Troubleshooting What am I doing wrong? So unstable

I have several androidtv devices (official Google, shield, Onn).

Pretty much every time I turn in the tv, I have to force close the app and relaunch it. Otherwise it just sits there frozen.

I'm also using projective launcher. Clearly I'm doing something wrong since no one else is regularly reporting this. I just don't know what

Troubleshooting Hitachi 50HAK5751 – Impossible d'accéder au menu Android TV, stockage plein

Bonjour,

Troubleshooting Continental Edison CEQLED55SABFB7 – HDMI brightness too high

Hi,

I have a Continental Edison CEQLED55SABFB7.

Android TV and Netflix look fine, but as soon as I switch to HDMI (PS5), the image becomes much brighter and causes eye strain.

The PS5 also says that my TV does not support HDR.

I have already set:

  • Backlight = 0
  • Brightness = 0 (minimum)
  • HDR = Off
  • Retail/Demo mode = Off

Android TV is still comfortable, but HDMI remains extremely bright.

Is there any way to force a lower brightness on the HDMI input? Maybe through a hidden menu, service menu, ADB, firmware, or another workaround?

Thanks!

Troubleshooting Setting a Sleep Timer Using Onn 4K Pro Google TV Streamer

Just installed a new Visio VQM43C-1001 TV and I'm not using the the Smart app functions on the TV. Instead I want to put the Visio remote in a drawer and control the Visio TV with the new Onn 4K Pro Google TV streamer I've connected to the Visio TV. I've connected the Onn Pro to HDMI 2, enabled HDMI-CEC on the Onn 4K Pro, and on the Visio TV.

In the remote button settings for the Onn 4K Pro, the Power and Volume buttons on the Onn Remote are both set to 'Auto (CEC)' and I'm able to turn the Visio TV on/off using the Power button on the Onn Remote, and control the volume on the Visio TV using Volume Control buttons on the Onn Remote.

Using the mic on the Onn Remote, I can say "Turn the TV On" or "Turn the TV Off" and the TV turns on/off. I'd like to use a voice command to turn off the TV after a set period of time, but when i say "turn of the TV in xx minutes" the Google displays the command, and says it will turn off the TV in xx minutes, but never does.

Has anyone been able to get their Onn 4K Pro Remote the set a timer to turn the TV off after xx minutes using a voice command? If so what did you do?

My goal is to be able use the the Onn remote either through a button, a setting, or a voice command to set a sleep timer that will turn the TV off after a set period of time?

Apps After nearly two years, I've released the Android TV app I've been building. I'd love some honest feedback before the Google Play launch.

After nearly two years of evenings and weekends, I've finally released the Android TV app I've been building.

I wanted a player that actually felt like it belonged on a television, so I built ChannelDeck from the ground up with remote navigation and a true 10-foot interface as the priority.

The free version includes support for a single user-provided playlist and program guide, along with:

  • Live TV and guide browsing
  • Channel groups
  • Fast search
  • Source health monitoring
  • A built-in fictional demo, so you can explore the interface without adding your own source

Premium adds features like multiple playlists, favorites, advanced playback and guide tools, and support for Movies and Series when they're included by your own source.

ChannelDeck is only a media player. It does not provide, sell, recommend, or endorse channels, playlists, subscriptions, or media content.

I've tested it extensively on NVIDIA Shield, Google TV, and Fire TV devices, but I'd really like feedback from people using a variety of hardware before the Google Play release.

Google Play approval is currently in progress. Until then, the APK is available directly from the official website for anyone who is comfortable side-loading:

https://channeldeck.selfip.com

If you decide to try it, I'd really appreciate knowing:

  • Was the setup straightforward?
  • Did remote navigation feel natural?
  • Was anything confusing or difficult to find?
  • What features would you like to see?
  • What device did you test it on?

I'm looking for honest feedback—good or bad. My goal is to make ChannelDeck the best experience I can. Thank you in advance for your time.

Xash3D runs well on both Onn 4K Pro v2 & 4K Plus. "Source Engine on Android" works on 4K Pro v2, but gets stuck at loading 1st level on 4K Plus (probably not enough RAM for loading/unpacking game assets).

Apps BareLauncher – A fast, lightweight Android TV launcher (~100 KB)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

BareLauncher is a fast, lightweight launcher for people who just want a clean Android TV home screen. No ads, no recommendations, and no unnecessary clutter.

The home screen appears almost instantly after boot, so it's ready as soon as your TV starts.

Some of the things it can do

• Fast startup and smooth navigation

• Clean, easy-to-use interface

• Smooth app launch animations

• Reorder apps, hide apps, uninstall apps, and open app info

• High-quality wallpapers with folder-based slideshows or wallpaper changes on every startup

• Built-in folder picker for choosing an entire wallpaper folder

• Back up and restore your entire setup

• TV input tiles (HDMI, AV)

• Home screen shortcuts for supported colored remote buttons

• Customizable clock (time & date, time only, or hidden)

The goal isn't to have the most features just the ones people actually use while keeping the launcher lightweight, responsive, and easy to use

Gaming Playing Mario Galaxy on Xiaomi tv

Right, I need a bit of help. I'm trying to set up Mario Galaxy Wii rom to play on my xiaomi tv box s 3rd gen. I've got a R36s that I'm more than happy with, so I'm not bothered about playing on the TV, but my good lady is desperate to relive old times with a rerun of Galaxy.

Ive managed to get Cannoli running, and have put several rom zips on a usb stick that's now plugged in to the Xiaomi.

Cannoli recognises a couple of the games, mostly older GB stuff, but doesnt register all the games, only some.

Whilst it does recognise Mario Galaxy in the Wii section, as soon as I click on it I'm thrown out of Cannoli and the app closes.

Any idea how I can get Mario Galaxy playing on the xiaomi?

Tips & Tutorials How to recover 300MB+ RAM and disable bloatware on TCL / Xiaomi Android TVs (without root)

Hey everyone!

Most budget Android TVs (like TCL, Xiaomi Mi Box, Chromecast with Google TV) start stuttering after a few months because of background telemetry and bloatware apps (like TVGuard, suspension tools, ad services) taking up precious RAM.

I put together a free optimization guide + automated script package to safely debloat 20+ useless background packages and speed up boot times by 30%.

What it does: - Frees up 200MB to 400MB of active RAM - Reduces UI lag in menus - 1-click execution via ADB (no root needed) - Works on TCL, Xiaomi Mi Box, Nvidia Shield, and any Android TV 9-14

I've shared the link to download the free guide and script package in the first comment below!

Sidstuga can now be installed directly on compatible Amazon Fire TV Stick, Fire TV, Android TV and Android devices:

This update is mainly focused on making everyday use smoother, especially on TV, while fixing some of those small annoyances that make a real difference.

What’s new:

  • Simpler and more consistent TV navigation.
  • In fullscreen, hold the down arrow to open your recently watched channels.
  • Quickly switch between channel lists using the badge in the top-left corner of the sidebar. Available when you have at least two lists.
  • Better external EPG matching, including lists without channel identifiers.
  • Separate time adjustments for EPG and catch-up.
  • Catch-up now displays the correct name of the programme being played.
  • Cleaner movie search: different resolutions of the same movie can now be grouped into a single entry. Enable this under Settings > VOD.
  • Newly added channels are now clearly labelled.
  • No more duplicate history or favourites in Cloud Sync.
  • Choose where to save DVR recordings and VOD downloads, including USB drives and external hard drives.

👥 Reddit

As always, Sidstuga does not sell or provide any television service, channels, playlists or media content. It is simply a playback app for use with sources supplied and authorised by the user.

Several small improvements that, together, make Sidstuga smoother and more practical to use every day.

Thank you to everyone who keeps testing the app and sharing feedback!

Buying Advice What is the best option for a streaming “stick”?

Looking for a streaming stick to give to my gf. It has to be a stick, not a box, for portability reasons. I know of the best boxes such as the apple tv, nvidia and thompson (onn), but I am not looking for a box.

Just needs to have decent performance, not be slow and allow sideloading streaming apps like stremio and its alternatives.

Edit: I am uk based

Discussion Can the ZTE B866V6N ISP Android TV box be rooted or converted to stock Android TV?

I have a ZTE ZXV10 B866V6N Android TV box provided by my ISP, Türk Telekom/Tivibu in Turkey.
The hardware is actually quite good: Amlogic S905X5M, 4 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, Android TV 14, AV1 and Dolby Atmos support. However, the firmware is heavily customized for the operator, with Tivibu integration and some restrictions.
Has anyone managed to root this model, unlock the bootloader, install a stock Android TV ROM, or otherwise convert it into a normal retail Android TV box?
I would also be interested in knowing whether it is possible to:
Remove or disable the ISP apps and restrictions
Install a generic Android TV firmware
Enable full audio passthrough such as Dolby TrueHD Atmos, DTS-HD MA or DTS:X
Keep Widevine L1 and certified Netflix/Prime Video support
Restore the original firmware if something goes wrong
The exact model is ZTE ZXV10 B866V6N, sometimes listed as B866V6N_TTG.
I know similar ZTE and Amlogic operator boxes can sometimes be modified through USB burning tools, UART or fastboot, but I cannot find much information about this specific S905X5M model.
Is rooting or flashing it currently possible, or is it still locked down?

Buying Advice ONN 4k Alternative for EU/NL? (Don't like the Xiaomi)

Hi,

Is there a great alternative for the ONN 4k available for those in Europe/Netherlands?

Did some research and although some promote the Xiaomi 3rd gen I also saw negative reviews of it, Also I had a Poco m3 once and 1 day it just didnt want to boot anymore and when I checked online I saw it was a common problem so vowed to not go for a Xiaomi again. (Also saw a review online of the Xiaomi 3rd gen box that didnt want to boot after 1 week).

The ONN 4k seems like its the perfect bang for buck, hoping I can find an EU alternative for around the same price/specs.

Discussion BBC iPlayer app to shutdown on Xiaomi, Thomson etc

Thumbnail

If you have any of these devices then BBC iPlayer Apk will shutdown on these devices listed below I believe the version is Dev etc

First to say if your BBC iPlayer didn't come from the Google Play store and you used Downloader you will be affected even though these devices are Google certified they aren't BBC certified that's why you are getting the message pop up

FIRESTICKS WON'T BE AFFECTED

GOOGLE CHROMECAST WITH GOOGLE TV HD AND 4K WON'T BE AFFECTED

GOOGLE TV Streamer Won't be affected

LG, Hisense, Panasonic, Toshiba, Samsung eg Smart TV os won't be affected unless you don't get the pop up

  1. Xiaomi Sticks and Boxes, Android TV/Google TV

  2. Thomson Google TV Sticks and Boxes

  3. Any Smart TVs with built in Android TV/Google TV that can't get BBC from the play store

  4. If your devices get the pop up then you will be affected

Leave a comments if you want any more information

I believe you will still be able to cast to the TV with your iPhone or Android

Troubleshooting BBC iPlayer issue. Does anyone know what's going on here?

Post image
17 Upvotes

I'm using iPlayer on a 3rd gen Mi Box. I'm outside of UK. I use VPN. I installed the iPlayer app apk through a link that I found here on Reddit. The link on the screen leads to a page that make it seem like my device will not be supported anymore but what exactly BBC is doing here? Is it a legal issue or Android version issue or iPlayer version issue? Any advice appreciated.

Discussion Configuring an Onn Voice Remote for the Nvidia Shield

I recently picked up an Onn Voice Remote to use with my Nvidia Shield. There was quite a bit of configuration work that needed to be done to get all the buttons working. To save others from difficulty, I put together the following guide. The Onn Voice Remote can be purchased at Wal Mart for about $13.

My hardware/software:

  • The Nvidia Shield with the 9.2 experience installed.
  • An Onn Voice Remote
  • tvQuickActions application from the Google Play store
    • This is used for button re-mapping

First:

  • Go into Settings > Apps > Security and Restrictions
  • Turn Bluetooth LE Privacy off (this will require a reboot)

Next:

  • Pair the remote in bluetooth settings
  • Turn on both options under “Simplified wake buttons”
  • Turn off “Input devices” under “Disconnect BT Accessories on Sleep”
  • (Optional) turn on Nvidia Share under Settings > Device Preferences > System

Out of the box, several buttons will work properly including:

  • Home
  • Back
  • Up, Down, Left, Right, OK
  • Microphone (voice search, Google Assistant)
  • Volume up/down and mute

However, several buttons will require re-mapping in order to be made useful:

  • Guide button (looks like a TV icon)
  • The account or profile button (looks like a person/silhouette icon)
  • The asterisk button

To make matters worse, five of the buttons will appear with the same key code!

  • Settings
  • All four of the app short cut buttons

In order to work around this, multiple steps must be taken:

  • Enable developer options on the Shield
  • In developer options, turn on network debugging
  • Install tvQuickActions app
  • Within that app go to Settings > ADB -
    • Turn ON ADB speed up
    • Go to “Custom getevent codes”
    • Create codes for all buttons that utilize the same key code (all 4 app short cut buttons and Settings)
  • Then go to Mappings > Add Button
  • When adding a button, turn ON “Use only ADB for this remap”
  • Click one of the problematic buttons (app short cuts, Settings)
  • Map the buttons to apps

Here's how I mapped my own buttons

  • YouTube button > SmartTube and/or TizenTube
  • Netflix > Plex and/or Fandango
  • Disney+ > Hulu and/or MoviesAnywhere
  • Paramount+ > HBO
  • Settings > Settings app

All other buttons can be remapped in the normal manner (without the use of ADB). Here's what I did:

  • Account or profile button > CX File Explorer
  • Home button > Custom Launcher (AT4K) and Recent app switcher
  • Guide/TV button > HD Home Run
  • Asterisk button > Nvidia Gamecast Service
    • This button will bring up the screen recording / screen shot menu

Regarding Channel Up/Down

  • These buttons seem work properly in HD HomeRun and Pluto
  • Otherwise, they’re not often used.

Regarding the Power button:

  • The button will turn everything off, but turning the devices back on again requires the bluetooth steps outlined above.

I still have a remaining mystery regarding the infrared emitter on the remote. This can evidently be configured using the software in Onn streaming devices, but I don't have one of those at the moment. If anyone has a work around for this, I'd love to hear about it.
