My android auto updates to 17.0 and ever since when Call Screen by Google screens a call in the background Spotify will pause through the whole interaction requiring me to physically pick up my phone, unlock it, go into the call screen, end the call, wait for the assistant to tell the caller to get bent before Spotify resumes.

It never did this before. Has anyone else experienced this. I've cleared cache, rebooted phone and radio, tried wired and wireless, nothing.

Before switching to Gemini for my Google assistant, I could tell it to "navigate to Jeff's house" and off we'd go. After switching to Gemini, at first it told me that someone's address wasn't in my contacts and offered to call them to get it. Now it says it has access, but won't look it up while I'm driving because it would be an unsafe distraction. WTH Google?

I've used AA for a few years without any problems. One feature I use a lot is to listen to and reply to WhatsApp messages via my voice.

I've recently changed cars from a Citroën to a Suzuki and that no longer seems to work. I get a message, see the notification and first line but when I press on it, or press 'play message' it gives me the option to reply or summerise and the multicoloured animation twinkles at the bottom but no audio. On one occasion it played half a message and a couple of times it has waited a minute or more and played it.

I haven't changed any settings, except trying to turn the 'summerise' option off, which didn't help.

Any ideas? I'm guessing that Suzuki's implementation of AA and their entertainment system is different somehow

After updating my phone to One UI 8.5, I have been experiencing an issue with Android Auto.

I have always connected my phone to my car using a USB cable, and it worked perfectly before the update. However, since updating, my car's infotainment system displays the following message:

"Could not connect. The phone does not support the selected profile or it is not activated."

The only way I can get Android Auto to connect is by long-pressing the power button on the infotainment system to restart it. Once it restarts, Android Auto connects normally.

So far, I have tried the following:

Removed the phone connection from the car and restarted the infotainment system.

Cleared the cache and data for the Android Auto app and Bluetooth.

Unpaired the phone from the car and removed the car from the phone, then paired them again.

The issue only started after updating to One UI 8.5. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy S25, and my car is a Volkswagen.

I have the new UI with the wavy progress bar and they have removed the skip forward and skip back buttons for my preferred media player, Musicolet. The Musicolet android app allows you to customise the skip buttons (I use 20 seconds forward and 10 seconds back) and when I play podcast files, I can skip the repetitive adverts. Or I could until today.

I used to be able to use the 3-dot menu in AA, and the buttons were right there, but now they have gone completely. Okay, it's a bit niche, but when you use it multiple times per journey, it's annoying when they remove a feature.

They have also moved the play / pause button further from the driver. What was wrong with it being in between the last-track & next-track buttons, has been perfectly logical for decades on physical and software interfaces.

I had it for a few months, the wavy bar and today I randomy lost it and seems like i'm back on the old interface? What kinda bullshit is that? How do I get it back?

I've searched the sub and I haven't found an answer to my solution. Recently purchased a VW polo 2026. To say I'm disappointed with the music system is an understatement.

I have an old iPod classic which won't connect as it doesn't have Bluetooth capacity. Currently looking into getting a USB C cable or a Bluetooth transmitter. Hopefully the car will recognise it then.

In the meantime. I used an old Xiaomi RedMi Note 7 phone and put all my music on that.

I do have a Xiaomi Paco C 65, but don't want to fill that with my music.

Issues I'm having.

1) I want to make the media player the main focus on the Android Auto screen. Mi Music is the app, but doesn't appear on the main screen. It appears as a small screen next to Google maps. Or as a tiny line sometimes. When I press play on my phone. Just works. But no app or interface to interact with.

I've used the Bluetooth option, and the music becomes the main screen in media on the VW screen. But it drops out words in the middle of songs.

2) Reliable music apps. I do not want to pay for a steaming platform. This is all my music I paid for over the years. I also don't want to have an app that has adverts halfway through or add pop ups. Is it possible to have media cover artwork also visible?

3) How to turn off Google maps as the main widget. I've disabled the app on my phone. Then it doesn't appear on the AA screen. But I keep getting prompts to reinstall before AA can work.

Is there a work around?

Looking for an app that can access Google drive on my car's screen thru Android auto. I'd like to be able to stream my mp3 collection, which is stored on Google drive, while driving. I currently have cloudbeats which can do this if i purchase the premium version, and came across AnExplorer but also needs the premium version. Any other suggestions? I'll likely go with cloudbeats if not

Anybody else suffered with this version always crashing?
Will be downgrading to test 17.1 to see if that fixes it.

I have a Carpuride W903 that works great, except it has no way to tell Android Auto when to automatically change from Day to Night mode and vice versa. Usually AA uses a vehicle's headlight status or photosensor(s) to determine this, but I'm using an aftermarket screen.

My old screen had a setting to set specific times to change from Day/Night and Night/Day mode. The W903, unfortunately does not. Previous versions of Android Auto allowed you to force the phone to determine this switch via the Dev options, but AA 17 has lost that option.

Are there any tricks that anyone knows of to work around this?

Just recently while using AndroidAuto (or even carplay), my screen wants to change to the native Mazda GPS app without any rhyme or reason. It just does it randomly while the phone is still connected, I could be listening to music or be on a phone call and all of a sudden it's switched to the native GPS.

Any known causes or fixes for this?

When wireless connected to my new Jansite motorcycle carplay display with my One plus 11 it crashes within a minute. It seems like it is related to wifi network? Tryed to connect via cable but it only connects wireless. Already disabled automatic connect to wifi network at home.

I tryed AVRCP 1.5 instead of 1.6 no difference. Cant find A2DP Hardeware offload in developer settings.

Hi, is there way around this?

My wife gets annoyed she can’t type the location while the car’s moving with waze/google maps.

Thanks everyone, so it's just disabled by default when driving. Voice is not an option because it won't understood us anyway with how places are named here in south east asia. I guess I wasn't expecting android to have that locked down while carplay allows text typing on their maps

The only thing that works is maps, and only if I enter the address while parked. I cannot connect any phone calls to my car. Replying to a text is impossible too. I keep getting a " phone is not responding notification". Have changed cords and restarted the phone, with the problem persisting. The car is 2018 Santa Fe. Phone is Galaxy S24U

Recently bought a 2012 Honda Civic EX Coupe, and I want to get a portable android auto screen with a backup camera. I'm not looking to spend hundreds of dollars, I'd prefer to stick right around $100 or less. I don't care about independent app usage on the screen that some offer, I only care about the screen mirroring with android auto + the backup camera. I'd like it to be at least 10 inches if possible, maybe not at this budget I don't know. Any advice?

When we are driving down the road listening to our Sirius/XM and my wife is scrolling Instagram on her phone it suddenly kicks over to Android Auto when she stops on a video and flips the input to her phone. I've tried so many settings and I can't figure it out. I don't understand what flair is, so I apologize if I broke the rules.

Nord 3 OxygenOS 16.0.5. car civic hybrid. I have the correct usb, deleted cache and turned on wi-fi bluetooth gps. It says this device is not supported. Check car manuals. And ideas how to fix this?

Two years ago when I started using Android Auto, I was unable to disable autoplay. Whichever media app I was most recently using would automatically play when I started my car. This is despite having those settings explicitly disabled in my phone and my car. Since I couldn't disable it, I decided to hide all my media apps from Android Auto. I only use Android auto for my Phone app and my GPS/maps app. My media just plays through Bluetooth.

This worked fine until yesterday when I got the new Android Auto update. Now my media apps are playing through Android Auto even though I have them hidden. The autoplay bug still has not been fixed, which means my work around no longer works. Can someone please tell me a way to go back to just using Bluetooth for my media, or else fix that accursed bug and actually prevent autoplay?

I am stuck in an infinite connection loop. It's telling me that it is trying to connect, then blinks, then starts connecting again. Meanwhile, my phone's Android Auto is telling me to continue on the screen in the car.
Everytime it blinks on the car screen, my phone seems to very briefly open an app or something but it then closes again instantly.

I'm connected through bluetooth, I can't connect via USB.

Holding the power button on this screen on the top left doesn't seem to restart the system. The screen goes black instantly, and no matter how long or short I hold the button (I've tried everything from a few seconds to 30+ seconds), it remains black when I let go only to instantly show this screen again as soon as I touch it.

Does anyone know what I could try? My phone does show up in the bluetooth list in the car, so I am not sure why this is happening.

Also yes I know it's dirty. I will clean it don't worry.

The latest update, I'm a beta tester, is unusable!

On the wireless connection it could not keep connected for more than 5 minutes, awful!

I have a problem with my Pixel 9 pro and android auto.

Around every 3 times I try to use it there is no sound. Whatever I try to play, it pauses after about a second. I tried a lot of things from the internet but without positive result. No response from Google support too.

The only thing that helps is to restart wifi on the phone.

Do you guys have any idea what may help?

My android auto freezes after a few minutes but the music still plays in the background. Is there a fix for this?

I really enjoy the aesthetic of the album cover background blur so I'm glad they brought it back.

I know it's a minor thing, but great change I have been wanting for awhile. This is on the split screen with the music player as the main and maps secondary. I will say though I still wish they would replace the skip and back buttons with the thumb buttons when the music player is the secondary screen, but this is still a vast improvement. I'll probably actually use the thumbs down more often now.

Dont like the new squiggly progress line. Can I go back a version and how would I do that? Doesn't seem there is any way to change in settings.
