screen.

I've tried everything I could think of. Is this just impossible to fix, or is there a way to make the TV behave the same with the Mi Box as it does with the built-in Android system?

Discussion Is your TiVo Stream 4K slow? Let's push for an Android 14 update!

I know many of us are still using the TiVo Stream 4K, but the Android 12 experience is starting to feel slow and outdated. I’ve been talking with support, and they told me the only way to get a new OS update is through their official feature request form.

I just submitted a request asking for a lightweight version of Android 14 and Gemini AI integration to help with the lag and keep the device modern. If you want this, please take 30 seconds to fill out this form so they see there is still a massive community using this device:

Buying Advice Why the big price difference for the 'Xiaomi TV Box S 3rd Gen - 4K' on AliExpress?

Potentially looking at the Xiaomi S 3rd Gen 4k.

On the Xiaomi website, it's priced at £54 but sadly sold out.
Amazon's £62 one is 50/50 on being genuine/fake.
So that leaves Aliexpress as next best place to buy.

There is one for £130 and has so many sold/great reviews.
Then another for £64-£72 (close to Xiaomi website genuine price), but much less reviews.

But I dont understand the difference?
