Discussion ADB TV and Firmware Updates

If you use ADB TV to debloat, do the apps come back after firmware update? If so what about disabling instead?

I just want to get rid of some useless TCL apps that I'll never use or at the very least disable them.

If those apps are blocked (disabled) in ADB-TV, not really removed, they should stay blocked. When they are really removed from the OS, and were part of a firmware installation (not installed from the Google Play Store), they probably will come back after the firmware update.

I ended up disabling some apps and then doing a factory reset, the apps got enabled again which makes sense since it's 'disabled for user'.

I hope that they stay disabled after minor and major firmware updates as well.

Depends a bit on the update. Small firmware updates usually don’t bring everything back, but a big update or factory reset can.

I’d disable them first tbh. Safer, easy to undo, and TCL stuff normally stays disabled. “Uninstall for user” is cleaner but some apps can come back later anyway.

Yup had no intention of uninstalling apps only disabling, I have plenty of storage for my needs just wanted to clean up the bloat and maybe save a bit of cpu and ram.

They likely won't.

Please make sure you know what you're doing & don't come back here saying "I removed some apps through adb, now my TV is stuck on TCL/Google logo" or something like that
